The Irate Gamer Game: It's Real!

At least it wants to be real, given how long it's taken I wouldn't be surprised if it never comes out.
You might be thinking "Come on, nobody would be dumb enough to make an Irate Gamer video game". Sadly there are some truly stupid people in this world.
There was an actual site but it no longer exists, redirecting to this Facebook page:
Very little is actually known about the game. It will be a beat-em-up a/la Double Dragon or Final Fight. Well, the "old version" was. Now they want to make it a 3D beat-em-up a/la Castle Crashers. Isn't that cute, they think can match Double Dragon or Castle Crashers level of quality.
The game has gone through three different art styles. The first made IG look like Carl Fredrickson from Up, but Bores hated it. The second was similar, with IG having a permanent grimace. Even in drawings he looks constipated. The third and current art-style is more realistic but looks really ugly.
In January 2010 (when the page was made) they announced the game would be out in the Spring for Xbox Live and PC. Considering all they had amounted to concept art, I didn't see this happening. I was right. The Facebook stopped updating in April 2010, presumably the project was abandoned.
That is until January 2011. The Facebook page updated after nine months of silence, announcing a mid-2011 release for Xbox Live, PC, iOS, and Android.
I have no idea what the game's story is, they don't tell us. But going by the concept art, IG uses two guns attached to his thighs to fight tall robots and fat robots, apparently these robots are the Evil Gamer's minions. The game's big bad is... Doctor Doom? I'm just going by the pictures.
Once again, we have no footage or in-game screenshots, just concept art. The last update was March 8th, reminding people that they're giving a DSi XL. Wow good strategy, give away a DSi in the same window of time as the 3DS' launch!
I don't see this game ever coming out. For all I know these guys could just be scamming Bores out of his money and constantly delaying the game because it doesn't really exist. Even if it does get released, I don't see it being popular. On XBL, it'd have to compete with all the Indie titles. On iOS, good luck fending off Angry Birds or whatever the next fad will be. On PC, it'd be easier to release it for free!
So there you have it, there really is an IG game in the works. Maybe it'll come out by the time Bores covers the Dreamcast in his History of Video Games series.

  1. Good for Bores. Now he can make a quick trailer for it to get more ad revenue.

  2. Its gonna be one of THOSE games stuck in development hell for a ton of time, and by the time it is finally released, its gonna be the Big Disapointment

Ladies and gentlemen we have the next Daikatana

  3. How can an Irate Gamer game be disappointing? If it comes out, we know exactly what to expect from it!

  4. @Rafael

Only Daikatana was made by a professional called John Romero and it caused him to fall badly.

  5. @Truthfulpietro

    You're right about that.

Did you know the Gameboy Color version of Daikatana is better then its console counterparts?

If I was coding a game for someone who really doesn't have the fanbase to merit one and they told me to re do the art style I had chosen to best fit the project, I would just tell them to get lost.

  7. Giving Bores' ego, IF the game comes out, he would probaly do a review on it.

  8. @Arthur Arneiro

He would also still give it a bad review if it doesn't have Pixar quality cut scenes

  9. FFL2and3rocks uploaded a new Third Rate Gamer video!

  10. Can you give me the URL of the original website so that I can feed it into the wayback machine?

  11. In Linkara's new AT4W, he admitted to be a Lady Gaga fan.

Somewhere, I'm seeing The Fedora'd Samurai crying in the corner.

...Just...Just give me a moment...It's so sad to see a potential warrior of metal fall to the most disgust form of ear poison.

  13. I guarantee that the Irate Gamer Game will probably rip off the Scott Pilgrim video game somehow.

  14. I don't think Linkara admitted he was a heavy metal fan. Iron Liz did (well, she's named after Iron Maiden so that's a given).

It seems I found the old site: http://88.208.247.95/web/theirategamergame/ It's still up but it's no longer updating.

I know this feeling, but for me, this feeling is seeing my sister dance to Brazilian Funk (to even call it that. It sounds nothing like REAL Funk). Good thing my mom made she stop doing it. Whew.

You know what I do when I hear Lady Gaga's Poker Face or Bad Romance on the radio? I just change it to LK's Brooklyn Rage and Leather Pants XD

  17. Ughhh... I went to the Facebook page, and there are more positive comments than negative ones!

But we're not gonna spam the page, are we? We have standards.

  18. Dammit Batdan, how many times are you gonna scare the piss out of me? An Irate Gamer game? Are you serious? Geez...

    @Arthur Arneiro

Linkara.... is a Lady Gaga fan... excuse me while I go kill someone...

  19. @VinceThePhilosofer

Well, there are music genres worse than Pop. Look at the bright side! At least Linkara isn't a Rap or Hip-Hop fan! (Or Brazilian Funk)

  20. I wonder how long it will take for Irate Gamer to say he's coming out with an "Irate Gamer Movie", now that AVGN is doing one.

    ReplyDelete
  21. last I heard, the development team was rewriting the engine, this was before I saw that they redid the art style as well.
this isn't being released any time soon.

it's stupid in a lot of ways. a lot of people make fan games for AVGN but James only allows it if the game is free. meanwhile bores is treating this as a professional project and expects people to buy it?

also, why announce a game so early? AVGN already had games, so it's not like he was trying to beat James to the punch so his fanboys could accuse James of ripping off Bores if he ever made a game.

finally, why announce a game that probably isn't started? its best if you wait until it's at least 70% done before you even mention the title.

  22. Bores's star has already fallen a long way. By the time this is done, if it ever is, I don't imagine there being many people willing to pay money to be the Irate Gamer.

That's where Lukestalker gets into action!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Why do I have an feeling that bores require that the game have, 4player mode, super easy mode, graphic as the same league such as crysis, English dub option, game Genie avable,

Rap and Hip Hop IS pop music. It's called pop music for a reason. POPULAR music. not music that is good. Pop music is designed solely for being catchy and getting into people's heads. it's not a genre that should be given such artistic merit as it is.

Lyrically, Pop music is practically all the same song, about sex, having sex, selling sex, in the middle of sex, or sipping tea whilst having sex. Metal in this regard is superior, as they most often use sword and sorcery mumbo jumbo as metaphors and similes for actual problems. Black Sabbath's "Children of the Sea" is about the pollution going on the world and our effect on it. Stratovarius' song "Elysium" off the titular album, is about a soldier who died on the field of battle, getting sent to Elysium, the place where heroic souls go after death from Greek Mythology. in the second part to the song, he's revived, but totally brain dead, unable to move and trapped in his own body (much akin to Metallica's "one"). then, in the third part, a sympathetic person pulls the plug for him, allowing him to return to Elysium. I fucking dare you to find a pop song equal to such beauty in lyrics.

Musically, Pop is even worse than it's lyrics. I want to take you back with me to a time when I was going on a road trip with my friend through Saskatchewan. My ipod was dead, leaving me without the glorious ways of Metal. There was only one radio station in range. it was a pop station and I wholly objected to it, but it was my friend's car and he listens to the most despicable garbage known to man to steel his ears in preparation for when all this crap envelops the earth. Every single godamned "song" was barren of instruments. We were lucky to get a drumbeat and maybe some guy throwing stuff at a keyboard from across the room. Metal Bands like Manowar and Nightwish (not a fan since Tarja left, she had a damn fine voice) sometimes utilize entire orchestras and choirs. What's the most innovative thing Katy Perry has done? brought in a guy who knew slap bass. Real fucking special, you know who's been doing that for godamned ever? Flea from Red Hot Chili Peppers, a funk rock band that I'm determined to get labeled Funk Metal.

In conclusion, I fucking hate Pop Music.

Trust me, after hearing the Funk in MY country, you'd change your opinion about the worst music genre EVER. Our Funk is like a mish-mash of Rap, Techno (which I like) and Samba (which I also like) blended with perverted machist lyrics and mixed by an uniskilled DJ. No wonder we only have ONE Funk CD that ISN'T pirated.

Funk is not a mix of anything, is just a bunch of random and repetitive sounds that they call "beat". Bleh.

  28. So it might be finished, weird. I actually wonder if it will be beatable, maybe the last level will be impossible or something. If I feel like it, I might start reviewing games just to show how terrible it is.

Also, that new Third Rate video was pretty good. The end joke is probably the only good thing about those other two dispersing.

    ReplyDelete
  29. @nuclearneo577
Finished? Haha no. All we've seen is concept art. We don't have footage, we don't have gameplay screenshots, we don't even have a story. I don't see this getting finished.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I meant might be, as in they are still thinking about it. You are still right, there is a very low chance of it being released.

    ReplyDelete
  31. @ nuclearneo577

A lot of people will probably buy it just to see how bad it is. Some of the Irate parodies were planning their parodies the moment the game was announced.
I urge you, and anyone else thinking about it, DO NOT buy this game, even if only to see how bad it is.
If Bores makes one cent of this shit, it'll be one cent too many.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'm pretty sure that by the time this gets finished, it'll be under the name of a new and more popular reviewer, as Bores will have lost his YouTube partner status, featured videos, fan loyalty, subscribers, any sort of admirers, and the Irate Gamer persona. He'll return to being a mediocre writer with a small name and big ego with his Internet celebrity status as deader than disco, while Eric Allen will have gained some credibility in another type of show.

  33. Irate Gamer just released a 200th video special!

    ReplyDelete
  34. Funny how he decided to mention Armake21 in that video (the same reviewer who made that rant video about him in which he called Bores a "fucking moron").

    ReplyDelete
  35. 200 video special ...reminds me about noobtoob 200 video special.. the main different is that noobtoobs gaming ep is 30m-1h long compare to cris 2-3m videos/trailer

    ReplyDelete
  36. He doesn't mention Armake, he talked about a guy called Armack.

    ReplyDelete
  37. @fattoler

I thought he said Ermac, since he's such a big fan of Mortal Kombat to say Tekken sucks compared to it XD

Btw is Armake's name pronounced the same way you'd say arm ache or is it pronounced differently?

    ReplyDelete
  38. Well, Marcus himself says Ar-Make, so I guess that's how you are supposed to pronounce it.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Who the fuck thought this was a great idea?

    ReplyDelete
  40. @Shaolin Dave:

This game will probably only be bought ONCE, and then it's going to get pirated.

The game will most likely be a super easy beat 'em up where you just go to the right and mash the attack button. You'll never die, and every enemy will be surrounded by a big circle. But thankfully, nobody will be interested in Bores long before it get's released.

    ReplyDelete
  41. At the arcade, a kid seemed interested in my 'Killer Instinct' machine, so I put in some free credits for him. He tried to start the game by hitting random attack buttons, and on his third or forth try accidentally pressed the player 2 start button.

Kids these days have been dumbed down so much by modern games, not only can they not play the classics, they can't figure out how to start the classics.

This is Bores' fan base. There's no way he or anyone else can make a game that they'd enjoy.

    ReplyDelete
  42. don't be surprised if someone out there LPs it bad game or not Kinda like ProtonJon LPing Superman 64 and that game was horrendous
