An HD Shine Can't Hide This Historically Rotten Writing

… I wasn’t going to cover this. I thought I didn’t need to after the first HD revision. I was soooooo wrong.

For those that don‘t know, Chris Bores had this desire to revise his early History of Videos Games episodes in HD. His reason? Putting it on a DVD/Blu-Ray. Look, if you put out a DVD titled “History of Video Games” and it doesn’t even cover the Atari 2600, people are going to feel ripped off. They can possibly sue you for false advertising.
Sure, you can argue only fans will buy it, but there’s the chance that someone who doesn’t know who he is will buy it. Not only will they feel cheated, they’ll get this horribly unfunny and incredibly inaccurate DVD that seems to care more for silly jokes than actual information. Chris, quit pretending this is a fucking documentary. Why do you think nobody takes you seriously?
Also, what’s the point? You could invest that time in something else. Like finishing your stupid story arc, or doing further episodes of this pointless documentary. It’s a waste.

The reason I wasn’t going to cover it isn’t that I didn’t want to, it’s that I thought I didn’t need to. Last year, he released Part 1 in HD, and there were very very very few changes. He wore a different shirt in one scene, the timing on the “How come this stuff never happens to Captain Kirk” joke was a little less awkward (still wasn’t funny) and he took out the harsher profanity (“Holy fireballs of shit” became “Holy fireballs of crap” and “64? What the fuck?” was reduced to just “64?”). Other than that, the video was virtually unchanged, it was even the same length.

So, 20 months later, when he announced that the HD version of Part 2 was coming out, I brushed it off with no plans to do it. However, I noticed it was much shorter than the original version. Where the original was around 11 minutes long, this revision is only 7 minutes. That’s good right?
Well… the shorter length comes with a massive price. The video is waaaaay worse than the original. It takes the massive problems with the original and magnifies them tenfold. This… is not going to go well.

Before I start, what was wrong with the original? Unsurprisingly, there was plenty of research failure. It was so bad that the Odyssey’s creator, Ralph Baer, called him out on it (http://irategamersucks.blogspot.com/2011/03/ralph-baer-responds-no-chris-he-didnt.html). The review part was unbelievably botched, he spent the entire time comparing the 1970s console to modern standards, something NOBODY would do because that’s just plain idiotic. He included a story bit where the second player was the HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey (Get it? Because both are called Odyssey? SO CLEVER!). Somehow it would tie into his Season 4 story arc, confusing people into wondering if History of Video Games was a separate series or not. Then there was the awful jokes, like Bores going to space to get a part from a Jawa action figure, or the dirty flash cards. It’s definitely a contender for worst History of Video Games episode (that or Part 4).

An optimist would think that this would be a good time for Bores to fix all the problems. … Let’s get started. If you want more info, check out the original post here: http://irategamersucks.blogspot.com/2009/10/odyssey-part-1-this-is-gonna-hurt.html

0:05 - 0:35:On the bright side, he didn’t include the “For over 35 years…” intro like the original.
He goes over the history bits, though this feels much more condensed before. He did add a lot of his modern stock footage, only it’s in black and white. He also put his Odyssey in a briefcase to represent Baer showing it off.

0:36 - 1:39: He describes what the Odyssey comes with (thankfully, he removed that “crude in design” remark) and gets to the part where he learns the video cable isn’t compatible with his TV.
“What the fuck is this?” Looks like the profanity is staying. Why he changed it for the first HD revision I don’t know. I’d say “family-friendly” but I’m doubting that at this point.
“Instead of a video cable that looks like this, or this, you end up with this!” Looks like he still doesn’t realize that something that’s 40 years old won’t work on modern televisions. He did remove the “what an ass-biter” line so I guess some profanity is gone.
More complaining about outdated cables then he looks in his “Intergalactic Phone Book” to find the part. Except here, he showed that he already has the part. So why does he need to do this upcoming bit?
I do find it funny how an “Intergalactic Phone Book” is about the size of a Sandusky, Ohio phone book.

Then it cuts to “half-way across the galaxy” and… a really pointless addition. We see IG in a vector-drawn spaceship. I think that’s meant to be the ship from “Spacewar” as it’s the same model shown in his Part 1 title card. By the way Chris, if this is intended for the DVD, you can’t have that John Williams music.
He lands on Tatoonie (and I’m convinced that planet from before was also from Star Wars, good luck dealing with Disney) and meets with the Jawa action figure. Again, you have the part, you didn’t need to do this bit. Hell, you didn’t need to do this bit the first time. It just feels like you did a Star Wars reference for the sake of doing a Star Wars reference. At least with HAL I can kind-of sort-of see why you put him in, but this… never made sense.
“Yeah, I don’t know what the hell they were thinking of either” … I’ll tell what the hell they were thinking of. They were thinking “Say, what do most televisions have, and how can we get our toy to properly function?” What’s that? They dare not take into account someone playing it 40 years in the future? Well no shit! They didn’t consider that video games would be what they are now, they didn’t plan ahead because they saw no reason to.

After that pointlessness, we get another new addition, this time IG crashes his ship into his ceiling and falls out. A fitting metaphor for this video.
He then hooks up his Odyssey… wait a second. That looks different from the cables he used last time. *checks* It is! Last time he used an RF cable, which wouldn’t work with the Odyssey. Here he uses the proper one. So… what was the footage he had last time?

1:40 - 1:56: “Here’s a fast fact” Something about that line just irritates me. I think it’s because it reminds me of those really cheesy educational shorts they would show you in school with the kids that couldn’t act and the adults with scenery in their teeth.
He then says his incorrect fact about the game being in the Odyssey rather than the cards.

1:57 - 2:54: He brings up how the Odyssey turns on when you plug a card into it. Then… dramatic music starts playing for some reason. Umm, why? Does he know HAL is on it and doesn’t want to get hurt? Because that wouldn’t make sense from a continuity standpoint.
“LET THERE BE LIFE” … It’s a toy. A really old toy. There’s no life in it. Unless you meant to say “light”. If you did… second takes are your friend. Unless… crap he’s doing the HAL thing again isn’t he?
Yes he is, because bad electric effects cover his Odyssey and go into his TV.
“Hello Dave” *sighs* You know, I’m fairly certain HAL can say other names outside of David Bowman’s. He’s supposed to be an ultra-intelligent computer, so it wouldn’t make sense for him to call everyone “Dave”. But it only goes to show what a hack Chris really is, and that he’s probably never actually seen 2001. Or if he has, he didn’t get through it.

By the way, his HAL impression somehow got worse. No idea how that happened.
Oh, and he tries to justify this bad plot device by saying he has a “SUPER-RARE” Odyssey. Yeah, if you’re trying to be a “serious” documentary, it’s best not to make up shit like this.
Blah blah blah, HAL will be his opponent. He moves to the first game “Table Tennis” (or Tabletop Tennis as he calls it but whatever).

2:55 - 3:31: I don’t know what it is, but this footage looks kind of fake. Might just be my imagination.
He goes over the controls, and notes how one of the knobs puts a little spin into the ball. Then a bad joke where he spins it “right out of the game”. Just because you can do effects, doesn’t mean you should. Most of his jokes seem to rely on “Look what I can do with After Effects!”
Blah blah blah glitches.

3:32 - 4:04: He gets into the overlays, brings up the Hockey and Football games (the latter he didn’t mention last time) and then begins reviewing Skiing game. Not much here.

4:05 - 4:33: He explains the game, but then says you’ll likely die of boredom before finishing it. Showing him falling over “dead”. Then he goes on to compare the game… Candyland. What? How? Because of the trees. *looks at the Candyland board (http://www.lscheffer.com/CandyLand.jpg)* What the fuck are you seeing? He specifically mentions Peppermint Forest and Gumdrop Mountains, but those are pink candy canes and bright-colored gumdrops. Not. Green. Trees.
In fact, that mountain has a Triforce in it. Wasted Zelda reference!
“I thought this was supposed to be a video game, not a board game”. Video games did not exist in 1972, think of the Odyssey more as a board game that’s played on a TV. Oh wait, you can’t because you’re too ignorant to put yourself in the right mindset.
Then to further establish this is revision, he does one of his “character slides in from his right (our left)” jokes. This time it’s Mr. Mint from Candyland, and wow that’s an ugly drawing. Maybe you shouldn’t have burned DatBoiDrew that badly.

4:34 - 5:08: He moves onto Simon Says, and proceeds to do the same dreadful joke he did last time.
“Simon says penis?” It still bugs me how much time and effort he took for those cards just for this awful, awful joke. Why? Why not put that time in something worthwhile? Instead you waste it creating adult-themed flashcards for a game that’s intended for kids. What the fuck man?
This time he doesn’t say “masturbation hand”, and throws the cards in the air after seeing “vagina”.

5:09 - 5:39: He starts talking about the Roulette game, and does things differently here. This time he uses the chips on the board to make bets. He loses the first one and decides to put everything on a second bet. He pushes the button and lands on 6.
“Nine?!” … What? Are you kidding me?
“There’s not even a 9 on the damn board!” Oh God… you seriously made the same mistake. What is wrong with you?
No, this is not a joke. Despite his claim, this is clearly not a joke! This just makes him look like a complete moron! I’ll admit, I’m terrible at math, but even I can tell the difference between a 6 and a 9!
And to make this worse, the first number he landed on was 18, which is right next to the 6, and he even calls out “18”. How… what… aksld;fjasl;kdjsadfkl;fl;
Please, explain to me how THIS is a joke! Because I don’t see it! Gaaaah!

5:39 - 6:40: He brushes aside a few games that got more attention in the original video, then plays the States game so he can yell at Magnavox for thinking this could be fun. Oh man, it’s almost over!
He goes over additional games that were sold separately and how they use board games combined with the screen. He calls them too complicated, then a scene of HAL talking. You know, I remember him being excited about the all new games he had for this. Figures they would only get 5 seconds of screen time.

The video ends with IG bringing the Odyssey Light Rifle. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. There was a second part to this, a Part 2B. This one going over the Light Rifle. I have a feeling he did that to make himself look better than the AVGN, who didn’t cover it in his Odyssey video. For all I care, he could take another 20 months to make the HD revision of that.

It’s… astonishing. Bores somehow made a video worse than the original. I’m just baffled by this. He claims on Facebook that in the original the “flow” didn’t feel right. There’s no flow to be had, especially when you do cutaway gags ALL THE TIME, or spend a minute pretending to be a bunch of horses. That is, if he’s claiming each part is supposed to transition to the next like a real documentary. Either way… he’s a hack and this video just annoyed the hell out of me.

Well, it’s almost December. Think he’ll do anything worthwhile, or will this be the last video of the year outside of some rushed Neo videos and contests. The latter sounds more likely knowing him.

  1. Man, is he now seriously going into George Lucas' Special Edition territory Oo ?

Videos not being in HD didn't stop him from releasing his first batch of Irate Gamer DVDs. Sure, it probably looks crappy, but who would honestly buy this stuff anyways?

This "Hell Dave"-shtick reminds me a lot of his Agent Smith parody in one of his pre-IG-videos who can only adress people with "Mr. Anderson". Wasn't funny back then, either.
I'd call him out on his "OH YEAH!"-gag with the Kool-Aid-Man but sadly, almost everyone else thinks he can only say this line as well <_<

  2. I...i can't believe this. I really can't. After TWENTY months, he made the same mistakes again. He still says each cartridge comes with their own command codes and still thinks the 6 is a 9. It really shows that he doesn't listen to what Ralph Baer said to him in the comments at all. Hell he never listens to anyone. He really is an ignorant hack and this butchered version makes George Lucas's revisions on the original Star Wars trilogy look better in comparison.

Speaking of Star Wars, it's spelt 'Tatooine', BatDanNight.

    1. Well, this came three years after the original video. The "20th months" refers to when the first HD revision was released. So... three years to fix his mistakes, and he still didn't do it.

  3. You know, I was actually quite interested in the 'Invasion' game. As a guy who plays board games quite a bit it looked interesting and fun, but does Chris even bother to explain it despite having all the tools available to do so? No, of course not and now there is one less complete set of Invasion left in the world, thanks Chris.

Does anyone know of a good overview of that game in particular?

  8. My reactions when watching this "remastered" HD video:
    - Sees the scene with the Jawa on Tatooine: Ugh! It was unnecessary before and it still is now, especially with the new parts of him flying and crashing a ship that looks like something you would find on the Vectrex.
    - Sees the "dramatic" scene where IG plugs in one of the Odyssey cards, causing electricity to sprout from the connection cables and cause HAL to appear with his generic "Hello Dave" quote: Seems really pointless. However, at least he establishes that his Odyssey console is "rare and technologically-superior" compared to other standard Odysseys. Oh wait, is that a good thing? I don't know, but it does explain why Evil Gamer stole his Odyssey in the Cool Spot video . . . at least I think it does.
    - Sees him playing and explaining Table Tennis: While in the Odyssey game you do knock the ball off of your opponent's side of the screen, that's not how it is in real tennis. In real tennis, you try to knock the ball off of your opponent's side of the COURT. In Table Tennis (aka Ping-Pong), you try to knock the ball off of your opponent's side of the TABLE.
    - Sees Mr. Mint from Candyland show up: I think anyone who has played Candyland in the past, and loved it, may have had their good memories ruined with that "joke".
    - Sees the recycled and perverted Simon Says cards: *facepalm*
    - Sees the Roulette part where IG calls out 9 instead of 6: *double facepalm* You can't be serious; he made the same mistake again! You would think, when people called him out the first time, he would have learned his mistake . . . unless this is supposed to be another stupid "joke".
    - Sees HAL speaking during the Invasion game: Just stupid and unnecessary.
    * Looks at top of blog post* "The video is waaaaay worse than the original." I agree 100%.

    1. I believe that there two possible explanations for that.

      1. It's so obvious that only Batdan, who is writing posts to be as clear as possible would include a line that explains the reference

      2. It's so bad and poorly executed, People refused to acknowledge it as a reference to 2001:Space odyssey.

      Delete
    2. Probably both.

Bores' HL 9000 is so reduced to nothing more then an internet meme that is so departed from the movie's Hal 9000 that it hurts to think that it could be based on the movie.

Think about it pulling out the card has it say daisy daisy, it only can call ANYONE 'Dave' and says I can't let you do that. See it's as if he's never once seen the movie but based Hal on nothing more then pop culture trivia references!

A far cry from the Hal 9000 who can read people's lips isn't it.

    3. This is what happens if you make a parody of a character you only really know from a single quote. It's like having a Vader parody that can only say "I am your father".

Speaking of Star Wars: New Trilogy Yoda has way worse grammar than Old Trilogy Yoda because of all the parodies in the decades between that turn his little speech shtick up to eleven. Popular culture can be a real bitch.

    ACCOUNT 1 IGN WORKER.
    Me: Hey there Chris!
I have been a fan of yours since 2008 and recently as I work at IGN I was wondering if I could interview you for an article we are putting up later this year.
it would be fantastic if you agreed and I would love the chance to interview you.
    Thanks,
    Chris : Hey thanks Jorge.
I tried looking you up on IGN and didn't see any of your articles. Send me a few of them. I run into your staff over there all the time. All big fans of mine. Do you work with John Martin? I run into that guy everywhere. Tell him i said hello

    -Chris
Me: Thanks for the reply Chris I was worried that you may not have got to look at it considering the massive amount of emails you must get!
And as for me not having any articles it is because I generally "help" with the articles like do research for some people and help some staff members out with information they can't find and that sort of stuff. But I just got this job to try and interview around 12 popular game reviewers on the Internet so I am really excited about that.
And I think you mean David Martinez as he is the president of the company, So I guess you could say I work for him! Ha ha.
And I will be sure to tell him you said hello if I ever get the chance.
But as I said before in my previous email would you like to be interviewed?
Oh and of course there would be a link to your channel and website in the article.
    Thanks Chris!

    -Jorge
Chris: Well i'd love too but you didn't pass the test and I don't do interviews. thanks though

    2. There are software systems that allow IP tracking and capturing. Some of them are provided to Youtube partners. There is a snag, however some internet providers already do IP masking for the way they assign them usually means that many of these software options show up those as all the same IP no matter who is using it to send an e-mail. For example every e-mail send from off my University campus will all register the same IP on these systems as do many comcast account users as they use a similar setup.

So multiple e-mail all having the same IP isn't necessarily proof of someone trolling.

On the subject of your e-mails, no Batdan shouldn't cover them. Firstly what you are doing is baiting and highly unethical making the idea of covering them a bit pointless. I'd advise you to stop right now and do not do this any further as it is the very definition of harassment.

Second, what does it actually prove that we don't already know? The reason Bores doesn't do interviews is because that one time he feels he got tricked and he's afraid of being caught off guard again.

  16. What's really disappointing about Bores' lack of understanding about finding parts for an old machine being hard or impossible is that it's commonplace for technology in general, not just for video games.

I mean we had an air conditioner a few years back that had to be replaced because it was old and finding replacement parts wasn't an option.

  17. I don't get why Bores doesn't even attempt to actually improve his game reviews. Why doesn't he even listen to people who try to give him constructive criticism?

    1. Bore's delusional. He's actually said that for every one fan mail he gets there's a hundred just silently watching and enjoying. He believes there's only a handful of people who are jealous of his success, and spend most of every day creating thousands of sockpuppet accounts to make it seem like more people don't like him.

    2. Its not like stubbornness and lack willingness to change bad habits are rare traits. We have so many stupid people in the world who can't see confirmation bias and who can blame them? University education is a privilege and the world still has yet to adopt mainstream psychology.

      Delete
    3. Well, it's the internet. Far too many people can only deal in absolutes and see any form of constructive criticism as a grave insult.

That's also why some fans believe rating systems for videos (be it a star system or this newer like/dislike button) exist only to give positive ratings (because all dislikers are only "jealous haters"). Strangely, they don't realize that this would basically make rating systems pointless Oo

"He believes there's only a handful of people who are (jealous) of his success"

"Jealous". That one word sums up his (and his mothers) mentality. As a result of his delusion, if you don't like him, he immediately concludes that you're jealous of his "success" and you wish you could have 130,000 subscribers.

Bores thinks he's hot shit, because in his own words, "Chris went on to hold the prestigious award of at one point being the #55th most subscribed channel on YouTube"

You know, because everyone wants to be a once infamous, now obscure video game reviewer.

      Delete
    5. You'd think it would hurt his ego to go from #55 to #1701 in the course of a few years.

      Delete
    6. Geez, #1701? Didn't he only fall out of the top 1000 a few months ago?

    7. That's a dubious way to word this accomplishment. Marketing isn't his forte, is it? "Chris went on to have at one point over 150,000 YouTube subscribers" sounds more impressive than saying "55th most subscribed channel" 55th place! WOW!

That's how it's done. I sold it a lot better while still using facts.

    2. Oh I don't know, The blog's name is Irate gamer sucks. But apparently you think we should talk about the Dynari. The Dynari say we should talk about flowers.

Come on man, if you don't honestly care about the Irate gamer. Why would you post a comment about how we still care about the Irate gamer? This is a site about cataloging his mistakes. If you are trying to shame us, then you should realize that we're doing a job no one else wants to.

I don't know about what everyone else thinks about you. But to me, you honestly come off as a troll account. Every single time you're asking something pointless or getting mad over us mentioning Asaleri. What? Is asaleri still campaigning against us? Does he have any real evidence as to why we shouldn't exist?

There are way better targets you know... Like the KKK blog. The sea shepherd blog. The petasucks blog. Electronic arts rabid fanbase. You seem to be convinced all we do is write "derp Irate gamer sucks cock" and whack off to our hatred of him. Grow up! People study and report on boring lameass corrupt politicians so I don't see why its wrong for us to study a lameass corrupt internet persona.

Hell I could reverse that argument right around and you wouldn't be able to defend against it either.
"You're STILL complaining about people complaining about the Irate gamer? Do you know how much he sucks? Do you know how talentless he really is? Irate gamer has been going for years and with each pathetic installment Irate Gamer gets more complaints. Are you saying people should just ignore him? Then why can't you ignore us? Are you just saying people should bend over and take his talentless shit? People still complain because he's still going! You're not seriously wondering if people are gonna complain about a problem that hasn't been solved... are you?"
And BAM, its a logical dilemma that can't be solved. Which is exactly why it doesn't work as a argument.

Bottom line: For all you people who feel we should stop... get some goddamn empathy! Is it your problem if we want to do as we please? Is your life RUINED utterly ripped in two, chainsawed to the dick, sent to the eye of Horus DESTROYED by our continued wish to catalog his mistakes? There's being concerned for the livelihood of your fellow men and being an ethnocentric asshole who wants everyone to be exactly like them.

    8. Upon further scraping of the barrel with harryhenry's piece of shit comment, I realized that it doesn't make any sense. So I will grade his essay after a somewhat lengthy analysis.

Basically Henry is saying that because we keep track of his mistakes, we're obsessed? The argument is invalid on the grounds that there's no direct connection between tracking someone's flaws and obsession. IF that's the case, then every teacher and editor is obsessed. Every person who so much as tries to list something is obsessed. It's flawed inductive reasoning because the premise does not guarantee the conclusion.

The second issue is that Henry ignores the obvious reason why this blog exists. Irate gamer is still spreading hate across youtube and this is substantial reason for the blog's existence. His schedule is so poorly regulated that whatever fans he has are forced to troll other people while they wait.

The other obvious mistake is assuming we're in this because we hate him. Perhaps HarryHenry should actually read the comments on the blog and its pages as none of them express personal hatred for Bore's and none condemn him to death. The fact that people visit this blog has nothing to do with how much we hate him. In fact, there are too many people here who'd rather bore's move on with life or improve or at the very least go back to the old days of self parody instead of the current trend of pretentious egotism. This is another premise that doesn't guarantee the conclusion. Just because they don't like Irate gamer doesn't mean they hate him with a passion.

Puppy love is also an incorrect term for the meaning harry attempted to convey. Puppy love is meant to describe shallow feelings that are easily transferred. If Harry contradicts himself because he states that we're obsessed. If so then we cannot display puppy love because obsession is a refusal to remove emotional investment. Puppy love also means that the target of affection is seen as a role model. This is false for obvious reasons and it is recommended that HarryHenry use a dictionary next time. It appears that HarryHenry could not actually explain why the blog and its goers don't deserve to exist and so wanted to suggest that they are dogs. Irregardless, puppy love was an inadequate argumentative critical word that was not used properly and thus destroyed the preposition proposed by that sentence.

The next sentence is even worse. There's a 'A.' in the middle of nowhere. Harryhenry makes the assumption that Irate gamer should be ignored based on the grounds that Irate gamer is no longer important. The problem encountered during this segment is a rather heavy one, harryhenry failed to establish a criteria on the definition important. Irate gamer is in all rights important, he was critical member in the youtube partnership program and a shining example of corrupt youtube politics. His current actions are critical to the current anti-AVGN sentiment. From this, there's no clear way to state that Irate Gamer is not important. Perhaps if HarryHenry had named other more important people, Irate Gamer could look pitiful by comparison. But he did not and the failure is imminent.

Since the earlier premises fell flat. The thesis of the argument, that goers of this blog are vengeful and dysfunctional haters also falls flat.

      Anaylsis complete: Grade: F-
Try taking Canadian grade 8 English again. You'd be taken more seriously if you backed up your words with facts in lieu of insulting accusations. You fail at grammar and proper word use, you fail at formatting and you fail at arguing. If you have to resort to calling people losers to have fun in life then perhaps you should spend time improving your own life instead of trying to make others feel small.

"I stood up for him when AVGN attacked him..."
      - when did that ever happen? Seriously, I've heard James mention Bores once only to say he was had no reason to pretend he exist. Has James ever "attacked" Bores?

"I lost my job at ScrewAttack defending your son"
      - yet we also have screenshots of Larry (under the same user name, LarryBundyJr) being made fun of by Bores himself for losing that job back in October. Why didn't Bores know that he was the reason? Why didn't Larry bring it up then?

"Whoever this batman person is, I want to know, I have family members in MI6 and UNIT and if he's impersonating me to attack my friends, I'll take him to court!"
      - Um, whoever the "fake Larry" is, I'm sure he'll be really sad when you take BatDan to court instead of him. Enjoy a counter-lawsuit for wrongful prosecution, along with your family's charges for fraud/waste/abuse of government resources.

Remember that rant I made about the importance of this blog and how it counters group psychology and helps prevent more people mixing in with the wrong crowd and by extension ruin their social lives? Beastlycharizard is the product when people do get mixed into the wrong group and become apart of a cult that is socially isolationist (though not heavily enforced). So Harryhenry, if you are bothering to read this, this is another good reason to not stop covering the Irate gamer. The stupidity and the personality cult hasn't ended yet and there are still good people trapped in Chris bore's self-destructive game. Bore's spends more time filling youtube with hate then he does with his show.

It also doesn't help that she spends more time making fun of me then proving that wrong. If anything that makes even more right because if IG didn't spend more time hating on the internet then his mom wouldn't be wasting time calling me names and saying I'm delusional. Actually yeah, technically I and everyone is. I mean this blog is very comical and a lot of times we spend talking about other things like the Fighting Fantasy books or new movies and updates. I'm really sick of the whole 'The blog has the word suck in it' so obviously its a mindless hate cult. Try reading the blog and looking at the community you jerks!

Anyone with a brainstem will realize that usernames have nothing to do with degree of friendliness. I mean info145 sounds like a nice guy, its a shame s/he's caught up in seashepherd lies and is unwilling to realize the dick dastardly predicament he/she's in. It also doesn't help that the sea shepherd racist rhetoric rubbed off on him/her to the point that he/she practically it clear that they care more about ethnic cleansing then whale saving. You see, the lesson to be learned from this example is that people with the name info are not always useful for information and that you should never bring race into environmentalism unless you like goal derailment.

well that was my 2 cents on ladybuggin reference. She might as well admit she's been reading the blog. I wouldn't be surprised if she was Harryhenry or the numerous childish people who want the blog to stop but can't name a single good reason why.

It had to start over from scratch, but it's back up to the forth spot (that includes two redundant YouTube links). Also, with the exception of the links going to the official IG home page or official YouTube page, every other link is one with negative views towards IG for several pages. Even the official IMDB page (result #5, just after this blog) pokes fun at him using the word "fustrated".

Google almost anyone else and you won't come up with so many negative results. Hell, Google "Hitler" and the first page will have less negative preview text than Bores.

  28. This Guru Larry sockpuppet thing has made me realize there's a lot of fake accounts surrounding IG.

BatDan has had several accounts mimicking him, probably the same person over and over. I've had someone pretending to be me on Steam, and with fake email accounts. I've received emails from a fake James Rolfe and a fake Chris Bores, both from the same person judging from the messages. We're constantly having 'anonymous' trolls that are probably people who already know. There was the fake Linda Bores, and even the 'real' LadyBuggin very well might be fake. She's pretended to be Bores himself, and was caught red-handed. Then there's the sockpuppet accounts Bores used in an attempt to praise himself incognito.

What does all this accomplish? Does anyone really think they're clever because they can pose as someone else on the internet?

    1. I find it rather fitting, considering we're dealing with someone known for lies and a distorted view of reality.

    2. And the fake Guru Larry here is also trying to look innocent by tersely saying he's stumped by LarryBundyJr's messages (which you can easily prove is coming from the real guy by his following of thousands of subscribers and his YT partnership).

I would be skeptical of anyone that claims to be a known figure connected to IG on here, even if it's LadyBuggin.

  29. So, has anyone here heard about that Yanama jerk? He made some Super Mario World hack, then told people he was dying of leukemia to draw attention to it. Turns out he's a rotten liar. And some fairly well-known people advertised it as well before the truth came out... ProtonJon and Raocow did Let's Plays of it, and it was even featured on Blistered Thumbs.

I mean, wow. Faking leukemia. What. A. Dick. Reminds me a lot of Bores, lying and deceiving anyone he can to get to the top. Geez...

    1. Did he believe nobody would find out or what oO ?

Well, I guess it's the fault of the people who bought this story. I don't think romhacks would be your primary interest if you're suffering from a terminal illness.

    2. @Doresh
Well technically anything could be your primary interest when your dying. The story was probably that he spent like the last months or two working on his romhack only then did he find out he was 'dying' and wanted people to play his romhack before he died.

On a suspicious o meter its not very suspicious. If a creator was dying then who wouldn't want to see their last creation be successful? As with all stories like this, the fault should go to the conman who should have advertised his product in different way. The people who got conned had no Idea they were being conned.

    3. Leukemia doesn't strike me as a form of illness that just surprises you 2 months before it's going to kill you.
I'm not even sure if you're even in the condition to program anything if the illness has reached such a late stadium.

And lastly: If you have leukemia, wouldn't you use the internet to ask for possible bone marrow donators Oo ?

Then again, maybe I'm just paranoid after this "fake liver transplant casting show" incident in the Netherlands a while ago. Using a supposed illness in a rather unorthodox way just raises my alarm bells.

With the US health care system so costly that most people wouldn't even dare to get themselves checked up, I wouldn't be surprised if he found out that he was dying 2 months before. The problem isn't that its suspicious its that the media spends more time covering the cases of scam than the cases where the person did die but had a hell of a time before they did. For every incident like this one, there's probably 20 more where the person got what they wanted and died shortly after.

I think this is a good time to bring up that story about that dying kid who got to see that Pixar movie and died about two days later. Yeah, there's assholes in the world but we shouldn't let that screw over the people who really did deserve that last favor.

    5. About your point of blaming the conman, that's totally true, Blame the Conman, not the people who got Conned to be used.

But try to tell that to a certain scumbags.

    7. @Mr.Kill Ultra:

Are there no appeals for donation in the USA Oo ?

The dying kid had a simple, innocent wish. Conmen usually use their "dying wish" for fame and profit.

I'm also pretty sure that everyone with a serious illness has medical documents and/or a doctor to back up his claims. Proof kinda beats trust here.

    8. In this case sure, they probably should have checked. But odds are they actually knew the guy so they probably believed it to be true. He first announced it on a forum. Dozens of people didn't bother to check. The only way people found out was by stalking his facebook page and finding out he's not dead yet.

Besides, how would you go about asking for this clearance without looking like a jackass. Would it be something along the lines of "I'll do that let's play as soon as you drop dead"? or "I'll do that let's play but I need proof first"?. The problem with this one is that the let's play isn't that bad of a request. Its not like it'll take serious time and money. This wish isn't like any other person's dying wish.

Hell this didn't happen once on that same forum. It happened twice. Its way too easy to con such deaths because no one wants to ask for a medical certificate. It's also difficult to share such certificates over the internet. Asking someone to do that is like asking someone to brag about the fact they're dying.

For what its worth though, Shit does happen and people who are really dying should get their last humble wish (emphasis on humble). Its a shame that cons like this are so easy to pull.

    9. Asking for clearance would be easy: "There've been a couple of terminal illness scams in the past, so I'm sure you'll understand that I need some kind of proof."

And the internet is generally full of people who scam people with fake emails and such. People should've been more careful.

Heck, real-life has enough liars, be it fake mechanics or fundraisers.

  30. IG uploaded another video. Just the results of the previous contest giving away a TMNT comic book and some mousepads. Nothing too spectacular. He also said that he is working on an HD revision of History of Video Games parts 2B and 3, as well as part 6. I wonder when these will come out? He said "soon", but knowing him "soon" could mean anything from a week to a few months.

  35. Reactions from watching Part 2B HD revision:
    - Satan showing up: It wasn't necessary or funny the first time.
    - Sees "Shootout" scene - Wow, it's even worse than the original scene.
    - Sees "Dogfight" scene - Two things: 1.) It's pronounced aircraft, not "aircrafts". 2.) According to BatDan and DLAbaoaqu, those aren't Nazis. The Nazis weren't around during World War I, and they didn't fly bi-planes in World War II.
    - Sees "Shooting Gallery" scene: A little bit more condensed than the original, but not any better. Wait, what's that on-screen text say? "WARNING: OBJECTS MAY APPEAR MORE BORING THAN THEY ALREADY ARE"? Boring? Oh the irony!
    - Wait a minute, why didn't he show the "Prehistoric Safari" overlay? It was the first overlay he showed in the original part 2B.
    - Sees IG trying to turn Odyssey off while HAL shocks him with electricity: Ugh, it wasn't funny the first time, it's not funny now! Also, wouldn't any sane person use some rubber gloves to avoid an electric shock?
    - The Odyssey sold poorly because there was no point system or rules? Uhh, no. It was the first home video game system ever created. Video games were still primitive; people back then had no idea what video games even were. Why did he add that stupid comment? (Yes, he added it since it wasn't in the original).
    - When he announces Pong is next, he holds up the ball sprite instead of the console: Uhh, okay.
Wow, this video is worse than the original. It's almost as bad as part 2A. I guess I could congratulate IG for releasing the video so quickly though, but I don't know if I should.
