A New DVD for Nobody To Buy, Now With More 80s Stupidity

The end of 2012 is quickly approaching. It’s been an interesting year for Bores, his attempts at trying to get better have fallen flat in many different ways, and he continues to show that he’s a massive hypocrite that will do anything for attention. Some people are starting  to believe he’s not taking himself seriously now, but I really doubt it, especially when he’s given us one final “gift” for the year.

The I Rate the 80s DVD! Wanted by two people, you can now enjoy his terrible “documentary” attempts on your TV! See him fail at economics as he wonders why Yummy Mummy and “gimmicky” Kool-Aid flavors were pulled off shelves. Marvel at him eating 20 year old cereal and dressing up like Skeletor. Watch as he wrestles a toy Japanese wrestler and try to pass off that he has multiple Colorforms sets when he really only has one.

According to him, the DVD contains the 11 episodes of “Season 1” (for someone who’s all about American TV, he really loves his British brevity), a 10 minute documentary (where I imagine he once again pretends he’s being interviewed and try to claim that what he does is harder than it really is), bloopers, an extended scene (just one scene, singular) and more. It can be yours for $13.99. What’s that? You’d rather take that $14 dollars and invest in a failing company? I won’t stop you.

His news post about the DVD has this bit, “your in luck”. You’re 34 years old Chris, and you still can’t tell the difference between “your” and “you’re”? Jeez…

That’s not all, Bores posted a new video about it. A three and a half minute excerpt of the DVD documentary.
Since it’s not the full “documentary“, I’ll just give the big details.

As you might expect, Bores is pretending he’s being interviewed.
He mentions The Breakfast Rant, and believes the idea didn’t work as he pigeonholed himself into only reviewing breakfast. That and it was a fucking stupid idea and its only contribution was the hilarious line “breakfast is ruined!” He also says “breakfast” really weird.
He does bring up the name’s comparison to VH1’s I Love the 80s, but says his is different because it has humor and it’s a documentary. I Love the 80s had humor too, the people talking about the 80s were comedians, actors, musicians, and they were all making jokes about the subjects.

He also brings up the year-long hiatus, apparently it took him that long to think of “actually rating stuff” and “interacting with the items”. The latter he’s already been doing on his other show, so how it took him that long… fuck it.
Then he brings up that like Family Guy, he’s purposely putting in references very few people will get. Doesn’t help when most of your audience consists of little kids! Then again, the average Family Guy viewer probably wouldn’t get even the most obvious of references.
That’s the end of the preview.

Considering that nobody has uploaded the three IG seasons online to other sites, I don’t see this getting uploaded anywhere. I hope someone does do this though (not BitTorrent as NOBODY will seed it).

I also see that the IG 5th anniversary sale is still going on. He said before that once an item is gone, it’s gone. Seeing as everything can still be added to the cart, nobody is biting. I still believe this sale is him trying to get rid of it, along with all the contests.

On the front page, under “latest reviews”, he claims the latest Neo review was on Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse. That’s false advertising as it’s not a review, it’s an interview about it. Those are entirely different things. Unless he plans to review it, then there’s no reason to put it there.

Oh yeah, and he did another Skylanders video. Even made a damn playlist of it on YouTube. Expect more of these boring videos then.
On the bright side, his Hunger Games video with the fake thumbnail isn’t getting a massive amount of views. In fact, it has less than the Colorforms video and Lego Batman 2 video (all posted around the same time).

Unless he uploads something else of importance, the next post will be the Worst Moments list.

  1. I noticed the documentary video includes the "Take on Me" scene with the music intact. Looks like A-ha has somebody to sue.

  2. Normally I don't bother to watch IG's videos any-more, but I decided to have a look at his X-Men video yesterday. The most immediate thought is that Bores is now making fun of himself; either that or he's making it stupidly easy for me to. A lot of the content of his videos come across as unnecessary, like him playing all the X-Men. It doesn't seem like it would be in there for any other reason than to be made fun of.

Speaking of, it's been a while since the Third Rate Gamer made a video, isn't it?

    1. yeah I don't think he's doing anymore. It's probably because Irate Gamer is being boring and a boring third rate gamer video isn't funny.

    2. He's mentioned losing interest, so yeah, unless something comes along and revitalizes his love of parodying one of the biggest hacks on the internet, it's safe to say TRG's gone the way of Irritated Gamer.

  4. Can't wait for the 2012 list of worst IG moments! Bet Bores' crap about Nintendo being "kiddy" at E3 will top the list, along with his Skylanders obsession (and I thought I had an obsession with collecting old video game systems and watching the Hub TV network! :-O) and that desperate attempt to get subscribers James Rolfe lost due to people accusing the latter of being an "e-beggar".

    1. That video WILL be the worst moment, the amount of ignorance and hypocrisy he showed was amazing even for him.

  5. I'm surprised IG hasn't uploaded the revised version of History of Video Games episode 3 about Pong yet. He did say in an update video a few weeks ago he wanted to get it out before the year was over in order to start 2013 "fresh". Let's see if he keeps his promise.
Concerning the documentary, it's boring (nothing else to say about it). Also, who really would want to buy a DVD with inaccurate facts and nonsensical sketches about a series that is technically labeled as a "documentary"? It's like IG thinks DVDs are the best thing ever and therefore making a lot of them will earn him revenue, but the ones he puts out are horrible and never sell well. Not to mention, isn't it possible for him to get sued or something if the DVD infringes copyright claims from other companies? Oh well, let IG do what he wants. See how it affects him in the future.
I'm really looking forward to the Worst IG/CB Moments list, BatDan! Good luck on it!

    1. That would be pretty good if someone pretended to be a die-hard fan and won it in a contest. Just imagine it, pretending to be a fan, despising other reviewers, being nice to LadyBuggin and gushing Chris with praise, only to then finally reveal yourself after "luckily" winning a contest and burning the prize.

      That would be cool. hmmm...

But I doubt anyone would buy the DVD, thereby giving Bores money, just to burn it.

  8. Hooray! More stupidity from the peanut gallery! Also, the world is ending tomorrow, think y'all could possibly oh... I don't know talk on some AVGN stuff for a change? I mean right now, IG is better than AVGN by MILES. Also, buying a DVD just to set it on fire? So you'd pay what? $10 for the privilege? If you're gonna do that, there's cheaper alternative, not that any of you are smart enough to pirate his work anyway.

Says the guy who says we're AVGN fanboys. This is like gun control activists asking gun owners to be irresponsible so they can complain about it.

    4. "there's cheaper alternative, not that any of you are smart enough to pirate his work anyway."

  10. He deliberately puts in references people won't get? So, he's fully aware the 12-year-olds that watch his show won't get the reference to Herculoids in the X-Men review (I mean, I'm 20, and I didn't get it)? Well, imagine that. Anyway, I'm posting my worst moments in parts because of the arbitrary 4,106 character limit on Blogger.
    15. The Revisions of HOVG Part 2. It takes some real hubris to not only ignore the people calling out his mistakes, but somehow make the original attempt worse. He knows where his priorities are if he'd rather add effects than fix errors.
    14. The review of Dead or Alive 5. Some people can do improvised reviews. Bores is not one of them.
    13. The review of Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. Not understanding that the game is part of a new continuity rather than a reboot of G1, flip-flopping on not wanting to see Dark of the Moon, and the whole bit with Megatron (I'm also retracting that statement about not blaming him for the scale error, since Doresh pointed out most of the robots in the cartoons are about as tall as a Bayformer when transformed).
    12. The Colorforms Irate the 80s. Research failure, inane sketches, trying to make it look like he has more sets than he does, and apparently being unaware the brand is still being made; and thriving to boot. I also haven't forgotten that bit about him wanting to do an episode about Transformers G1 but claiming it was "too expensive."
    11. Fairchild Channel F HOVG. 14 months of waiting for just 5 minutes ; the same problems with the Odyssey about not considering that it was released decades ago (and is likely an antique by today's standards); and bad sketches. I'll have 10-6 up in a minute.

    1. 10. Silver Surfer Irate Gamer. One of only two regular Irate Gamer episodes; covering a game already done by a certain other reviewer (one that just put out an episode on Atari Sports games); and furthering his status a Gary Stu by taking on a Pixel Demon that is neither pixelated nor demonic.
      9. E-begging spoof. So much for "I haven't watched him in two years." This is just bandwagoning at this point.
      8. All the E3 videos. Do I even need to explain these?
      7. The Hunger Games rant. He doesn't know what he's talking about, panning a good movie for no other reasons than his perceived vertigo not enjoying the shaky cam. I think he probably shouldn't be playing games without reading that doctor's warning they put in every one then. Also, once again, he didn't read the book.
      6. Real Real Gaming. More like Fake Fake Gaming. At least the Mario Sketches technically followed the rules of their games (I didn't even know about the fishing Lakitu trap before).

      Delete
    2. 5. X-Men Review. This was the regular Irate Gamer episode I hated most this year. This whole 15-character one-man show he puts on is just sad (DLAboaqu's riff even pointed out he couldn't even get LadyBuggin777 to play Storm), and beating up the X-Men is just pure Stu.
      4. TMNT Comics Irate the 80s. The negative review of the NES TMNT arcade game is what made me hate the Irate Gamer, so I was less than pleased when he started doing videos on other TMNT works. He didn't really understand the Mirage comic, but praised the Archie one, and also apparently doesn't know about the new TMNT show that just came out this year (I asked if he did, but no one ever got back to me, not even LadyBuggin777 mocking me).
      3. Praising Ninja Gaiden III. Much like how he angered Tekken fans with his negative review of Tekken 6, Ninja Gaiden fans were similarly displeased with him praising a lousy game. My theory is that Tecmo knew the game was getting panned and they sent Bores a copy knowing they could dupe him.
      2. The Skylanders obsession. I have been reluctant to play Skylanders, and Bores' constant videos on it have done nothing to change my mind. Especially because of my top moment:
      1. Repeatedly insisting Nintendo is kiddy. This is my worst moment; because Nintendo is all about making games for everyone: not just kids, but for their parents and older siblings. It's clear Bores has never heard of Multiple Demographic Appeal; which is what Nintendo does. They brought the term Nintendo Hard to the English language, and continue to be popular. See you around, Dan.

  11. Bat Dan: (where I imagine he once again pretends he’s being interviewed and try to claim that what he does is harder than it really is)

There are some things that I can understand about having a poor schedule because of life pressures but never does he give any impression that he has a good excuse. I know how hard it can be to film stuff which is why my own videos keep getting postponed, including because my main helper is now just getting out of the hospital(Is life trying to make my hobbies not possible?) but I'm honest about why. I also only have a baker's dozen of videos so far and not sure when I can film the 6 - 7 I keep trying to do.

    1. Yes I'm aware that video production is difficult. I learned some in high school (rusty as hell now). But as you've said, Chris has given no excuse for his laziness. He claims it's effects, but most people have debunked that, noting how easy a number of them really are.

    2. I know it just frustrates me sometime every time he brags about how much work he does and see nothing ever come of it. I do cooking related teaching videos where I have to show how to do it and I can't shoot that stuff all by myself(Last time I tried I burned something I've never managed to burn before or since, cheese sauce)and it helps to make sure I get the footage I need(Retakes when cooking can get expensive, fast).

  12. Regarding the debate about IG vs AVGN, I want to chime in and say that yes: AVGN is on a bit of a low. His Atari Sports video was a bit rubbish (although Ghosts 'n' Goblins was good, minus the ending).

Still, he's going to be on a bit of a low since he's just finished a film - which, going by the trailer, should be pretty good. The problem is that Chris' videos are ALWAYS of this mediocre standard, complete with really fake rage.

Other than the finale for his story arc (which will no doubt deal with the giant HAL robot, the Pixel Demon, and the Shadow Overlord), I expect a belated NEO episode on Wreck-It Ralph for Wii, Nintendo DS, and Nintendo 3DS.

    1. And maybe NEO reviews on the PS Vita and Wii U, knowing how late he is after games and systems are released here in North America.

150,000, actually. He took quite a plunge when YouTube did their dead accounts surge.

Not that it matters, after all, subscribers mean fuck all now. That's why YouTube removed the top 100 list. It's kinda like TheWillofDC, he has over 250,000 subscribers, yet he is lucky to get 20,000 views.

Bores may get a handful of subscribers, but the far majority of his subs are useless, which is frequently proven by his views.

  25. The saddest thing about his current subs is to make it back to his original 150,000 subscribers, at his current rate its going to take him just over two years and three months to do so.
