Another DVD already? Pay Money for Inaccurate History! Plus, New Painful Fan Art

Here's a thought Bores, maybe you should clear out all the unwanted DVDs you have already before adding more and more of them? Maybe hold more contests giving them away for free since most of your fans would probably have to steal their parents credit cards to get them.

As you can probably tell from the title, he put out another DVD. History of Video Games "The Silver Age". *sighs* Chris, you realize that the Silver Age would refer to the third generation right? NES, Master System, Atari 7800. The Golden Age would refer to the era of the Atari 2600, Intellivison and so on. What your DVD covers is even older than the Golden Age, I wouldn't know what to refer to it as the Ages of Man start at Golden. Though knowing him, he probably got the name from comic books.
So calling the era of Pong, Computer Space and the Fairchild Channel F the Silver Age is horribly inaccurate. Unless he confused "predecessor" and "successor" again. This wouldn't surprise me.

So, what's on the DVD?
Parts 1-5 (which is six videos when you remember Part 2 is in two parts... unless he merged it for the DVD). A horrid value if you ask me.
A 15 minute documentary, I imagine it's the same thing that I recapped nearly two years ago. http://irategamersucks.blogspot.com/2011/03/historically-bad-making-of-or-interview.html
Bloopers because WACKY (it's been a long time since he's put out a blooper reel on YouTube, I wonder if it's still the same "stopping in the middle of a line" nonsense).
And deleted scenes, which I'm hoping were just stupid sketches and not actual history because leaving out history... boy what a hack.

I love how he advertises that it covers from 1961-1977, like that's a huge amount of time. Never mind that in the first video he went from '61 to '71. Sadly I'm sure someone will fall for this, like some Square-Enix fans fell for Final Fantasy: All the Bravest (look it up).

How much is Bores charging this time? Despite having less content than all his other DVDs, he prices it around the same, $15 dollars. Oh wait that's on sale, the regular price is $18 dollars. Double Fine's new game is out now, it's called The Cave, it's only $15 dollars on PSN, XBLA, Nintendo Network and PC. That is a better investment.
Hell, Wii U owners can get Balloon Fight for 30 cents right now. That's a better use of money.

You know, Bores has never capitalized on any of his possible catchphrases or characters. He never sold merch with them on it.
It's obvious Bores is doing all this for money, so where's the catchphrase shirts? The character shirts? Maybe a Wilson, I mean, Wilkins shirt, it's not like you'd get in trouble. ScrewAttack certainly didn't when they sold a shirt with Frog from Chrono Trigger on it and claimed it was a different character.
But no, just a generic ugly shirt with his logo on it.

Also, Bores updated his site to mention that his New Super Mario Bros. 2 review is out. Rather "The New Super Mario Bros 2". I'm beginning to think he's doing that on purpose just to annoy me.

That's all for now. I'm going to pour one out for THQ. They may have not been perfect, but Saints Row and Darksiders were all kinds of fun, and millions enjoyed their WWE titles.

EDIT: Oh look at that, a contest giving away the DVD. What a surprise.
In the video, he notes that he calls it the "Silver Age" because the "Golden Age" comes after it. You moron! That is not how that works! To put it another way, Golden Age comes first, Silver Age comes second, Bronze Age comes third. First, second, third place. How is that so hard?

He also added new fan art to his site. ... Joy. Hmmm, you know I think I can cover it here.
Oh man... Bores completely screwed the order now. He put his title cards in the fan art section now. Tell you what, I'll go by page number and picture to make things easier.

Page 4, Picture 10: Let's start off with a photoshop disaster. I hope you like shitty looking NES games. We get the cover, the back, and the cartridge.
The cover shows the title "The Irate Gamer Game". Say, remember that? How it got re-invented multiple times and never got anywhere outside of concept art? I suspect that those people were scam artists. The picture is Bores in front of fire, because his fans are just as unoriginal as he is.
The back cover contains a story description that I can barely read. It's tiny white text on a black background (already a bad sign) but it's also on top of Bores in a yellow shirt holding a Zapper. That's appealing.
Below the white text is yellow text describing what's in the game.
"Play as Chris Bores, Satan, Joey, and starting for the first time Ronnie" That last one sounds really awkward. Also, is it me or is the idea of playing as Satan really fucked up?
"Armed with a Zapper and a Game Genie to face the shit ahead" Did the artist not realize how stupid this sounded? If he has a Game Genie in the game, then the game is too fucking easy. I would think this was making fun of him if this wasn't so terrible.
"4 Megs of non-stop action featuring 26 levels of fuck" Each level is 5 minutes of Bores laughing at the fact you just bought this game.
The cartridge shows Mega Man sprite Bores in front of fire, and the game is just "The Irate Gamer". It also breaks the rules of NES cover art by having a cartridge that doesn't match with the box. As soon as I say this, I know my readers are going to point out games that don't have a matching cartridge label and box.

Page 4, Picture 11: ... Well, this is different. I know I've made fun of Bores' weight before, and I apologize for that, it was out of line.  There's waaaay fatter people out there. However, I didn't think I would see this picture come to be.
What we have is an overly obese Irate Gamer, with a word balloon saying "Face it, candy is ruined!" The screwed-up side of deviantArt is leaking onto the site... besides Karbia.
One thing I can give it is that shows some effort, as in someone took time to actually draw an extremely fat Irate Gamer. ... This isn't fan art is it? I think the use of "x is ruined" gave that away.

Page 4, Picture 12: Chris, what have I said about putting vomit-inducing images on the site? This is unacceptable!
More shitty sprite work, more MS paint, you need to show some standards!
The picture shows IG holding two dildos (that's what they look like, I'm sorry) firing what looks like a lime-strawberry milkshake at the Pixel Demon. Other characters are firing stuff too, including Fire Flower Mario, Simon Belmont with a flame whip, Super Sonic, Dig Dug, and Bill Rizer & Mega Man standing on the body of a brown cow. What hurts it is the background, I think it's meant to be lava.

... Here's a drinking game for you. When browsing through his fan art, take a drink every time you see a picture with a fire background, or something similar to fire.

Page 4, Picture 13: Paper Bores? It looks like paper cut-outs (even though it's not) as Bores is holding up a Shy Guy while standing in front of another one. A tribute to Super Mario Bros. 2. Not really too much to say about this one.

Page 4, Picture 14: Are you tired of Mega Man sprites? TOO BAD! Here's another one. But this time it's Haunted Investigators related. ... Someone actually made Haunted Investigators fan art. This is Johnny Awesome again isn't it? The sprite work is really bad, way worse than what Karbia does.
In fact, I'm pretty sure that's Karbia's IG sprite. The other is Alan and wow I just... I've seen enough.

I know people are asking about the next Redux Recap. It all depends on what Bores does next, and I also don't like doing too many posts at once. I did that years ago and the quality suffered. Be patient.

  1. Yep, not much new here. I'm beginning to think Bores is simply trying to make as much money as he can, now that his partnership is gone (or so I've been lead to believe).

On another note, what are everyone's thoughts on the latest Nintendo Direct? I'm pretty pumped right now, I gotta say. Really curious to see how SMT X FE turns out.

    1. My mind is still trying to process the sheer awesome of Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem. Good thing I have a Wii U already.

I also have to give props to Monolith Soft's new game (looks like Xenoblade 2) and Yoshi's Epic Yarn (not the official name, but it's the same artstyle).

    2. Yeah. Monolith's new game looks totally badass, and I think Yarn Yoshi seems like a prime opportunity for the system to flex some of its graphical muscle. I'm also pretty hyped for Wonderful 101. That game just looks like an absolute joy to play.

Also, so jealous of all those awesome Wii U games... I don't have one yet. Too expensive for me. And then Earthbound/Mother 2 is getting released on the Wii U VC in Japan... Sigh...

    2. Well everyone is fucking up their best franchises lately. Activison didn't fix the lag compensation, EA is making C&C online and making the same grind heavy piece of shit as Tiberium alliance and THQ well... you know...

How can they let such talented people and ideas get wasted by changing the concept and design of the game? How can you make a final Fantasy game that doesn't even let you cast specific spells or even have a plot!?

I sure hope they churned the game for a budget of $10k. Anymore money than that would mean that they don't understand good game design... =(

Yeah, they are fucking up pretty bad these days. Still, at least those people are releasing SOMETHING. I don't get how Square Enix can release a "game" where you need to buy half the content. DLC is one thing, but come on.

      @Doresh

All I can hope for is that they're at least punished a bit.

I do agree about the Mario Party series, but what exactly didn't you like about Donkey Kong Country Returns? I know the game can be frustrating, and the motion controls don't always help, but I personally had a good time.

*Lack of Kremlings or any other recurring DK enemies
*Lack of any playable Kong members besides Donkey and Diddy
*Diddy being reduced to a power up
*No support Kong family members aside from Cranky
      *No water levels
      *No ice levels
      *No animal buddies besides Rambi
*Donkey and Diddy not having their vastly superior Donkey Kong 64 voices
*Overworlds not explored in the same ways as the older games
*Lack of variety in Bonus levels
*Co-Op being just a ploy to quickly drain lives (why shared lives?)
*I found the concept of blowing to be very tedious and unnecessary

    9. Regarding:

*Lack of Kremlings or any other recurring DK enemies
*Lack of any playable Kong members besides Donkey and Diddy
*No support Kong family members aside from Cranky

These are more likely to be Rare properties. The Kremlings and many side Kong characters are theirs.

      Delete
    10. I swear, DKCR was a beast to fully complete. People have asked me what the hardest part of it was, and all I say is "FLOATING FRUIT IN THE SKY".

The toughest part was completing the time trial, thinking I had lost. I stared at the gold timer, reading 1:04:00. Then my time for the course appeared. 1:03:95. Never did I scream so loudly with joy in my life.

      Delete
    11. My opinions, on best DKC to worst, 1, 3, 2, R. All good games, but Returns felt more like a reboot to the series than an actual sequel.

Kremlings are now Nintendo properties. After Microsoft bought Rare, anything Donkey Kong related was given to Nintendo. Kremlings were in DK: King of Swing and it's sequel on the DS, and Mario Super Sluggers featured Kritters and K. Rool as playable characters. Heck, Donkey Kong Barrel Blast, released three years prior, was more faithful to the Donkey Kong canon than Returns was.

      Delete
    12. @BigStoneRocks Nah, they still have the rights to other characters.

Seriously, though. Anyone who doesn't play the game over such minor complaints is doing themselves a HUGE disservice.

      Delete
    13. I'd probably rank them R, 2, 1, 3. I liked 3 well enough, but I got the first ending within the day I bought it, it didn't pose much of a challenge until the lost world, Kiddy was nowhere near as good a sidekick as Diddy or Dixie, it didn't have Rambi OR Winky/Rattly, the music just wasn't as good as in any of the other games, including Returns, and most of the levels were rather sedated in color. 1 was the one I grew up with, so it holds a special place in my heart, but I don't think the levels and bosses showed quite as much variety as in 2. 2 improved on 1 in almost every category, with the exception of having to pay for everything, which sucked. Returns had solid level variety with beautiful graphics (even if they weren't completely revolutionary, but you can't expect them to reinvent the wheel every time), had the ball-busting difficulty of 2 without the life and save point starvation, had overall tighter controls, a soundtrack that, while borrowing from the first game, actually had GOOD remixes and still some solid original pieces, and a solid co-op mode that game some of the leeway of the newer 2d Marios (You could revive your partner as long as you had lives) while still punishing carelessness (hence the shared lives).

  5. Calling this Silver Age is a bit weird considering he's starting at the beginning. Heck, there aren't enough Ages for all proper console generations, so he shouldn't just skip one.

And yeah, he probably got that from comic books, since 1961-1977 is right at the end of the Silver and the start of the Bronze Age.
Suffice to say, I don't think he knows what "Silver Age" actually means...

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. If he did get it from comic books then he should be calling it the "Gold Age" of Video Games as that's how it works for comics. Good age is the start, Silver age was when it came into it's own and then Bronze age after the death of Gwen Stacy and so on.

  11. $15 for a bad interpretation of video game history? Chris is really desperate now. I'm not sure if he lost his partnership, but I believe it if he did. I'm trying not to think about that. So far, it's been a slow year, though the New Super Mario Bros. 2 review did come out a bit sooner than the Bud Bowl Irate the 80s did last year. Still, that isn't saying much given that he barely talked about the game and will probably take months to get out a video less than 15 minutes when Channel Awesome contributors can get one that can be up to 45 minutes in a week. Anyway, I got some new DVDs I can watch today. See you later, Dan.

Now if someone were willing to sacrifice $15 to see if he used the stolen footage, then let the owners of said footage know it's been stolen, well... I admit I'm a fairly optimistic person, but that'd probably get something done.

But no. He just keeps on trucking, making his movie, making his videos, and all that other shit. Because despite all his grandstanding, Bores is a total nothing. Even more of a nothing than he was when he was the 52nd most subscribed channel on YouTube. And the same goes for Bores' new best butt buddies. I'm not saying James Rolfe is infallible, or a God, or whatever the fan haters think I think of him, but the fact is that all that he's done means more to more people than all of these douchebags combined could ever hope to amount to.

I'm not sure, but given by the lack of comments that point out Arch being a dumbass, Arch did the smart thing and stopped.

Alot of people are campaigning and acting like IG is innocent in all this. All it started with the cheetah men scandal (which backfired because that made people donate even more) and escalated with the AVGN movie. Apparently the evidence is a fake IMBD page that lists the budget as less than the donation amount. Seeing as how Asa was the first to point that out and conveniently ignore the fact that its an editable source, he probably did it.

Asa "allied" with Irate Gamer when IG made the spoof video. Because if its anything Asa is good at, its being a hypocrite who allies with other hypocrites when convenient. Its not like Asa actually like Irate Gamer (he doesn't) he just wants to make AVGN look like the loser in all this.

    18. I would have said his R.O.B. remark was relating to Silent Rob. Then again that's probably too clever for Bores so I'd say it's his counter charge to plagiarism.

This is the problem with Chris; he still believes that people are gunning for him on the charge of copying AVGN. Which frankly hasn't been the case for most of the people who call Chris out on things since 2009. No, the reason why people are ragging on Chris is because he is unfunny, gets his facts wrong repeatedly, is a bad actor, has an ego the size of Texas and hypes his own product up as though it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, has an atrocious work ethic which leads to sporadic bursts of short videos which feel lacklustre, and to cap it all off he has the gall to charge people money for a 15+ minute documentary with some minor bloopers. Heck, Ashen's DVD had three hours of footage plus 20 minutes of extra stuff (including unseen reviews) and had a lanyard for less than what Bore's charged for.

    3. Negative is a relative term and quite frankly if you want to say this blog is negative, then you obviously don't know why and have been taking too many asa pills. Assuming that you're not taking Asa pills then you're clearly just judging the blog (and everyone on it) by its title like a dozen other people we get every week. Either way its become the equivalent of walking into a jewish town and telling everyone that their beliefs suck and they're stupid money hoarding bastards who need to go away.

We're sick of it and if you can't even resist the urge to judge someone after less than a months worth of research then you are certainly a troll who's only doing this for the reaction.

      Delete
    4. I'll give you points for being grammatically correct and not devolving into slurs and the like, but if you're really NOT a troll, give us more detail.

WHY is this blog negative? Did you even read it, or did you go to the newest article just for the sole purpose of saying this?

Honestly, there's nothing wrong with stating an opinion, provided you're civil about it (which you were for the most part), but if you don't want to be labeled as a troll, you'll have to explain yourself.

      Delete
    5. @Skyrunner
my problem is with the word used. Negative and positive are words used to describe an abnormal outlook. By saying we're negative, he/she is implying that they're normal and that our opinions are abnormally depressing. This causes an implication that a normal person would be okay with what bore's is doing and accept his lulzy behavior wholesale.

Of course since his statement is so damn short it could be anything... even a boat! I always wanted one of those!

    6. I have to give you guys credit, you managed to type out several paragraphs in reply to FOUR worded comment I left, Im not sure if that's impressive or sad. Though Im sure you lot have gotten plenty of practice when it comes to dealing with ''trolls''(not calling myself a troll but I think you get what I mean).

So it would seem there's been some confusion to post I left and what it actually means. I didn't think I would have to explain myself because to be frank I thought the comment spoke for itself really, but seeing as one of you managed to say my post was the equivalent of bashing the entire Jewish religion(don't know what sort of bizzarro world one must live in to come up with that conclusion), I guess Id better explain it:

By negative I meant, the entire blog is always being negative about one guy, rarely is there ever any positivity here(maybe in the comments but I don't have the time to read them.) Heck, just read the name of this entire blog ''Irate Gamer SUCKS'' do I need to spell it out anymore?

I'm sure I'm going to be called a ''troll'' or an IrateGamer fanboy, but I don't care, I just feel this blog is far too negative. Now I'm sure you'll say ''But there's nothing positive about the Irate Gamer'' I'm not going to say you have to like the Irate Gamer, but it's been 6 years, do you not think you have made your point with this blog? The hatred for the Irate Gamer is no longer relevant and necessary. It's time to move on.

That's all I have to say, good day.

      I await your replies.

    7. "my post was the equivalent of bashing the entire Jewish religion"
and you didn't even fully read my comment.

      "but I don't care"
      "I await your replies"
That makes no sense. You don't want to be a troll but you want attention.

"but it's been 6 years, do you not think you have made your point with this blog"
And if we did make the point then so what? Move on while IG still does his stupid shit unabated?

"maybe in the comments but I don't have the time to read them"
The point of my comment is that you do not understand the culture, it was not a godwin's law argument. It's a simple and easy to understand argument. The argument is that people who do not understand what the subject matter is shouldn't be demanding changes.

    8. I'm only going to respond to the last two point since the first two points you brought up were both screw-ups of mine.

So onto your first point(technically third):
This blog has made it's point, there's nothing else for this blog prove, it's already got hundreds of people giving thumbs down and saying the same generic things like ''AVGN rip-off'' ''AVGN came first'' on his videos so even if this blog ceased to exist, people would still give Bores crap. So I don't really see the point of it anymore.

      As for your final point:
I've been following this blog for a couple of years now(I used to enjoy readng it) , just never felt the need to post anything. I'm not just saying this, I'm sure if there was some way to prove who views this blog, I'd appear somewhere on that list. I'm not judging this blog just by its name, I've read the majority of the articles on this website. Now though as I've grown older and wiser, I realised this blog is unnecessarily hating on one man(and even his fans, this article for example, how the entire ending portion of the article is spent laughing and mocking at fan art. I have nothing against critiquing art but I feel the art isn't be critiqued here, its being ridiculed. Im sure Bores is proud of any fan art, as would I, no matter how bad it looks, if someone put the effort time, no matter how little, to draw me some fanart, I'd appreciate it).

Again, I await your replies, because I have nothing better to do on my Saturday night.

    5. Hi long time reader, first time poster.
On this negative kick that seems to be going, I have to agree with Rodney and Brandon. This is a really negative place. Let me first say I love this blog. I think its the funniest thing ever, but sometimes the comments and actions done by followers of this blog is kinda harsh. You (collectively) rag on him for things other than his Irate Gamer persona/everthing else related to it. He had a wedding photography site (or whatever), seprate from his Irate stuff and every went off how it probably 'sucks like his vids, OMG he has his number on there' etc. You make fun of his weight, his fanart, his beleifs, and people who are actively trying to troll him (I remember someone who tried to get info from him or do a fake interview or something to that point) and I'm not saying anyone dispatched someone to do it, but those people post what they do here. You insult him(not his persona) on the regular and get mad when people such as Brandon says not 'oh you guy are AVGN fags' etc but just saying his opinion on this blog as you do to Chris's everyday life. He said it was negative, not this blog sucks, not you guys are troll, and gave an actual response to your comments rather than trololololo(paraphasing). Just saying, also about the word negative it self, not that you thoughts are negative, but you basicly putting down a guy for doing his own thing, you can critic it, but man people who come here basicly say 'Fuck Bores, I hate him, Fatass, Dumbass' etc not constructive criticism just insults. Just Saiyan-jin

      Delete
    6. Oh and as an after thought, I'm not saying everyone who comments here does it. Most comments are just on the vid, the post, or theLadybuggin/Bores craziness, and sometimes just casual chatting. That being said, there are still some here just to hate, and that hate is, at most times, out of line.

      Delete
    7. Yeah I have to agree with the hate part. Some comments do get out of hand (seriously no telling bores to go kill himself m'kay?) but to be honest there's no one who's truly fanatic about their hate. I've expressed comments that bore's is good (and his first few videos were corny good) but its his attitude and inability to keep his fanbase in check that ruins him wholesale. Regardless its always important to remember a rule of the internet, 'never assume someone is doing more than what's immediately apparent'. Just I because regularly post here doesn't mean anything other than I just regularly post here. Likewise just because Rodney says he has nothing do Saturday night doesn't mean that he sitting there at his computer waiting for us to post sitting there like a vegetable. Just because the guys who made negative posts about IG doesn't mean they didn't know any legitimate complaints about him.

As for the Cheetahmen thing, yeah it's a scam but it's Greg Pabich's scam, not James's. The worse James did was fall for Pabich's lies, twice, but at least James isn't making a single cent off it.

      Delete
    2. The way I look at it, to a guy who has paid hundreds of dollars in the past to play rare, shitty video games, 40 bucks for a repo cart that no one else wants to make probably seems like a good deal.

    3. @ lordlaharl

James thought it was a shitty deal too, until Pabich "explained the cost" to him.

He should know better, but no one will tell him without also insulting him and accusing him of several crimes he never committed.

    4. Do we know for a fact that James accepted money to be in the C2 Kickstarter video? In that event, he probably had some responsibility to vet the integrity of the project. Also, was the C2 Kickstarter offer outed as truly dishonest? Like, something where the contributors do not get everything they were promised? Or is it just dubious that the cartridges cost that much?

      Delete
    5. @Harrod
In my opinion, this is the answer/problem outline.

"But Greg is just pocketing the money by making a cheap as nails product and selling it"
Problem: Well if this were case, that would mean we would have to assume that the cost of renting a factory, customizing the manufacturing line, and running it, shipping costs and labor divisions are null. Unless Greg is making the cartridges by hand (and that's doubtful since he had 300+ orders to fill), Greg is obviously using a good portion of the money. Regardless there are so many Kickstarters that if you didn't like this one you could have spent your 200 bucks ensuring you get planetary annihilation or FTL or another really kickass game. KickStarter is about starting a business or a brand, its not a charity.

"But its cheetahmen, its such a bad game that its scam to go buy it"
Problem: 300+ ORDERS! Obviously this can't be AVGN's fault. AVGN said the game sucked and everyone else knows the game sucked. You couldn't have invested money to buy the damn game (and a T-shirt) for 200+ dollars to play something horrible unintentionally. Everyone who knows AVGN would know his review of Cheetahmen. Cheetahmen is a 2 level long game that's shitty, poorly made and no amount of polish will fix that!

"But AVGN is pocketing the money too"
Problem: Uh... so what? AVGN is a smart guy and he knows his Fans are smart too. At best this 'scam' only hit 1% of his fanbase. AVGN has always encouraged his fanbase to not be dumbasses. Hell he even said in his FAQ (the older one) that "If you take my reviews seriously, you are missing the whole point. Think for yourself.". If he's pocketing the money then good for him because that means at least he's making some money from a portion of dumbest idiots in existence.

"The entire deal is a scam!"
Problem: Scam implies that nothing came out of it and Greg didn't do anything. Except Greg stuck up to his end of the deal and gave everything he promised to the letter. Most of the people who bought the Cheetahmen 2 game are the people who are complaining about it now!

Unfortunately, I doubt this will be the last video he makes on the subject. Trust me, this is the best thing that has happened to him in a while, he wont let go.

  37. I'm watching the shout-out video right now. I don't know why, Bores looked and spoke like he was drunk. Least when a TGWTG contributor or James does a video as themselves, they do use a different manner of speaking than their characters. Bores and IG seem almost indistinguishable. I also find it weird that he felt a need to use effects for transitions even in a simple shout-out video. The way he spoke about the "haters" and pointed out Asalieri and Archfiend (I have never heard of this Mr. Weenie Productions before today); he's at least acknowledging the criticism he's getting, though he still seemed indignant about it. Given how I laughed when he claimed he "stayed out of YouTube drama", my claim of him as a candidate for this generation's Ed Wood still stands.

    ReplyDelete

    2. You're right. Depending on how long it takes to get the next video out and how bad it is, I'm considering retiring the Ed Wood hyperbole. What I meant was that both Wood and Bores had their intentions, but their scopes as filmmakers was outweighed by their incompetence as filmmakers. Having said this, Wood was the subject of my favorite Tim Burton movie and Bores may finally slip into obscurity this year.

      Delete
    3. Almost indistinguishable? The Irage Gamer is a hateful, lecherous creature who only causes pain, suffering and death to his friends and video game characters for no good reason.

Like you said, there's nothing indistinguishable between Bores and IG and that's a very scary thing. If that's really how he acts in real life he's a horrible person.

When I look at James Rolfe I don't see AVGN. I see a man who loves to do movies and seems like a genuinely nice guy. Not the most perfect person in the world especially when he's attached to Mike Matei but James and AVGN are clearly two separate entities. I don't see that in IG and Bores. All I see from both IG and Bores is a very bitter sociopath. He loves himself too much and his fans just feed his ego. This latest shoutout video, maybe if he took that jab at James out I wouldn't have been so upset with it. I'm not even angry about it, I'm upset. It's just a tasteless act on his part. Same goes with the whole Cheetahmen Kickstarter scandal. He took it on himself to take another jab at AVGN. It's not that I love AVGN or anything, it's just that there's no sympathy to give for IG. I'm glad James held tight and didn't come back with a "fuck you" video to Bores, though a small part of me wouldn't mind seeing that.

I really hope one day James just drops the whole AVGN character. He may lose a lot of revenue but all this bickering back and forth is just not the best way to lead a life. And drop Mike Matei too, I firmly believe he's another thing that's dragging James down.

  38. Oh, get a load of this fresh batch of shit crockery. So some jackass in the comments on the latest video was all like "Wow, Chris, you know way more about AVGN than his fans ever will. Can you make a video about it?" and he replied "I would, but it would be more than 30 minutes long." Give me a break, Boring Man. Given how little he seems to actually understand the whole situation, the only way he could make a 30 minute video on the subject was if 28 minutes and 30 seconds of it consisted of non sequitur cutaway gags.

    1. Well, we need to leave ample time for screen staring, passive aggressive gloating, reminders that he goes to E3, and failed attempts at subtlety.

      Delete
    2. I think "more than 30 minutes long" was his way of saying "That's WAY to much work".

It's also telling how his response was NOT "Didn't I just tell you guys that I don't want to be involved in E-dramas?"

      Delete
    3. Yeah, pretty much. He's basically implying that he could totally make said 30 minute video and that it would totally "own" James Rolfe, but wouldn't be worth his "effort". In turn, he continues to look like a big man for his stupid fans without putting forth a token effort to actually address any part of the debate.

    4. One thing for Sure.

Mr E.G is going to Rub Bores Belly as long as James Rolfe gets more hate.

  39. So, just out of curiosity, I went ahead and checked IG's Social Blade, to see if his latest ploy for relevance was even remotely successful. On the one hand, it did net him the most daily subscribers he's seen all month. On the other, he still couldn't even break 100.

    1. Don't forget the 40 subscribers he lost just a day before that.

    2. Yeah, I can say this was a backfire. After six years of acting indignant and blocking himself from all criticism after constantly getting basic facts wrong, taking months to get a video only a few minutes long out, and not being able to pronounce simple words correctly; this video just seems artificial. I still think he may have been drunk when he recorded it (he looked and sounded that way).

    3. Do you guys think Chris will give up on IG this year?

    4. @J-Dog:

Now that everyone takes everything he says at face value? I don't think so.

      Delete
    5. Nah. From his newest contest video: "2013 is my year."
He seems rather confident in continuing.

      Delete
    6. Of course, what one wants is usually quite different from one what gets.

Maybe this will be the year Bores screws up with no way of cleaning up the mess?

    7. @skyrunner14

Given the shit they've ignored, it would probably take a LOT for him to actually piss away the fans he has left.

I don't think bore's makes use of any fans. I don't see any fans in any of his videos! XD

  40. Hey guys just went on to see how you're "old friend" Asa was doing, it appears he's still talking about you guys and here's the kicker on this one, remember when he said what you guys were doing was irrelevant and you shouldn't be doing this anymore here's what he said: "no. After all, IGSBlog was ALWAYS irrelevant." So let see if I get his logic straight its ok for him to talk about "irrelevant" things but not ok for anyone else to talk about "irrelevant" things. Smell that hyprocacy people.

    1. That's cool. People like Asa are fairly irrelevant too. I guess we can all be irrelevant together! :D

Also, "your", not "you're", and "hypocrisy", not "hypocracy".

      Delete
    2. I presume we're irrelevant in that he doesn't bother to properly research his "enemies". From what I've seen in his comments, he seems to pick isolated cases or minority opinions over here and portray them as our general belief.

Just a quick example: Remember when a few of us jokingly suggested tricking Bores with a fake Kickstarter project? Asa seems to believe this was not a joke.

    3. To all the people who believe Asa is in the right, you know what that is called?

      Quote Minning

      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fallacy_of_quoting_out_of_context

You know, the type of stuff Conspiracy Nuts Love to do because it's the only thing they know.

"Asa loves Conspiracy Nuts because they're nice budget snack that has nice texture and high sodium content" - Kiki

Another method of quote mining is to simply edit the quote or end it before the statement is made. Both take it out of context obviously.

  41. I just thought about this, by the way. BatDan maintains this blog which talks about IG all the time. Just IG. By Liam's logic, this makes him irrelevant.

On the other hand, Asa is pretty constant in his bashing of MORE than just one person. Wouldn't that make him even LESS relevant than BatDan?

    Smell the hypocrisy indeed.

  42. @Skyrunner Ouch, just noticed that oh well if that's all someone could take out of that, it still proves my point about his hypocrisy.

  43. I just saw an Archfiend video about how the YouTube layout ruined the contact system, and it turns out Archie isn't happy about being mentioned by IG. Quite the opposite, in fact. Make of this what you will. Do you think you'll cover this shout-out video, Dan? With all we've been saying about it?

    1. No, I will not cover the shout-out video.

    2. @BatDan
Smart move. Doing so will probably just open the floodgates for trolls.

      @Steven
I didn't watch it because Archfiend makes me want to punch things, but I'm glad to see he at least has enough dignity to be disgusted by Bores trying to get all chummy with him.

      Delete
    3. Nevermind, watched a bit of it, he still isn't calling Bores on his shit. Just being even more of a hypocrite.

      Delete
    4. I saw the video too and yeah...he's becoming a bigger hypocrite than he already is.

      Delete
    5. I guess in the end, they're all content to agree with one another's bullshit so long as Bores can pretend everyone likes him now and the others can keep up their stupid crusade against "teh E baygurz".

    1. No Please Don't, all is gonna happen is that Asa is gonna Flame us and Incite more Troll Attacks.

I don't know if i should be sorry for Chris tough, yes he sink to a low when he made his "too lazy, dint knew the facts Spoof" video, but Asa most likely is only acting like he is cool in his book now, to get him on his side, since they seemed to have the same intentions and target now, and eventually back-stab him or dispose him later.

I wouldn't surprise me, something similar happened to the Game Boob.

    2. You can only buy so much sympathy with staggering ignorance. And what happened with Game Boob anyway?

      Delete
    3. Now you've piequed my curiosity, Kiki. What happened exactly?

  46. My favorite part of the shoutout was Asa's response. He was once one of IG's biggest haters; making numerous videos about him over the years and constantly making fun of him every chance he got. Now that Bores has given him a shoutout, they're suddenly best friends?

    ReplyDelete

    1. Asa somehow became friends with Bores after the e-begging spoof video.

    2. Goes to show you that evil people can unite as long as innocent people get's affected.

      Delete
    3. That's what I find confusing: Most of those former haters (Asa included if I'm not entirelly wrong) take little to nothing back about what they said about Bores' content in the past. But somehow, after the e-begging spoof video, this is all yesterday's news because Bores is now the most awesome dude to hang around and they "respect him as a person".

How this excuses his continuing lack of effort and hostily towards anyone noticing the errors he made in his research, I have no idea. This will certainly NOT improve now that everyone thinks he's the most awesome dude to hang around.

Besides, did the Three Kingdoms teach Asa nothing about intrigue? I'd be a bit more suspicious about the new and improved Bores.

      Delete
    4. [Little addendum here]

I also find it a little suspicious how Bores' new BFFs don't acknowledge his crappy merch, or his little practice of luring people into subscribing to with promises of a contest that sounds about as fair and honest than a German quiz channel (If you've never heard about these: Oh boy, are you in for a ride).

      Wait a sec...

      Luring people with a scam...

Lol, thank God James never did such a contest, or else they'd call him a sub-beggar.

    5. Boy, Bores and co. have really hopped aboard the hypocrisy train, haven't they? Although I guess it's best not to talk about things that might attract Asalieri faster than magnets attracting metal.

ObChannel: And I wonder if German quiz channels get the same level of reputations as GSN does here in America... or GameTV in Canada and Challenge in the UK?
