The Ghost Hunting Crap is Still Happening. It Just Won't Die!

Well... Pursuit of the Paranormal is actually coming. After a year of silence, it's being released next month. See, this is why people give Bores a lot of crap about not releasing anything, he doesn't communicate! Irate Gamer Game? Took 3 years with zero progress updates because nobody said anything! This ghost hunting crap? Took a long ass time because he wouldn't say anything!

Anyway, "Pursuit of the Paranormal" is the follow-up to Haunted Investigators but in movie format. Supposedly, he got a long conversation with a real ghost. Of course, I am calling double bullshit on this.

How do I know it's coming? He posted a video on it. A vlog where he discusses why it took so long and when it's coming. Chris says the reason it took so long as that he wanted to get it on TV so he went to various TV conventions and talked to networks that were possibly "interested". Listing Tru TV, Discovery, Netflix, and SyFy (I hate that spelling). However, nobody wanted it (probably because they did research on Chris Bores).
Oh and Bores mentioned that he spent thousands of dollars of his own money, emptying his bank account and all to do this. He even brings up Kickstarter but said he didn't want to do it. Obviously not because it would make you look like the world's biggest fucking hypocrite. That hasn't stopped your other instances of hypocrisy but............................

So instead of TV, he's going to show it in a "spooooky" theater in Toledo, Ohio on October 12th. Not only will he show the movie, he'll host a "ghost hunt" of the place. ... Am I being trolled right now?
I get the feeling very few people will actually show up to this thing, even less for the ghost hunt part.  By the way, nice job scheduling the same day Pokemon X & Y comes out, losing you the gaming/paranormal crossover audience you have. ... All three of them.

But Danarchy, what if I don't live in Ohio and don't want to waste hundreds of dollars to go there and see what's obviously going to be a piece of shit? Don't worry, the DVD comes out October 22nd. If you're brave enough (or rather, sharp enough to stay awake) then you can get it and do a riff on it. I remember reading on Phelous' Twitter a while ago that he's interested in reviewing it. Probably sarcasm though.

Well, the video did answer one question. It gave us an answer for the long absences, he was supposedly at TV conventions. Here's a counter-question though, WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US THIS? We would have understood and not given you so much shit for not releasing videos. Okay to be fair, would not doing these conventions have been any different from your previous schedules where you still barely released videos without any reason? Nobody wins either way.

I'm still hoping this is all a giant joke and the "documentary" ends up being like the movie Grave Encounters.

  1. The only way Bores' movie could be any good is if all of a sudden they get attacked by the box ghost and they were rescued by the cast of Danny Phantom. Otherwise, I don't care...

  5. ...He emptied his bank account to travel to TV conventions to sell this show.

Ummm... no. I don't believe that for a second. And if he DID do that, he proves to be an enormous idiot. Taking risks like that is INSANE. He's probably not getting all that much from the videos these days anyway, but it is his LIVELIHOOD (presumably - have we ever heard of Bores doing anything else for a job aside from his videos?). You can't take stupid risks like that. You cannot be arrogant enough to assume you can just go to a convention and get your stuff sold and you sure as hell can't be draining away your bank account to try to get it done. You need to maintain the thing that sustains you and THEN take a risk, but you try to minimize the amount of risk you're doing to yourself.

Not to toot my own horn here, but his complete naivity and general dumbassery about this is what constantly makes me so angry about him. I've been doing online videos almost as long as he has. I waited for a year or two before I committed to it as my full-time job because I didn't want to risk it unless I knew I was earning enough to justify spending all my time working on it.

Last year I did Longbox of the Damned - 31 videos, one EVERY day in October in addition to regular Atop the Fourth Wall and any other stuff that came along. It was a risky thing to do because I had never done it before and could have very easily fallen apart, especially since I had been doing additional video work with Atop the Fourth Wall with storyline stuff every week for about 2-3 months. However, I knew that even if it DID fail, people would be willing to understand why it had fallen apart or why I had only done it one year (not enough views, too much work without enough returns, etc.). The risk was worth taking and it was VERY unlikely that it would hurt my returns if it did fail.

And earlier this year I created the first Atop the Fourth Wall DVD. I have never made a DVD before, but I tried to look at what other producers who HAD put DVDs together had included on their's, what people would accept on DVDs and what they would want on them. I decided on a price that I thought was fair, and invested money and time into it. Again, it was a risk, because it could have just as easily ended up like Bores' DVD - forgotten, mocked, and full of mistakes and idiocy. However, it was worth trying out at least once and if I didn't make any more, then the risk would be minimal and I could even stop production AND I kept myself from spending any of the money earned from it right away until I got feedback from people so that I would know if I needed to refund people if they were unhappy.

The risk paid off. People loved it and it'll justify making more in the future. Because we already live in an uncertain and untested field and you can't just take monumental risks like emptying your bank account because you think you're SOOOOO damn awesome that people want to just line up to get your attention. Keep your ego subdued at every opportunity, because it will get the better of you and your arrogance will lead to stupid decision after stupid decision and in the end it will destroy you.

But of course, this assumes that he's telling the truth at all. Frankly I think he went, at most, to ONE convention, couldn't find anybody, and doesn't want to look like a hypocrite by doing a Kickstarter after he did that little video mocking James for it after the Cheetahmen II thing.

    1. Yeah. Or he spent money to get Butch Hartman to put Danny Phantom in it. If not than it will be...basically the same stupid shit expected of Bores. Also love your work sir. Been watching since superman vs the terminator.

    2. @ Adam Burchfield - If Chris Bores somehow did that, i think I'd drive to his house to beat the living fuck out of him. Poor Danny already got a bad enough rap with Season 3 (IE what happens when the real talent leaves and a bunch of coffee monkeys start writing the scripts {With the exception of Kevin Sullivan... he should have been a coffee monkey FOR coffee monkeys}). Yeah, I'm huge Phantom fan. My username's actually derived from the nickname that Jack gave Jazz in a few episodes.

Yeah, Chris hoping to get "Pursuit of the Paranormal" featured on TruTV, Discovery Channel, Netflix, or SyFy is just more of his ego speaking.

      Delete
    2. Syfy already has enough ghost hunting shows so there is no need for another. Even if Chris is trying to compete against Haunted Collector, Ghost Hunters, Fact or Faked, Ghost Mine, Destination Truth, or whatever on a Wednesday night, he will lose in the ratings. Besides, to me, the best paranormal/reality show on Syfy is Paranormal Witness. Why? Because all the stories are true like some of them were from Unsolved Mysteries by the late Robert Stack (ex: Fire in the Sky and Highway Spirit) and they show real photos and videos of the locations of the supposed haunted location.

    1. You're missing the point here. We're talking about Chris Bores wasting his money to find a TV deal to have his ghost hunting show on an online stream network of free movie and tv rentals (Netflix), a network where comedians commentate on videos with dumb criminals and a pawn shop owner with his son and daughter making deals (Trutv), a network that is more paranormal and less science fiction with wrestling added (SyFy), and a network that is all about traveling and nature (Discovery). So what's his last resort to make him be on top with his 90 minute conversation of something not being there: a theatrical release with a pizza party added.

Yeah...I can imagine at least five 18+ people are willing to watch that when you can go to another theater and watch Johnny Knoxville in Jackass presents: Bad Grandpa, the third Carrie remake, 12 years of Slavery: the real story of Solomon Northup, Escape Plan with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone teaming up once again; and The Fifth Estate retelling the story of the WikiLeaks controversy.

I don't know what's more exciting: Slavery, Johnny Knoxville, Wikileaks, Carrie, two old school action stars,....or ghost hunting with pizza.

  10. I have seen every episode of that awful show, and it is not funny in the slightest, how the hell is Ditzy doo(I dont care if I piss off any bronies) dropping stuff on twi(I fucking hate that book series)light funnier than peter and michael moore farting an extremely funny tune? People complain that all Anti-Bronies have never seen the show, well I have and I hate it.

It promotes very left wing messages in a way that is the furthest you can get from subtlety, this shows that it is obviously meant for girls. That and the characters never get into genuine peril, most of the music is very high pitched happy music and the songs are very bland. Seriously, 'Raise this Barn' sounded like every other country song you can think of, it was so generic and annoying that it is up there with 'Friday'. Bronies(Admit it batdan, you are one judging by your tastes) are completely blind to this and believe that everything made by them is a masterpiece

    ReplyDelete
  11. The shows far-left messages about "Friendship"(actually Socialism), Equality and Multiculturalism prove that Equestria takes plase in Joseph Stalin's left nostril.

The British are far better because they know about quality(They cancelled MLP FIM after half a series while Family Guy is by far more popular than the Simpsons) and they are more right wing than America(Obama-Left Cameron-Right). They accept darker humour(They created Monty Python for christs sake!) and will not stand for a diabetes world.

But seriously, I think that the Irate Gamer's 'Planet Chippendales' joke is far funnier than any of the shoddy excuse for "humour" in My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.

Actually believing an hour and a half conversation with himself has commercial value is another.

But believing the sock puppets in his head are actually ghosts giving him an exclusive interview is just mental.

Also, something no one seems to have brought up, he most likely had to spend money to rent out the cinema for the night. If so, then that's even more of his money wasted.

  20. So...since this is going to be held at Toledo, OH, here are other haunted locations that he might take his "guests" on a ghost tour with. The first one is of course the theater he was mentioning about and the rest are spread around Toledo (from forgottenoh.com)

Collingwood Arts Center (where his movie is supposed to premiere and haunted by nuns)
The Commodore Perry Building (an apartment building with the top floors consisting an old dance studio and restaurant. a little ghost girl haunts it)
Club Bijou (a club that was once a murder site for mobsters and guy died from AIDS during the 80s)
Jefferson Junior High School (the sound of an old school from the 1960s can be heard during the middle of the night since the school was once known as Whitmer High School)
Libbey Glass (a warehouse where a worker committed suicide by hanging)
Lucas County Public Library (haunted by a female ghost. No historical record on why)
Oliver House (Maumee Bay Brewing Company, Mutz Brew Pub) [built on top of an indian burial ground)
The Riverview Inn (haunted by a woman who committed suicide in the bar and grill area)
State Hospital (though demolished, a few buildings remain. Haunted by numerous spirits)
Walker Funeral Home (demolished but the six-bay door garages remain. Haunted by the victims of a 1960 plane crash)
Wolfinger Cemetery (haunted by ghost children)

You think with enough, he's going to rent a van and take his guests with him to these locations?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'm also wondering if he'll attempt to get interviewed by the local news media in Toledo (WTOL, WTVG, WNWO, WUPW) to talk about his convention that will probably be about as successful as Johnny Depp's "Lone Ranger" movie was. (Stick with the old TV show with the late Clayton Moore as the title character. :-))
