No Post This Week

As you might have guessed from this evening post, there's no Attempts the News this week.
It was just... more boring crap. Plus, I've been dealing with some things.

No videos either. He did upload his Diablo III review to YouTube... last week. It has a lot of dislikes, probably because it was a half-assed review.

Now if you'll excuse me, back to Pokemon.

  4. Speaking of Pokemon, has anyone found a Feebas or Milotic in the friend safari or anything yet? I'd really like one.

    1. No, I don't own Pokemon X and Y... yet.

    2. Nothing so far. I'm still getting to grips with just how big Kalos is. That goes with the territory of the transition to full 3D. I'm going through similar feelings as I did when I played Super Mario 64 and Zelda: The Ocarina of Time for the first time. Seeing beloved franchises make the transition to 3D is great; especially since the launch really played up how it brings people together. I keep remembering that photo of people getting engaged at the launch in New York. I've seen a few Klingon and Star Wars weddings, but I wonder what a Pokémon wedding would look like.

  5. You know I think it is about time I actually try and finish up my Boktai LP. The reason I opted out of it earlier this year was low confidence and a need to do the multiplayer for it, the key part here now is the multiplayer.

  6. I feel like I can already foresee Chris' post on the death of Marcia Wallace. It will be a week and a half from now, and will resemble:

"Well simson fans, it looks like we lost another one! Marsha wallace from BOb Newhart and of course the simpsons has passed on away , leaing us all so much less funny!!! first Phil Hartmann and then this, you wonder if theres a conspiracy going! They couldve asked me and I would of told them who should die insted!!!"

  7. I just read Bores' blog post on the Peabody and Sherman movie. Being a fan of the Rocky and Bullwinkle series, and just about anything from Jay Ward, I can find a few things wrong from that one paragraph he wrote.

He claims to be a fan of all things Bullwinkle (which I highly doubt) and stated that the Peabody and Sherman movie is a "well deserved treatment". No it isn't, I find it to be a complete disgrace to the original series. I've known about this film since it's reveal and I really have not been looking forward to it since, especially with it being done by Dreamworks, which is one of my least favorite CGI companies.

Personally, I felt that the 2000 Rocky and Bullwinkle was more of a "well deserved treat". I know some people didn't like that movie, but I felt it kept itself true to the classic show's humor and charm. Plus, they got the original voice of Rocky, and Bullwinkle sounded a lot like Bill Scott's character.

    1. For what it's worth, the Peabody and Sherman movie will have a Rocky and Bullwinkle short in front of it. June Foray will play Rocky again (though someone else will do Natasha's short), and I'm assuming Keith Scott will voice Bullwinkle and other characters like he did in the R&B movie.

    2. "The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle" was one of my many guilty pleasures. I watched it once as a kid, but never understood it. However, I caught it on TV about a year or so, and I found it to be funnier than I thought. However, I am a sucker for a good 4th. wall joke, here and there.

    4. Is there anything Chris isn't a huge fan of? He'd probably say he's a huge fan of Hamtaro or Strawberry Shortcake if he thought it'd get him views.

    5. I have no formal opinion on this, since this is the first I've heard of one in development. I find that Rocky and Bullwinkle movie to be a prime example of an unintentional period piece, looking back on it 13 years later. I don't remember when I saw a trailer for it; but I know I saw it on Starz or Encore when I was 8. Kenan and Kel when they were still together (Kenan is on SNL while Kel is not doing much outside Asylum knockoffs of Independence Day knockoffs); fax machines in cars; Bullwinkle going through a bunch of product placement via a dial-up modem (I suppose I could find that clip and Tweet it in a moment): it seemed like a big movie of meta-humor, but I was kind of watching movies like Pokémon The Movie 2000 and X-Men then; as many were. As you can tell, my main thing for my personal Nerd Diversity month is Pokémon; and my last big theme is superheroes. I'm about 12 hours into Pokémon Y, and I was able to configure the Wi-Fi on my new 3DS without much trouble. The school's setup will take some work; but I have my Torchic with a Mega Stone. It evolved into a Combusken within 1 hour's gameplay during watching The Avengers for the 15th time (I enjoyed Iron Man 3 as a good start to Phase 2; and I'm on for Thor: The Dark World on Veteran's day weekend, Captain America: The Winter Soldier in April, Guardians of the Galaxy next August; culminating in The Avengers: Age of Ultron as the perennial superhero movie starting the summer movie season with a bang.). Also, my fall TV playlist will be Agents of SHIELD, Sleepy Hollow, One Piece, Legend of Korra, TMNT 12, Power Rangers Mega Force, Digimon Fusion, Pokémon, Beware the Batman, Teen Titans Go, BlazBlue Alter Memory, and Kill la Kill, to name a few. When I'm not studying, I'll most likely be training and modifying my roster and cruising around on the new rollerblades; and looking for clothes to replace my utilitarian duds with something more casual (I have the Red hat, now I'm looking for the red jacket, non-skinny jeans, and some running shoes to complete); and having the shows, movies, and songs in heavy rotation. I also got some music I can listen to on my SD without gagging. For others who use the music player, anyone else having trouble with headphones? The speakers work fine for playing music. I'm also testing the video capability for 3D movies on YouTube clips before I restart Netflix.

  9. Long time reader, first time commenter here. I found out some (not so) shocking news about the Irate Gamer Game...it's not original. In true IG fashion, it blatantly copies from another iOS app called Commander Cool. This particular game offers its engine for sale, which TIGG very obviously uses. Play the two games; they're pretty much the same exact thing, right down to the glitches. The best part about all this? Commander Cool was released in 2012, so there is no possible way the makers of TIGG spent 3 years developing the game unless they threw out all their previous ideas in favor of using some obscure app's engine and slapping an IG coat of paint on it. Anyway, I hope this was a useful tidbit of information.

    1. *looks up Commander Cool* Holy shit...

It's exact! Thank you for bringing this up to me. This was very useful.

    2. Eric speaks the truth. Commander Cool's virtually the exact same game (He has a parachute instead of a wingsuit, etc.)... but at least it plays properly on an iPhone 4.

I'm no programmer, but it looks like Mad Media Labs did maybe a week of work on TIGG: Acquiring CC's engine, swapping in new sprites and sound effects, and I guess designing some levels. It always had a painfully generic feel, but now we have the proof.

    3. This is hilarious. Just... it's so fitting that Bores' game is just as much a rip-off as he is, in more ways than one! Great tip.

    4. Haters gonna' hate. The Irate Gamer Game was one of the best games this year.

    7. That must be why the "up" and "down" buttons are unresponsive. They never existed in the first place.

    8. The question arises: was Bores "in on" the deception, or is he a victim of Mad Media Labs' laziness/avarice?

      Delete
    9. Better yet, maybe they knew about Bores' infamy and didn't like him, hence the lack of effort on their part. After all, why bother making a good game for someone who doesn't deserve it?

      Delete
    10. @BatDanNight - Methinks the next post will be about TIGG and how it plagiarizes Commander Cool after seeing what I just saw...

      God fucking dammit, Bores!!!

    11. There's various methods to creating a game, with different levels of involvement with coding, design, and asset usage. This is scraping the bottom of the barrel. They modded a game that was unfinished, hell even the original game had art assets stolen from Metal Slug and Mario.

    12. @Ben Wager One of the best game OF THE YEAR? Please. Even by just looking the image, you know this game is going to suck unless you're some die hard Irate Gamer fans.

  10. What I think is interesting is that the blog not only mocks Bores' ignorance, but presents valid points to help him be a better game "critic." However, he is so stuck in his space bubble that he doesn't take it into consideration.

  12. You know it is pretty funny that buggin tries to use teh fact that she is a mother to insult us. So my mother doesn't really care about me buggin I beg to differ. My mother when I was in the hospital for eleven days was there when I woke up for ten of them. She used up the her sick days just to visit me in the hospital. She also stayed for almost the whole day the only reason she really left was to make dinner for my siblings at home and one time to pick up my older brother from the airport.

  13. Does anyone here know how to work vbalink.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Run the emulator associated with Vbalink once or twice or as many times as you need linked gameboys. Set link in the settings to single computer. It should work then

      Delete
    2. Well I was more thinking with more than one person. Since it really would not feel right for me to show off multiplayer for a game by playing against myself.

      Delete
    3. Who ever is hosting must go to options=>link=>Settings=>Server=>start

The application should tell you your IP address. Relay this ip address to the person you will be playing with.
This person must type the IP address into the prompt at the end of options=>link=>Settings=>Client=>Server address.

      And it should work.

    4. Mind describing the link part a bit more in detail I can't seem to find a settings.

  15. Don't you just love how Chris calls anyone who picked up the NYCC 30th Anniversary Exclusive Encylopedia an idiot, simply because they bought it at the event rather than waiting to see if it would be released outside of that event, and paid double for it then.
