Starting Off the Year with Boring. How Can You Make Lego Marvel Boring?!

It’s 2014 everyone!
Hope all my Midwest readers are staying warm from this massive blast of winter.
I know Bores is suffering as well, my Facebook informant told me he posted about the cold. I guess this means that we won’t get any videos until next month. Yeah I know this post was short but…. There’s something new at GotGame? Shit.

Well now, we have our first review of 2014. Lego Marvel Super Heroes, only three months after it came out. Or two months if he’s going to talk about the PS4 or XB1 version. Going by the derpy title card, it will be the PS3 version.
Also, Bores gets the title wrong for some reason. He calls it “Lego Marvel Universe Super Heroes”. There’s no “universe”, that just makes things a little too long. I guess reading the box is hard work.

0:06 - 0:20: The video begins with IG behind his desk, with a bunch of Lego Marvel figures standing in front of him. I really don’t get why he needs to buy the figures when he does a Lego video game review, about 99% of the people that would review these games see no need to.
“How does this one STACK UP? Let’s check it out” Could your line-reading be anymore forced? How has your acting gotten worse?

0:21 - 0:41: “If you loved Lego Batman 2, then you’ll love this” *takes a shot* Fuck that’s bitter.
Improvement on the last game, roaming around NYC… next.

0:42 - 1:03: He goes over the storyline, about Doctor Doom “kep-turing” Silver Surfer and teaming up with other villains.
“It’s your typical comic book story, only in Lego form” Ya don’t say. I thought that a Lego game about Marvel Super Heroes would be about politics.

1:03 - 1:47: He goes over the different worlds, and how they’re all Marvel related. Zzz
He brings up that each character has their own role to play. Okay, what are these roles? … Not going to explain huh?
He mentions easter eggs, and the massive roster of characters, including the ability to play as the Statue of Liberty. Meh, I’d prefer if it was the Weeping Angel Statue of Liberty. Also, no mention of playable Stan “The Man” Lee? Come on son!

1:48 - 2:21: He mentions the characters all have different moves, but won’t say what they are. He brings up that Spider-Man’s web-slinging is really good, and that other games have a hard time pulling it off. Go play Spider-Man 2 for PS2/Gamecube/Xbox, that does it beautifully.
He also calls the cutscenes “animatics” for some reason. You really need to learn your video game terminology.

Onto the final verdict.
He liked it a lot, mentions “oozing on the couch and being lazy”, brings up that it’s good for kids (new drinking game rule, I expect we’ll see him say that a lot now that he has little brats in his life), and that his only issue is that many of the in-game characters aren’t real Lego figures, and he’s also mad that he doesn’t have the entire Justice League
“It makes me very irate” You can tell how irate I am by my bored tone of voice. Grrrrrr.
Oh the video ends with a random appearance from Lego Deadpool. Whatever.

Boring boring boring zzzzzzzzzzzz
A generic way to start 2014. His descriptions of the game were extremely vague, never going over the “different roles” or “different moves”. Also, why doesn't Bores make videos about the actual Lego figures? There’s an audience for that, and he’s obviously bleeding views. Then again, Chris’ video ADD is so bad that a series about Lego is the last thing he should do. I don’t know…

Keep warm everyone.

  1. Behold the generic nature that is Chris Bores.

    1. It should be an addition to the drinking game.

On another note, shouldn't he just call these first looks?

    2. I don't know if it's already a rule, but you should have to take a shot every time he refers to his E3 previews as "reviews".

  3. Oh geez. I was interested in Lego Marvel Superheroes, but come on! I am interested in picking up the 3DS version because of how well the demo worked (I agree that swinging is not as good as Spider-Man 2; which perfected web swinging in Spider-Man games). Well, I suppose I'll try my hand at the drinking game before I go get lunch. I'm using Rockstar. I figured since I'm trying it on Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games in honor of the Sochi Olympic games and the new one in that series to celebrate it; I would need something stronger, but wouldn't keep me from going to class after lunch. That, and I'm working on Zelda: A Link Between Worlds, and I prefer to be sober in Lorule. The alternate worlds in Zelda games don't really need the help. And it's very good, despite Boring Man's doubts. That's all for now.

    1. Huh. It took longer than I thought. With the Tetris review, however, half the conditions were done with barely a minute in. Amp Grape Boost today, it's wired Wednesday.

    2. ...And all 8 sips at 2:53 in. Even after all this time, I still can't fathom what he could make a "scandal" out of with Tetris. Apart from trivializing video game addiction (which is more common with MMOs, humoring Bores knows what MMOs are); it's downright insipid when I can get Tetris even on a cheap flip phone from 7-Eleven. OK, back to Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.

      Delete
    3. I haven't seen this review, but just from what I've understood, the scandal wasn't the game itself, but rather with who made the game.

As I recall, Tengen was making the game without actually owning the rights to it, or something like that. It's what led to the downfall of Tengen, and because of this, their version of the game usually is in the price range of $30-$45, as opposed to Nintendo's version, which you can find generally in just about any gaming store for like $5.

I actually did read something about this in an issue of Game Informer a while back, where they looked at the company's downfall and everything. Was a pretty interesting read.

      Delete
    4. There was no scandal.

"an action or event regarded as morally or legally wrong and causing general public outrage." - scandal

No public outrage = no scandal. He just wrote scandal because it got views just like his mario review did.

    1. cuz chris is needs dem.

But in all seriousness, he is utterly stupid for complaining about these things. I am a LEGO collector myself (Just DC) and he can practically get any DC character in LEGO online if he just buys a customized version from a pad printer. Just more pointless rants for Chris.

      Delete
    2. Don't you get it he's pretending to be a true collector so only the official versions are worn owning.

Really he should just make videos about collectables as that is what he actually seems to care about.

      Delete
    3. Worn owning should be worth owning.

      Dagblasted autocorrect.

    4. If he cares more for toys than video games, then he should have been a toy reviewer like Pixel Dan and Sean Long. Like BatDan said, why did he choose this career path in the first place? Because AVGN 'inspired' him, that's why.

      Delete
    5. One other thing he obviously cares a lot about is Food related stuff. There are quite a few food review/related shows such as Freezer Burns and Epic Mealtime(YMMV) so forth. I can't understand why he hasn't done that by now. As an avid foodie myself, I understand how doing that can be fun as I've made some cooking videos myself. They are also much harder then your average game review. Reshoots are insane when dealing with perishables.

  6. Endless Lego videos couldn't possibly be any worse than his endless Skylanders videos.

Speaking of which, I sorta wonder if he'll talk about The Lego Movie at all.

    2. All the spider man games except spider man web of fire and spider man GBA. Spider man sega cd doesn't do it so well (touch someone while slinging and spiderman goes all homophobic and jumps around) but mastering web slinging and the web sling kick is necessary to beat the game.

      Delete
    3. Well, technically, web slinging should be able to work as well.

Back in the day, Marvel used to refer to it as web-slinging as well. If they referred to it as that, then there shouldn't be anything wrong with you saying it.

  9. got some questions

    1. Has Wise Sage/Eric Allen shown up in any of Bores recent videos?

    2. Have we seen what Shadow Overlord looks like yet?

    2. If Eric Allen hasn't shown up since 2011, it's safe to say he too has broke ties with Bores, just like Scotty, Brad Harp and DatBoiDrew.

As for Shadow Overlord, we probably won't but if Bores does plan to reveal his true identity in a future episode, it will be like the Third Rate Gamer say...

"I can't wait for future episodes of the show where we finally get to see what you look like and it just turns out to be me wearing stupid makeup or some shit."

  13. Hey guys, I just watched a recent vlog made by TJOmega (Thanks BatDan for introducing him to me). He said that he has recently been clearing some of his toys away because there comes a time when every toy collector realized that he doesn't really find the toy that he buys years ago is very important to him anymore. There's why now one third of his toy collection has been removed from his room and moved to the storage room and will be sold in an upcoming sale. He also says that he will be self-controlling himself from buying any toys in a while but don't worry, he will still be doing toy reviews in the future.

This does make me wonder, if Skylanders were to die out just like Tony Hawk and Guitar Hero, what will Bores do with his Skylanders toys then now that the franchise no longer exists? Will he sell them away and finally realized that his Skylanders obsession was for nothing?

    1. The question is whether or not Chris is even capable of moving on. He's put more effort and time into his deadend ideas that it really shows how stubborn and uncreative Chris is. While I am being very skeptical and cynical as I say this, I find that Chris just isn't capable of moving on and making mature decisions.

      Delete
    2. If Chris were to sell them(when they die out), they will be worth next to nothing. He could probably get some money off them if he sells them for about $5.00 each. After all, he's got a crap-ton of them.

    3. I highly doubt it. He will just keep them on his shelf and let them collect dust.

    4. I hate it when companies pull an Activision (a term i use) and kill off a franchise through oversaturation, Personally i think many series wont survive the jump to next gen, skylanders probably being one of many. And as for boredom incarnate? I think he`ll keep plodding on, slamming headfirst into every obstacle in his way, progressively becoming more stupid and defensive and stubborn, until he devolves into some IG/Gligar13 fusion that will ultimately destroy the cosmos with his pure density, forming a black hole. That got off topic faster than i realized.

  15. Well gents, after years of uncertainty I finally got around to watching Doctor Who. For the most part I'm enjoying it, but I have to ask... why is Rose so popular? I'm genuinely confused on that because I for one think she's a twat (no disrespect to the actress, she does a fine job with what she's given).

  16. So it isn't just me then. Glad to know. Wouldn't be that much of a problem if she didn't keep stringing Mickey along, who's gradually becoming one of my favorite characters in the show. He's helpful, supportive, and can be pretty damn noble. And yet... Rose is more qualified to be the Doctor's companion? The woman with no insight, no forethought, nothing resembling street smarts and is always getting herself into trouble. Please, Pleeease tell me that's not the quota for his companions in the previous series. I intend to look at those when I'm finished with the newer one and I don't want to have to sit through someone worse.

    1. Thankfully no, the past (and upcoming) companions are usually a lot smarter and nicer.

  18. Bores posted a new Skylanders video (what else is new)

However, this has a pretty blatant research mistake (well, lack of research mistake). Thanks to Guru Larry for bringing this up.
At one point, he mentions that Fire Kraken is played by the same voice as Mega Man on Captain N. That is not true, Fire Kraken is played by Billy West, best known as Fry on Futurama and Ren & Stimpy on... well you know.
Captain N's Mega Man was played by Doug Parker, who hasn't had a role since 2008.

Bores could have checked this on IMDB, but nope, he rather made a stupid assumption and looks like an even bigger idiot.

    2. Chris should at least pay attention to the game's closing credits on who voiced who...but I assume that once he's done playing, he just shuts off the game and not take a second look.

That's like saying in Batman: Arkham Origins, Chris is going to mistake that Mark Hamil returns as Joker one last time before retirement but everyone who played it before him (and seen the NYCC press conference online) knows it was Troy Baker that did the voice and Mark retired after Arkham City.

      Delete
    3. He did make a mistake in his Arkham City review that Arleen Sorkin reprised her role as Harley Quinn in the game, when it's really Tara Strong who did that...

      Delete
    4. Yeah, I remember that. Guess he didn't play Arkham Asylum to even know that.

Plus in his Injustice review, he mistook George Newbern as the voice of Superman from the Animated Series, when it's really Tim Daly.

Once again, Chris Bores, IMDB or read the credits at the end of game.

So, I'm taking this as him finally admitting that he is Chris Bores, since basically most of my comments on his channel I addressed him as Chris.

Oh, and apparently pointing out all his lies is beating a dead horse and being too ignorant to know it. So literally in the same comment, he also admits to lying, plagiarizing, and well, literally anything else that's been said of him.

    5. Well you have to remember bores is too paranoid to realize how foolish he looks. First of all just because you say something is fact does not make it so, in fact it might actually make it a complete lie. Bores has simply been pretending to be his mother so long that not only has he almost completely stripped himself of his sanity it has also affected his judgement. Oh, and bores how would jdup be doing the same on your channel you yourself said that you blocked him.

    7. Yeah, I just saw that myself. Apparently, I'm "crying, raging, in agony" amongst other things as well.

Honestly, Bores delusions and him getting angry enough to block me has become quite amusing in itself. What's better is watching them having conversations about how they can't see me or what I'm typing, while in those conversations acknowledging what it is I'm typing.

That's what I think, though, I checked Socialblade and he got 931 new subscribers on the last 30 days, so my guess is, by late 2014, he will either a) Do a very bad video (even more bad than his normal stuff), b) Nothing at all, so that might decrease his subscriber count, since we all know Bores, one of the two will happen.

He is posting news about soap. Yup. Other thing that I found weird on his website is that the "NEWEST IG Neo Review" are the Diablo III Console review and the Rayman Legends review. So... is he lazy to change it to the Sonic Lost World one or the Lego Super Marvel Heroes? Oh yeah, Bores is a lazy brat.

Out of the 25 posts that he made on his website on this year, 1 is about games (it's an article about the beta disc of ToeJam & Earl 3 for the Dreamcast.). Why call it the Irate Gamer then? Call it "Bores' Lazy Website About Things That You Don't Care" then.

    1. I know the feeling... I guess we owe CB in a tiny way for bringing us together under circumstances he would never have foreseen or wanted. It's fun to mock him as much as humanly possible, but I TRY to hold back on that for reasons like the foregoing, and ethereal comedy rules like 'teach rather than destroy' and 'you need to be a better person than the target.'

If all of us were incredibly compassionate people (like Mister Rogers level), we might make some kind of attempt to ease him out of mimicking better vidbloggers and seriously assess his skills to the point that maybe he could make local commercials and wedding videos. But that is unrealistic.

Also, putting yourself on the Internet and preening like a celebrity invites criticism. So hey Chris, here's that criticism you invited.

But let's remember: except for his productivity slowdown, he has given no indication of quitting- that's only speculation on our part. CB has surprised us in the past. Why assume more is not coming?

I mean, the storyline-ending video (for which I've hungered for so many months) has to be coming- doesn't it? I guess it could be epic trolling if CB stretched out a maybe half-hour storyline for three years and then bailed. That's such a terrible thing to do that I wouldn't rule it out for CB, but I like to cling to the hope of a "climactic" episode that's the most boring and awful of all. Or, even if it's the best segment of the storyline, how good can it be?

But at the end of the day, I'm happy just to be a note in the larger symphony of the Irate Gamer saga. Best wishes to us all... and yeah, even Chris, since he's a fellow human being and the universe knows I've been dumb and fucked up royally myself.

But I at least check my facts.

He can't even get relatives and friends to help him? PATHETIC! It creeps me out that every one in the new episodes looks like Bores, even the women.

    2. Notice you only see a few non-chris actors on the show. I get the feeling that Chris has this massive ego. Like, he doesn't want other actors becoming more popular than him, so he avoids hiring new people for his show. That would explain why Wise Sage didn't/doesn't appear much. Bores wants all the fame to himself......that's what I'm thinking.

    3. That could explain why you don't see Bores doing partnerships or special "tag team" videos with another YouTube reviewer.

Besides GotGame, what other reviewer/journalism connections does he have?

There are folks on Reddit who sincerely believe that Irate Gamer was always intended to be a parody of Game Dude. I can't say that I'm surprised by the lengths to which his fans will go to find anything that might lend him legitimacy.

    1. The Game dude is still around? I thought he was ridiculed out of the internet.

    2. Well the dude does have -2 points for that stupid comment.

    3. Alexander4488's channel shut down and Game Dude Official's channel appears to go on a depressing spiral. Or rather, his channel went into irrelevancy.

I think he gave up, but I'd like to think Alex was one big troll on his audience.

    1. What "big plans" you're talking about? Sitting on his butt all day, jerking off to porn? Bores uploads a new IG review every once in a blue moon. Guy didn't even make a christmas based IG review. He uploads videos whenever he feels like it.

    2. Yep, look for "The Irate Gamer Movie", less than halfway finished but still released before James's movie!

    3. BIG plans like?
I bet you he won't release anything until at least late March/early April, if at all.

    4. Okay, sure. Bores has BIG plans, but are they GOOD plans, like one new retro episode per month, or BAD plans, like blowing all his money on a ghost-hunting movie no one's gonna buy? THAT is what must be asked!

    5. BIG Plans? Pfffftttt...yeah right. Since when has Bores ever think big?
