I Was Kidding When I Said Late February!

Dark Souls, Dark Souls, you're so very fun.
Hm? Bores has a new a video up? Is it a review?

No... no... it's just an update vlog. Might as well discuss it since NOTHING has been happening here.

Chris announces that the "finale" of the story arc will be split into two parts (I figured this would happen) and that a lot of the hard work and delays came from the use of green screen as the "entire episode" will be in front of it. *looks at other reviewers that use lots of green screen but still get plenty of videos out* Yeah whatever.
His goal is to get Part 1 out in two weeks, but that may not happen. God damn it Chris, I was joking when I said late February! Stop making my jokes a reality!

Chris is also working on another I Rate the 80's. Yeah, only been 11 months since the last one.... and this is the show that people "tolerate".
He also brings up that the weather has been an issue. Why? I mean, I know it's been really shitty outside (Illinois here), but you do everything on green screen. I don't even remember the last time you did an outside shoot. Was it E.T.?

After he finishes the story arc, he wants to focus attention towards more I Rate the 80's and History of Video Games (cute, you still think this will work), and then a contest at the end of the month.

So yeah, we're once again in for a loooooooooong wait!

Might as well bring up something I've started noticing. Chris' "eye for quality", in that he has none.
I could bring up his complete praise of his iOS game, but I'll let that slide as that's his own game, it would make sense he'd want to praise in the hopes it gets sales. Too bad you can't get the game anymore. *checks app store* Still gone. I love how Bores (rather his "mom") claims it's a licensing issue and that it will be back up soon. Is that why Mad Media Lab's other iOS game is still there?

However, Chris' lack of quality control really came forward from an article he posted on his site today. Promoting an "8-bit Skylander game". It's a fan made flash game created by TDDGames (who I later found out is The Titanium Drago, a frequent poster at GotGame... hmmmmmmmm).
Bores said the game was great. So out of masochistic curiosity, I decided to play it. Is Bores' brain that drugged by Skylanders that he found some sort of quality in this?

First off, "8-Bit" is being fucking nice. This looks like a low-end Atari 2600 game, characters aren't animated at all, only have a single sprite (Spyro faces left the entire time) and is painful to look at.
The music, dear lord the music. Instead of looking up some 8-Bit Skylanders remixes or creating his own, Drago decided to use 8-Bit remixes of other games like Team Fortress 2 and Sonic the Hedgehog, and he found the worst possible remixes as it's all squealing and piercing. There's a thing called audio balance!
The gameplay is just as atrocious too. You just move around dodging enemies, it's all the same enemy only colored differently. That's it, that's the entire game.
Bores reported that his high score was 30. I managed to get double that without doing anything! Yeah, I just sat in the corner and most of the enemies missed me. Is this a prank?

My point is, Chris is willing to throw out any possible criticism if it's slightly connected to something he loves. Have some fucking standards! Then again, Chris isn't a gamer, he never was a gamer. Otherwise he would see simple flaws in game design, or be able to appreciate good games better, and not do idiotic things like play only an hour of a game and think that's good enough for a review!

Back to Dark Souls.

EDIT: Wow! My informant just found something really interesting.
Yesterday, Bores posted an image of a big wave. ... Seriously.
A user called Archon posted a very negative comment about it, berating Bores for posting boring shit instead of something interesting. I agree.
However, something scary happened. The comment wasn't erased, it was altered! Archon's angry comment was changed to "This is interesting".
So instead of deleting hate comments, Bores modifies them to make them sound nice. Chris, you Orwellian fuckhead! This is why the "haters" do what they do, because you refuse to accept criticism. You live in your little bubble blocking everything that goes against you, and pretend that everything is okay. Guess what Chris, everything is NOT okay. You burned every possible bridge you have, you are a shell of your former self, most people consider you irrelevant now, and you refuse to adapt to modern YouTube standards. Is it any wonder that you barely get views now?!

Chris, grow up!

    5. No idea since most people that do it generally only try to do reference jokes. Naturally they fall flat since that is the only thing they have for it. Seriously, what is it with people thinking endlessly spouting memes are funny?

      Delete
    6. Well the reason why reference jokes are funny is because it assumes that someone knows the franchise and thus you have a lot of material to work with. Take for example the robot chicken star-wars parody, very good though made an occasional hiccup in terms of remembering what actually happened in the movie. If you can recognize the scene, you know the context of the scene which means the joke (assuming it has a good punchline) will be funny. This is because you can suspend your disbelief to ponder whether or not something like this would be plausible and how funny it would be for it to happen instead of what you know actually happened. Like how funny it would be for leia to chew luke out for mourning the loss of Ben Kenobi when an entire planet full of people just died.
The problem comes when people just do a reference but forget the joke. Strawberry Shortcake.... was that funny? Of course not I didn't do anything with the images and knowledge that popped up with the reference. And that's why reference humor can fail... its when you get lazy.

    7. And that's also why Family Guy and the Cleveland Show suck despite having some legitimate laughs in them. Too many sneering references that have no impact on the story of the episode whatsoever, other than to often waste a minute or more (e.g. Conway Twitty, the Flea Market Montgomery, The Heat is On etc). "It's funny because it exists" only works if it's in an ironic context and is done either in moderation or if it's the centre and showpiece of the entire thing, not when it's supposed to supplement something with an otherwise straightforward narrative. Unfortunately Bores appears to be a big fan of Seth McFarlane and steals from someone who's already a thief. The only difference is Bores could never get within sixty feet of Emilia Clarke.

    3. I shall right this wrong the only way I know how! *ahem*

*inhales* OH MY GOD DISIS DE GRATEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN IN MAH LIFE!

Get the f*ck offa my SPOILERS!

There's this guy, called Chris Bores.

      Gee, what a meaningful title.

And there's these other two guys that want to take over his show... for some reason.

Oh, and they also want to take over THE WORLD... for some reason.

So the two guys are like:

"How can I release you from your prison, oh great Shadow Overlord of Shadows?"

"By stealing a Magnavox Odyssey and using it to create an army of poorly made caricatures of the HAL 9000."

"... dude, what are you smoking in that mirror prison?"

"Just follow my damn orders, evil twin of Bores!"

So the evil twin goes to Chris' house, wearing the most brilliant disguise imaginable!

"No one will know my true identity under this fake mustache!"

      But Chris Bores is like:

      "I know your true identity!"

"Curses! Foiled again! Why must you be so intelligent as to-- oh, look, free XBOX."

      "Ah, sweet!" (runs off)

      "*scoffs* Too easy."

So the evil twin takes the Magnavox Odyssey, and the robot armada is made!

"Surely, the city will crumble at the hands of our weaponless jumpsuits!"

      But Chris Bores is like:

"ROB, you go take care of this. I need to work on a review for six months."

And then the robots are destroyed.

      HOORAY!

But then Chris is visited by a mysterious monk!

      And the monk is like:

"Chris, for your acts of letting the plot run itself while you sit on your lazy ass playing games from the 1980s, I give you this sword of destiny!"

      And Chris is like:

"Aw, sweet! I shall this newfound infinite power to... change my shirt!"

      LE GASP!

So Chris Bores finds himself playing a really difficult game at least two years later!

But when he beats it, a GLITCH GREMLIN appears!

And the monk comes back and he's like:

"Chris, no one was meant to beat this game, and although at least hundreds of people must've beat it before you did, only when you beat it was the Gremlin released from his prison."

So Chris defeats this all-powerful Gremlin by throwing a meager bomb at it!!!

      ...hooray?

And meanwhile, the evil twin is like:

"YES! After countless years of little progress, our master plan is complete! Surely, the city will crumble at the hands of our GIANT weaponless jumpsuit!"

So the monk takes Chris away.

      And that's... pretty much it.

GOD, DO I HATE ASS-PULLED CLIFFHANGERS LIKE THAT!

    2. Also, Chris Chan talks to his fans AND his critics. Bores either ignores/blocks them or uses sockpuppet accounts to call them names - or, on this evidence, alters their comments. Chris Chan is many times the man that Chris Bores is.

    3. The blue arms and the giant Knuckles bother me because they are both just lazy designs and I probably will never get used to it. However, as a kids show it looks pretty decent, I'll probably watch it. The game looks alright too, and I'm really glad you can play as characters other than Sonic again for the first time in a while.

      Delete
    4. I agree. I've been wanting a CGI Sonic show for some time and the new games (I still plan on picking up the 3DS version of Sonic Lost World, and the Wii U version when I get one); and even with the redesigns, I imagine the animation itself will be more than sufficient (given how people reacted to the 2012 Ninja Turtles, do you take your crow medium or well-done?). Also, it will be something I can appreciate given how much I've been disappointed with Steven Universe. They hyped that from Kalos, to Gotham City to Jump City as the first Cartoon Network show created by a woman; what I got was a lead that combined the worst of Short Round, Wheelie, Jamie Kennedy, and Jar Jar Binks. On top of that, while Sugar has created some very good episodes of Adventure Time; her own show looks like Captain EO on acid. Rebecca's intentions are noble, but it's clear she's on Ed Wood levels of her confidence being disproportionate to her abilities. It doesn't help that Natasha Allegri's contemporary, Bee and Puppycat, has better writing and animation on a web budget than Steven Universe does actually being backed by that suit Stuart Snyder. I still plan to have a party when he finally steps down.

At this point I wouldn't be surprised if there comes a point where Chris promotes a photo of a turd just because it looks like something from Skylanders.

    3. To be honest though, it was a storm in a teacup even if it had been true. The recipient was caucasian and had his face as his avatar, so I assumed Bores had called him a nigger (sorry to offend but I hate the term 'n word' even more especially when it's quoting other people) in order to be ironic in some stupid way. For me, the bigger story was just how disgustingly disrespectful and infantile Bores was to anyone who offered him a genuine critique of his work. The words he used were incidental in my opinion, but then I'm not black so I don't have to worry about it as much and I'm obviously not going to tell any ethnic minorities that they shouldn't be annoyed or offended by it.

But as you point out, it doesn't appear to have been true anyway, so it's a moot point. The fact though that people didn't even really question it just shows how little credibility Bores already had.

The apostrophe in '80s is there and not 80's as its an abbreviation (of 1980s (obviously)), not a possessor and it shouldn't be there AT ALL anyway as the 80s are not able to possess anything as they are not a person.

Heck, I feel lazy if I don't post at least one video a week to my YouTube channel, and I just film in my bedroom or living room! As one of his closest friends along with Eric I was asked by the family to keep this from getting out until the family had a chance to mourn. But since the cat is out of the bag I need to do some damage control. Right now PLEASE, dont write on his Facebook wall or comment on his channel. OR make a video about it. YOU CAN do this when a little time has passed but PLEASE dont do it now. This was requested BY HIS FAMILY. I dont know why exactly but it was their wishes. I lost a good friend and right now I dont even want to think about it, thats how I cope. I will have more to say in the coming week or so but for right now just give it time. PLEASE dont ask how he died, all this will come out in time and you will get your answers, for now just give it some time. If you want to write something on your OWN wall about this thats your business I just ask you convey the same message here about the families wishes. Thank you."

I understand that it might have stung a bit, but the dude predictably deleted my comment, and in fact banned my IP from being able to post comments on his site. He just can't accept criticism, and that's a large part of why he'll never be anything more than a hack.

Is it possible that he's making all these bot accounts to replace lost subs? or is that not feasible now that yt is linked to google plus...not too savvy on g+

  27. I do agree with the update. Chris is demonstrating a new form of dictatorial control over his "products." I don't really understand the whole thing, but I would think that deleting a comment and blocking the user would be quicker and less work than outright changing it, seeming more like a pompous dick. Was this a new year resolution for bores, dictate more effort into attacking critics than actually making more content?

  28. Off-topic:
Two hours ago, Nintendo held their first "Nintendo Direct" video of 2014 where they focused attention on several upcoming titles for the 3DS, Wii U, and Nintendo eShop, many of them launching this spring.

    Any thoughts?

    1. I kinda wish there was more emphasis on the Wii U(some new game confirmations, maybe), but it wasn't bad.

I've never played "Punch-out!", and even I'm excited for Little Mac being in SSB.

The Koopalings in Mario Kart 8 were an interesting addition, but I was more impressed with the new vehicles and tracks.

I haven't even beaten DKCR, yet, so I think I'll hold out on Tropical Freeze.

Since E3, "X" was a game that really had me intrigued, and it's nice to see gameplay.

    2. I tried to play it, once, but I accidently bought a faulty copy.

    3. I'm excited for NES Remix 2, especially its expansion of the mirrored Luigi minigame from the first one. And I still haven't played the first one yet!

    4. It was good but nothing that will make me consider buying a Wii U yet.

The only game I want is SSB, but I'll get that for my 3DS.

I'll probably get a Wii U in December, though.

  29. What the hell international media!? Venezuela has been having violent crackdowns on its protests for two weeks now and you report it NOW?

Either way, If you guys don't care about international politics its okay. I'm just posting because I'm concerned about people in other countries.

    1. I don't think they had much to say when it comes to reporting it.

It's scary, but I think that country's heading to a civil war. :(

  30. I've seen the Lego Movie and it was AWESOME! You guys should see it, even if you're not a fan of Lego. ;)

Speaking of the Lego Movie, I also saw the Bum Review of the Lego Movie and...does anyone think Doug Walker just made an indirect reference to the Irate Gamer? Like how he said he was originally going to display his Lego figures for this review but doesn't have any. Like a certain gamer who felt the need to display his Lego figures in EVERY Lego game review he does? And if that's not enough, the Bum later said 'the Critic he don't want to think about?'.

    1. You're reaching.

When he said "the Critic he doesn't want to think about", he was referring to the Nostalgia Critic jacking off with that Rogue action figure he was holding.

    2. I did see the LEGO Movie...and yup...I loved it too.

I feel like going to the Storage Center where I keep my old stuff locked up and rebuilding my old Lego sets I collected in the 90s.

I'm so buying LEGO movie on Blu-Ray.

Oh I see. Sorry. I guess I was thinking too far and I blame myself for never watching Nostalgia Chick.

  31. Well, February has come and gone, and Chris did get a video out two weeks after the announcement.

Unfortunately, it was a continuation of I Rate the 80s, and not a continuation of the Irate Gamer Movie.

    Get your priorities straight, Chris!

  32. "However, something scary happened. The comment wasn't erased, it was altered! Archon's angry comment was changed to "This is interesting"."

Yep, it's "interesting", alright. And not in a good way. The Dunning-Kruger Effect is strong with this one...*facehoof*...
