Bringing Dull Blog Posts to Dull Videos

*gets message that Bores posted a new video*
I don't care about the deluge of Skylanders crap he keeps putting o- It's not Skylanders?!
*goes to check*
... Oh.

For those that don't follow IG's blog (and I do not blame you if you don't), sometimes Bores would review art books. Usually video game related like Titanfall, Watch_Dogs and Thief 2014. And yet he wouldn't even bother to actually play these games. Hmmmm.
Well, he decided to review an art book on video, as he felt "this was too good to simply make a blog post about".
The art in question is the work of the late John Alvin, an artist specializing in movie posters. Blazing Saddles, E.T. Batman Returns, Blade Runner, plenty of Disney movies, etc etc. You have more than likely seen his work.

The video itself is just boring. It's Bores going on about how pretty the pictures are, at one point mentioning he hasn't even read the text (then why are you reviewing it?). There's jump cuts so this isn't just "one take", but it's clearly unscripted.
He mentions his "work" of ghost hunting as the reason why he hasn't been posting videos. I feel like I've said enough about that for the moment (I'll probably say more when he posts that shit next month).

Is this really the content you want your fans to see Bores? What little fans you have left that is? Boring videos talking about picture books? I can see another wave of people unsubscribing from this.

"I just wanted to give you kinda a birds-eye look at some of the pages inside because I thought they were really neat- um, you know, especially with my reviews- it takes pretty much a month to bust one of those out, and to see some of this stuff in the rough sketch form is really cool."

    1. My first thought when I read that this was about a movie poster artist was that it may have been inspired by NC's tribute to Drew Struzan, but that's probably a stretch given that Bores has looked at artbooks before. Still, worth keeping an eye on given Bores's penchant for plagiarism.

  6. More gamergate news:

To be hired by a certain video game company, you must donate to Anita sarkesian's kickstarter or you will be fired:

    Holy crap.

    1. Well, that explains how that kickstarter got funded. Also I have a bit of an update on the MightyNo. 9 front. The community manager has absolutely no control over robot designs going into the game. People seem to have confused fanart (which she is absolutely allowed to do mind) for design concepts Of course, there is still the problem with her not doing her actual job and managing the community in a satisfactory way. But the people asking for a refund kind of had a knee jerk reaction. Now if the rewards they are due aren't reinstated and this chica fired for not doing her job then you can say that there is corruption, but no sooner.

    2. " The community manager has absolutely no control over robot designs going into the game"

Really? She said she was making the designs though.

      http://youtu.be/FXDSfUJBCj0?t=4m28s

      Maybe she got "reassigned"?

      Delete
    3. I take that more as she is making some designs. It really would be odd for something like this to only have one person designing them not to mention there is most likely still someone above her that has to approve them in the first place. Still she has clearly done a lot of damage to the community and it is time to let her go.

    4. Let's not give anything relating to Sarkeesian the oxygen of publicity, she's done nothing to prove she deserves it and in fact seems to go to great lengths to prove how much she doesn't with every asinine utterance she subject us to. My only surprise is that GameFront hasn't had a similar idea of forcing people to fund her given how biased their coverage of her is. Is it any wonder why games journalism isn't taken seriously when they show themselves up as doing the complete opposite of what journalists are supposed to do, literally selling themselves based on an agenda and refusing to scrutinise even when the lay person can see how many research failures and mental gymnastic leaps are in the nonsense they're unprofessionally endorsing? Complaining about misogyny in videogames yet treating Sarkeesian's blatantly sexist drivel as gospel BECAUSE she's female thus proving sexism works both ways while constantly insisting it doesn't? It's actually somewhat fascinating just how much contempt the mainstream gaming outlets have for their own audience and how little regard they have for reporting factual content.

    12. Doesn't seem to me like the writer lost anything. All I see is someone way too in love with what they are saying. Seriously I got bored even trying to comprehend what was being said before giving up. Honestly the article comes off as someone trying to sound deep and failing, hard.

I should note that this writer believes he has in fact written something revolutionary and industry changing. In my opinion, believing you are changing the world by cherry picking and writing insanely obtuse things motivated by an echo chamber of praise only from members of your very small group counts as "losing it".

In addition, having your website accused of writing click-bait articles and then continuing to post articles that contain headlines that are more interesting than the content is like being caught red-handed. If you were bored reading this imagine how the other people are feeling right now?

  10. On another note, just watched the AVGN movie and thought it was pretty entertaining, not uproariously funny or amazing but I'm glad I saw it. I thought there were a few good set-ups for jokes that weren't followed through (e.g. when Cooper insisted on signing the female fan's breasts on AVGN's behalf because he was the manager, AVGN should have got his own back by forcing him to sign a male fan's cock) and the balance between accessibility for newer viewers and fan service was a little askew (too many repeated lines from previous episodes clearly designed for people who weren't entirely familiar with his work, but then there were overly obscure visual jokes like the woman imploding in on herself while falling which only makes sense if you saw his TMNT3 review otherwise it just looks like shitty editing), but overall it was decent. I must admit to being thrown off by the game being changed to 'Eee Tee' which I assume was due to copyright, but that's pretty minor. I also laughed at how they made it look as if the film was going to end without him ever actually showing us his ET review which would have been a pretty funny bait and switch, but ultimately he reviewed it during the credits and it was a decent assessment of a game that, while bad, isn't really spectacularly awful enough to justify its own infamy.

  11. Jeez. I would imagine he wouldn't actually play those big releases like that (the $60 a piece would cut into his Skylanders fund if GotGame won't provide the copies); but I have another entry into my worst moments list. Still, I think it will be hard-pressed to top that statement regarding Justin Carmical's suicide and how his treatment of his fans (diehard fellow Skylanders fans not withstanding) has gone from mere indifference to outright misanthropy; to say nothing of the community apart from a few who do not tread the very thin line Chris has. If it weren't for that, the "finale" would have made it easy, but it's in the top 5. I'm not sure how Mr. Weenie will feel about the whole thing; but then again, I have no idea who he is. Asa's anti-Channel Awesome tirades got him a blip on my radar; and Archfiend has quite the reputation for just about anything. Mr. Weenie, however; far as I know, is just a poor man's version of Andre from Black Nerd Comedy or Chris "CSAndreas" Sanders; people I follow who are actually funny and actually know what they're talking about (most of the videos of Weenie's, unseen by me; some more akin to bullshit speculation than trying to offer something of substance).

  12. Hey guys, I forgot to mention that Chris Bores' website actually gets less hits than this hate blog, look:

    http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/http://irategamersucks.blogspot.com/

    http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/theirategamer

    Pretty pathetic

    ReplyDelete
  13. Because Bores can't be bothered to produce something that actually warrants conversation, I figure I should discuss my experience with another reviewer. I think a lot of you have heard of The Mysterious Mr Enter. If you haven't, he basically reviews animation; specifically he divides his reviews into Animated Atrocities, Admirable Animations, and MLP reviews. Because I don't care for positive reviews and I don't have any interest in MLP I watch his Animated Atrocities.

And honestly, I don't really care for the guy's reviews.

As a critic, he's decent. He gets his point across but he has a tendency to go a little overboard with his rage. No, I can't watch him because his taste in animation is almost the complete opposite of my own. I have a very twisted sense of humor; for context I listened to half of "Kim" by Eminem thinking it was a comedy song. As a result I tend to lean towards darker material like Ren and Stimpy and Billy and Mandy. Mr Enter seems entirely against such dark humor and even gross out humor and I wouldn't have a problem with it if he didn't go out of his way to criticize not just the humor, but the type of humor as well. I think critics should generally stay away from comedy because even if you don't think it's funny there's someone else out there who does. There are exceptions of course (Bio-Dome, Seltzerberg) but animation is not among those exceptions, at least not in my eyes. It should say something when he criticizes The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, a show I don't even like, and I end up defending it.

TL:DR I can respect Mr Enter as a critic, but I can't enjoy his reviews on an ethical level because he and I have completely opposite views on cartoons.

  14. So, I just watched a video by the Archfiend talking about how after 7 years, how it's pathetic to hate on the Irate Gamer now.

    1. okay. Let's talk about the Archfiend. This guy. Now, I'm not going to watch that video. He really pisses me off.

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HrBmuASvXRQ&list=UUR_z6hgtpjuvrr1lQj19dFQ

But Ole Archie left a comment on that video. Bores thumbed up the comment I assume.

And then seeing that the Archfiend is talking about how the Irate Gamer hate is dumb............and then the whole cameo in that Power Rangers episode or something saying "Fuck you AVGN"

Is he serious? Is he seriously all buddy buddy with the Irate Gamer? I, mean, the Archfiend definitely trolls sometimes. And thing is, if a troll is really good you would never know they are trolling. Still. I can't believe it.

So ArchFiend really really really hates Rolf. Cause of Ebegging and some other stupid shit or whatever.

But what about Bores? He's fucking started his youtube career by being a terrible blatant ripoff of the AVGN. He has like a million goddamn sockpuppets he uses to defend himself on the internet. He even has one pretending to be his MOM. He doesn't even give his fans what they want with all the fucking Skylanders spam. Isn't it the "Irate Gamer" channel? And hasn't he had contests but hasn't given out the prizes or some shit?

I mean, isn't the ArchFiend the Youtube Superhero or some shit? The guy defending The People from the Youtube Whores, the sellouts, etc? He hates dishonesty. The Irate Gamer has sockpuppets. He hates sellouts. Skylanders.

How can he be cool with the Irate Gamer? Is he really lacking that much self awareness or is he just a hypocritical fuckwad? I don't know. I just can't believe somebody could be so delusional. It's the equivalent of me looking at a wall and the ArchFiend telling me I'm not actually looking at a wall. I don't get it.

    2. Now that you mention him being all buddy, buddy with him, I recall Chris, when someone was using the evidence that the Archfiend had presented about him being the one behind the Ladybuggin777 account, used the defense of having people call Archie to confirm that the person running the account was actually his mom, and not him. So they must be pretty good friends now.

Of course, that could have just been Chris getting really desperate as well, but still, if Chris was really willing to do that, then they must be fairly good friends. That or Chris is an idiot. At this point, I could honestly see it going either way.

    3. Speaking of which, Here's a comment from him:

"Sounds like Archfiend has a personal message for the IG Sucks blogs author and his little goon followers. Very inlightening video he posted yesterday. Sure puts perspective on what Losers they all are at that blog site. I found Arch's video refreshing and a breath of straight truth. Now the Losers can hang their heads in shame for their years of insanity towards the Irate Gamer. But I figure they will just dig in their heels and try to condone their idiocy, of the past seven years, to save what little face they have left ~ Pitiful ~"

    4. Hey its censorship via "criticism = hater" card. I sure can't wait to see whether or not Irate Gamer picks the anti-gamergate side in gamergate.
