Has Anything Been Happening? Not Really

It's been almost two weeks since Bores posted his last legit video. Since then... Skylanders mostly. But it's worth mentioning.

The first video he actually posted TWICE, the second version was shorter though. According to Harrod, it looks like he showed figures he wasn't allowed to show. That's TWICE he broke embargo now. Hey Activision, maybe you should cut him off since it's clear he can't be trusted. He's since deleted the first cut, but it was up for days.

The second video is about Activision sending him an exclusive figure. The Macy's Day Parade Eruptor. During this Bores feeds into his ego about how he got such a rare awesome figure, even though Activision probably gave them out to every Skylander coverage person on their list. If Chris had real connections, he would probably brag about getting limited CEs from Namco or 2K, even though everyone on those lists gets them too.
Also, didn't Bores say in his original Skylanders review that Eruptor sucked? Oh wait, that's addressing game mechanics, and Chris no longer plays the game cause that makes too much sense, and we can't have sense here.
If I may digress a bit, I do find it bothersome that Activision chose Eruptor over Spyro to represent the series in the parade. I mean yeah Spyro's redesign looks like he was beaten with the ugly tree (not a stick, the whole tree) but he's the character everyone knows. Then again, all the sequels ignored Spyro... it's like they just used his name to promote this new franchise, and tossed him aside when it became a success. Man, imagine if they did the same thing with Crash Bandicoot...

There are some other things I want to mention.

Last week, Microsoft released their documentary "Atari: Game Over" to Xbox Video. A couple weeks ago, Bores bragged that he was appearing in it. I was suspicious about this...
Thanks to Jospeh Nguyen, we can confirm that Bores does appear in it... for like a second.

There's a scene where they discuss the mythology of the Atari Burial Ground and how the internet has popularized the myth. Showing various video clips in a montage, including Bores and... oh ho ho ho ho ho.

Well well, look who that is. Kind of shows that Bores didn't watch the movie before telling everyone on his site to "go see it". Otherwise, he would know James appears. Bores would probably use that as more "evidence" that James is out to get him. I'd love to see him try and convince people of that. "James told the editors to put his brief clip after mine!"

Before I go, another note. I was looking through my old "Attempts the News" articles and found the one where Bores met Ernie Hudson at a convention, and claimed that Ghostbusters 3 was happening. Oh Bores, this is why you can only take the word of the creative staff, not the actors. This was before Harold Ramis had died, and before the announcement that the new Ghostbusters movie will have a female cast. Unless the new movie is in continuity with the first two (I hear it's reboot so probably not), then Ernie Hudson didn't know anything and Bores reported "false information". Along with a recent post where he asked Sean Astin about a Goonies sequel (at a convention) and was told "It won't happen in my lifetime", it shows that Bores is still stuck in the 80s and won't leave.

  1. BatDan. Gotta say, I love your blog, and you have very good taste in internet reviewers. I've actually been in several comment wars with LadyBuggin777, with the latest concerning JewWario's suicide and how the Irate Fuckhole responded to it. After all the times Bores has lied, cheated, stole and coveted, he is the one who deserves to go to Hell.

  3. I wonder how Archfiend, Asalieri, and the rest of their cult would respond to Bores and Rolfe appearing in the same documentary?

  4. Yep, all he cares about is the toys.

And rubbing in that he's got ones nobody else can get.

  5. Hm. Well, those ghost videos did further prove he's no Egon Spengler (RIP Harold Ramis and Justin Carmical); and just as well; since putting Pursuit of the Somewhat Paranormal against Pokémon effectively made the former as big a flop as the 2013 version of The Lone Ranger. By the way; what does everyone think of OR/AS so far? I definitely consider them to be enjoyable as both remakes of Ruby and Sapphire as well as good entries on their own. As for Skylanders: least I have the fact that the first three Spyro games are on Playstation Network store and that Naughty Dog may have the rights to Crash again (though I do respect they moved on to Jak, Uncharted, and now The Last of Us). Plus, Disney Infinity and Amiibo have characters I actually care about and more potential for long-term gameplay as well as the trading figure aspect. Well, see you all later.

    1. Ever since Naughty Dog stopped personally making Crash Bandicoot games, I feel the franchise has gone downhill. The only other games that I feel were done in a good way (ones that Naughty Dog didn't take much or any part in) were Crash Bash, Crash Nitro Kart, and The Wrath of Cortex.
I do wish for Naughty Dog to come back and revive the Crash Bandicoot franchise, the same way that I wish Insomniac would come back and revive the Spyro franchise (for the latter, I wouldn't even mind if Vivendi Universal did so considering their good work on Spyro: A Hero's Tail).

    2. Yeah, even Enter the Dragonfly I found to be OK; and I do respect that Insomniac moved on to Ratchet and Clank, Resistance, and now Sunset Overdrive (one of my top 5 titles that might convince me to get an Xbox One soon).

  6. Bwahahahaha, poor Chris. ;)

Also, I love your rant about Chris boasting that he has an exclusive figure when there are other people who also has it, BatDan. Being a toy collector myself (I mostly collect Transformers and Marvel Legends btw), I don't care how rare the figure is. Whether if it's G1 Optimus figure or SDCC exclusive classics Hordak filmation figure, I don't care if it's rare or an exclusive because if it CAN be bought from eBay even til today or did distributed in public events then it's not really rare at all since there are people who owned it.

Unless if it's something like Swordquest: Waterworld on Atari 2600 or Nintendo World Championships gold cartridge where it was only distributed in an event that only happened ONCE or through a membership subscription service, then it's consider very rare because you don't see it often in public or on the Internet anymore.

So that's why owning an exclusive Eruptor repaint figure isn't a huge accomplishment, Bores. Lower your ego down, dumbass.

    1. I know I've got a C&C Tiberiam Sun collector's figure that was packaged in the wrong blister pack. That sort of thing, where it's a mistake, that makes a rare item better. Getting a exclusive figure that was handed out by the dozens is not the same thing.

  10. Anyone wanna bet Bores will NOT upload anything of substance for BatDan to riff before the year's out? Like I said, I didn't think anything could top 2013 as his laziest year ever, but this year's proven me wrong.

With only a month to go, I'd like to ask everyone-- what, in your opinion, was the worst thing Chris Bores did this year?

For me, it was that 39-minute response video to Archfiend making up lies about James Rolfe while going over his YouTube "career". It shows how much Bores is the video game reviewer equivalent to Rupert Pupkin from The King of Comedy and will do anything to make people love him and diss Rolfe, but in the end, karma will be a bitch to him and his "buddies".

    1. That's a pretty bad one, and I'm sure it'll make the Bottom Ten of this year, but I still think his jackassery towards JewWario's death is the worst of it. I mean, it's one thing to talk smack about someone still living and very obviously not caring about his shenanigans, but THAT? Bores needs to step on a Lego brick. Barefoot.

    2. To Andrew's question, one could say that nothing he uploads is of particular substance, but he typically puts out some kind of Christmas video.

Is there anything like a quintessential PewdiePie video that makes clear why he's the king of YouTube?

      Why, just why?

PewDiePie and his "bros" are not funny in the slightest.

And this isn't the first time an Internet celeb made a major appearance on TV. Remember when Fred was on iCarly or when Chris Crocker and lonelygirl15 made the talk-show rounds in the last decade?

    3. If I was Matt Stone or Trey Parker, I would parody PutridPie myself rather than allow that rape apologist to make a cameo in an episode. But now, they are no different than The Simpsons with their frequent voice cameos by people like Justin Bieber or Lady Gaga - or Family Guy letting Rush Limbow make a voice cameo to get better ratings.

And with allowing a "Celebrity" like PutridPie to cameo in their latest episode, all their talk about Celebrities is now like a turd falling into my drink...

  15. Off topic, but Derek Alexander AKA The Happy Video Game Nerd has retired the whole HVGN name. He's still going to be doing reviews, but under a different name. In this video, though, it seems he's hinting at Bores denying the whole 'Angry Video Game Nerd ripoff' schtick:

    2. Around 4:00 Derek says 'A lot of people were ripping off the Angry Video Game Nerd. Why, why would you - who would be so brazen as to try and deny that? There's nothing wrong with embracing it'. It seems like this comment indirectly hints at how Chris Bores constantly kept denying the accusations that he was ripping off James, when at the time he was stealing lines and complaints for the same game verbatim from James.

      Delete
    3. As to your other point: If Derek is actually retiring the HVGN character, I hope to God that he's man enough to stick to it. TGWTG made such a huge deal out of Doug retiring the Nostalgia Critic, then he caved to fan demand and brought it back and nearly every review of his since then has been bad.

      Delete
    4. I think he will stick to the name change. He said the main reason he kept the HVGN name for so long is that he's a bit sentimental. It's not like he's stopping reviews, he's just doing them under a different name.

      Delete
    5. Yeah, he'll stick with SSFF methinks. He was already using it before the official name change.

I loved HVGN but I reckon ISRTB has outshone it. RE: Survivor, Hexen, and Vampire Rain were pleasures to watch.

      Don't get spooked!

  16. So...just six months after the console version release of Ultra Street Fighter IV, Capcom announced Street Fighter V. I guess the Street Fighter series is now officially Capcom's Call of Duty and Skylanders.

Also, the game will only be released on PC and PS4. I'm not disappointed since I do have a PS4 but it's still surprising that they're not going to release it on Xbox One.

    1. Or even on the Vita...

At this point, Nintendo should get the rights to Mega Man, Bionic Commando, and the other franchises Capcom's neglected.

    2. Oh, another Street Fighter? Lemme know when they make a new Darkstalkers. Or sell the rights to Mega Man to Inafune. Or make a new Breath of Fire that isn't a crappy mobile game.

I'll always love Capcom's backlog of classics, but nowadays they just... man, I don't know. At least Monster Hunter is still pretty good. Can't wait for 5's release next year.

      Delete
    3. Although from the looks of it, Inafune doesn't even need Mega Man anymore. Mighty No. 9 seems to be a sort of statement to Capcom; that if you guys don't want to make a new Mega Man game, I'll do it myself.

      Delete
    4. Street Fighter and Re-releasing their older games, that's all they care about now. Why do Capcom Japan bother anymore at this point? Just take the money and close up shop. You'll never make big sales like this and you'll just spend more than you earn.
