So Much For Retirement! Actual "Irate Gamer" is Coming Back

I was going to wait until the end of the week to see if he would keep his promise of "New videos every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday", but the video he just posted has to be addressed.
After claiming "retirement" and "I'm done because views are bad", he's apparently bringing back the regular "Irate Gamer" show. With a teaser of Bores meditating in front of the Old Man from the first Legend of Zelda because "I'M SO RETRO", and then a montage of the awful awful "movie". All set to a slow version of his theme, which may I remind you is a piece of royalty-free music found off a now discontinued Digital Juice product.

So to everyone that believed Bores confused "retirement" with "hiatus/taking a break", you were correct all along. Once again showing that Bores has trouble with the English language.
I look forward to dissecting the stupidity, because it will be there.

Since I'm here, I might as well recap the video he posted Monday.
In case you haven't heard by now, Disney announced they will be rebooting DuckTales in 2017. Honestly, I'm okay with this. Though I do wonder if Alan Young will still even be alive by then...
Bores, being the "ace reporter" he is, posted a video about it... at least two weeks after the announcement broke. Continue the Kotaku level work Bores, it's so professional.

Anyway, Chris is excited because he was a huge fan of the original series because he was a fan of the Uncle Scrooge comics. He then holds up one and gushes on how awesome it is.
He does have one objection in that he feels the original series did not age well. WHAT? You need your eyes checked as DuckTales is one of the few 80's cartoons that still holds up. He thinks it's his age, or his love for the comics. No, you're just not a good critic.
No apparently it's because Don Rosa set his expectations too high. You know, there are fans of the original comic that also love the animated series.
He mentions how Rosa tied all these "facts" together. You mean lore right? Continuity? More improper English from Chris. Is it any surprise people thought he legitimately retired?

He picks up his copy of The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck (which he incorrectly calls The Life and Times of Uncle Scrooge, even though the correct title is RIGHT THERE IN FRONT OF HIM) and describes how it goes through Scrooge's life. Opening the book to show us random pages that we can barely make out. Use a scanner and edit them in you moron!
"Making his fortune in the Klundike" You mean Klondike?
Wait, he does edit in pages! Why couldn't you do that earlier? Why pad out the video fumbling around the book trying to find them?!

Apparently another reason he doesn't like the cartoon now is that they replaced Donald with Launchpad or Webby. He claims he heard a "rumor" from EW.com that they want Launchpad and all these other characters to come back. That's not a rumor Chris, that's speculation. There's a difference.
He doesn't want Launchpad to come back because SOURCE MATERIAL!  Too bad Chris, Launchpad was a staple of the original cartoon, he's coming back.
More gushing about Don Rosa...
He claims Scrooge was George Lucas' inspiration for Indiana Jones. Oh sure, if you ignore Doc Savage, Allan Quatermain, the serial shorts from Republic Pictures, James Bond, then yes he's totally based on Scrooge McDuck. Do your research!

The video ends with Chris saying he's excited, and begs Disney to work on the show, wanting them to contact him. Boy you are deluded. What qualifications do you think you have? "I READ THE COMICS" You and millions of other people. The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck is one of the most critically acclaimed graphic novels of all time. You are not alone in your love of Rosa's stories! Also, I don't think they'll hire you after your "no Launchpad" comments.

I'll see what he uploads on Friday and consider if that's worth making a post about. If he goes by his new schedule as promised, expect weekly posts on Friday or Saturday. Depending on the content at least.
The stupidity returns!

  1. One thing I'd like to point out is that Donald Duck DID appear on a few DuckTales episodes, including the series premiere-- "Don't Give Up the Ship". So that complaint just made Bores even more idiotic.

    1. Well, would you expect him to do research? Hell, he did no research to make sure that all the lies he told in the "Opening Up" video could be so easily disproved. Seriously, how hard is it to check a fucking time stamp?

    2. And I'm surprised he didn't bring up Launchpad being on Darkwing Duck from time to time due to his popularity...

  2. Dude, it's been 8 years now, GIVE IT UP. What are you trying to accomplish? Do you have some weird delusion that he's suddenly just gonna stop posting on his channel and give up JUST because a bunch of assholes like you are telling him that he sucks? I bet you're subscribed to him JUST so you can troll his videos with hate spam.

    1. I do it to protect the innocent.
There are uninformed people that believe what Chris says is accurate. I come in to prove him wrong and show the truth.
One of these people was Linkara, who didn't realize just how much Bores got wrong in his videos.

Also, Chris still does terrible things like monetizing his tribute to Leonard Nimoy and begging for subscribers at the end.

And no, I'm not subscribed. I'm blocked anyway so I couldn't subscribe if I wanted to.

    2. @ Hunter

Let's NEVER forget things like the E-Beggin spoof and the "coincidence" that he's gotten best butt buddies with Eric Gaede, or even the "Opening up" video while plugging him and Archfiend, when he tries to distort history bizarro style, all because of the drama that Eric Gaede started over the AVGN movie.

or the fact that Bores insulted Jewwario's suicide!

    3. Okay 1. I'm 2840 percent sure that he didn't mean to insult it, much like how Justin Bieber said that Anne Frank would have been a Belieber.
      2. The Ebegging Spoof was literally a joke basically showing that what he was doing in that video was exactly what AVGN has been doing.
And 3. Distort History? Seriously? Name one time where he distorted history.
It's been 8 fucking years people, LET IT GO!

    6. The object is quite the opposite: It's for Chris to do BETTER. It's been eight years and he hasn't gotten BETTER. Wouldn't you want to see someone's skills improve in their craft after so long? Instead, if anything, he's gotten worse with all the needless potshots, steadfast refusal to take any advice into consideration (both harsh AND polite) and of course his perpetual victim complex regarding James, Mike, and anyone that shares either of their respective breathing space. Similarly, it's been eight years. His fans don't care about James, neither James nor his fans care about Bores, they've all moved on while he has not.

Hell, this whole revival of the main show screams "inspiration" from Doug Walker bringing back the Nostalgia Critic. Not to say anything of the quality of his show now because he's clearly just doing something because another well-known guy did it.

    7. 1. Chris can still apologize for what he said, but he never acknowledges that what he said was wrong. Which is ironic considering that (he claims anyway) his dad was so close to death. You'd think he'd understand how to respect the dead by now.

      2. People don't have to donate for things like Kickstarter. The Cheetahmen 2 thing hardly made anything and was soon cancelled. Bores is another one of those idiots who doesn't understand things like this enough to really question if it's right to call it the Devil. He made "ebegging" specifically to spite James ("cartoon cheetahs" line at the end.

      3. Bores had no evidence for what he was saying the entire 39-minute "opening up" video. BatDan, here, debunked the entire thing with actual facts and research. Chris Bores is an arrogant pig who thinks he's perfect and doesn't need to change, so he thinks that he can convince other people as well as his own conscience that he has no faults by making up delusional lies. Fuck Chris Bores.

    8. @HunterBurnette - And if Chris Bores "didn't mean to insult" Justin Carmical's death, why the fuck has it been taking him 14 months to apologize? Also, I fail to see how his "e-begging spoof" was really a spoof, considering the DealDash scam Bores was involved with two years prior.

@BatDan - I still think a post about the issue of people suddenly siding with Bores needs to be addressed. It's amazing what crocodile tears can do to people. Especially when they get all butthurt every time you tell them legit reasons on why Bores' little "opening up" video is not 100% truthful.

  4. I'd like to see him review Megaman X. That would cause a huge riot.

    1. A review of ANY Mega Man game would cause a huge riot... unless MAYBE it was Mega Man 8 on PS1 and/or Sega Saturn.

BTW, I'm not surprised that Bores confused "retired" with "on hiatus". I myself was thinking that he didn't really retire the Irate Gamer.

      Delete
    2. I'm also not terribly surprised. This is the same man who can't tell the difference between "predecessor" and "successor," after all. I expect more Monster Party skullduggery from his "revival." That's all for now.

  7. You know I totally believe he did his little "retirement" because the Nostalgia Critic retired but came back after barely a year. This is despite the fact that the NC was supposed to be a permanent retirement of the character due to Doug's burn out of doing a weekly series. That and he wanted to do Demo Reel an other projects. Bores, your other projects have went nowhere! Other than your stupid Coming Out video and trying to desperately revive a series no one wanted to watch in the first place, you have done nothing! Your fans have wanted more retro reviews (which would get you the views you desperately need) for years now, and you give them nothing they want. They don't want your terrible attempts at history, or your stupid personal blog that was a waste of Gotgame's money, or Skylanders, or ghost hunting. I really don't understand how people stay subscribed to you or side with you when you only want to please yourself

  8. I hope he does another breakfast rant. Did anyone see the parody one where the guy whines and bitches about how they changed the Cookie Crisp mascots from two criminal dogs and a cop to just a wolf?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Color me surprised; I didn't think Bores would revive the Irate Gamer character after finishing up Season 4 last April. Like other people, I thought the character was retired permanently given the blog post made back in July. Looks like I was wrong.
However, I must give Bores credit where it's due what with him announcing to have a video uploaded every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, in addition to bringing back regular episodes of the Irate Gamer. You have to admit, it looks like he is truly starting to commit to uploading content on a regular basis, as well as providing videos that his fans want, and I will give him credit for that.
Of course, only time will tell if he actually keeps his word and commits himself to that schedule.

    1. Considering his track record i'd bet that most of those will be either Skylanders or contests.

  10. One problem I have with these posts on occasion: they treat Bores's opinions as wrong. Opinions are subjective, and his opinion that DuckTales hasn't aged well isn't any more wrong or right than the opinion that it's held up well. Certainly, he never seems to back up his unpopular opinions with strong arguments, but that still doesn't make your opinion and/or the popular consensus factual.

    1. Have you been reading any of the blog entries?

      Delete
    2. I've read probably all of them. Occasionally they'll bring up an opinion Bores states and indicate that it's wrong even though opinions are not facts. One random example:

"It doesn’t help that MMPR (Mighty Morphin Power Rangers) on SNES is actually a decent game with great controls and music."

This sentence is written as though BatDan's opinion on that particular game is a fact. Even if it's a common consensus that it was decent and had great controls and music, it's still not "right" or "wrong", because that's not what opinions are.

      Delete
    3. You forget that what Dan writes is simply just opinion.

      Delete
    4. Well, that's the point. His opinion isn't objective, or even necessarily the same as the general consensus on something. It's just kind of smug to indicate someone else's opinion is wrong, even if that person makes a ton of (factual) mistakes in their videos.

      Delete
  11. Another pretty glaring instance is in the posts about his review of Super C (yeah, it's old, but it's worth noting). Both the original post and the Redux Recap of it emphatically state that Bores is wrong about Super C being harder than the first Contra.

This moment in particular actually really bugged me, because I and a lot of people I know agree that Super C is indeed harder than the first game because it simply has a lot more shit coming at you at once. Hell, I don't even recall it being a very common opinion that Super C was EASIER. Even if it more people thought it was, there's a lot more to criticize about Bores's videos than his opinions on things.

Also, I don't hate this blog at all. It's entertaining to see Bores's videos being picked apart. But saying his opinions are wrong simply doesn't come off as terribly intelligent criticism as opposed to pointing out his research errors and hypocrisy. I just thought I'd give some constructive criticism for this blog since I do enjoy reading it whenever new info on Bores's misadventures pops up. Cheers!

  12. I'm happy to see the Irate Gamer coming back regardless of Bores' contradictions in the past.

  13. So I just had a great day today until I found out that my friend now likes the Irate Gamer and calls Mike Matei a coward. He used to always watch Cinemassacre, but now I'm not so sure.

  14. I'm personally looking forward to this new Ducktales; and I agree that it's held up better than other 80s shows that I like (even I'll admit the original TMNT and Transformers have serious strains of being unintentional period pieces). Also, what's wrong with Launchpad? I like Launchpad. As for Boring Man: we'll see if he can stick to this schedule when his output was spotty even in the beginning. I'm expecting more Artistic License History of Video Games, masturbatory 80s and Skylanders videos; and Monster Party skullduggery from the revived IG. See you around, Dan.

    1. Hell, I'd argue a lot of Ducktales' popularity comes from Launchpad. Heck, Darkwing Duck would not have been nearly as funny without Launchpad as his sidekick. Also, it's freaking hilarious that he points out Launchpad, yet I'm pretty sure Gyro and Gizmoduck were made purely for the cartoon...

  17. Actually, during the development of Raiders of the lost Ark, Spielberg came up with Jones being chased by a boulder, which was inspired by Carl Barks' Uncle Scrooge comic "The Seven Cities of Cibola". Lucas later acknowledged that the idea for the idol mechanism in the opening scene and deadly traps later in the film were inspired by several Uncle Scrooge comics. http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=W+US++++7-02
