What's Worse Than a Boring IG Video? An IG Book!

I just spent the last couple days at Wizard World Chicago, and all over the place was Jason David Frank’s face. You walk in to get your wristband, a cardboard cutout of him in costume (helmet-less) greets you. There’s ads for him all over, and for an “exclusive Green Ranger figure”. He has an entire booth just for him, where as other “celebs” are all herded into one area.
My point is, filming JDF at Wizard World Ohio isn’t a big deal despite what Bores claims. He didn’t “pull any strings” or anything, he just gave him money, pointed his camera at him, and got a video. I still feel it’s not his footage since JDF doesn’t even say “Irate Gamer” or anything related to Bores. The watermark means nothing as anyone can add a watermark and claim it as their own. Remember eBaumsworld and all their controversy?

Anyway, what did this week bring? Quite a bit actually.

Tuesday is another “tech review”. Which is really just more paid shilling of some cheap product nobody will use.
They’re phone chargers. It’s just him describing features. There’s a bit at the end where he tries to make charging his phone “epic”. It’s lame.
What’s screwed up is that someone in the comments asks some legit questions like “how long it takes” and Bores gives real answers. Why didn’t he include THAT in the video? It just shows how screwed up his priorities are.

He claims in the description it’s a “laid back” review. Apparently “laid back” means “less random shit” or something. It’s clear that he’s doing these “tech reviews” as he’s starved for content. Though a later video this week implies he needs the money and it’s likely he’s doing these videos to get paid.

On Wednesday, he posted a text review to his site.
Bores finally reviews Arkham Knight! … The novel.
Yes, instead of taking time to play Arkham Knight, he’s just going to talk about the book. That’s kind of dumb. It would be like not seeing a movie, and then reading the novelization and judging the movie based on that.

“Ahh yes, the Batman: Arkham Knight graphic novel.” It’s not a graphic novel, just a regular novel. A graphic novel would mean illustrations and panels, like a comic book. Just being Batman doesn’t automatically make it a graphic novel.
“If you haven’t played the video game, then this book is for you!” But that would be pointless, wouldn’t it make more sense to play the game then read the book, to see if it goes into any details the game didn’t? Like how The Dark Knight Rises novel mentioned the Joker when the movie didn’t.
“If you have played this game, (or haven’t read a book since highschool) then this novel is not for you since it rehashes the same thing you just played in the video game version.” First off, that’s not funny. Second, how do you even know it rehashes the game when you say in the next sentence right after that
“I haven’t played the newest installment yet”
So how do you know that?! Sounds to me like you’re talking out of your ass again.

“I’m over halfway through this book already” And this review is null and void. You didn’t even finish the book?! What possible excuse could you have? You can probably read the book in less time than it takes to finish the main campaign of the game (and let’s not even get into needing 100% for the true ending).
“The new 52 version of Batman is going through a rough period right now with terrible storylines” I thought Scott Snyder’s Batman was one of the only good aspects of the current continuity? Did the editors fuck up again?

“Also without Joker, all the mob bosses of Gotham are all vying for control of the city. They keep referring this as filling the void that Joker left behind but I didn’t realize the Joker was so pivotal in the stability of the mob bosses controlling Gotham. Yeah that didn’t make sense” The Joker was one of the most dangerous men in Gotham. He had money, power, territory, a ton of influence. With his death, the Gotham underworld is vying for that same power, hence the whole war breaking out and Joker goons working with other crime bosses. Something you would notice if you played the game.

“The first 100 pages of this book are pretty slow and at times a bit dull. It really is like reading about a video game.” Here’s an idea! How about you go to YouTube, and watch someone else play it. That way you can get a better understanding of what’s going on. Clearly you’re not going to play the game since you don’t even have a PS4. Sugar Daddy GotGame won’t give you one.

Rest of the review is all “So many twists, such good story, Arkham Knight is obvious” Blah blah blah. Don’t do this again.

He actually posted a video on Thursday.
More amiibo… and more shilling of VidFall. Seriously? What, did that first video somehow get them traffic? I don’t believe that.

“GameStop put the date of September 11th, yeah I know…” Shut up. It just so happens that September 11th takes place on a Friday this year, and lately Nintendo prefers to release games and figures on Friday. It’s also the same day as Super Mario Maker, it all connects.
Oh and Vidfall sent him the Japanese Olimar amiibo. Come on Chris, you couldn’t wait three weeks? Again, I feel importing amiibo is cheating. Part of the hunt.

Rest of the video is just listing the other amiibo coming out. I already know this, closing the video.

We now come to Friday’s video and hoo boy is it a big one.
Chris announced he’s writing a book. … Oh this is going to be magical.
Remember when I used to write about his site, before I got bored since nearly every post was the fucking same. Remember all the grammar and spelling errors that would plague most of them? All the typos? 2104 instead of 2014, and this happened all the time.
Can you imagine a book, a published work, written by him?
Who knows, maybe he’ll actually get an editor that will proofread this crap.

So, what’s the book about? Ghosts. Because of course it is.
He claims he put so many hours in to make it “easy to read, easy to understand”. I don’t think anyone will ever understand your mind Chris.
“People who don’t like me, please be kind” Hmmmmm…. Nah. Ghosts aren’t real so I’m going to keep calling out this phony crap.

The title mentions “Fan Help Needed”. For what exactly?
“I’m not that good at photoshop” You don’t say *looks at all the shitty effects from years of videos* At least he finally admits it.
He wants someone to make him a cover for the book. A “shadow person” in a doorway. It will look good in bargain bins.

“I don’t have a lot to give as payment” “Bills are kind of tight right now” Say Chris, you see all those NES games behind you? Maybe sell some of them. Or how about your Magnavox Odyssey? You clearly don’t need it anymore, get rid of it, there is a market out there for it. Or how about all those old toys you have lying around? All those Masters of the Universe figures, the entire Kinnikuman/MUSCLE collection, surely you don’t need those anymore.

“I kind of feel the entire field of paranormal research has hit a wall” Because it’s all bullshit! People are starting to realize this.
He claims everyone is doing the “same things” and TV is “repetitive”. Remember when the TV execs told you “nobody cares about ghost hunting”? Why didn’t you listen?! Shows about Bigfoot seem to be the new trend right now. Proving that there’s always an audience for shows about people trying to find something that clearly doesn’t exist.
Say, what happened to your episode of Hardcore Pawn?

He goes on about his psychology and ancient texts again. Funny thing, I actually Googled “ghost psychology” and one of the first results was a leading psychologist saying “they’re all in your head”. Bores is trying to use that same science to prove they’re real. This feels like a massive joke. Do people actually take Bores seriously as a paranormal expert?

“Talk about things that have never been addressed before” Chances are they have, and you just haven’t looked hard enough. I would look, but I really don’t care.
“This book is very groundbreaking” Groundbreaking huh? Where have I heard him say that word before?

More stroking his ego, believing that what he found is “amazing” or something, claiming he hasn’t heard anyone say what he found. Again, someone probably already has. But at the end of the day, it’s all bullshit.

He wants the book to be out by Halloween. No, I’m not going to try and read it.
He got booked at some event which apparently has all the “top paranormal people”. Looking at the site he provided in the description, it’s going to have people from Ghost Hunters, and some other people. This is so dumb.
The event is called “Old Mill ParaFest” if you want to look further.

Blah blah blah… he says the book is basically done and he just handed it to a couple of people to proofread. Okay, so it won’t read like his site. … Right?
He brings up that he’s been having trouble getting videos out. Then maybe take a hiatus? Make a video where you say “I’m working on something important, don’t expect too many videos”. At least then I wouldn’t give you shit for not making videos! But no, you’re incapable of proper communication.

“The channel isn’t as big as it used to be” And whose fault is that Chris? You’re the one that blocked years of criticism. You’re the one that burned all those bridges with other reviewers. You’re the one that poses as your own mother and yells at everyone, scaring quite a few people. You’re the one that posted shitloads of Skylanders videos when that’s only a small portion of your audience. You’re the one that decided bashing classic games was a better idea than looking at legit bad games. You’re the one that doesn’t fucking communicate with your fan base!
I often see people say “Irate Gamer is still around?”. Which is probably why it feels like I’m the only person calling out your immense bullshit, because to most people you’ve completely fallen off the face of the earth. Though your Splatoon review seems to be going around, mostly for how cringy and terrible it is.
But the views reflect that, most of your videos struggle to get views now, and you aren’t doing anything to make that better. That’s why you’re struggling. I know you won’t listen to me, preferring to pretend to be your mom and crying about how I’m a Nazi and a liar, but consider that you need to do way more if you want to make money on YouTube.

Anyone brave enough to buy his book and attempt to read through the muck? I imagine it won’t change a damn thing.

  2. I haven't seen the video but by reading this post I really don't want to watch it. Bores is so full of shit with the ghost stuff and his "ability to speak to ghosts". Anyone with a brain cell would know that ghosts aren't real. Also bores really doesn't take hate well. He claims he works for the FBI to try his best to make Hunter The Hunter shit in his pants, he poses as his own mother just to scare haters and even fans away, he calls BatDan a nazi and says he keeps comparing him to avgn even though he only did that in the ninja turtles post, he reads this blog and the comments (he'll see this comment and will block me from his channel) and yet doesn't use this blog to make his videos better, he ignores hate mail about ZAMN or his shitty Skylanders videos, he abandoned his other channel because he wasn't getting subscribers, and the list goes on about how he doesn't take hate or criticism well. Also he praises videos hating on AVGN on his LadyBuggin777 account, he used to do it on his IrateFanboy345 account, and he denies watching AVGN but it was an obvious lie once he made the begging spoof. God this was a long ass comment.

  3. At this point, I'd say Bores is just about done with his (YouTube) career. It's only a matter of time until he says "Fuck YouTube and fuck all of you, I'm out."

    1. Here's how the IG app would work!
First option in the app say "alright gaming gurus" or make an obvious green screen effect?
Second option review a shitty game like AVGN, or bash a great game for dumb reasons?
Third option make an unfunny food reference about the game, or make a completely random reference that has nothing to do with the game.
Fourth option, bash the games intro or bash the games story?
Fifth option Make random special effects or a random reference?
Sixth Option (conclusion) bash the games ending, or destroy the game?
I want to see what you guys would choose for those options if there's an IG app like that. There will never be one like that but let's pretend there is. I already commented saying his on the last post but I want to know what you'd choose.

      Delete
    2. Final Option: Put a card at the end with GotGame's logo or a channel plug with the obligatory and still lame and uncool "Game On."

      Delete
    3. Where's the "fuck up pronunciation" option?

      Delete
    4. I think that final option should be in an. IG NEO app.

  5. You know I try to be a positive person but I just don't see Chris getting this book published. Now I will give credit to Chris for trying to get away from Youtube because it will never work for him, but this book will never happen just like his other book who's name escapes me, I want to say it was The Dark Crystals but I love The Dark Crystal film and don't want to think it had the same name.
Anyway the reason why I don't think this book will happen is because it won't get published. It will never get published because 1. if his generic fantasy story didn't get published what hope does a bullshit ghost theory, that being said why even a book why not appear on TV which is by his account groundbreaking information, 2. since a publisher won't publish it that means he will have to self publish, which makes me wonder why he didn't do that with his fantasy book series but whatever, and if he can't pay for someone to do a generic cover in photoshop than how the hell can he afford to self publish.

  8. >“The new 52 version of Batman is going through a rough period right now with terrible storylines”

As always, quality is always subjective. But personally, I think Bores is just talking shit about something he's not even reading, just like always.

Batman's come off of a mostly-well lauded year long weekly, he's had some success with the creatives on Detective Comics, and the main book with Scott Snyder (putting aside the more critical aspects of Endgame since that's a whole other can of worms) selling like hotcakes with the current New Batman story (again aside from some people crying "Won't buy till muh Bruce is back"). And the other Batbooks are apparently doing well as well (ex. Grayson is doing great despite the outcry of the announcement that Nightwing was going to become a spy for the foreseeable future).

  9. BatDan, why do you think Wizard World is in love with JDF? Has he done anything outside of Power Rangers?

    1. He had a stint on Saban's adaptation of Sweet Valley High and "Galaxy Quest"-like movie, and there was an episode of Family Matters where he plays a bully to Urkel. That's about it I think.

    2. The movie was called Junior Defenders. And I forgot his appearance in MTV's Undressed.

      Delete
    3. Interesting to say the least, as he used to not think very highly of his time on the show. I think the turnaround might have come from doing the cameo in "Forever Red" in Wild Force, later the Black Dino Thunder Ranger and now the cameo at the end of Super Mega Force (not to mention expressing interest in the planned film reboot; possibly as a PG13 action piece). Also, rather telling that he did name drop an actual good channel that does PR stuff in Ranger Review when they looked at the first of many DVD collections while Christopher's name was conspicuous by its absence in those awful storyline reviews.

      Delete
    4. I think I might know why Chris likes JDF. It's because his entire fanbase (at least Wizard World) like to glorify him for doing virtually nothing compared to most people. Kind of like all of Chris's fans and how they look up to him as a God of entertainment and blindly agree with his "fuck the haters" mentality and preaching. It explains so much. Also, wasn't Johnny Yong Bosch a Power Ranger at one point. Because he's still around doing voice acting, mostly for English dubs of anime. He probably deserves more attention than JDF for actually still doing things that people still see.

      Delete
    5. Yes, Johnny Yong Bosch was on Power Rangers from 1994 to 1997, and even gave us the memorable "I'm a frog" line in the 1995 MMPR movie.

  12. Off-topic: The much-maligned Fantastic Four reboot has now dropped more in its third weekend than Ant-Man has in its sixth. I plan on going to the latter tonight; hopefully ending the summer on a high note after being thoroughly impressed by Ultron (which I consider to be a worthy sequel to The Avengers and a really good movie on its own). There is still a very high possibility the rights could be sold back to Marvel; but nothing's really been officially said so far. Hell, even Story's films made $100 million domestic apiece despite all the bad press; and that was before we had the likes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and The Dark Knight Saga to follow as models!

I wanted to do this mostly out of kindness, because I've historically thought that people (including those here in this blog) have been excessively cruel to him. Frankly, I think that everyone should have the chance to succeed in something in their lives. It's a genuine offer I would make to anyone who wanted to be a successful author.

This is an extremely thorough and cohesive offer that I am making him, one in which I am offering my personal assistance in both editing and formatting his book, structuring it and ensuring that the contents are the most eye-pleasing and accessible as possible. I also offer my own work on creating a variant supply of covers, typically three in total which is usually enough to last for a decade. I offer advice on online marketing, choosing the best keywords and search strings to maximise visibility and helping to form a financial budget for advertising, and to help provide the vital networking within both local distributors and author/reader groups that are important to keeping your work in the public eye.

That's a big offer that I'm making to Chris, it's basically all of the skills that I've put together in my career as an author.

I'll let you know how it goes.

    1. Good on you for being the better man. And you're right; many of us here do (wrongly) get a kick out of bringing Bores down.

Calling him out on his bullshit made sense back when the angry review trend was new and everyone (including Chris) was trying to hop on the bandwagon.

Now in 2015, I think even Chris is aware of his mistake in pursuing the Irate Gamer path so stubbornly and for so long, hence his attempts to slowly distance himself from it. Not that he doesn't deserve at least a little flak for the shadier stuff he's pulled, but the guy really has fallen off the radar at this point for most (including myself). And he's pushing forty, for Christ's sake. That's a scary thought.

So hopefully he responds in a reasonable manner.

      Delete
    2. Yeah your not wrong in saying people on here are too cruel to Chris, though I do hate him for what he said suicide and selling the artist of TIGG artwork but that's only because I'm personal offended by it. And while I may seem too mean in my previous comment but I do give credit to Chris for getting away from Youtube for something because it really most have had a negative impact on his life. However I still honestly believe he won't get this book published same as I believe the graphic novel I'm working titled Starlight doesn't have a good chance getting published, and that's for something I'm making. Though in my case it's because I'm not a great artist but whatever. Maybe Chris well get his book published I just don't see it happening.

    3. While I do think Chris isn't really all that good of a person and while I think that he has rightfully deserved his universally hated reputation on the Internet, you're right. If we want Chris to improve, helping him will do a lot more than constantly bashing his work and actions. I admit that I am probably one of those people that has been excessively cruel to him, and looking back at some of the things I said about him on this blog and on Twitter, I just wish I never said some of those things. If Chris really does want to make videos on YouTube for more than just money, and if he really does love making them, we should take a kinder approach to actually giving him advice on his work. Otherwise, he should probably just stay off of YouTube, which is probably for the best for him and for all of us here on the blog.

      Delete
    4. In all seriousness, go for it. But I wouldn't be surprised if Chris came back with a "thanks but no thanks" response. I'm sure you're aware, but a lot of people like yourself who have been sympathetic toward Chris and wanted to help him willingly haven't fared all that well.

Guru Larry is one prime example who tried to help out Chris with his material and even offered to help edit one of his scripts. Of course, Chris declined and at some time unfriended him on Facebook. Not a sensible move but goes to show what kind of a guy he is.

    5. @Justin Parallax: another possibility which I'd think is more likely is that Chris will completely ignore your message.

    6. If I was to give give Chris some helpful advice in his career it would be following:

      1. Stop lying. He has several times lied to his viewers, last time I think was in his punch out "let's play", not admitting that it was a post commentary (in the comment section I think he says that the fact he is scratching himself when Little Mac is punching is because of some screen delay). If you do a mistake, that's fine, we all do, but don't be dishonest about it.

      2. Engage other people to either give input to his scripts or co-write his scripts. Much of his humor is unbareble, but some jokes has potential, although they almost always miss the mark. When that's the case, it's never wrong to ask for help.

      3. Kill your darlings. So many jokes in his reviews feel so forced. Even if the joke doesn’t make any sense or has any place in this particular review Chris puts it in there, wich even make the jokes with potential crinchworthy. One example is in his Aladdin-review when a bunch of Aladdins land in hell and the devil says something like "Where do these keep comming from?" This joke could have worked if the section in the game acually was hard, but as it is now, the joke doesn’t make any sense at all. And that’s another good reason to get help with your scrips, a co-writer could have said “It a fun idea, but save it for another review”.

      4. Turn your weakness into strengths. It’s obvious that Chris isn’t a very good gamer, and not a game enthusiast. He always complain that games are hard, gets the facts about games wrong and so on. Therefore it’s so hard to take him serious when he in The Irate Gamer Show is sopposed to be a hardcore gamer (being “the chosen one” in last season etc.). But if he would do a show where he plays bad, complain that games are hard, get all the facts wrong and that’s the joke I think he might be on to something funny. I recently watched his review of Star Trek on the NES and was baffled! Most of the things he complained about seemed to be things that went wrong because he didn’t understand how to play the game. When he killed animals although he was supposed to stun them, attacked the romulans although Spock adviced him not to I thought “How can he be this stupid! Of course he has problems with the game, it’s like playing Metal Gear like you play Contra!” But I also thought that if that actually would be the joke this episode could have been funny.

      5. Put your ghost-hunting videos on a different channel. If I visit a channel called The Irate Gamer one of the last things I expect to see is videos about ghost hunting. I don’t belive in ghosts, I am not interested in ghost hunting and I am not interested in hearing someone talking about ghost hunting. And I don’t think people that are interesting in ghost hunting would visit a channel called The Irate Gamer to look for ghost hunting videos.

What advice would you give to Chris?

    7. Here's my advice to Chris: Get out of your bubble.

      Delete
    8. My advice depends on what Chris is serious about. If he is completely committed to this girlfriend and her kids, then he needs to cultivate a steady career in video pre- and post-production, which he's shown a solid aptitude for. And bravo and congratulations if he does so.

If he really cares only about himself and becoming famous, then man, good luck, but cut yourself loose from other humans, because showbiz is a crazy hell ride even for the most talented applicants.

    9. I have had a discussion with Chris concerning what he is looking for in a book. He has not replied since Wednesday, leading me to believe that he has decided not to continue the conversation.

I am left with the definite impression that he is not particularly interested in any of the actual hard work involved in crafting a successful book, such as ensuring that it is accurately proofed and edited, structured, or the necessary tasks of marketing, networking or distribution. In all honesty, the genuine impression that I got from my conversation with Chris is that he was only looking for someone to provide him with free artwork for the cover.

This is the log of our conversation.

Hello, I have seen your youtube video asking for help with your book. I have written seven books, two of which have been on the bestseller charts on amazon in both YA and horror genres, "Return to 'Return to Oz'" and "Diary of a Gay Teenage Zombie". I'd be willing to help you out to get your book up and running. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks.

Okay cool. First things first, the customers will always turn off a book, even one with a strong cover, if the contents aren't laid out well and easy to navigate. What's a quick overview of each chapter that you've got?

The cover tends to be one of the least important aspects of maintaining a book's ongoing recurring sales. Most published and even self-published works have iterations of different covers which they alternate over each publication, while the interior stays the same. If you're certain that the cover is the only part that you need the help with, I can do some to help with that, but I'd also happily offer my use as editing and proofing. I've done the work on my novel's own covers myself though, in particular my first one, "Return to 'Return to Oz'" (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LRZD1C6), so have a look at that and let me know if you would like to have me work on yours too?

Hate to inform you of this but I just got a submission that is too good to pass up so I thought I'd let you know now before you sink tons of work into the cover. Thankyou very much for the offer. Your book sounds very neat. i might have to check it out in the future!

Okay great, you've got the cover sorted, I'm glad of that. As I mentioned before, you'll need variations on that cover in order to maintain eye traffic from your customers. How are you set for marketing and distribution? I've found that it's best to set a budget for online marketing and to maximise your brick and mortar bookstore presence, do you have many independent stores in your local area who you can approach to stock your work?

      Chris Bores
      Wednesday 17:10
I'm trying to get to all that little by little

      Justin MacCormack
      Wednesday 19:35
Okay good. I'd be willing to help you with that. There's two real methods of distribution and marketing these days, online and physical bookstores. For online, the most important things to allow you to succeed is ensuring that you have the right search keywords available, and ease of visibility. There are many blogs that will help with that by offering review services, I have a fairly comprehensive list of the ones that I use. Which publishing group are you with?

    10. Hrm, it doesn't surprise me much to hear Bores rejecting your help of editing and proofing. I said previously that you're not the first one who's tried to do that with him.

There could be many reasons to why he hasn't replied. Could be because his GF's kid's going back to school soon and needs to take care of her. Although I'd suspect that Chris has more likely realized that you've been posting on this site and immediately assumes that you're another troll out to get him.

    2. The flick is on track to be $54-$76 million in the hole by the end of the summer. That could be a Tuesday video; or another masturbatory Skylanders or 80s video. By the way, what does everyone think of Nintendo possibly wanting to get directly involved with making movies? Even with the bar admittedly not being too high, I think if they used the model set by Marvel for their films, it could work.

I'm not the most avid of bookreaders (sheesh I can't read anything that's not Pratchett anymore, rest his soul), but this is offensive. A hack with little to no background in any sort of literature thinks he can write a book?....well, I suppose that's a tad unfair, but choosing the subject to be about real life "ghosts"? With his abysmal track record, I can make an exception to my "anyone can write" mantra.

  20. So, with another Tuesday of nothing, and September slowly approaching; I shall address Chris' summer movie preview with how each release panned out.
San Andreas: Despite being roundly panned; it became Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's biggest non-sequel, non-franchise opening ever. For me, it's been done.
Jurassic World: While I expected it to do well; I can say that no one really expected it to be the biggest hit of any movie since Avatar or The Avengers. Rightfully so, since it was the best film since the first Jurassic Park.
Ted 2: Looks like my Hangover syndrome suggestion was too generous, as that film at least retained its audience despite being critically-reviled.
Minions: Even without Gru, the film drew crowds despite not being as good as Inside Out. I'll probably rent it when it comes out on DVD.
Ant-Man: Having seen it last night, it's easily Marvel's biggest little movie ever; being my biggest surprise since the first Iron Man or Guardians of the Galaxy even though it never reached the heights of Ultron.
Pixels: I never had too much faith in this one; and it looks like my skepticism was justified. It's currently on track to lose around $54-76 million amid competition from the likes of Ant-Man and Mission Impossible Rogue Nation.
Fantastic Four: Very large critical drubbing and public knowledge of the film's troubled production made it that much harder to overcome the Story duology's failures; which the film now has of its own. Mulligan, please.
Well, see you Friday while I work on various projects of my own.

Hell, that's already happened to him with Pixels (but he probably needs the clips this time).

    2. I personally wouldn't mind him doing Rise of Silver Surfer before the fact either. I still think this can be an opportunity to learn for any future versions of the characters; such as if Marvel gets the rights back in the near future. Definitely won't be seeing any more movies with the creator of Pac-Man being eaten by his own creation or where Dr. Doom is a cyberterrorist who plays Counter-Strike in his spare time anytime soon.

  21. A book about ghosts? Its been done before, Historic Haunted America for example. Though if you really need a spooky story fix, prairieghosts.com is a good place.

I confess, when I was young I was deep into the paranormal and the unexplained. UFO's, Bigfoot, Ghosts all that good stuff. As I grew older though, my interest in it waned, though I retain a bit of open-mindedness. I'll entertain the possibility that it might exist, but until its proven without a doubt, it deserves to be stuck in the skepticism folder.

My uncle whom I haven't seen in 10 years actually brought up my old obsession at a reunion party a few weeks back. When asked what I would do if I ever saw a ghost? "Call my therapist, I might be going crazy." Got a good laugh out of that XD

  22. So this has nothing to do with Chris I was just wondering if anyone heard it. Anyway in their latest let's play video James and Mike played Indianan Jones and the Infernal Machine for the N64 and while I haven't watched the video apparently they died and called the game shitty because they didn't know you had to press the start button to access the inventory to use an antidote. That is just amazingly stupid and what I find hilarious is in the comments they're justifying what they said because the Zelda games tell you when you pick up new items, even though the first games don't tell you and as far I could tell Zelda II never tells you how to use magic. I'm just trying to figure out if Chris would be that stupid and not press the start button, one comment I found really funny was someone comparing them to someone who only played 360 games and than tried older games that don't hold your hands. I would say they should've played Emperor's Tomb but now I feel they would bashed that for some stupid reason, I mean yeah I never played Infernal Machine but come on they couldn't be bother or were too stupid to press the start button.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Don't tell Bores, because we all know he likes to take advantage of instances where James is in weakened positions (i.e. the Cheetahmen 2 Kickstarter).

      Delete
    2. I don't think Chris could really say anything about this(make fun of maybe) because this isn't the first time something like this happen with James and Mike, I found this one to be so stupid and so funny. A couple of others time they blame the game for their mistakes was with the Denis Menace game as their was sprint that allows you to reach platforms they couldn't reach and ironically the Dr. Jeckly and Mr. Hyde game because there is a way not to get hurt but the bombs(I forget how but it's in the comments), another time I personally found infuriating due to stupidity was when they play Shadows of the Empire and kept calling the Swoop Bike level a race even though the cutscene for the level makes it clear it's not. People not figuring out a game is not nothing new but not pressing the start button is priceless. Though I would like to say this problem with James and Mike where they tend to blame the game for their mistakes whether or not it is the game fault for being cryptic or just badly designed, it makes me wonder what they would do if they play Ikqruga as the game doesn't tell you about the whole light and dark aspect of the game you would either need to know beforehand(like before the game came out with previews) or look it up read the manual(which is something brought up in the comments of their Infernal Machine let's play). By their logic Ikqruga is a bad game, sure you can play the game and beat it without ever switching between light and dark but you get my point. Or how about Alien Isolation which I don't think told you how to make items or I should say didn't tell you when you can make items for the first time but the item menu does.

      Delete
    3. Don't forget that back in their Let's Play of Highlander for the Jaguar CD, since they didn't know what to do in that game, it's obvious that James and Mike didn't bother to read the instruction manual. This was before tutorial missions were invented.

Highlander for Jaguar CD has a wonky difficulty curve, because you gotta get the sword first before trying to take on Kortan's goons. Also, Quentin MacLeod can do a sweep kick.

      Delete
  23. Heck, back to the Shadows of the Empire playthrough, I'm pretty sure they never strafed either, which I think would've made some boss fights much easier. They couldn't be arsed to at least experiment beforehand? I never thought I'd say this, but I really wouldn't want them to play Jet Force Gemini. Just saying!

  24. I don't know what Chris will post today, if anything; especially since his site just includes random bullshit about Game Boy fridge magnets (as tenuously-connected to video games as the Irate Gamer himself is) and wanting to build a real Minas Tirith (by the way Chris, they'd probably build it in New Zealand; where they filmed those movies. Granted, that would imply you'd know about that sort of thing, but still.). At least I've managed to finally get some of my backlogged videos out; so I won't have gone a whole month without uploading anything. I'll be working on more in the morning. Probably expecting yet more masturbatory Skylanders or 80s videos; or maybe an Artistic License History of Video Games. Given Boring Man's already lousy track record, he'll probably "review" another one of my favorite NES games and bash it for nonsensical reasons in lieu of an actual bad game. He's already knocked a few off in the past 8 years.

    4. I feel the same way about them trying to shotgun Yo-Kai Watch into the same juggernaut it is in Japan; which I don't think will happen. Putting it up against Black Ops III doesn't help; since "cute" games have tended to always lose out when launched against "manly" ones (Rayman Legends lost quite a few potential buyers to Grand Theft Auto V; creating a conundrum for me as I like both games). Personally, I'm not a fan of the franchise because of the anime; and the game could go like this: Jinbanyan has chocolate bars. The Black Ops guys have automatic weapons. My money's on CoD, Activision's whoring be damned.

    5. StevenPR-92, everyone knows that here in America, Pokémon will always be the #1 "mons" franchise. Others will either stay in Japan or fade into obscurity here. Except for Digimon, which was always the "Pokémon alternative".

    6. Thank you, iDuck. Even if I were to remove Call of Duty from the equation; that game is still going up against a murderer's row of anticipated entries from established franchises; including some of Nintendo's other warhorses (with Mario Maker and Star Fox Zero being notable heavy hitters). I have long considered Digimon a worthy opponent as time passed (to the point where I'm actually looking forward to the Tri movies). The ground is littered with nonstarters that have tried to horn in on that territory otherwise. I may change my mind about the game if I somehow get a demo; but the anime totally lost me with how Keita behaves like a lobotomized Bidoof all the time, to the point where I'll most likely be playing as Fumiko; something I rarely, if ever do in an RPG if I'm given a choice.

Moving into a new place and dealing with a friend of mine dying haven't helped. Still, working on them helped come to terms with the loss of folk like Justin Carmical, Leonard Nimoy and Satoru Iwata; so I shall continue, and there's not a damn thing Boring Man can do to deter that from me.

It's an amazing movie and Pixar's big comeback after two underwhelming films. (Yeah, Brave wasn't really a good film the more I think about it.)

And then I saw IG's review of it and wow...it's garbage. He never talks about the film itself, how he thinks of the story, what are the pros and cons, nothing. And he calls Riley a teenage girl when she's actually 11 years old (12 by the end of the film.)!

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided's preorder is bullshit.

The preorder process is break into five tiers. If you preorder now, you get the first tier and get the game four days before the actual release date. If preorder sales rise, you'll get second, third and fourth tiers and when the game reach it's preorder goal, everyone will get the fifth tier.

If you don't want that, you can get the collector's edition that includes ALL FIVE TIERS. So what is the point of preordering when you can buy the collector's edition?!?! What are the chances of the game NOT reaching it's global preorder goal?!

    4. Why does he masturbate over Skylanders so much?

      Delete
    5. Because they give him the two things he cares most about. Money and attention.

      Delete
    6. Exactly. Since Superchargers is launching very soon; I can expect more of this self-indulgent stroking of both his and Bobby Kotick's plastic ego in the form of yet more videos clogging up his channel (since TheSkylanderC was a nonstarter. Seriously, Chris; Irate Skylanders or Skyrate Gamer would have made more sense, as would actually making the effort to moderate several channels).

  43. So, new Nostalgia Critic, "The Smurfs", and "Starcade:Episode 4".

    1. I'm enjoying StarCade, but it feels like JonTron is slowly morphing into Peter Griffin.

    2. Maybe that's just because both of them have worn Han Solo costumes before.

  44. It's already the 2nd Ohio time, and nothing. On a more positive note; the new Star Wars Battlefront is having a beta before it officially launches. It goes live in October before the game comes out in November. I may have been playing Hoth missions since Shadows of the Empire on N64; but I can honestly say I can't wait to see if it lives up to the experience of potentially putting myself in the shoes of a member of Rogue Squadron in the midst of Echo Base being stormed. It's also more than just a reskinned Battlefield I gather too; since I'm not the biggest fan of that series; but I sure do love me some Star Wars.

  45. What's the over/under on Bores taking a full two-week break? (Which is still way peppier than his overall pace, but he made a point of promising three videos a week mere months ago)

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It's 11:30P Ohio time, and nothing. Dialing it back to two videos a week hasn't helped this either; which makes the inability to stick to his own schedule my tentative worst moment for this year unless something else happens in the next three months (especially irritating for someone like me; since I HATE missing deadlines I set for myself; having just come off a month of wrestling with iMovie to finally get back on track with my channel).

    1. I expect more of these fucking videos as the game gets closer to launching. Tomorow is Force Friday; I can only imagine what Chris is going to do for that, if anything (since he let May 4th slip through his fingers). I'm going out tomorrow to see what I can find and get my hands on (leaning towards a Kylo Ren lightsaber and some apparel; maybe costume components so I can be a Jedi this Halloween and practice for when the movie opens).

    2. *Tomorrow, damn Google redesign. Easy on the eyes, but hard on the bandwidths, as per usual.

    3. Posts nothing for 2 weeks and then posts a video stroking Skylanders' dick. I'm sure his fans will appreciate that.

    4. And he wonders why he constantly loses subscribers. It seems like he just does his "regular stuff" as an afterthought!
      -_-

      Delete
    5. ...Aaaand two more Skylanders vids totalling just under six minutes.

      Delete
    6. Well, now he's sure to lose subs this weekend. Why not just put them both together in one video? Oh yeah, ad revenue.

    1. Quite possibly when Activision runs it into the ground and quietly tries to reversion it again, like with Guitar Hero. Here I am, geeking out about Force Friday and the fact that the BB-8 RC droid sold out its first day on the market; which should be an indicator of how well Episode VII will do. I'm personally after some of the cosplay equipment, as Star Wars is my top source for it (with particular focus on the Kylo Ren lightsaber). Well, guess I'll go finish It's a Trap; then watch Return of the Jedi yet again.

  48. It's official: Pixels is now one of the biggest flops of the year, with $75 million in the hole. So, I can officially add the Donkey Kong "review" to my tentative worst moments of the year. Hotel Transylvania 2 might be interesting; but more for Genndy Tartakovsky than Sandler in my case. Probably will watch the first before I decide if I want to go. Add that to his Skylanders fetish reaching even further lows and his inability to keep a schedule HE set for HIMSELF (which other internet reviewers can do just fine), and I already have some good options unless something worse happens.

    2. Oh yes, Fant4stic is currently sitting in at least $80 million of red ink; making the possibility of the rights being given back to Marvel in the near future more and more likely even though nothing has been confirmed as of yet. At least Story's films banked $100 million domestic; making this the biggest superhero bomb since Green Lantern. Here's hoping Deadpool will give Fox a hit outside the X-Men franchise for non-MCU Marvel films. For now; that bomb now has even bigger superhero backlash than the likes of Batman and Robin or Superman IV: The Quest for Peace, bat-nipples and Nuclear Man be damned.

      Delete
    3. Steven: You're deciding that the DK review is now worse than it originally was, based on how bad Pixels was? This sounds like warped post-hoc thinking to me- Bores had no role in Pixels. Take Bores' videos for what they are; they'll be bad enough on their own without straining for further justification after the fact.

      Delete
    4. That wasn't my intention. I had always intended to stay away from the film; and seeing Boring Man promote it as it totally tanked just furthers how awful the review was. No straining necessary or intended.

      Delete
    5. I mean, it was already a pretty abysmal video from the word go. The fact that he promoted a film that totally backfired on him when it was critically and commercially drubbed is merely the final nail in the proverbial coffin. All I'm saying is that I was wondering whether or not to include that specific one in my tentative worst moments because of that. Now I'm certain; although I still think failing to stick to his own set schedule is going to be on top unless something worse happens in the next three months.

  49. Two weeks of radio silence for 5 fucking Skylanders videos in one day. Here I am, just having come off making and uploading my review of Return of the Jedi for Force Friday to my channel. Now that I've finished my look at the saga (in machete order; since I already did Phantom Menace when it was in 3D in 2012); think I'll watch Jedi again while I mull over what to do in the interim before Episode VII opens (both versions of Clone Wars might be something; and I'll probably look at the Holiday Special as part of my traditions since starting college. Hopefully The Force Awakens will be a better Life Day present than that pile of bantha fodder).

    1. Bored attempted to do it with the Mario is Misiing review, but with the new Board James it worked because it was two alternate James Rolfe characters against each other. Bored just stole from Malcom In The Middle and had two separate timeline plots that were unnecessary.

      Delete
    2. Sorry for the obvious autocorrect.

    3. Someone should write a fanfic where Board James discovers that he's really BORES James; the premise is too scary for Cinemassacre to touch.

      Delete
    4. Bores also stole from the film Sliding Doors with the Mario is Missing review.

      Delete
    5. So Board James is a prequel to AVGN.

Does that mean this will be the last Board James episode?

      Delete
    6. One thing I would've done if I were James is since board james turned into AVGN, this has to take place around 2003-2004. James should've been wearing his old Nerd glasses instead of the new thick ones that he wears now. Just a little nickpick though. i'm just wondering if AVGN hallucinates Guitar Guy since he constantly dies and comes back to life with ABBA. Who knows if Bullshit man is really just a guy will BS on his face.

      Delete
    7. Maybe he's trying to set up an AVGN video where he reviews terrible board game video games, and the Nerd breaks down and becomes Board James.

      Delete
    8. That would actually be cool. Sounds pretty likely too.

  53. So, you know that guy in the comments section on Irate Gamer's videos named GAME FLAME? You know, the one who always posts things on every one of his videos like "cool" or "that seems interesting," the typical ass-kissing stuff? Well, he's also one of Bores's writers for his site...and Bores doesn't even pay him:

  54. So, I may not have been able to get my Kylo Ren lightsaber yet; but I did manage to get a nice Star Wars shirt with the image of the original poster on it. While out, I also tried a bit of Splatoon; and as I expected, it was really fun. It also means I can officially debunk Boring Man's horrid review; since he clearly did not understand the gameplay mechanics despite having more time than I did at Target to play. Retspurae could not riff it soon enough. Finally, I still think his acting in that review makes Tommy Wiseau look like Laurence Olivier. It's on my tentative list of the worst moments of the year unless something else happens (apart from my early top choice of failing to stick to his own set schedule). Well, see you all Tuesday.

  55. I hope to GOD that he stay the hell away from the XCOM 2 novel.

    ReplyDelete
  56. You know... I just realized... James Rolfe read a novelization of a video game, too! Mega Man II, to be exact. I wonder if Chris Bores ever saw those videos of James reading that and thought that five years later, he could do the same thing with the novelization of Arkham Knight? Only he's (Bores) doing it wrong...

What is wrong with them?" or "YouTube, please do something to stop stupid faggot pigs from abusing the dislike bar." We truly are monsters. How dare we have opinions of Chris's videos and how dare we say what we honestly think about them. No one should be able to like or dislike a video on YouTube if it means having to show that you don't like something.
