Tedious Ten Minute Update

*stretches* Oh man, another long break is over. After three weeks of nothing, Chris Bores finally posted a new video.
An update video... over ten minutes long... oh joy.
Alright, let's hop on the bullshit train.

The description apologizes for the lack of videos, claims that he's been doing some "interesting" things (probably ghost garbage) and that a new review is soon. Then he says to "Been patient!" Did you mean "Be patient"? This is why you turn auto-correct off your phone Chris.

First thing mentioned is Ghost Hunting 2.0.
He claims he's been getting nice e-mails about it, probably from the people he paid to shill it on Amazon.
Then he mentions the Amazon accolades he got.  Such as "#12 in Books > Religion & Spirituality > Occult & Paranormal > Ghosts & Hauntings" Chris, I want you to look up what Overly Narrow Superlative means. All your accolades fall under that. It's not even the best-selling book in those fields either, it means nothing. Also, these only lasted a day. What a joke.
Also, I love how the Amazon picture he shows has the book at 4 stars, when all those fake reviews flooded in. Not suspect at all Chris.

Next thing mentioned is his appearance on Coast to Coast AM. Which if you recall, Bores called in a couple years ago to try and "debunk" the guest they had on with his own theories. Which he did by asking a question, then getting it answered, then Bores going on Facebook and lying, saying they hung up on him because they "couldn't handle the truth" or something.
Blah blah blah, he had a good time, whatever.
He then claims he got e-mails from the show's fans saying he piqued their interest. I seriously doubt any of this, are people this gullible? *checks Coast to Coast AM* Apparently it gets a cumulative weekly audience of 2.75 million listeners. So this is why people drink...

Then he mentions how he had to go to bed early, get up at 2:50, make some tea, WHO THE FUCK CARES CHRIS? See, this is the crap you should edit out.

Next thing is some "paranormal conference" he went to over the weekend. Ah yes, a gathering of idiots. Like the Gathering of the Juggalos with less fried food and nudity.
Mentions big names, including Grant Wilson from Ghost Hunters. ... I'll get to him.
Mentions that he hosted a lecture, with a pictures to show this. I can just imagine that tiny audience is a bunch of religious nutjobs that tune their radios to Rush Limbaugh everyday.
He claims they were engaged and that this was soooo interesting. God, the bullshit he spews.
He goes on about "stuff that's never been presented" and how special his research is and blah blah blah blah blah.
He says you can only understand his "methods" if you read the book. Well, people have read your book, and they call it crap. You're full of crap Chris.

Then he became "overwhelmed" as his table became surrounded with people that want to buy the book. ... Uh huh...
He shows a picture with... three people. You're not very good at this "evidence" thing are you Chris? Of course, the Opening Up video showed us that "evidence is for losers"

He "gushes" about how sooo many people bought his book, and he saw people walking around with it. Why don't I believe any of this?
"I'm always humble" PFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFT HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Fuck you Chris.
"I don't come across that way due to my Irate Gamer schtick" No, even out of character, you're never humble. You're an egotistical asshole that refuses to take criticism and you stay in your own little safe space refusing to accept reality. *twirls mustache*

He mentions how he had a chat with Grant Wilson, how Grant not only bought his book, but asked for an autograph. Chris, you do realize that Grant Wilson is a con artist right? A much better one than you are considering you're falling for his tricks. This (old) article points out that Wilson fabricated evidence on Ghost Hunters. Along with the fact that Ghost Hunters is fucking scripted.
That's why your "show" failed Chris, you actually tried to be "real", and it was boring as fuck.
I guess hacks attract hacks.
I just realized, the ghost hunting community is just one big circlejerk. It's all the same people patting each other on the back over something that isn't even fucking real. It's one big pile of idiots, with the charismatic ones cashing in on the idiots.
He also shows a low quality video Grant shot on his cell phone for his Perioscope account and he's in it. Hey "professional" ghost hunter, turn the phone on its side! Vertical video is a fucking plague.

Blah blah blah blah. "They welcomed me with open arms" You are lucky they did not Google you. In fact, let me see what happens when I Google "Chris Bores"
Result 1 is the IG Encyclopedia Dramatica page. Not a good first impression.
Result 2 is Chris' Twitter
Result 3 is the Opening Up video
Result 4 is my post debunking above video
Result 5 is the IG IMDB page, with show rating of 2.2/10 clearly displayed.
Result 6 is the IG Know Your Meme page
Result 7 is the AVGN Subreddit talking about the Opening Up video
Result 8 is the Pursuit of the Paranormal site
Result 9 is the Irate Gamer site.
You're lucky that they didn't look you up.
EDIT: Just received clarification that Google actually changes search results depending on your personal preferences. Other people can search Chris Bores and find completely different things. That being said, I can't imagine searching Chris Bores will net you much positive feedback.
"I threw some good jokes in there" Was it your laundry list of terrible R.O.B. puns? With explanations after everyone is told?

"I do feel this is the beginning of something interesting" If you want to be part of this stupid niche that most people consider a joke...
He says he was going to do another panel with some stupid show nobody's heard of but him, but it was cancelled due to lack of attendance. I expect Chris will hear that a lot...
"I'm on their radar" And if they look you up, expect to be off of it.

Next point is that Chris claims people have been asking when he'll go to their state to do a ghost lecture. Nobody has been asking that Chris, don't try and kid us.
No, his real point is that if you want Bores in your state, bug whatever paranormal conference is nearby.
"If you want the Irate Gamer to come to your state" Yes, if you want the Irate Gamer to show up and NOT talk about the Irate Gamer... How stupid are you Chris?
Also, he's begging people to tell these places to invite him. Just ask for money, you know you want to. But you also know that if you do, people call you a hypocrite (more so than usual) after your little spiel about e-Begging being terrible.
Oh and he even adds that you need to do the same for Comic Cons and "what-not". Chris, have you ever considered the reason you're not invited to these is that you have a notorious reputation that is beyond repair because you refuse to repair it? Chances are slim your remaining fanbase will do this, and if they do, there won't be enough voices to justify inviting you.
EDIT: I just got word from Linkara that this is something that's common for multiple video producers. That if fans want them at a convention, the fans themselves have to ask and beg the convention. Though my second point still stands, does Chris still have enough of a fanbase to raise demand for him?

Anyway, video ends with him saying that he's working on the new IG review. Proving that his "I'm considering retirement" announcement was a pathetic plea for attention.
"I'm back on the pole" ... That's not an expression. What pole? Don't answer that.
Oh no, more "tech reviews". Can't wait for more shit from Chinese companies that people want him to shill.

Nothing more than to wait... but some interesting things to bring up.

I decided to check out the Lost Media Wiki after some time has passed, hopefully to find some new interesting lost artifacts. Scrolled down and I saw a page for The Irate Gamer Game. Makes sense to include that since it is "lost" now. You might be asking "why would anyone want this recovered"? Well the site just archives stuff that's lost, no matter how horrid. That includes death videos like Steve Irwin, Christine Chubbuck, Owen Hart, and Timothy Treadwell.

They might have to update again as IG has taken down some videos.
Last week, Bores posted the contents of the October Loot Crate on his site. I thought it was odd he didn't make a video, but then I checked his channel and saw the video from back in April was gone. Yeah, go check yourselves, it came before the Punch-Out "review". No clue why...
The blooper video that came out after is gone too. Probably to try and get people to buy the DVD.
According to Andrew Schroy, Chris' tribute to Leonard Nimoy is gone too. Checking myself, it is. Probably trying to hide his awful behavior of profiting off his death and telling people to subscribe. While I may not have the video, I do have a screenshot showing the ads on it, and the fact it existed.

That's all for now everyone.

  1. Did anyone save that fucking video, or is that video gone forever?

  2. This doesn't even qualify as an update video. This is just 10 minutes of Bores gushing about ghost garbage no one cares about and stroking his own ego. Practically nothing was said about the Irate Gamer.

  3. Still including the monetized "tribute" to Nimoy on my tentative worst moments; still topped by BookGate (looking into the people Chris cites in the book; he isn't the only one that's been outed as a fraud in their field). If a new IG episode is next; I seem to be sensing a pattern that he's reviewing NES games that played some part in Captain N (using Punch-Out, Kid Icarus and Mega Man as barometers, not to mention my least favorite one of the year so far in Donkey Kong). If he does Castlevania or Metroid; it will be even further evidence, despite the fact the show has indeed become quite infamous for its shoddy production values and controversial liberties they took to this day with my favorite NES games. It may have some ironic camp to it (to the point where I wouldn't be surprised if Kevin was included as SSB4 DLC with his Zapper and a Power Pad Final Smash); but on its own, I don't really care for it among '80s cartoons as much as Transformers, GI Joe; or Duck Tales (which I'm also displeased he trashed the NES version of). Well, see you Friday Dan.

    3. @Andrew. I don't know; given how flagrantly he's stolen Power Rangers footage (if that terrible finale is riffed, it would have to be somewhere besides YouTube because of Saban and Toei, not to mention Viacom's partnership from Samurai onward). I personally wouldn't put it past him to make an Irate the 80s of it, though.

    4. Funny you should mention Castlevania...

  4. Not a bad video; just boring. I wonder if his next IG episode will be Castlevania, thus completing the games featured in Captain N?

    1. Well, that or Metroid. Can't forget how their version of Mother Brain was turned from an all-powerful abomination to an ineffectual sympathetic villain that's a key reason why the show is such a joke to those that aren't Boring Man.

    2. I'd be surprised if Bores could get past the first screen in Metroid without cheating.

  5. I think it's safe to say that 2015 has been one of Bores's absolute worst years to date so far. The top 10 worst moments list this year might not even be a top 10. There's enough wretchedness from him to muster up a top 15 or even a top 20 list this time.

  6. To be fair, for a lot of video producers like Bores (and myself, for that matter), going to conventions is an expensive thing that we can only really do if we REALLY want to go or if people invite us, so asking fans to have cons invite them is not unusual - I do it myself when people ask me to attend a certain con. Conventions will often take fan requests and go by fan demand for who they want at a con.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Ooooh, I see. Thanks for the explanation.

Though my second point still stands. Does Chris have enough of a following to get high demand for a convention?

      Delete
    2. I mean, he literally told his fans to "bug" people to let him come.

      Delete
    3. Bores probably thinks he will make money and have his expenses paid.

      Delete
    4. That's understandable. Of course it would be great to see you at Salt Lake Comic Con but no one can attend them all. I live here and I couldn't manage to get tickets.

Of course what Bores wants is free tickets. That is a very different matter. What he is doing here is asking his fans to pressure convention planners into giving him free stuff. And he says he never e-begs.

      Delete
  7. Bores' inanity irks me to no end. When will he simply lay his egomaniacal tirades to rest and learn to rise above the vast ocean of misinformation he's weaved in--WHEN WILL HE STOP BEING SO FUCKING DUMB!?!

  8. I would invite him to my state so I can knock some sense into him

  9. When Chris talks about Grant Wilson getting one of his books he says something along the lines of "what a great honor for him to pick that up". Poor phrasing or Freudian slip exposing his ego?

    ReplyDelete
  10. When Chris shows his photo of him smiling with Grant Wilson, I was like"OH MY GOD, what is wrong with your face, Chris?" Seriously, why does Chris has such a creepy smile? He also had a similar creepy smile when he took a picture with Les Gold from Hardcore Pawn.

As for Grant Wilson, I can tell he's not a professional when I see his phone video footage. Gosh, it's so blurry and the audio is terrible.

    1. Oh and another thing, when Chris shows the photo of the "paranormal fest", I shook my head. He talks as if the fest is like a really big event like Comic-Con but it seems the event is only just two small rooms (One for gathering and the other for booths) in a house or a small hotel I think.

I wouldn't consider that a big event when the venue is so small.

  25. Horrid video. His comment about spending "hours and hours" working on his book rings true- I firmly believe he threw it together in a matter of hours. The photos of him at the event show that it wasn't all that busy and after talking about the people who wanted to buy his book Chris shows two photos...of the same three women. I am curious if he offered the book at some sort of event price (read: big discount) and I suspect he offered Grant Wilson a complimentary copy.

I see Chris was happy that Grant asked him to sign the book and I don't want to diminish that but this does not add credibility to his theories or his book. When I have received copies of books from newly published writers I typically ask them to sign it as a way to flatter them.

At the end of the day his book is still a mess, the theories are, to be as kind as possible, questionable and he will never be recognized by the APA for creating a new branch of psychology.

    2. If he's trying to shoehorn in a Scooby-Doo reference; this could further the possibility of Castlevania, given his coverage of games that played some role in Captain N this year (Kid Icarus, Punch-Out, Mega Man and to some extent Donkey Kong). At the risk of pointing out that a whole month-long retrospective was already done by you-know-who, I'm just going to leave this here.

    4. Lewis Lovhaug, were you one of the characters in the That Guy With The Glasses Brawl 1 year anniversary in 2009? I really like the chemistry between all the characters in this video. I wish James and Doug did more stuff like this before James got weird with the Nerd character and preoccupied with all that movie stuff. I think they were both at their best around 2009. I don't know why James changed his acting routine with the nerd and got all fake and phony. Do you think his ego get to him when he started making the movie? I wonder what things would have been like if he didn't do that movie altogether. I think he would have continued to make better quality videos.

  35. Off topic, but do you think that video games will eventually become more virtual to the point where you're playing them through a simulator? This was something I've been pondering as far back as the N64 days. Graphics can only get so good; they're probably as good as they're going to get, and it know that game companies are experiencing more with more innovative styles of gameplay. Plus I know that virtual games have been created in places like Disney Quest and it won't be long before it becomes a thing for a home console. I don't play many video games anymore, particularly newer games, just cause of lack of time and money, but I'd really be down to try a virtual simulator console.

" For instance, the author touches on Quantum Physics. Alot of what I read on Quantum Physics from other books is usually the same re-hashed material. You know, stuff like, the Zero Point, Everything relative to the observer etc etc - but the author, Chris Bores goes beyond the basic definitions and connects quantum physics to paranormal communication in a practical way that I have never seen before. The key is that his writing is based on experience - experience is the best teacher."

" Also, as a person who read the Tibetan Book of the Dead, the author does a GREAT JOB in applying the concepts of that book to the modern world."

" I knew the author Chris Bores was/is a real expert in this field from the first time I saw him actually. I recognized his name from being on the TruTV Nationally Syndicated show "Hardcore Pawn". "

    2. That, and... who talks like this?!

"I recognized his name from being on the TruTV Nationally Syndicated show "Hardcore Pawn".

    1. Oy, that was horrible.

He might as well go whole hog and do Metroid next.

    2. I guess this means that we will soon be getting a new ICBINAVGN!

    3. Or probably ICBINDLAbaoaqu...

And yes, I predict Metroid will be next.

Man, Bores is so obsessed with Captain N, isn't he?

    4. DLA said he wanted to do Castlevania. I messaged him on YouTube to see if he still wants to do the honors.

    5. Those wishes will be respected.

And BTW, I'm not even two minutes into the review, and already, I think it's crap. Cool Whip? Bores, get your mind off of food for once...

  38. That video was awful! The worst part was not recycling the first part from a earlier NES sprite fun video or recycling music and visual effects from his "movie". It wasn't even Chris & Crew rocking out with Rock Band instruments (that was awful though.)

It was the tasteless Michael Jackson joke. James did it years ago but he was more subtle about it. As usual, Chris felt the need to go too far with his joke and killed the chance for it to be funny (though the general tackiness meant it would never be funny.)

Chris says he really loves that montage. Very fitting for him.

    1. I just realized Ronnie didn't say jack shit, what was the point of him in this video?

    2. Because the game has skeletons in it. Why else?

  40. omfg in bores's castlevania episode he used that god awful song "watch me whip watch me nae nae", here goes another thing that he will be too lazy to take off the DVD! Also did anyone else think that some of the game footage looked a bit weird? Some of it seriously looks like it was some poor res youtube video. Chris also kept re-using footage like at 4:28 look at his health compared to 4:30. Chris also says "Think fast Gamer", so IG's actual name is Gamer? How lame can you get? We have AVGN called Nerd which is fine enough but Gamer for Bores? You might as well just say your full name with saying "Think fast IG" or "Think fast Irate Gamer" since all the rest of the characters in your show call you Irate gamer....except Cousin Joey who called him Chris, wait, so is his name in the show Gamer or Chris?! I'M CHRONOLOGICALLY CONFUSED HERE! SHIE-YAAT!

  41. So far Season 5 is nothing but more food references, random sprite characters showing up for no reason, using game genie, and montages up the ass

  42. The top of his YouTube page says videos every Tuesday and Friday. He released this today which is a Thursday. James & Mike have been able to release videos on schedule for years, rarely if ever missing a deadline. On the top of his YouTube page Chris should just say instead: "I'll try to release at least two videos a week, but I can't guarantee anything."

  43. That may have been even worse than the Punch-Out!! "review," Also, really Bores? You couldn't get this Castlevania "review" out in October?
