We Might Truly Be at The End of Irate Gamer

This is the way the Irate Gamer ends. Not with a grand finale, but a sad ghostly whimper.

Chris has gone through some major changes in the last couple days. Along with more videos getting deleted (he's now under 200, so much for that big celebratory video which is probably gone too), he's dropped the Irate Gamer name. His channel is now "CB Network" (pfft, network). His avatar is the one he uses on one of his Facebook pages where half his face is in shadow and he's trying to be "spooky".

The channel comes with a new description that surprisingly lacks ego.
"Chris Bores Network coming at you with a wide variety of shows: Interviews, Ghost Hunts, The Irate Gamer Show, Irate the 80's, and History of Video Games."
Interviews huh? More generic questions that have no substance?
Maybe those last three are mentioned in the same way TV networks mention repeats? Because I don't think he's coming back, at least not now.

He's started advertising his Season 5 DVD, and is claiming this is the final season.  Yeah, an entire season of bashing classic games, that's how he decides to go out. Considering Duck Hunt was the last episode produced, his show literally ends with a joke that's been done a million times, one that he's even done himself in the early days. You're really screwing over what few fans you have left if that's how you end the show. They want real closure, they want a finale, or at least a video answering questions. One that's not full of bullshit like your "Opening Up" video.
Oh and so much for "I might do Kickstarter". Yeah nice job giving false hope to your fans. That will really help you when your next project fails to take off.

This also leads into his site being changed. theirategamer.com now redirects to a revamped chrisbores.com. On there, IG is nothing more than a mention, he's all about how amazing his ghost hunting is and how he's the expert and blah blah blah ghosts are still bullshit. Love that he's still flaunting his Hardcore Pawn appearance even though the show is dead and his episode never even aired (if the story was true anyway).

What's interesting is that Chris put a new Featured Channel on the IG side. Minecraft Puppet Steve. Looks like Chris is done pretending he has nothing to do with it. I'm guessing Guru Larry exposing him made him realize he can't hide forever, no matter how many Facebook comments he deletes. Yet somehow my many posts didn't get your ass in gear. I know you read this Chris!

Is IG truly truly truly done? Hard to say, Chris has a bad habit of crawling back to it. Like when he said Season 4 was the end, but then came Season 5 when nobody wanted his ghost crap.
Sure, Minecraft Puppet Steve is doing decently right now, but Chris has a very big problem that I don't often bring up because it's not as noticeable in the short term. Chris is incapable of growth.
As Guru Larry has pointed out to me multiple times, Chris' subscriber count stagnated hard. In the last five something years, he's only gained 20k subscribers. That is depressing for someone that puts out regular content. Chris' ego made him believe that he was doing something right all along, and thus he never tried changing the Irate Gamer. If he did, it was barely noticeable. The storyline of Season 4? Same shit as before but with extra scenes and "characters". Season 5? Bashing classic games instead of legit bad ones because he's incapable of proper criticism.
A lot of people came to his channel for his History of Video Games series (I don't know why but okay), and from May 2009 to December 2015, he only got up to the Intellivision. The rare updates contributed to the stagnation.
Fans requested games all the time for IG Neo, and he very rarely took them. They wanted to see Minecraft, he never delivered. What he did deliver was often half-baked and clearly unfinished. This lead to more people leaving and less people subbing.

Chris did try to do different things in 2015. That's what it was all about. A weekly schedule of three videos, then two videos, then whenever he felt like it. See, the dwindling output is another reason you stagnated. The only time you explained things was when you went from 3 to 2, after that you didn't tell your fans anything. Your lack of communication is yet another reason. Your fans know nothing! They chomp at the bit for info about upcoming videos, but you stay silent. You pretend they aren't yelling at you.
You tried Let's Plays, but you never listened to criticism. In fact, when people pointed out moments in the Punch-Out LP where there was clear cheating, you deleted them. Hiding from the truth was never the answer. Not in 2007, not now.
You tried this new style of "crazy" review, and people HATED it. You did seem to wise up as you only did a couple more, but you were so in love with this idea that you made an entirely separate channel where you do nothing but "crazy". When those kids grow up, they're going to see what a hack you were. Just like all the kids that grew up watching Irate Gamer. More stagnation! Kids didn't want you, they wanted Let's Plays, they wanted games they know about. They don't want retro, they don't know what the NES is. They don't care about the toys you collected when you were a kid.

And yet in all these new ideas you were trying to showcase in 2015, you never tried the simplest one. Networking with other channels, having crossovers, trying to be more of a presence on the site. Sure you had a very bad reputation, but what you could have done is be honest and ask for forgiv-... wait, that kind of happened with the Opening Up video. Sure most of it was bullshit, but a lot of people believed you. Yet, when you went back into doing Irate Gamer, you made the same mistakes. Starting with DuckTales, you bashed a classic game and told the same style of jokes that made people dislike you in the first place. Then Kid Icarus, bashed a classic and told the same style of jokes. You had a golden opportunity, a chance to improve, but you went back to the same broken tools that failed you years ago. Another reason your channel stopped growing.

You tried to push your paranormal projects, but most of your channel doesn't care about that. They came for video games, and instead you show them boring night vision videos where nothing happens. Why you didn't just make a separate channel for these vid- oh right, you did. Y2B2006. My point still stands though, your fans didn't want to see this. Your big theater night from 2013? We know it was a bust, we know there was only like 20 people that showed up.
Oh and asking for positive reviews of your book on Facebook? That is the ultimate smell of desperation. You know how I know your claim that it was spammed with negative reviews was a big fat lie? The major gaps in review dates. An anonymous Amazon Customer posted a 1-star review on January 24th 2016. Someone called Truth of the 12's posted a 4-star on August 17th. A fan of yours named Michael posted a 5-star review on October 29th, the very same day you made that post crying about the negative reviews. By the way, your ploy for pity didn't work, he was the only one to give a phony positive review. In fact, the latest review posted on Halloween (also from a guy named Michael) is a 1-star review calling out your begging. We're not stupid Chris, despite what you want to think.

Do you think Puppet Steve can save you? You're making the same mistakes. Remember when you got a bunch of views from Skylanders content, and then you spammed Skylanders constantly, and all your fans left in droves? Oh hey, another reason for stagnation. You're doing the same thing, only with Five Nights at Freddy's. You got a bunch of views on FNAF content, and now you're spamming FNAF content constantly, even doing a video on a toy that was just announced. You're going to lose fans this way, they'll get tired of all the FNAF. Then again, there are bunch of channels that are nothing but Minecraft and they manage to retain an audience. But Minecraft does have a multitude of possibilities. Chris is fairly limited with what he can do with Puppet Steve, especially when every video looks and sounds the same. It's more formulaic than an episode of House.
Not to mention you're doing paid promotions without warning people that they're paid promotions! I know you're not doing Peppa Pig videos because you care for that series, I know Jazwares is following you on Twitter, why do you have to be so dishonest even in these videos for dumb kids?

Chris, for once in your life, be honest. Don't beat around the bush, don't make up stories, don't pretend to your mother and scream at people about how they're evil Clinton supporters just for disagreeing with you.
By the way, someone posted the comment "she" left on Guru Larry's video onto Chris' Facebook, and he played dumb about it, asking "what does that have to do with anything?" Come on Chris, we all know you're pretending to be mommy dearest, stop denying it.
I think you'll realize that being honest with everyone will get you some fans back.

So what does this mean for this blog? Well, if Chris posts something of interest, like a playthrough on Puppet Steve, or the sudden return of IG when he gets desperate, I'll be there. I'll also clean the spam when it happens.

What I really want to see is someone interview him, and not a fluffy late-night talk show interview, I mean a Brian Ross investigative interview that gives us answers. If not from him, then someone close. Maybe someone from GotGame that knew him? Maybe someone that worked with him? I want to get in contact with Eric Allen but I can't seem to message him on his channel. https://www.youtube.com/user/eallen001
Answers would be nice.

  1. It bears repeating. Chris started off with a Wayne's World fantasy. He began with a number of different shows (Road Trip, IG, Haunted Investigators)in hopes that some executive would fund one of them and hire Chris as a producer.

That didn't pan out but the YouTube executives back then wanted a non-Angry Nintendo Nerd show to promote. They settled on Chris and weren't familiar enough with video games to see the flaws in the Irate Gamer.

Then Chris received another boost from the plagiarism controversy. His "fame" was never built on his own talents but rather negative publicity and a bit of luck.

Still, Chris had attention and lots of subscribers. That was when he really should have worked harder on the quality of his show and networked with other gaming channels. Unfortunately for Chris, his ego wouldn't allow that.

Every project Chris takes on will end in mediocrity if he keeps neglecting the pre-production phase and instead focuses on glittery special effects and shallow characters.

  2. I wouldn't be surprised if he does another Box Wars so long as they continue to pay well.

It's really creepy how Chris claims to care about IG fans and then uses them as fodder for his shill videos and referrals.

  5. 1. Wasn't it not that long ago that he changed his channel name to "Bores TV"? Chris Bores Network? CBN? The first google results are mostly Christian Broadcast Network, Cannabanoid, and Central Bank Of Nigeria.
    2. Its pretty sad and funny to think that while Bores was considering taking fan donations for the "expenses" involved in making an episode of IG, while unbeknownst to all of us (fans, antifans, haters, etc) he was making decent bank off Steve. The worst moments list this year is gonna be pretty good, and we still have a couple months left in this wacky sick stupid year. I'm predicting a IG related video for xmas.

    1. One last thing, it must have been tough for his ego to delete all those videos. He was a few million away from 100 million, he is now just over 85 million.

    2. Yeah, I'm thinking I'll have a lot for my personal worst too; topped by openly refusing to open a Patreon in favor of all this shilling worthless crap nobody else wants. Heck, I'm even considering opening one depending on what happens next year (even though I'll most likely have my associate's degree, finding work is another story; though I imagine it will probably get easier). It would also provide motivation to make things like it has for so many; but Boring Man would rather make random puppet nonsense (Puppet Steve is definitely no Kermit the Frog in my eyes). Then again, he is the same man who couldn't be bothered to credit an extra playing the Predator or some guy with expired TMNT cereal; so I don't think he'd be capable of crediting any patrons who might have contributed to him.

    3. Thank you Spyro. I will probably be including some of the Puppet Steve moments that drew particular ire from me, and I agree that the NES reviews he did were par for the course (bashing beloved classics in lieu of actual bad games). Still, I agree that Puppet Steve is now officially the point where he's lost all ability to give a fuck, and his main channel has officially reached Eye Creatures level of not caring. Even when he still did things outside his home; it was evident in the ET review that the night sky before he blew up the mothership was very clearly filmed during the day. To quote Tom Servo: "You couldn't have picked a NICER day to film a night sequence!"

    4. When I think "CBN", I tend to think of the Christian Broadcasting Network (the first version of what is now Freeform TV) more than the Chris Bores Network myself. Though I only started watching it when it became The Family Channel in the 1990s...

And to Chris Bores, let me say this. You. Have. Really. Hit. The. Bottom. Of. The. Barrel. This. Time. Moreso than all of the other crap you pulled on people like the e-begging "spoof" and "Opening Up" videos. For once in your damn life, tell the fans about Puppet Steve instead of trying to hide from them. Doesn't help you that Guru Larry exposed Puppet Steve a fortnight ago...

  6. I've been wondering if I should do a farewell video for ICBIND, where I would thank my fans for their support and DLA for the inspiration. Bores still has Irate Gamer mentions on his site, so I don't want to do a farewell if he's crying wolf with "retirement" again, and starts a sixth season bashing Super Mario Bros. 3 saying it's too hard and has ass written all over it.

    ReplyDelete

    1. That, and it would reek of people calling him on ripping off you-know-who and his review (which also has the bonus of covering the film The Wizard; something Boring Man definitely couldn't do well).

      Delete
    2. Still, I think it would be nice if the intended "finale" of the Power Rangers "reviews" were riffed to bury the hatchet if this is the end (though the Genesis and Sega CD versions would have to be done somewhere besides YouTube because of the stolen Megazord footage).

      Delete
    3. I would hold off on the farewell video just in case he does come back. And if he doesn't do anything with the Irate Gamer Show (that isn't Box Wars or any of that crap) in 5 years, then we can safely say that he's done, and you can make the farewell video. (I know 5 years sounds too generous, but PlayItBogart just made his first review in 4 years, so anything is possible in that timeframe.)

      Delete
    4. I think 5 years is way too many. I just say that we wait 1 full year to see if he is really done. Also, Chris has said nothing about Irate the 80s and HOV which according to the channel's description appear to be separate from IG.

  7. And we never got that Superman for the NES review that he promised a while back.

This pretty much confirms that the whole reason why Chris started doing IG was because it was really popular on YouTube at the time and he wanted to jump on the bandwagon. I don't think even he thought his stichk was going to kick off as well as it did; most people only expected him to only be a fly-by-night operation like most of the other guys on YouTube jumping on the bandwagon. Now that the angry retro game reviewing fad is a thing of the past with most of the reviewers not having made any new videos (at least related to reviewing bad games) and having the AVGN only make a new video every once in a while, I think the days of IG are all but over.

  10. Well, I guess this is it. Unless Chris does another 180, I can honestly say I saw this coming as the year where he finally self-destructed. Dan, you definitely summed up the fatal flaw I have with IG as a character: more than everything else, he has consistently refused to adapt to a changing web landscape; whereas his so-called "inspiration" definitely has, to say nothing of other "caustic critic" personae on places like Channel Awesome and Red Letter Media. Even when he has, it's been in the wrong areas. I also find it astonishing that he'd rather promote shitty bloatware apps than open a Patreon, but this the same man who couldn't be bothered to credit anyone other than himself for years. So, I can totally see him sinking further into puppet nonsense (Jim Henson, he is not) and ghost bullshit (even with Pokémon X and Y's bestselling launch making his film as big a bomb as Alice Through the Looking Glass; still can't wait for Sun and Moon this month) until he officially throws in the towel, since he's at least a decent editor. If I may damn him with faint praise; he can at least try editing others' work, but I'm not sure who would want to hire him after all that he's done outside his online career. Even if he's trying to scrub it from the net, I'm not likely to forget someone who's bashed a lot of my favorite games for petty reasons and whose research, or lack thereof is so bad that he gets called out by Ralph Baer for knowing so little about a device HE invented and tried to claim he was honored (which he wasn't). I guess I'll always have Bores in Doors. One last thing off-topic: I saw Doctor Strange on opening night, and I honestly think it's the best comic book film I've seen since The Dark Knight. I am seriously considering seeing it again for Veteran's day weekend. Far as I'm concerned, everything else is running for second; as Marvel is now officially unstoppable this year. Well, see you all some other time.

    1. Yes, he also killed the president of LJN for bad BTTF games; blown up an alien mothership for bad ET games, sent a redshirt to die on a planet with no oxygen, killed the Kool-aid Man on Christmas; treated the X-men like lackeys and let them die at the feet of the Giant HAL-Bot; and put the Duck Hunt dog's head on a pike in Mortal Kombat in no particular order, whereas his so-called "evil twin" just stole his Odyssey and not a whole lot else. Thank you for your input Spyro, and I will definitely be picking up Sun and Moon on launch day after communications class (been enjoying the demo so far; just have one more event to see someone off on a cruise). Also, glad James more or less acts like Chris doesn't exist; given how he's preoccupied with getting ready to review a hot mess of a Ninja Turtles movie with Doug and André (probably going to rent it someplace to get ready, just watching Cinema Sins' take on Out of the Shadows seems to give the implication that I'll probably be watching a take on the series akin to a 112-minute fever dream doused in radioactive mutagen).

  15. Yeah Chris has a lot of problems regarding his work ethic that's been mentioned already. Lack of willingness to take criticism, make corrections, learning about something he reviews and iffy morality.

But at times it feels like for all of the ego he has, he never has tried to do videos on something with a personal importance to him.

He covers subjects that are popular and are likely to get him some attention, but providing he has an interest beyond merely success and profit, he's never tried to utilize it over subjects he claims to be a fan of.

It's why James and even others who've emulated him have had better reception. Whether they did the angry review bit, did the opposite or just went with a more analytical approach, said reviewers actually have a fondness for gaming and even it's history.

And while a genuine interest in the subject doesn't always guarantee quality, it's usually going to be enjoyed more than something made by a person who claims to be a huge fan of gaming for 20 years but can't even feign interest in it.

So ironically, Chris might even be his own worst enemy.

    1. I think Chris is passionate about ghost hunting. The guy does ghost hunt tours and tried several times to push video content and even a book about the subject. Though he's never found the same success with it as his other projects.

The content Chris produces shares the same problems across the board. He's arrogant about the subject matter and typically follows an established format. It makes it hard for him to really master the subject and stand out from the people already doing this stuff in their respective fields.

      Delete
    2. Oh I agree that egotism is part of the equation. Still I'm not sure if the measures taken for the ghost hunting is a sign that he's really into it.

I mean he did pull out a lot of stuff to look like a gamer for example like:

      1. Filling his room with various gaming memorabilia with moments like his battery hunt in the ROB episode to show it off more.

      2. Constant references to random games in his review that lack a relation to subject of the video (the Duck Hunt gag in Jaws, or the Donkey Kong bit in his TMNT video).

      ---

On the subject of FF XV, I actually haven't seen that much of it really. The trailer looks amazing, but it's all cinematics, I think trailers do too much of that as it is. I've heard it's going to an action combat system, but I honestly prefer the turn-based of the older games. Of course, I haven't played a FF game since IX (yeah, long time ago), so I'm not really their target audience anyway.

One thing I recently saw that really inspired me was "Lost Soul Aside". After seeing the FF XV trailer, one guy spent two years making a fan game inspired by it. It beats the shit out of the "Irate Gamer Game", which allegedly had 50% more development time and at least twice the manpower.

    2. Clarification on that last post: I'm not claiming that TIGG should've been anywhere near the same quality as LSA... I wouldn't hold anyone to such amazing standards.

Still, on a grading scale from 0 to 10, putting the average indie game at 5 and the average AAA title at 7, I'd give TIGG a 1 and LSA an 10.

    3. (Please allow me to preface by saying that I am not a Final Fantasy fan and have never played a single game in the critical franchise; I am merely giving my two cents on this topic.)
Considering how Final Fantasy is Square Enix's bread and butter, it honestly doesn't surprise me that they're milking the prospect of Final Fantasy XV. While it does seem like a marketing ploy to build up hype, I think the best course of action would be to wait until the game releases before coming to a final decision.
At the same time, I can see why you are a bit weary about whether or not it will succeed, Sovereign64. I think it's safe to say that we have been deceived by hyped-up marketing this gaming generation, where games come out half baked and/or don't live up to people's expectations. Aside from Destiny, two other examples that come to mind are The Order: 1886 (some people were judging its quality before it even released, despite some people, like ReviewTechUSA, enjoying the game regardless) and---more recently---No Man's Sky (an overhyped, full-price title from a small independent developer with little to no prior credibility that disappointed everyone and eventually caused Sony to throw Hello Games under the bus due to its negative reception).
It's reasons like these that make me hesitant to buy games on Day 1, even if they may turn out good in the long run (I heard Destiny is finally turning out to be the game it was advertised as two years ago).

      Delete
    4. I have lost all hope for Final Fantasy since the XIII fiasco. Don't have much hope for the FF VII remake either.
I'll wait for the reviews and WoM on this one before deciding if I buy it or not.

    6. @ Shaolin Dave

I tried the demo and the gameplay is reminiscent to Kingdom Hearts. But yeah, I prefer the old turn-based games too because as much as I like Kingdom Hearts, the hack-n-slash type gameplay doesn't remind me of Final Fantasy.

Also, wow. That "Lost Soul Aside" trailer is fantastic. I was blown away. I hope the person who is working on it succeeds because he truly is talented.

      @ Shadow19

Not to mention a lot of companies these days (Especially Ubisoft) are offering people collector's editions of these games (Which includes artwork books, helmets, statues, memorabilia, etc.) when they preorder. If it's a sequel, I can understand. But most of them are games that haven't left an impact on the gaming community yet. Don't you find it sad when you are willing to spend $100 on a collector's edition, only to discover the game didn't live up to your expectations upon release?

Destiny greatly improved with The Taken King but then the follow-up Rise of Iron screws things up again. At least people are agreeing that the game is now at the state it was advertised two years ago. But even still, the damage is done.

      @ Andoc

Unless the FFVII remake will stick to its original turn-based gameplay, then I'm fully invested in it.

I have a good portion of the games via the virtual console already across Nintendo's platforms...but I still sought after one and luckily was able to get one. it's a nice little package and fun for nostalgic purposes. 27. One of the effects of Bores' deleting of videos is making the season's episodes look crazy. I've been watching his season 3 playlist and episodes 7-9 are missing. Same thing with his NEO show, the there are only 13 remaining, and the numbers go from 1 to 23. I wonder if he is going to bother editing the titles (again, remember retroactively adding HVOG to the IG episodes and altering Duck Hunt to be the last episode of season 5{and the series finale too apparently?}).
On another note, I was watching his Monster Party video and think it is a strong for contender for Best IG episode. Filled with stupid random illogical jokes and plot devices and simple storyline, and he ends up with ronnie satan and his evil twin at the bar. Not too many (maybe no) factual errors or blatant plaguarism. Its too bad he didn't end the whole Satan/Evil IG vs IG thing there, instead of subjecting us to that whole "story arc" "my movie" shit.

    2. I disagree. Chris makes video- he at least knows when a show is being made and when it isn't. I for one trust that they shot deals at the shop in hopes of a new season that unfortunately didn't materialize. He even said (somewhere) that he tried to sell his Ovilus ghost-hunting gizmo... having watched a lot of HP, that has the ring of truth to me; the show was always looking for unusual people and items to put on camera.

Chris is dishonest and unfunny, but I for one do not count him as delusional.

      Delete
    3. I'm almost certain when they filmed footage for HP, less than 1% of what's filmed actually airs, and I'm sure what footage of Chris was actually filmed wasn't nearly as exciting as some trashy guy from the Detroit Ghetto (which is the entire city) throwing a fit, starting a fight and getting thrown out by the big security guy.

      Delete
    4. Less than one percent?! This was a trashy basic-cable reality show with a finite budget, not a history documentary. They kept the costs down by obviously staging segments (Wow, what a coincidence: another unhinged wacko came into the store, and once again they had the cameras rolling BEFORE it turned crazy!), and, I'm sure, by feeding the family behind-the-scenes plot lines to argue about. In the 21st-century media landscape, you just can't afford to either run a camera crew all day or to let the small, organic moments of real life be the show.

    1. I admit that I had high hopes for him when he originally started on TGWTG. He did show some things that I liked. he had an angle that was reminiscent of Linkara and actually seemed relatively entertaining... to a degree. After a while, I began to notice some things that made convinced; He's no different than Chris Bores.

His story lines are pretty much the same story retold over and over again, he latches onto one version of a character and insists that it’s the “definitive version” and calls nearly every other version inferior. He states in his Beastly review that Disney's version of Beauty and the Beast was "perfect" and no one should ever make it again because of that. Contrast that to Oancitizen and Some Jerk With a Camera's review where they say, anything can and should be remade as stories gain power through retelling and stories are owned by no one.

He has a bad habit to categorize all movies depicting vampires in a more sympathetic light as Twilight-like movies that "pussified" vampire, with the implication he believes vampires should be Always Chaotic Evil in every media they appear in (Angel being apparently the sole exception to the rule). Being incredibly pessimistic on the upcoming DC Extended Universe when the movies haven't even come out yet, which is especially evident on how his Deadpool vs Suicide Squad video contained around 7 minutes of bashing the comic-con trailer for the latter, with the remaining time spent praising the former's comic con trailer, and has developed a bad habit to repeatedly bash Man of Steel in his Honest Reviews about Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As much as he tries playing himself off as a superhero, he acts a lot more like a bully to movies. The reviews for The Little Vampire and Robots come to mind, but honestly just watch the Robots one to see his running gag just for celebrity cameo-voices.
Even more hilarious when you realize that the supposed "Evil" version of him actually did less than he implies he does. What exactly did he do when he's first introduced? He admits he likes Spider-Man 3 most of all out of the Spider-Man series. Apparently just doing that is punishable by being trapped in the Phantom Zone. The rest of his actions could easily be described as a revenge trip (Sounds familiar?). These factors made me stop watching his show and stopped subscribing him. What you said about him being the Irate Gamer of movie reviews is sadly true.

    2. ERod is a joke. His lack of flexibility is what really hurts him.

I'm still annoyed at the time he had a list of "Voice Actors mostly known for one role" and put Steve Blum on the list because of Wolverine. Completely ignoring all the anime, western animation and video games he's worked on.

As well his tribute to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles where he would talk about the bad aspects of the franchise with a Bane action figure because he can't get over his dislike of The Dark Knight Rises. Even though Bane has NOTHING to do with TMNT.

      Delete
    3. Seen his Pateron ? Its so lazy. He stopped answering comment as well.

      Delete
    4. @BatDanKnight Him fully supporting the voice acting industry is one of the reasons why I used to followed him. But what really annoyed me is, aside from what you said, is that he always seems to think video games and anime voice actors don't deserve the same kind of respect as the voice actors who did western animated works. He only talk about those type of VA's after they branch out from the medium they worked on to western shows.

      Delete
    5. Same really. Most of my friends are voice actors. Some of work in non-union and it is hard for them. Non-Union covers anime and video games.

    7. @Joseph Chadwick Not to mention he also calls motion capture animation as "capture motion (?) animation". And he might be the only one who calls it like that. Plus, just like IG, his massive list of Critical Research Failures.

      Delete
    8. @Joseph Chadwick Here are a few examples of his CRF's:

In his review of Shrek 2, he criticizes the film for, among other things, betraying the tone of the original film by having songs in it, noting that the only song in the first film (sung by Robin Hood and his gang) was a parody, and interrupted mid-way through by Fiona. Except that not counting pop song covers (which were also in the first film), there is only one actual musical-style song in Shrek 2 (sung by the Fairy Godmother), and it's just as clearly a parody as the equivalent song in Shrek, being a pretty obvious riff on "Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo" from Cinderella. And, in fact, the song is also protested against and ultimately interrupted by Fiona. In the same video, he also refers to the Fairy Godmother and Prince Charming as "pretty much the closest thing" the film has to a villain, implying that they're not wholly villainous antagonists... which is odd given that they attempt to brainwash, frame and murder the main characters and attempt to commit a coup, identity theft and implicitly rape by deception by getting Charming fraudulently married to Fiona and making him the heir to Far Far Away. Not a lot of viewers paying attention would doubt that they are full villains.

In his Tim Burton Planet of the Apes review, he claims that the concept of a super-intelligent ape forming an army to conquer the Earth from Rise of the Planet of the Apes was a rip-off of The Powerpuff Girls Movie. Except that they have little to nothing in common with each other. Caesar was born from a virus-infested monkey while Mojo Jojo was a mischievous monkey who accidentally had a dose of Chemical X after pushing the professor. Also, Caesar was treated horribly at a primate shelter which resulted in him forming an army of apes to rebel and get out of the city. Mojo, on the other hand, created an army of super-intelligent apes just so he could take over Townsville. On the other hand, it's likely just a joke about how the two products came out close together.

Sometimes when he says a movie bombed at the box office, a quick Google search would inform him that the movie actually made back its budget or made a profit. It seems he's confused "box office" and "critical reception"

He often confuses comic book canon with animated canon. For example, in his review of X-Men: Days of Future Past, he made mention that in the film, Wolverine is sent back in time instead of Bishop as in the original comic. That happened in the 90's X-Men animated series. In the comic book, Kitty Pryde was sent back. Bishop wouldn't even be created for another 10 years.

    1. most recent Ghost video on Irat...I mean "CB Network". I can't really bring myself to watch the ghost stuff, so i put this on mute on perused the comments. Just noticed it was put up on Halloween. It has more views than anything since his DuckHunt video 6 months ago. Comments are disabled apparently. Someone comments negatively about the channel name change, and just like before, someone with a wrestling related screen name comes to Bores defense. He made it his home video page, so the first thing you hear on it Is My name is Chris Bores (apparently its pronounced Bore-ez? 2 syllables?)the leading ghost blah blah durrr.
    2. deletion of videos
One affect of his deleting of videos is that going through his videos makes his channel appear more coherent and aesthetically pleasing. It also more clearly shows the slow decline of his channel if you scroll through the videos from oldest to new. I also noticed he has changed at least one video's title. An E3 video about the game Naughty Bear has been rechristened "E3 - Naughty Bear Game - Pre- Five Nights at Freddy's FNAF". I'm not sure when he changed it but i assume it was recent. Not sure what the connection is between the two games other than having crazy bears. Pretty clever I guess using Bores logic, retitle old stuff to get new views.

  49. Don't know if anybody's brought it up, but apparently Uwe Boll is no longer making films. At least according to Wikipedia.

    1. Well, you also have Mr. Boll's butthurt video to go by:

  50. The new Puppet Steve video shows a robot toy of Marshall (the dalmatian from Paw Patrol). He pointed out that you have to put the batteries in his butt, which I found amusing.

    1. Honestly, if it's true, I'm glad it's ending. I liked the games, but I'm honestly not sure what they were planning on adding after the character creator opened near infinite possibilities for characters, and everyone (including myself) has moved on to LEGO Dimensions. The toys to life gimmick is wearing off among gamers, with LEGO Dimensions being the exception due to its ties with many popular movie/TV/video game franchises (loads of Sonic fans bought the game just to play as him, for example).

  52. off-topic: I'd like to ask opinions, especially from anyone here who plays indie games.

What would you find more appealing for graphics in a 2d or 2.5d platformer, 2d rigged characters or low-poly stylized 3d?

    1. I personally prefer 2d rigged characters. They just have that charm that the 3D low-poly characters don't really have (most of the time; I know there are quite a few memorable ones). Maybe because the 2d characters can be more detailed.

  53. I think he may have deleted lots of those videos to make his channel look better, especially for any puppet steve fans that discover it.
