Bores Continues to Use "CB Network" Just to Shill

Bores actually posted two videos yesterday. Unfortunately it's all paid promotion with no actual content.
First video is some hard drive, and the title he wrote for it is like a 10 in "shameless clickbait".
Western Digital NEXT GENERATION of HARDDRIVES!
Yeaaaah I don't buy it. Chris seems to understand his remaining fans hate these videos as comments are disabled.
Second video is another Box Wars. Yawn.
What's weird about these videos (and the previous Box Wars) is that he's filming them at a different angle. Instead of sitting in front of his posters, he's sitting in front of his game shelves. Did he remove the posters on the wall? Too bad Chris is incapable of communication like a normal YouTube user.
The comments on the Box Wars are open, but seems Chris is modding them hard. I noticed one user with an AkaNinger avatar (Shuriken Sentai Ninninger) who was yelling at everyone that "CHRIS IS RETIRED, STOP BEING MEAN!" because people kept asking for real content. However, all those comments are gone now. Is Chris trying to hide from his YouTube fans that he's retired? Pick a position and stick with it!

I have to wonder if "CB Network" is going to only be active in October. Despite his claims to the contrary, Chris really doesn't seem dedicated to ghost hunting, and only seems to talk about around Halloween. What is he doing the rest of the year? Well, besides buying plastic crap and making the same video again and again and again and again and again and again and this is why I barely talk about Puppet Steve.

Speaking of, over there we find more fucking FNAF. Another Minecraft video. A look at Harley Quinn statue that's from Arkham City, but because Chris is desperate for clicks like a Buzzfeed whore, he puts Suicide Squad in the title. It's just sad at this point.
All the Lego Dimensions Adventure Time figures, because fuck the rest of Wave 6 & 7.
And... I am not kidding, Emoji toys. Not the characters from that upcoming animated movie produced by Sony, but actual figures based on the Emojis you find in your phones. This reeks of "How do you do fellow kids?"
"Easter Egg" is in the title, which apparently he calls it that because he has an "Easter Egg" box. ... No that doesn't make sense! Ugh... Chris really is a moron...

But that's not the most recent video. The newest is more fucking FNAF.
It's not even new toys, it's about toys that aren't even out yet. Holy shit! It's like Chris is thinking "FNAF is the only thing that gives me views, I need to milk it more and more, I don't care how vapid and stupid it is!"
In the video he says "We're one of the top YouTube channels that talks about the McFarlane Five Nights at Freddy's toys!" Chris still loves his overly narrow superlatives. Just like how he tried to show his book was a success with narrow Amazon categories. Can someone actually check on Chris? I don't think he's mentally doing well.

That's about it from me. Should probably work on the year end list, if I even have anything to write about.

  1. Yeah. He obviously renamed his channel as an excuse to make shilling videos.

  2. A few thoughts regarding the last two videos:

Does anybody really believe he used that SSD drive as an external for his laptop? It's not impossible but Chris has proven he is not very technically savvy so I doubt he actually put that thing in a case or used a SATA converter. It also looks a bit too new to have been used for an external drive.

He can't even look up the names of the characters on the shirts? I haven't even seen Nightmare Before Christmas and I know Jack Skellington, let alone Clyde from Pac-Man. I mean, he uses a sound effect from Pac-Man in the Box Wars videos!

He sure rushed through that box of Russian snacks, didn't he? Not even long enough to see what they are.

Bam Box - A "demonic puzzle box from Hellraiser", otherwise known as the Lament Configuration.

He doesn't understand the S-Mart name tag. He makes a really weird sound, I think he meant to say "Ash" but choked up.

He knows Linda Blair from the Exorcist but refers to Jason Voorhees and Freddy Krueger as "cool horror icons"?

Part of me thinks the "hangy thing" in the Japan box is a Christmas ornament but I am not entirely certain how Christmas is celebrated in Japan so I won't bash Chris for that.

Arcade Block starts off with what he says is a Batman figure. It's Robin. Not only does it look like Robin, it says "Robin" on the fucking box. Robin is NOT Batman except for a brief period when Grayson wore a Batman outfit.

He knows a surprising amount of details for South Park. It seems to be the one box he has any interest in.

Chris is bored by the Simply Earth box and doesn't know what to say about it but he has to earn that paycheck. He says it has "a whole amalgamation of different items". He also says it has essential oils including citric burst twice.

Geek box - he somehow misses the skeleton hand is doing the Vulcan "Live Long and Prosper" sign.

He neglects to mention he is using his affiliate tags in the description.

He has definitely removed a bunch of posters and it is easy to see why. He is doing more content for Minecraft Puppet Steve and he doesn't want to go through the effort of putting up posters and removing them again as he makes content for one channel or the other.

  3. At this point, he definitely knows that angry reviewing is coming to a standstill (as I've said before), as in people like AVGN are still doing it, but at a much lesser frequency.

He probably retired the Irate Gamer series and now renamed it so that he can upload more random stuff without his fans asking for "more IG plz".

    1. Furthermore, "toy review" channels for children are HUGE on YouTube these days- the more popular ones tend to millions of subscribers and views and make millions in ad revenue. Ditto with Minecraft themed YouTube channels. So naturally, Bores wanted to cash in on both while attempting to create a more family friendly (and therefore profitable) image. Thus, Puppet Steve was born.

      Delete
    2. The closest thing Bores ever did to playing Minecraft was the godawful "Enderman Rant", which was one of the first Puppet Steve episodes. He used small snippets of gameplay throughout the video, though even for that he was clearly using mods.

      Delete
    3. If there's one thing that never runs out, are Minecraft channels. There are quite a number of decent channels (and parody songs like Screw the Nether), but most are in the territory of "75 % of video is EDM intro", or "kid screaming into microphone for the entire length".

      Delete
  4. I get it now! I get why Crisbo does nothing but these types of videos: It's because they take absolutely no effort to make and he has a severe allergy to effort!

  5. So I played the original Megaman game recently. Other than the yellow devil in the first Wily stage, it's overall a really easy game (at least to me). It baffles me why Chris had to use cheats when he reviewed it.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I don't know how to make videos but I'd so do a parody reviewing Megaman X.

"Up next is Spark Mandrill's stage, and as you can see he's sporting a pretty cool moustache. I wonder if he's related to the Third Rate Gamer."

      Delete
    2. Also I know he had to have stolen footage. He never got the magnet beam in the game, probably because he didn't know it even existed, and there's a part in Wily Stage 1 where you absolutely have to use the magnet beam to progress. That's probably also why he never showed the yellow devil in his review.

      Delete
    3. The Yellow Devil is only hard because you only get a few shots at it before you have to play dodgeball over and over trying to kill it. It's a case of difficulty by not having learned the pattern yet. It take work and practice to get past it without using the lightning gun pause exploit.

      Delete
    4. It's hard because you can't slide and you have no E-Tanks in the game, so you can only fuck up a few times. It also really messes with your head, causing you to unintentionally jump into one of the flying projectiles. Oh, and don't get hit once the the Yellow Devil shoots pellets; they pack quite a punch.

      Delete
    5. Yeah, I don't see why people complain that the Yellow Devil "has no pattern" when it's clear that they're too lazy to learn said "nonexistant" pattern! I actually find the Yellow Devil the easiest of the Wily bosses (this coming from a guy who doesn't use that stupid trick, by the way)!
      ^-^

      Delete
    6. It's tricky, but by no means impossible. I'm kind of old-fashioned; but since I'm on the Yellow Devil in the Virtual Console version for my 3DS, I know I just have to keep hitting the eye until he's down. More of an endurance test for me more than anything. In fact, the only problem I had was forgetting to get the magnet beam; so I had to kill my character to go back and get it. Inconvenient, but doable.

      Delete
  6. It would appear that Bores really just wants to shill for the dough. How much does he get paid to showcase just one product? Must be pretty sweet if that's all he's doing. Sweet for him, anyway. Bad for about everyone else. I personally count down the days until his subs hit rock bottom, no one wants to have him showcase their crap, and he goes into one last tirade against the "haters" for ruining him.

When that day comes, I will do as I do, gentlemen: I will kick back, have a nice shot of a fine vodka, and enjoy the show. The last episode will truly be Chrisbo's best, wouldn't you say?

    1. Yeah, I can see it being similar to Uwe Boll's meltdown over his failed crowdfunding effort; which finally seems to have done him in (as well as having a backhanded insult to Joss Whedon and his Avengers films. For the record, I highly doubt Whedon knows who Boll is; and since those films made over $1 billion worldwide apiece, Joss definitely has enough financial clout to do whatever he likes for the rest of his career.).

  7. It's been quite the year for Boring Man; and I'm not surprised that he's still doing lousy shilling videos in lieu of any real content. It's the main reason why I'm going to be including them all collectively in one entry on my personal worst moments (if I wanted advice on a new hard drive, I sure as Hell wouldn't be consulting a man who doesn't understand how the processing power of the NES works, as he's consistently proven over the years). Still, with only a little bit left in this year; I don't think anything's going to top his overall not giving a shit for me.

At least she knows how to play the game well (even if it was on the easy setting that didn't exist in the original Japanese version) and didn't state anything factually wrong or complain about anything stupid (except the part about the menu screen). I watched some of her other videos and felt the same level of boredom. Again, not bad enough to riff; just boring. I'm sure most people who watch her videos though don't pay attention to the actual review of the game and are focused on something else...

  9. Totally random, but am I the only person who thinks Naches Libre is extremely overrated? People I know always talk like it's comedy gold and it's one of the most quotable movies ever. I just don't find it that funny. 95 percent of the quotable lines wouldn't have the same effect without Jack Black's stupid fake accent (example: "Get that corn out of my face!"). As Mr. Enter would say, accents are not jokes!

If anybody likes the movie, then fine. This is just my opinion. I find Nacho Libre about as funny as an Adam Sandler movie.

  19. Puppet Steve, looking for more of that sweet FNAF ad revenue, made a video comparing real FNAF plushies to bootlegs. The bootleggers got money anyway goes he bought the bootlegs to use in the video. BTW, if you want a good look at bootleg toys to avoid, I would recommend leokimvideo's "Dark Side" series (where he compares bootleg toys of famous childrens franchises that he buys at dollar stores to real ones, and destroys the bootlegs in various cool ways) and of course good old Ashens!

It was cool to see Darth Vader in the movie although he isn't in it much and I liked how they were able to CG in Peter Cushing as Grand Moff Tarkin.

    3. As far as being a Gaiden Series goes, I think it's alright. I enjoy the film but the reason why I think it's not really as good as Force Awakens is the characters. Outside of Jyn Erso the rest of the characters just feels one dimensional and lack any sort of depth, making really hard to root for them through the action sequences in this movie. When Darth Vader being in this movie was cool... but he should've been this movie's Big Bad, 'cause the ACTUAL Big Bad of this movies just isn't very good.

    4. I just got back, and actually really enjoyed it.
I can understand why people (especially Star Wars fans) would be turned off, but I liked it's focus on the war and espionage, while the mystical fantasy themes from the main series took a back seat.

    1. @SpyroFan93 I think his worst year for me is still 2015. Everything he made was even worse as it was just downright abysmal content. And at least he hasn't disrespected the dead this year, unlike last year when he tried to leech money and people off Leonard Nimoy's corpse, or when he said Jewwario was in hell for killing himself in 2014. But it's pretty sad to see Boring Man basically be reduced to a ghostly shell with barely any popularity at all. Then again, he was doomed from the start.

He can't delete the IG channel. Puppet Steve doesn't have enough of a subscriber base for his shill videos so he needs what's left of the IG fans to dump his tech crap videos.

My pick for his worst moment: his sociopathic act of claiming he has such great fans and then treating like them dirt. SpyroFan93: "IG's dead and Bores the one who killed it. He couldn't grow and evolve like other YouTubers could. And plus Bores sounds so lifeless like he doesn't want to do it anymore even in his paid shilling."

Plus I think ties back into how he never really enjoyed the subject of his reviews (though I'm second guessing whether he is really into Ghost Hunting or no).

I mean even if say James tends to do other videos besides the AVGN stuff, he seems to still enjoy playing games such as in his James & Mike video, whereas I haven't heard of Bores doing anything gaming related outside of his character.

      Delete
    5. I am a fan of Keith Apicary and it was fun seeing him in an AVGN video. That said, this should not have been an AVGN episode as there was practically zero reviews of the products.

    6. I think all the criticisms stated here are valid, that said I found the episode just good enough. I never heard of the Apicary guy before (at first I thought it was that "for your health" guy from Tim & Eric). So I just thought of the guy as some random fellow nerd, and thought it was pretty funny to watch them spazz out. I thought the weakest point was that all the nerd had to say was "that's crazy" about the mass of cords for that genesis vr thing. The funniest part to me for some reason was the golf segment. Maybe the will do a James & Mike episode with that crazy shit and give a more fair look at the wacky shit in that video.

  33. Puppet Steve has introduced a new style of video called "Wrestling Style", though it's more like boxing with bad special effects. He introduced it by reviewing a couple of "Big Robots" toys, which seem to be like Rock 'Em Sock 'Em Robots but they are actually robots. Once again, Bores is making puppets that are in his bedroom use remote controllers to operate toys that are clearly in the kitchen.

  34. So Capcom announced that they're releasing Megaman 1-6 on mobile. First of all, did Capcom forget they have 10 Megaman games in the classic series and not just 6? Maybe they're trying to forget they made 7-10, I don't know. Second, I don't know if Megaman is the best game to play on a phone being a jumping platformer game and all. There are parts where it's difficult enough just using a regular controller. Third, why not create a new Megaman game? A good Megaman game?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Not a fan of the mobile Mega Man games, I don't like using touch screen controls for games that weren't originally designed around them. That's why Nintendo didn't straight up port Super Mario Bros. to mobile like many "gaming journalists" demanded they should.

      Delete
    2. It could work.
If they use an MFi controller it'd be great. But last time I checked, Apple didn't allow apps for iOS that required an external gamepad.
Touch-screen controls are usually pretty wonky, "The Irate Gamer Game" being a perfect example. Usually touch controls work better on platformers like "Super Mario Run" or "Banana Kong", simple controls with single-finger gestures.
I have played a couple platformers on iPhone that weren't horrible. Earthworm Jim was playable, until a game-breaking glitch on the last boss (making it impossible to beat), but that had nothing to do with touch controls.
I played a game a while back called "Unity Chan's Action Shooting", which is very similar to MegaMan (hell, they could've swapped the characters out and rebranded it as a MegaMan game). It's one of the best mobile game's I've played.

      Delete
    3. Interestingly enough, I have played an iOS game that required a Bluetooth Controller - the iOS port of Skylanders Trap Team. It's actually pretty close to the console versions, but it uses a Bluetooth portal and controller that are only compatible with it.

      Delete
    4. Hmmm, I just double-checked it. While Apple did update the requirements for Apple TV so you can require a gamepad, they still say that iOS can only have gamepads optional. You have to provide touchscreen controls by default.
One thing I just found out, it's the same policy for Mac apps. You can have optional gamepad support, but they require keyboard and/or mouse support. I guess that makes some sense, I wouldn't be surprised if the Windows Store had the same policy.
Maybe there's a special deal that hardware manufactures work out for specific apps, this policy probably only applies to generic games connecting to generic controllers.

    1. Merry Christmas to you too. Man, thank god this year is almost over. In spite of everything that's happened this year, all those we have lost, every disaster that's happened, and what went down at the election and everything else in politics (sorry fellow bloggers), We must move on. We will stand together in harmony, even if terrible things happen. It's life, but we've got to move on. This year was a trainwreck, But we don't let it bring us down. We must stand tall and traverse through the most difficult parts in our journey. We will suffer, but we get back up, brush it off and continue in life. My message, fellow bloggers, is even though this this year sucked, you can't focus on the worst parts of a year, even in the most dire of situations, look on the the bright side and continue on in life, no matter what happens. Merry Christmas to BatDan and everyone else on this blog and have a happy new year, and hopefully 2017 will be a better year for everybody, even if we all die in the end, knowing that you can't avoid it.

    2. Let's face it: Irate Gamer is dead (here's hoping BugginBores doesn't pop up). Unless he gets desperate, it's pretty much time to end this blog. it's been a good 7 years (3, in my case), but i guess it's time. Who wants to bet the year-end list will be ether a top 7 or 6. My worst moment for The Bores this year is the long periods of nothing, just like 2013, and my worst moment for Chris overall is from last year, when he tried to leech money and followers off of Leonard Nimoy's corpse (you get the picture).

With that said, I don't want to sound too pessimistic, but I really hope that 2017 will be a good year. Without going too much into politics or any controversies... this entire year feels like, in BatDan's words from 2014, "Sorry, but [2016] was a really dumb year. It feels like this is the year where everyone started taking crazy pills, or maybe it was me. It all feels wrong…"

  44. Haven't had a lot of times to play video games lately. I've been putting most of my attention on a novel that I've been working on since early last year. Getting really close to finishing the second draft. To anyone that's written a book before, what's the most amount of drafts that you've written for one book before. On average, how long does it normally take you to completely finish writing a book? Just curious, I'm just wondering if wanting to be done by sometime next year is a reasonable goal.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Well, if you are Chris Bores you can just publish the rough draft...

In all seriousness, there are no hard and fast rules for the number of drafts. If you have a publisher then the book is done when they accept it. If you are self publishing, it is a tougher call. Keep handing out your drafts and when the constructive criticism winds down and you feel you have revised the draft as well as you possibly can, go ahead and publish.

Some writers do one revision and then revisit the work a few weeks later for a fresh perspective.

If you really want an answer and point a gun at my head I'd say about three revisions.

      >.<#

      Delete
    5. Yes, that was a real quote from the video. This isn't a problem with using the correct abbreviations, it's simply a problem with wording everything. For example, he refers to the normal zombie as the "Businessman Zombie". I have no clue where he got that term from, but it's clear he's never played any of the Plants Vs. Zombies games.

      Delete
    6. I personally think "Labber-nith" is his worst mispronunciation so far. It's clear he's never seen that movie since they say the name several times. Even after people corrected him, he mispronounces that way AGAIN later on and tries to defend it saying: "WAAAHH!! I have an accent!" It's obvious Chris refuses to admit to any mistakes. Chris Bores is never wrong, Chris Bores never screws up, anybody that finds mistakes is just "putting his videos under a microscope." His stupid ghost book is just a masterpiece. Anybody that points out it's numerous flaws are just low-life haters. Chris Bores is an amazing writer. His book should be a bestseller. Who cares if it's clearly a piece of crap? It's a masterpiece! You never talk badly about Chris Bores. Chris Bores is a genius!

Sorry if I sounded like I was going crazy. I'm just so sick of Bores' ego. Honestly, him begging for positive reviews for his book just says a lot about who he is. As for the "Plants and Zombies" thing, I think it's pretty clear by this point that Chris doesn't care about video games. Why should anybody be surprised about knowing nothing about it?

Seriously though, the thing that you have to keep in mind is that just because they're celebrities doesn't mean they're any different from normal everyday people, and many normal everyday people die every year. It's just a coincidence that so many celebrities died this past year, and most if not all died of natural causes; I don't recall any of them being murdered or killed in a car or plane crash. Next year the same number of celebrities may die, maybe more maybe less. The point is people die, and we should rightfully morn for them, but I don't think there's some conspiracy or significance behind them all dying this past year.
