IG's Top 8 Worst Moments of 2016

Wooof. 2016 was not a good year, and if you pay attention to the news then you should be familiar with why this year was a mess. Everyone, try to be brave, stay safe, live on and hope things will get better.

As per usual, it’s time to end the year with Chris’ worst moments. However, so little happened this year, a lot of samey stuff that wasn’t interesting. I could only think of 8 moments. Will 2017 have even less?
Possibly since most of his content has just outright died.

8: Why bother with the game? Look at the cool Lego!

IG Neo was the first of the shows to just die. There was literally only one episode of it this year. Lego Dimensions.
The majority of the review was Chris listing off the figures, and saying stupid shit like “The Portal 2 level made no sense and the music was stupid”. He never brought up the gameplay, never mentioning how it differs from the standard Lego games or how it actually uses the portal as part of the game.
It also became clear that Chris didn’t even bother to beat the game. Chris posted the review four months after the game came out and only beat four levels. Going by his PSN account, he still hasn’t bothered to play the rest. It’s not a hard game at all.
Much like Skylanders, Chris cares more for the collection aspect than the gameplay. Hell, he hasn’t even played Skylanders: Imaginators. Or he has but played it on Wii U where there’s no tracking so I don’t know for sure.

Shockingly, people liked it, claiming it was in-depth. Being long doesn’t mean it’s in-depth, he didn’t say anything.

7: Deleting everything won’t save you

For reasons only known to him, Chris deleted a large number of his videos. Not just the sell-out shill videos, but actual content. The majority of his Neo reviews are gone, a ton of his E3 videos, most of the movie reviews. What the hell Chris? Why delete so much? What are you trying to hide?
What’s weird is that there’s still some videos up but the title and  thumbnail changed to be about Pursuit of the Paranormal or Ghost Hunting 2.0. I just noticed this. For example, organize the video list by oldest, one thing you’ll notice is that the Sopranos video he made is gone (why?), but then keep scrolling and you’ll see a 3:46 Pursuit video that was posted 8 years ago. Wait what? Clicking it, and it’s part 1 of his Top 10 Summer Movies of 2008. There’s a lot more too of these too. Guitar Hero Van Halen, his 48 second review of the first Iron Man, some E3 videos, what is the purpose of changing these? Do you think all five of your ghost fans will look through your channel and fall for this click bait? That’s really desperate and stupid.

What is your endgame Chris? You make no sense.

To give you an idea of how bad the deletion is, only 12 videos from this year remain, and I see at least three getting deleted. The Lego Dimensions review mentioned above? Gone! What are your reasons?

6: All I can do is sell out!

Last year, Chris had been making videos where he showcased a product often unrelated to video games. It became clear these were nothing more than paid promotions. Now, a smart YouTube user would put these promotions as part of another video, usually the end. That way the viewer can click off if they don’t care for what they’re hocking.
Chris on the other hand makes single videos, or a long video where he compiles a bunch of shit together. This year he went to 11 and it hurt him hard. Making several tech showcases and looking at disgusting bloatware apps that promise gift cards if you download a bunch of crap and ruin your phone. Fans hated all the selling out, dislike bombing the videos. Chris did not care, he was getting paid, fuck the fans. Hmm, that seems like it’s going to be a theme.

5: BOXES HOLY FUCK!

Chris killed off most of his series, but started a new one and keeps it going because it’s lazy and he gets free stuff.
Box Wars, a show where he unboxes various swag services like Loot Crate. That’s it.
Early on he tried to “spice it up” with editing and wackiness, but eventually he didn’t even bother and now it’s just him showing the contents of 10 different boxes per video. It’s boring! But what do you expect from Chris Bores?
Like the above tech shilling, this is all paid promotion. Only where other channels will sign up for one or two services, Chris check marked ALL OF THEM. Oh and in case you didn’t realize, many of the items are COOL. Seriously, he says “cool” so much that it’s almost a verbal tic. As shown here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHUb-scBzNc

I don’t get how anyone can find this series entertaining? Because you want to know what’s in the boxes? Most of them are rip-offs, you get crap. Invest your money in something else people.

4: This salty Facebook post

This kind of relates to the tech shilling and boxes.
Earlier this month, Chris posted this on his Facebook.

Woof, it’s almost like he channeled the spirit of DSP or Andrew Dobson. Critical salt levels!
I haven’t posted this yet as I wanted to include in a post about how Chris is making his money. Unfortunately the lead I had on it ran cold. But if what I‘m told is true, Chris won‘t do Patreon or services everyone else does and would rather sell video space to product creators so he can make tech “reviews” and Box Wars. Because that somehow makes more sense?
Chris, it’s clear you haven’t made real money on YouTube in years (at least not through IG). It’s also clear that people stopped watching you. You lost focus and instead of trying to make the channel grow or change, you gave up. Don’t cry about it, you’ll come off like DSP, who never shuts up about the views he gets (or doesn’t get).
And yeah, Chris’ views are abysmal. His latest (another shitty tech showcase) only has 13k views in two weeks. Wooooow. How the mighty have fallen indeed. Looks like Guru Larry was right to put you in his “forgotten YouTube gamers” list. You shouldn’t have pushed people away.

3: The final episode and you end with a tired NES joke

Only two regular Irate Gamer episodes were posted this year, the second one might be the finale. We’ll see.

I can’t imagine he planned to end the show here because it was awful.
The game he looked at was Duck Hunt. Now how do you make a 6 minute video on such a simple game? You shoot ducks, you shoot clay pigeons, and the dog laughs if you miss. That’s the whole game! But somehow Chris managed to pad it out. All so he could tell the same tired joke about how much of a dick the dog is. Something people have been making jokes about for YEARS! Hell, he already did that in his Jaws review where he killed the dog for “HUR HUR RANDOM”.
But nooo he has to make it a show. He has to chase the dog through a bunch of games with some of the worst green screen ever. How anyone says this sequence was good I don’t know. But he doesn’t just shoot the dog, no he has to go to the Pit in Mortal Kombat and upper-cut him into it for a Fatality because REFERENCES!

What a wet fart of a possible ending.

2: The complete cutting off of Irate Gamer

I mentioned above that the Duck Hunt episode might be his last one. The evidence piled up hard. The biggest being the channel going from Irate Gamer to CB Network, and the focus away from video games to ghosts and shilling. Basically, no content because ghosts aren’t real and shilling is empty.
He also stated on his site that Season 5 is the last one. Again, we’ll see.
Now why is this one the worst moments list? Surely this is a good thing?
I’m speaking for his fans, how he left them out to dry without giving a clue. Sure, he stated on Facebook that he retired, but when people in the YouTube comments point this out, they get deleted. Why he doesn’t want his YouTube audience to know I can’t say. Perhaps he’s hoping they stick around and not unsubscribe in droves? Toooo late, he’s been bleeding subs for a while.
At one point, he did throw around the idea of a Kickstarter to fund Season 6. I questioned this as his show is uber low budget and he already has the games (or he’ll likely just emulate them). But then he just said “screw it, I don’t care if you want to fund it, fuck the fans”.

Chris ended the Irate Gamer without any fanfare, he just let it quietly die. Leaving his fans to wonder “what are you doing?” Give them something Chris, something of substance, something worth sending your show out on. Perhaps you should have done that with the retarded Power Rangers episodes.

Maybe he hoped nostalgia would kick in? Next year it will be 10 years since he started the Irate Gamer. Thing is, I don’t think that will happen. I’ve heard far too many fan testimonies that they liked him when they were younger, forgot about him, then looked back with a more critical eye and realized “Why did I like this to begin with?” The 12 year olds just stopped coming, and went to other (better) content creators.

But for all I know, he’ll come back and pretend like he never left. Then again… he found something that managed to make him money with the least amount of effort possible.

1: New show, new audience, fuck the old fans

Soooo what has happened to Chris to completely and utterly (try to) stop the Irate Gamer? He found something lazier.
At the beginning of the year, Chris started a new channel for the “Marty and Muffin Show”, a puppet show where he “reviews” toys. Marty and Muffin were very quickly tossed aside when he realized he could exploit one of the most popular games in the world for profit. Enter Minecraft Puppet Steve.
Portraying a puppet based on the default avatar from Minecraft, Chris “reviews” toys. By which he describes the toy, makes stupid jokes, has wacky shit happen, and says it’s cool. Early in the channel’s life, he did the same “throw everything and see what sticks” method he used in 2015 when he did multiple videos a week. Doing things like movie reviews and trailer reactions, neither of which he does now. Chris would eventually find his audience not with Minecraft toys (no that would be obvious) but Five Nights at Freddy’s toys. I have no idea where he’s getting the views, his subscriber and view count is way off. Is it little kids that aren’t allowed to have YouTube accounts yet? I’ve seen at least one comment where they admit they’re five years old.

Despite starting in January, I wouldn’t learn about this channel until August. Chris did a good job keeping it secret for that long. But that raises a question, why did he keep it secret? Why not tell his fanbase of at least 160k subscribers? It’s likely Chris didn’t want those fans, he wanted new fans, dumber fans, five year olds that will watch anything no matter the quality. For a while he deleted any and all comments on his Facebook asking about Puppet Steve. Eventually he subtly caved by adding it to his “Other Channels” section on “CB Network”. But he hasn’t outright said it’s him or told his fans to check it out.

So it’s meant for kids, is it at least good for them? Oh god no. Chris is under the belief that since he’s making something for kids, he doesn’t have to put in any effort. As I said, the reviews are not reviews, they’re unfunny comedy bits that seem more like Chris showing off his collection rather than informing his audience.  Kids have a million options for entertainment, and this is among the worst.
Chris also believes that since it’s for kids, he can write like he’s a kid. His usual redundancy and captain obvious shtick is still intact here. It’s also clear he knows nothing about the franchises he covers, especially Five Nights at Freddy’s (and that’s his main thing somehow).

And get this, Steve is far more annoying than the Irate Gamer. Steve is an egocentric dick that has to constantly crow on how awesome he is and how he’s soooo cool and all the other toys are lame compared to him. If you have to claim you’re cool, you’re not. Yet somehow the kids love this!

It also became clear that all the tech product shilling was likely done just to fund this channel. Good luck trying to get the word out to his fans, Chris will delete delete delete.

I could fill an entire list with moments from Puppet Steve (that Deathstroke video… *shudders*) but there lies another problem with the series, it’s beyond formulaic. Nearly every video is the same. Steve shows the toy, Zombie Steve says something, he talks about the toy with as little detail as possible, wacky jokes, the toy comes to life, wacky jokes, end on a wacky joke. It all runs together.
Sometimes there’s a change. Like Chris will bring his step-daughter on to voice Puppet Alex (based on the other default skin in Minecraft) so she can review girl toys. This is actually preferable because “Alex” sounds like she knows what she’s talking about, and wants to review things. I think Chris got offended by my preference for her as she hasn’t appeared in a while. I thought “busy with school”, but she’s like 7 and they have weekends.
He also did a couple gameplay videos. One on Lego Dimensions where he clearly didn’t know how to play, and one on Five Nights at Freddy’s Sister Location, which he never finished. Smooth.
Otherwise, most of the videos are the same and it’s boring.

Somehow, he gets lots and lots and lots of views. Apparently kid channels like this are really popular. If this is what Chris wants to do, then he needs to put in effort. Like Irate Gamer, kids will not look back on this fondly. They’ll rewatch it when they’re older and realize “this is the dumbest thing ever”. Chris can’t grow if he continues to half-ass it, just like the Irate Gamer. History repeats.

And so, 2016 comes to a close. I know people are constantly wondering if I’m done. … I don’t know. All depends on what stupid shit Chris does next. He could actually release his announced second book, I could get info from someone close to him that leads to some really big answers, Puppet Steve might actually evolve behind “same shit different toy”.

I leave with one more piece of advice for Chris. Make sure the news you read is true, check your sources, don’t fall for obviously fake stories.

@BatDan - BTW, I'm not surprised you couldn't get to a top 10 with how lackluster this year was for Bores.

    3. And yes, I do apologize for that post. Didn't mean to sound offensive.

See, Bores, if you apologize (which we know you never will), you'll be able to get forgiveness from your fans...

  2. Thanks Dan,
was waiting for your Post the whole day here over in Germany.
2016 was a lame year for chris but thanks to some user (like the guy from youtube, i read some comments from him, he seems like a very realistic guy in a positive guy) still the non-effort and none-existing writing skills of Chris Bores are exposed. I wish you all a happy new year. I hope i have the chance to post some more in the next year. But your comments are too close to modern video games, and i'm not in it any more since 2010. Best luck for everyone in the next year. Even for Chris Bores so Dan has something to work with! :)

  3. Well, i really have nothing to say, except good job on the list. I'm surprised you didn't include Bores wearing his mommy mask and attacking the blog. And i knew Bores leaving IG for puppets and lying to his fans at the same time was going to make the list. And i tried telling the fans about his puppet games, and thankfully bores hasn't deleted my comments on YT in his recent ghost hunt video about 2 months ago.

  4. I'm probably the only person here who thought Donald Trump getting elected was one of the best things to happen this year. I was surprised Chris voted for him and at first I thought he only claimed under his LB777 account just to troll millennial gamers who always vote democrat even if Charles Manson was the candidate.

    3. I'm also delighted with Trump's election, an infinitely more credible choice than the lesser Clinton. Brexit was great as well. The mass of celebrities dying sucked but the number of unhinged SJWs lamenting the fact that political results didn't go their way and therefore this is the worst year in history shows both childishness, bigotry, and a complete lack of perspective.

  7. Two more terrible moments:

    2. Chris begging his fans for positive reviews for his book.

    Yep, so much begging.

    1. He begged to work on DuckTales?

Well in this scene, Scrooge McDuck needs to start an argument with a 70's cereal mascot, then gets beaten up, and then something exploded. Now do that for every scene and we'll have a hilarious episode!

    2. Yeah. He begged to be a script writer on Twitter iirc, and I'm pretty sure he would add food references everywhere.

    3. He's still on about Ghost Hunting 2.0 ? Rather than writing a book about ghosts, perhaps he should have just either continue on with The Dark Chapters. At least that has more substance concept-wise instead of ghost hunting.

Personally, I'm rather neutral about ghosts. They might exist, but at the same time, most of the sightings are in your own head, or with a logical explanation behind it (I once read about how this scientist was seeing things around his corner, but was later caused by a vibrating vent fan that was resonating his eyeballs). https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Infrasound

  8. Since it looks like Bores is done with Irate Gamer, how about a worst Irate Gamer moments of all time list? In just under 10 years, he's amassed quite a bit of bad moments.

    1. Well Sword, Bores might get desperate and make a comeback, so even i'm not sure if he really is through. Besides, it's been a good seven years (3 for me) for this blog and as we all know, all things must come to an end.

      Delete
    2. I thought the same thing too since he's cried wolf with retirement before. But I still think a worst moments of all time list could still work since the 10-year anniversary of Irate Gamer is approaching.

      Delete
    3. I hate to say this, but you never know. Always expect the unexpected. But you are right about when it comes to Bores. It's all about the money in his eyes. And Puppet Steve will collapse eventually and considering he doesn't give a damn about IG anymore, it might be over for The Bores overall on the internet. And a list of Boring Man's biggest blunders would be a perfect way to end the blog/say farewell. Trying to leech money and followers off Nimoy's death will always be his worst moment for me. I mean, he can't get any lower than that, can he?

      Delete
    4. To be fair, Blame Society, a YouTube channel that actually put out good content like the Chad Vader series, is now doing nothing but box wars.

  9. The worst thing about Irate Gamer this year is that he hasn't even done anything particularly worth caring about. He's just been in a complete holding pattern and has no interest in learning anything. AVGN and NC arguably had some of their worst years in terms of content, but at least they still had content and some of it was still decent. IG barely did a damn thing for twelve months, and can't even be bothered with his new show.

    ReplyDelete
  10. I think a list of worst IG moments of all time would definitely suffice. Especially considering his major lack of material this year.

    Anyway, happy new year, everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  11. I still think multiple top ten lists would be the perfect way to end Chris' "career." Top 10 Worst IG episodes, Top 10 Worst IG Neo, Worst HOVG, Worst Acting Moments, Worst Jokes, Worst Research Failures, Worst Videos In General, etc. So much failure to get through in ten years.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Yeah, this year was a mess, and there's really not much I can say about it that anyone else already has. It just wouldn't stop at all (it's only been a few days since the passing of Carrie Fisher at age 60, her mother not long after that); and Chris didn't help at all. If Boring Man is truly done with IG, then I think it's officially time to potentially riff the intended "finale" of the Power Rangers "reviews" (again, Genesis and Sega CD versions would have to be done somewhere besides YouTube because of the stolen Megazord footage). I definitely plan to enjoy 2017 the best I can, since I had a relatively nice Christmas even with everything that's happened; and my 25th birthday will be on the 10th. That, and there will be many anticipated hardware and software releases on the horizon; least of all the Switch and Zelda: Breath of the Wild (still planning on getting the Wii U version, then waiting till 2018 at the earliest to officially upgrade, so I can see what other people think and see what other games will be out). Hopefully getting a PS4 soon (since plenty of big titles will be coming out for that and the Uncharted 4 bundle has been marked down), as well as continuing the hunt for the NES Classic Edition (I didn't even see an extra controller on the shelf until a month after it launched, and the online scalpers can go anywhere from $200 to $5,000. For a list price of $60, it's like the Wii all over again 10 years later.). That's about all for now, see you all in 2017.

    1. @ SpyroFan93:
I also agree with how sad this year has been for both Chris and the readers of this blog, the former due to how he utterly screwed over his fans with little to no communication at all and the latter as his lack of actual content gives us very little to discuss and poke fun at. While Bores seems to have moved on to Puppet Steve, I do not consider that actual "good" content. While I understand the general demographic is far younger than me by many years and thus it makes sense why I am not entertained in the slightest by any videos posted on that channel, I don't get how anybody can stand Steve. If the videos themselves aren't boring and redundant, then Steve's high-pitched and obnoxious-as-hell voice would surely turn people off. (It certainly did for me. I only watched one or two videos of his and vowed to never again expose myself to another one.)
Also, concerning that rumor about Breath of the Wild being cancelled for the Wii U, I'm remaining rather skeptical about that. Considering how Nintendo showcased the Wii U version of the game both at E3 2016 and at the Games Awards last month, it's unclear why they would choose to cancel development of the title this late (especially since the game could come out as early as March when the Switch launches). While Yooka-Laylee's reasons for being on the Switch rather than Wii U was understandable given how the game just can't run on the outdated hardware, I can't see the same reason being the one Nintendo uses to cancel Breath of the Wild for the Wii U. Even if the framerate won't be as steady and some aspects will be gimped, it still would make sense to release the game like they originally promised 3 years ago. It would show Nintendo still cares about its fan (even though there's plenty of reasons to refute this). Considering how some people solely bought a Wii U to experience Breath of the Wild even before it got an official name, it would be a huge slap in the face and upset many fans. I understand the Switch version will be the ideal way to play the game, but that doesn't mean you should not allow Wii U owners the chance to experience it as well. I mean, not everyone has the time or extra spending money to go out and buy a $300+ system solely to play Breath of the Wild.

      Delete
    2. And this is why I don't buy/play any newer video games.

      Delete
    3. Well, not the only reason, has more to do with time/money, but definitely one of the reasons

      Delete
    4. Yeah, I can see that; MacDragard. Those are the two major reasons why I have to very carefully consider any release these days. The first question I ask myself before I decide to invest either is this: "Will I still be playing this in one year? Two years? Three years? Five years? Ten years? Longer?" It's generally a lot more out if I end up disappointed with a game as opposed to a film or a TV series. You definitely raise some good points, Spyro; but I'll definitely keep an eye on both Breath of the Wild and the Switch in the time till they're both tentatively launching. To my knowledge, most places I've looked at the Wii U version are still accepting preorders; so I'm not going to pull the trigger until I have more information to go on (I did just get my all-time favorite game, Ocarina of Time on Virtual Console; I have several other Zelda-related titles in mind in case it doesn't pan out). As for Yooka-Laylee: it definitely looks fun, and it looks more like a real third Banjo-Kazooie game than just an attempt to ride Little Big Planet's coattails. At most, I could see Nintendo double-dipping on Breath of the Wild like they did with Twilight Princess (which had a GameCube version which was overshadowed by the Wii version at the time), releasing the U version for those that want it while having another version on the Switch for those that want to upgrade right away. Regardless of processing power, the concept of the system itself intrigues me. As for Mr. Stolar: yeah, his decisions at Sega were a whole series of boneheaded moves (including, but not limited to cancelling Streets of Rage 4 on the grounds that he never heard of the series; and blocking the lion's share of 2D Saturn games coming stateside despite many of them being arcade-perfect ports of popular fighting games of the time). Kimishima definitely has some big shoes to fill in Iwata's absence, I certainly hope he can make good on what he and the company has planned.

      Delete
    5. My biggest problem is that you used to be able to play a game and beat it within a day or within a rental period. Even with longer games like RPGs, you could usually finish within a month. Nowadays games take like five months or longer to beat.

      Delete
    6. Yeah, I agree those were detrimental to a lot of those consoles. Still, I try my best to keep an open mind whenever any manufacturer announces a new console; and I admit the Switch can definitely be a make-or-break deal for the Big N given response to the Wii U (which I have no regrets over owning, still looking into more games before support officially ceases and it becomes a breeding ground for low-grade Barbie and moose hunting games like past ones have). I am intrigued by the idea of being to play Breath of the Wild anywhere from my bedroom to a plane at 40,000 feet; and I suppose we'll know more when the Direct presentation occurs on the 13th. Hopefully luck is with the console and Ninty, since there were quite a few big companies pledging their support (examples that stood out at me being Activision, Bethesda and Sega; among others). I will admit not everything has gone the way they expected; but I'll also admit this console generation and the next one have seen increasing competition from PC and mobile gaming. I know specs are important, but I've generally bought more systems based on content rather than processing power. Some people like performance, I like the idea of a certain title or IP that's unique to that particular device. With each passing console generation, Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft have all had at least something I'm interested in playing at one time or another. I definitely plan on picking up Breath of the Wild and Yooka-Laylee in the near future, I just need more information to go on. Spyro, I can definitely recommend the first couple Banjo-Kazooie games as good platformers; and the Rare Replay pack on XB1 would be a good way to try them. As for Nuts and Bolts: I personally didn't think it was a bad game, but I can agree with many of the fans who were expecting a third platformer and being confused by a Little Big Planet-style game instead. Also, I can sort of agree with Mighty No.9 basically being like a small-scale version of the Duke Nukem Forever debacle, given how all versions of it have been severely marked-down wherever I shop for games. Still not many takers, and that horrible "Masterclass" advert didn't help (the "anime fan on prom night" bit was not only stupid, it made me want to have Kamina punch that narrator over and over. Basically, they shot themselves in the foot; not helped by the Japanese developers bashing the ad on Twitter and the massive amount of downvotes it got on YouTube).

      Delete
    7. I agree, Spyro. I certainly hope the gamble of the Switch pays off; and that infamous advert to me was almost as bad as the "Baby" spot for the PS3. As for the game itself: it's now considerably lower on my priorities even with the markdowns. For $20, some of the titles that I'm giving more interest in include Zelda Wind Waker HD, Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3; and both Pokémon Snap and Mario Kart 64 on Virtual Console, among others. As someone who enjoys the classic and X Mega Man games, even with all the setbacks, I did at least express hope that it could overcome them. Given the critical and commercial failure of the game, that hope has definitely been dashed. At best, it could give me more appreciation for my copies of Splatoon (which handled the style and tone of the game better), Super Smash Bros. U (along with the 3DS version I got over the holidays, getting a lot of mileage out of it), Pokkén Tournament (which even managed to outsell Street Fighter V, which I gather was a disappointment) and Mario Maker (which came with my U, really enjoying the flexibility of the creation system; and I'm seriously considering the 3DS version soon). With my birthday getting closer, in addition to getting a new phone; looks like I might finally get a PS4 soon with all sorts of new games coming (and the Uncharted 4 bundle being in good supply). Even with all these rumors surrounding the ninth generation, I am least pleased that both the console and Breath of the Wild are highly likely to meet their intended launch in springtime. Yooka-Laylee definitely looks fun; and with the creative team of the first couple Banjo-Kazooie games onboard, I certainly hope it rekindle that same spirit given how Rare isn't what it once was. No matter what happens this year, it's clear to me that much like last year; it's going to be very big for video games with all these anticipated hardware and software releases helping bring us into the ninth generation.

    8. @MacDragard,

Frankly, I think modern game consoles require patience, but said patience yields plenty of rewards.

Have you ever used Steam. I very rarely have problems with Steam, even on (and especially on) Windows 10. The Mac version is ok, too.

I mostly like the PSN store on PS3, so I'd imagine the PS4 version is also pretty good.

The Xbox One DRM is kinda troubling, though. I don't have an Xbone yet, but want to get Project Scorpio for the Rare games. PS4 looks like a great system, but most of the exclusives for it that appeal to me are just digital releases or HD remasters of older games.

I heard people talking about how "tragic" Carrie Fisher's death was. That woman had so many drug/alcohol issues when she was younger that John Belushi was concerned for her. She died at 60 of natural causes.

I don't mean to sound indifferent, I feel for their families, but I just don't get why their fans are so obsessed.

Back in 2014 I saw a Facebook post from a person who realized their good friend from high school died, very young, leaving behind young children. It was one post that basically amounted to "Well, that sucks". Same person must have shared a dozen tribute posts about Paul Walker.

Boring man astounds me a little. Each year he makes the same trite mistakes. But, at the same time, each year he brings something new to the table. Whether it be something we learned about him that makes us respect him even less (as if we weren't already in the negative) or he manages to top himself on his self-built mountain of scumbaggery. My personal (dis)favorite Bores moment this year was setting aside his own stepdaughter to hog the spotlight. Truly a shame, Bores. Your stepdaughter could've been a star.

Reminds me of one of the reasons it disappointments me that he has deleted so many videos: The comments are gone. In one of the aforementioned videos (part one probably), he says near the beginning that the video is to "help you shop for that hard to find (as opposed to shop for) person" Youtuber Master Jay (who puts out very infrequent, brief but pretty snarkily humorous videos) made a pretty witty comment about it but I can't remember it anymore. Also, those figurines aren't my niche (looking into getting some games for my PS4, which is on its way; not to mention more Virtual Console games); not helped by the video title almost bordering on "Backstroke of the West" territory of word salad. 3. Exactly, Spyro. I can imagine that much like IG, many of the kids who watch Puppet Steve will inevitably grow tired of it and want something else; and Boring Man will be unable to deliver anything else and move on to other things. Being unwilling to adapt to a changing online landscape has always been one of my problems with Chris, much more than anything else. He's more or less gone from ripping off you-know-who to ripping himself off. Still, I agree that apart from handful of other videos; the lion's share consist of "Steve shows off a toy, acts like a moron, brags about how great he is, lather, rinse, repeat." Couple that with his ghost fetish and endless unboxings/shilling; he is now officially at The Eye Creatures level of not caring about his audience at all.

Having questionable political allies is someone literally everyone has, because human nature is flawed. 46. I've been looking through this blog's posts from 2016, and was reminded of something I would consider a worst of the year moment for Bores: post from May 4th, on his website he basically wrote a sentence, then copy/pasted an article regarding how the Ghostbusters trailer was among the most disliked vids on youtube, and didn't give any credit to the original author (ie the classic Bores stand-bye plagiarism). Also forgotten, he actually changed the name of the channel twice (I was thinking he did the first super brief change in '15). Also, I think the actual worst moment isn't so much the puppet steve channel or its initial secrecy or abandoning IG quietly for it. I would consider the worst moment specifically Steve's reaction video to the trailer to that baudy animated movie about the talking food in the grocery store (can't remember the name and eyes/brain are to nonfunctioning atm to bother Googling). It just seems a little sleazy for something that has a large young audience. Though to be fair, I'm not too sure how bad that really is, I remember watching fairly sleazy shit on TVand overheard adults talk naughty (or whatever) and around 3rd grade my mom didn't care if I watched every horror movie in the rental place(s), though she would make me "turn my head" during sex scenes (skinning dipping and showering were a ok though) and i'm not a perverted maniac. Also a potential worst moment(s), not just that he turned IG into a shopping network, but if I remember correctly he also failed to mention in most of them that they were actually sponsored videos (though in his defense he did dedicate his 2 part XMas guide in part to all his sponsors this year), which is apparently breaking some law, and some of the (cr)apps he pushed

    1. (out of his ass and) onto his channel were likely bad for people's new fangled telemofone thingies(and someone with a useless phone these days is like someone missing an arm or getting knocked stupid by a blow to the head). Another thing I would like to see this blog do if Bores isn't giving BD much to work with(in addition to some lists as others have opined): How about a series of posts about other shitty reviewers? For example, Game Dude. Give a bit of back story, a critique of there stuff and what kind of flubs they made. Maybe rate them on a scale that uses Bores as the center: How worse or better is the overall output and moral behavior of that reviewer compared to him. Or even a look at respectable/good reviewers. I love AVGN but think taking the microscope to him could be interesting. how about Pat The Nes Punk? I really think he does a good job and loves what he does, but lots of his humor in his Punk episodes makes me cringe. One last thing i would like to see: this might require BD to make a sideblog, maybe call it IGSUCKS: The Bores Files or something. It could have a post that is a timeline of Bores since his start on youtube beginning with his beginnings as Y2b-whatever-number-it-was until his retirement of IG. Maybe some post with some stats: How many sentient beings he has killed (and how many were in self defense and how many were more like cold blooded murder), number of instances of copying, number of factual errors, how many times he has resorted to cheating in games, etc. It should also have what year and month to look up on this blog to read more about any particular episode or incident being referenced (I hope that sentence makes sense). It might be somewhat of a light version of the blog but I think it would be interesting as in all in one, kinda quick overview of all this madness. I think of doing something similar myself but my attention span isn't quite up to that. On that note, I have lots of thoughts on the whole IG phenomenon, but I'm gonna give it a rest for a while, try and put them in some logical order that doesn't flip my shit by looking like a buffalo diarrhea dump with a side of dick waffles, and put it on my (otherwise inactive other than an introductory post featuring future plans unfulfilled after a year, procrastination levels that makes Irate Gamer show look hyper prolific) blog, to avoid posting (yet another) comment on this blog that makes Steve or Spyro's longer posts look like a message from a fortune cookie as far as word count. I will let you all know if and when I do such a thing just in case anyone would actually want to read such a rambling piece of torture.

    2. Uh the entire game isn't set in New Donk, nor is it even the real world. Based on the name, I presume it's supposed to be where Donkey Kong is set.

  48. OT: I'm a high school senior and today the school I go to announced their walkathon. Everyone booed when it was announced that most of the prizes would be Skylanders (and old ones from Trap Team at that).

    2. Seriously? Who was running that? Boring Man? Come On,That's an insult to everybody who did the walkathon (No offense, iDuck). Speaking of which, i see Chris is still posting Puppet Bores videos out his ass ( I'm gonna call "Steve" Puppet Bores from now on). It seems Bores is going to end up a victim of his own self-destruction soon. Enjoy your puppet games, Bores. Soon kids are going to grow up, look back on Puppet Bores and realize that it's the dumbest shit ever, all while your remaining fans leave CB Network and never turn back. And when it happens, you'll have nobody to blame but yourself, you fu*king hack. Enjoy what little time you have left, Bores.

    3. Maybe four or five, just in case. In that case, the end is still coming for Bores. He can only do the same repetitive shit on Puppet Bores before kids leave him as they get older. And yeah, he pretty much doesn't give a shit anymore. It's only a matter of time before he completely self-destructs on the internet. He can wear his mommy mask and cry and bitch and moan and blame it on somebody else, but in the end it'll be his own damn fault. Hope it was worth it, Bores.

    2. I didn't even bother watching the video because I have much better stuff to do than waste my time on Puppet Bores. Who wants to bet that his newfound fans will get tired of him milking the hell out FNAF as hard as he can very soon? It'll be like the over-milking he did with Skylanders back in 2012 all over again.

    3. Face it: Bores is done for. He's given up on CB Network and as his Puppet Bores fans grow up and realize how dumb it is, it's pretty much over for Bores on the internet. Hope it was worth it, Boring Man.

I have an idea for the villain's true identity.

    Here's a hint: 80's.

    5. Why would MacFarlane want to back bring back Communism? Is he secretly a Russian in your RPG or something? I wasn't surprised it would be Fraud MacFarlane knowing your videos, DLA. By the way, did you always hate Family Guy since the moment it started?

    6. You use RPG Maker? If you don't have the latest version, I actually might have one to gift you on Steam. Feel free to send me an email.

    7. @Dave

The last version I used was VX, but then my computer died on me last November and I'm still looking for a new one.

I have the money for a new laptop, but I kinda don't want to waste too much on having to install the latest version of Windows, that is, MS Word and stuff, unless it's already there.

Give me your email and I'll send you mine.

      @Rocket

Russian does not equal Commie. There were plenty of anti-Marxists in Russian history from the failed White Movement to Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. A ton of sympathizers to idea were seen with such crap as Occupy and BLM

I liked Family Guy when I was in high school, but as time wore and I fell out of love with it. It was especially after the revival that I saw that they stopped giving a shit about what they were doing. It became too cruel, too sex-obsessed, and too reliant on cutaways.

There was also schism which deepened for political, philosophical, and religious reasons. While I had become a mixture of conservative and libertarian ideas, the MacFarlaneverse stuck to the axiom "The Left is Always Right" and never abandoned it. MacFarlane's Christophobia also alienated me, clinging to myths that his strain of atheism espouse. For instance, he thinks the Church caused the "Dark Ages" (an archaic term most academics refuse to use) when in reality it had more to do with the dissolution of the Roman Empire and the Roman government's refusal to mass-produce new technology.

I could pen a whole essay on that.

I pretty much said "Fuck this shit" by the time of their first STAR WARS special. Then it began to dig deeper into the hole.

I tended to notice that Christophobia and sporadic disrespect for the US aside, he never seemed to make fun of Marxism. The only time he seemed to do so on FG was this cheesy fake sitcom in a cutaway gag... Which was all puns.

The closest he ever came was... the Nazis.
A subject beaten into the ground so hard that it's lodged into the Earth's core.

    8. So you think he's a commie? (Just wondering,DLA)

    9. @Rocket

I'm not jumping to any conclusions, but it's something ambiguous.

The game pretty much has a tone similar to THE GREAT MUPPET CAPER in that it pokes fun at oldschool RPG tropes like NPCs who can't move and the 99 of one item cap, yet the plot still plays out nevertheless.

Still early in the plot, there's a group living in a desert that the previous town is afraid of... but that fear turns out to be kinda stupid when one finally lays eyes on them. Of course, said group was influenced by the Amazons of Greco-Roman Myth, so in spite of their silly appearance... you wouldn't want to fight them.

  51. So Ringling Brothers & Barnum & Bailey Circus is shutting down. I'm personally torn about this: it certainly sucks for the hundreds of workers who will be out of jobs, but OTOH it feels like an idea whose time passed long ago.

    1. I'm glad to have seen a Ringling Bros show at least once, but I'm not surprised that it's shutting down. A circus can't survive in today's technologically advanced and politically correct ADD society.
