Have a Happy 2018

What do you mean it's only December 19th?

Yeah the year's not over yet but here's my post to cap it off. There's not going to be a list.

The Irate Gamer is still dead. The last video to actually talk about a video game was 20 months ago. Despite this fans still demand new episodes, even though Chris left a message in the channel description that he was done. Chris is apparently not smart enough to realize that people don't read those and he should have made a final video saying "I'm done, no more". But apparently even that was too much.

Instead Chris has increased focus on ghosts, and how he's an "expert ghost behaviorist". Whatever the fuck that means.
He made a new Facebook post where he complained about a parapsychologist and how they're "full of it". This is parapscyhology. It's just as dumb as "ghost hunting" or whatever so really it's one charlatan complaining about another charlatan. It would be like Dr. Nick Riviera saying Snake isn't a good enough criminal, you're both terrible!

Despite Chris trying to make ghosts his big thing now, we all know where his time is going and his money is coming from. 2017 saw a MASSIVE deluge of Puppet Steve videos, I think around 280 just this year (and who knows how many before the year is out). That is shit! Low effort pandering, the equivalent of dangling keys in front a kid's face. Every video is the same, and sometimes with very little scripting.
The Puppet Steve drinking game: Take a drink every time he say "cool". Be warned that some videos may kill you.
Really the only positive I can say about Puppet Steve is that it's not disgusting and offensive. I mean it's "offensive" in that there's no value to kids, but that's a different matter. I mean it's nothing like those "Spider-Man & Elsa" videos or the ones that use other copyrighted characters and put them in awful situations. Often with needles, or forced stripping, or forced pregnancy, all sorts of content that sooo isn't child-friendly but manages to bypass YouTube's terrible algorithm and be marked as "good for kids" That's the best thing I can say about Puppet Steve

However, I have a theory. My informants have noticed that Chris never brings up Puppet Steve to his fans on social media. I don't think that's out of malice, I think it's out of shame. I think he's genuinely ashamed that the majority of his money comes from making mindless sugary YouTube videos for 5 year olds. You can tell he wants all his ghost stuff to be huge but nobody cares anymore. That's not the fantasy most people want to live in.
But who knows, the man seems to really enjoy lying.

Either way, I hope everyone has a Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year. Always vote.

  1. Puppet Steve is worse than Irate Gamer.
I mean, IG was bad but at least there was a minimal effort put into it. There were original characters, scripts and often bad information. There were plenty of instances when Chris had no idea what he was talking about. But at least we could talk about it.

Puppet Steve feels like the show was designed off of a checklist:

Find a highly lucrative segment on YouTube – Toys. Toy videos get high view counts and attract advertisers.
Make the show as unobjectionable as possible so as not to scare away advertisers or toy manufacturers.

Make sure Chris does not appear in the videos so as to not let his reputation impact the show.

Use popular characters in various media to attract viewers.

Don’t be overly critical; that may scare off companies from sending samples.

The result is a soulless pile of blandness. Earlier this year Chris updated the Puppet Steve intro to end on a shot of Steve, the zombie, Alex, Lego Batman and various other characters. A group of characters Chris does not own any rights to serves as the foundation for his show. Puppet Steve brings in the money now but the fact he cannot take any credit for it must be frustrating for someone with a large ego like Chris.

Go to the bread aisle of any major supermarket and look for something. Find the cheapest bag of highly processed enriched white bread. Puppet Steve is the YouTube equivalent of that nutritional wasteland. Sure, it can be criticized but ultimately there is not much to say about it.

  2. This is exactly what happened to The Annoying Orange after the TV show failed. It's currently pandering to those 5-year-olds with little-to-no fruit murdering. Even Daneboe admitted that it wasn't the direction he wanted to take the series, but it's the only thing keeping him afloat financially.

The difference between Dane and Chris is that Annoying Orange's popularity waned and viewers went elsewhere, leaving only little ones with their parents' iPads. Chris, while he still had fans (no matter what age they were), jumped ship when he found YouTube gold with kid videos, leaving what little fanbase he had left in the dust.

That's what happens to channels that are over ten years old. Their audience grows out of their videos and the creators have to either adapt to the new YouTube climate, no matter how desperate, or abandon their channels.

  3. I can barely get through this movie. I'm up to the Christmas tree section of it and our "star's" just talking out of his ass, trying to stuff a square peg into a round hole.

  4. Bores' latest post:
Gosh, Many thanks to everyone that Purchased my book or IrateGamer/Pursuit of the Paranormal DVD's this month! I was overwhelmed with orders! There has been a slight shipping delay since we received so many but the last of them should be out by tomrrow. Hoping that everyone will receive by Christmas. If you plan on still ordering anything, make sure you get your order in very soon. Thanks!"

    1. Hehe... haha... AHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Okay.... let's look at the feedback he's been getting from this great book that he's been getting so many orders on. We already covered 2015 very well, a lot of obviously fake positives from paid/bribed reviewers and sock-puppets, otherwise the feedback was pretty much universally negative.

Bores claims that the book is still selling so well that he's "overwhelmed" with orders? Let's check out 2016 and 2017...

In 2016 there where seven reviews, four negative, three positive. Only one of the three positive reviews mentions any of the book's content (it's a 4/5 review), so it's likely the only positive review that wasn't fake.

In 2017 there is one review, on 1-2-2017, from someone who said they hadn't received the order after "over a year", so that was likely bought in 2015. Nothing else in all of 2017.

The only thing Bores will be "overwhelmed" with is creating a whole bunch of new sock-puppet reviews after reading this comment, to fake a spike in Christmas sales.

New AVGN episode. Is that Twilight of Neo Kobe City (the original Snatcher opening theme) I'm hearing?

  6. I have a confession to make, but I would probably get laughed at by the lot of you. I haven't even spoken to Dan in years and it's something I wouldn't reveal due to things like Mikey93 and a few others.

    1. So, I was right about getting a Switch. I’ll try some of the games recommended.

My wife has played some Odyssey, just passing the controller to me for some difficult parts, it seems really cool.

I picked up DooM, not sure why as I don’t like FOS on gamepad, but it seems like a good game so far.

And Zelda... wow, that game is amazing!

  8. Forgive my not posting anything in regard to the review. With its astronomical stupidity wearing me out and observing Christmas and work and all, I ran out of time.

  9. Merry belated Christmas!

And a happy new year, too!

And yes, this applies to Bores, too.

  10. Over on Puppet Steve, he recently posted two videos about BOOTLEG FNAF and Bendy action figures. Just wondering, does this mean we can add Ashens to the list of YouTubers he's ripped off?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. That might be a bit of a reach. Ashens doesn't own the concept of reviewing bad knockoffs. I mean, Ashens used a puppet years ago for Chef Excellence but I wouldn't accuse Bore-ess of ripping that idea from Ashens either.

Bores follows views. He noticed that FNAF and Bendy were popular among his viewers so he is getting as much stuff as he can to review to keep the views coming in.

    2. I thought at least some of his videos were sponsored content. He's not going to get sponsorship from legit companies if he features bootlegs.

      Delete
    3. ^ That's a really good point. Showing bootlegs could jeapordize future freebies for his channel.

    1. Pretty good. I lucked out and all the Best Buys in my area got huge shipments of SNES Classics. I had to go to multiple stores but I managed to get four of them. I kept one for myself and gave the other three as gifts, so I had some pleasantly surprised gift recipients this year.

  13. OT: You know what I think is bullshit about YouTube, aside from their terrible (and oftentimes hypocritical) policies? "Recommended to You" videos constantly showing up, even when they have nothing to do with the video I am watching (or the user who uploaded it). Anyone experience this?

    ReplyDelete

    1. What I hate is how watching a single video spams my feed with videos on the same topics. I might watch a video or two on what someone thinks of the new Star Wars movie. I don't need to see what dozens of other YouTube users think of the movie. Sometimes I might watch something I have a casual interest in. Just a video or two is enough to satisfy my curiosity on those things.

    2. And that's something I think YouTube should really fix. Just as much (if not more so) than their issues regarding fair use.

    3. Oh my god, I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates that.

I don't even think it's about him ripping iff avgn anymore, you pathetic cunts need someone to vent your lifes frustrations on and you figure bores will do. He's stopped doing games now, he's a paranormal investigator now? THE CUNTS RIPPING OFF GHOSTBUSTERS NOW, IS NOTHING SACRED?

    3. Guys, this is the lowest-level, most obvious troll in the history of anything, ever.

      Delete
    4. Itsmrben: I was being sarcastic about that. It wouldn't shock me if something honestly did yell that.

And trolling? Not exactly, i was making a valid point. People hated the irate gamer character for ripping off AVGN. Bores stops doing the irate gamer, the ringleader for the irate gamer haters start flaming him for doing other things, so I'm therefore drawn to conclude that no matter what Bores does, your ringleader and his followers will continue to follow him around, just to insult him. Real fucking pathetic.

      Delete
    5. You do realize that it wasn’t just the plagiarism that got Bores hated, right? There were other problems such as giving inaccurate information, making multiple sock puppets to harass both James Rolfe as well as his own detractors, scamming his own fan base, lying to make himself look good, among other things. As for his other projects, the problem is that they’re just as if not more poorly executed than his Irate Gamer videos. It doesn’t help that even to this day, Chris still doesn’t take criticism and still lies to make himself look good.
Keep in mind that I’ve been somewhat hit or miss with the blog in recent years due to some people immediately labeling those who defend Bores as trolls or sock puppets as well as finding a few post lacking or even pointless (I know some of them didn’t like my commentary on the McDonalds post, but just complaining about jokes over and over doesn’t add anything) but at the same time, there’s still reasons to be critical of Chris as he still tends to pull some rather idiotic stunts.

    6. @macboy796: Again, this is a very low-level and very obvious troll you're feeding. He's well aware of anything you could tell him.

    7. Truthfully I wasn’t sure :/
I’ll go sit in the corner now (walks away)

    8. @macboy796: You said in your post that anyone who defends Bores or doesn't follow the pack mentality is either a troll or a puppet account. I am neither, but good luck explaining the difference between a troll and a different opinion to this guy. Twice he calls me a troll, without anything to back up his claim on why I'm a troll. If anything, he's the one trolling here, not me.

      Delete
    9. @Shaolin Dave: at the same time, the only real proof we have is that the account is completely empty and that he’ defending Bores. I’ve actually people who act like this and were completely legit.
Again, just because he’s badmouthing the blog, doesn’t automatically mean he’s a troll. Just my thoughts, feel free to disagree.

      Delete
    10. Let’s look at it logically:

      He makes the claims that:

      A) we hate Bores
      B) because he was an AVGN rip-off

Now, MANY times the regular followers of this blog have praised Bores for his few strong points. He actually is a pretty good editor, and with an improved work ethic could’ve even made a profession out of it.
We’ve wished him well when we’d found out he’d gotten married and when we found out his daughter was born.
The claim that we “hate” him is bogus and inflammatory.

Also, the claim that his only flaw is his AVGN plagiarism, and that he’s moved past his one flaw. This blog has pointed out far more flaws which he has not improved on. Quite a few followers of this blog aren’t even AVGN fans and/or have made similar criticisms of AVGN.

      So, Unknown either:

      A) is unaware of these points because he decided to attack the blog without educating himself first, which makes him a troll, or
      B) is aware of these points, but has actively decided to ignore them and attack the blog anyway, which makes him a troll.

      Delete
    11. Everyone has their perspective I guess :/
Like said, it’s a bit hard to tell from my perspective due to arguing with truly idiotic individuals in the past who do things like ignore or even dodge certain points and have turned out to be legit. Saganfan1983 AKA theorionbrodcast is someone who comes to mind.

    12. I shouldn’t have to explain this because trolls always same shit. Just like the assholes on Mac forums saying you can’t play games or right-click. They’re wrong, they know they’re wrong, and telling them they’re wrong is just encouraging their stupid habit.
      JUST. FUCKING. IGNORE. THEM.

      Delete
    13. Calm down, I wasn’t trying to claim you were wrong about unknown, I was simply explaining where I was coming from.

      Delete
    14. When someone tells you to not feed the troll, and you respond to explaining to them why you're feeding the troll, you're feeding the troll.

      Just stop.

      Delete
    15. Just stop.

Take your own advice and stop accusing people of trolling if they don't share your point of view.

Mac, ignore him. He's obviously too stupid to allow a thing called "a different opinion to his" and results in accusing them of trolling.

      Delete
    16. Nah, Unknown is absolutely right.

Following some rando's activity for almost 10 years is obsessive. It's like the people that claim to stalk DSP because they are trying to help him improve or some bullshit. Fuck off. You're just in it for the drama.

He's some hack AVGN copycat that very few people know about. He doesn't even do the AVGN shit anymore. Let it go.
