It's been a month

Chris posted his last "Neo" video on July 6th. It is now August 6th. What the hell?
It can not be that hard to put together a video on Mario Game Genie codes, especially the way he does it. He opens his emulator, turns on the game, inputs the Game Genie code, and records the result. Then he edits it down with some boring reaction shots. How does that take a long time? A competent editor could do it in like a day.

And once again, your family is not an excuse. Not when you make 32(!) Puppet Steve videos and 3 Zombie Steve videos in that span of time.
You're probably wondering why I keep mentioning his "family" excuse? That's what he wrote on his site, that he'll sometimes miss a week because of his family responsibilities. I'd show you... except Chris let his site domain lapse again. Second time he's done it this year (unless I missed some instances). How does that keep happening? Is he trying to let it die?

You know Chris, you can tell people you're doing Puppet Steve, and "Chris Neo" is merely a hobby. ... A hobby you get paid for since the videos are sponsored. I'd say ad revenue too but those videos are barely getting views. Too bad you no longer have an audience of Charlies.

But hey, who has time to renew domains or finish promises when there's videos to be made about... Rampage Funko Pops. That movie came out four months ago Chris, way to be relevant. Though looking at the thumbnail they seem more based on the game but that's besides the point, it's clear he made the video in relation to the movie, yet the movie came out four months ago. It already got an Honest Trailer.

Chris also opened a new Puppet Steve store (separate from the Etsy one that sells custom Lego minifigs and Fidget Spi- oh wait, those are gone now hahaha). This store sells t-shirts. Including designs like a logo, "Puppet-Tastic", "Super Awesome!" (cringe), "My Kids Love Puppet Steve" (no parent would be caught dead wearing that), "My Parents Watch Puppet Steve" (no parent would let their child wear that in public) and a forced meme "Zombie Steve, Stop Eating my Figures" (it's the worst selling shirt). Interesting to note how these are all words, with no characters on them. Perhaps someone is afraid of the giant Seattle-based corporate monster that's looming over you and could possibly shut you down at anytime?
There's also a gift card. It's the most popular item. What's weird is that the second and third most popular items are shirts for girls. Are girls a big part of Puppet Steve's audience? Perhaps he should capitalize on it by letting his step-daughter do more videos. She hasn't shown up in a long time. Perhaps he saw me praising her and didn't want her stealing the limelight? Too bad Chris, she knows more than you and she's only a kid.

I also noticed Chris added another channel to his "Featured" section. He didn't make it, it's someone called "Funky Toy Trunk". He added it because he guest-stars in a video. What is this channel? "Animated" Funko Pop videos, and I'm being generous in calling them animated because it moves like South Park. I'm feeling all that cancer.
He shows up in a video playing Funko Pop Steve as he meets... The Tick. Oh yeah, because kids today know who The Tick is. I know there's an Amazon Prime show but I doubt kids watch that.

In non-Puppet Steve news
I added this to the Lost Media Wiki: https://lostmediawiki.com/Hardcore_Pawn_(unreleased_%22Chris_Bores%22_episode_of_reality_show;_existence_unconfirmed;_2015)
A page about his supposed Hardcore Pawn appearance. I marked it as "Existence Unconfirmed" as Chris is the only source of this, and we know he has a history of lying. Maybe a crewman or producer could confirm if the footage exists. But as far as we know, it's all a story.

Not much on Facebook. He brings up The Last Jedi and that he thought it was confusing (no not really, it was flawed but the movie was not confusing). Along with how Will Smith is getting a YouTube channel and "the little guy" is being left behind.  I've already ranted enough about this....

So do you think Chris is ever going to make that last Game Genie video? Or is he going to abandon Chris Neo and just let it die without saying anything? We shall see. But I'm sure he'll find a scapegoat like he has before. "James Rolfe undermined me by posting about the Colecovision when I was going to do that!"

  1. He'll probably end Chris Neo with the last Game Genie video...on a low note just like he ended IG with that terrible Duck Hunt video.

  2. Also, I wonder what Chris thinks about Alex Jones getting banned from YouTube and Facebook?

    1. In all honesty getting banned from facebook nowadays is more of a blessing than anything.

    2. Personally, I think Jones is a nutcase who seems like he'd be more fit as a wrestling announcer, but I still don't think his removal from YouTube, Facebook, etc. was warranted -- it was a political move. The fact of the matter is that Midterms are coming up and most tech platforms are aligned with the Left wing.

Bear in mind Sarah Jeong's derogatory tweet about white people: because idiots on Tumblr and (Insert Random Demographic here) Studies professors proclaim that anti-white racism and anti-male sexism don't exist, she can get a job at the New York Times.

With attitudes like that, I'm not entirely surprised the alt-right became a thing. SMH

    3. Personally, I'm glad Alex Jones is removed from Youtube and Facebook.

    4. Annnnd this is why I stay off social media. YouTube is as far as I go because at least there I get selective viewing unlike facebook and twitter where everyone’s feces is thrown in your face

    5. YouTube and Facebook didn't accomplish anything by banning Jones. If anything, they created a martyr.

  3. I am wondering if the girls t-shirts selling better due to Chris (or someone in the family) buying them for his wife's children? Hard to say without seeing sales numbers but let's be real - the Puppet Steve Etsy store wasn't exactly setting the sales world on fire, why would people who were not inclined to buy the less expensive Puppet Steve merchandise want to buy pricier shirts? His audience is made up of very young kids - not exactly a demographic with loads of disposable income and parents are not falling all over themselves to pay for Puppet Steve products.

As for the Chris Neo show, I suspect he will make those so long as he can get sponsorship for the episodes. Interesting to see that the channel is getting more subscribers according to SocialBlade but the views are very low.

I personally think Chris should just tell his IG followers on Facebook that he does the Puppet Steve show and that channel gets priority since it pays the bills. He would do Chris Neo when time and resources allow for it. Yeah, he would just be confirming he is only in it for the money but I could at least respect the honesty.

Chris will not do that though.

  4. Off Topic: Okay this is starting to really annoy me. People are making rants on Nostalgia Critc reviews even after the Channels Awesome controversy has died down. When people use titles such as “Nostalgia Critic is Horrible” or use thumbnails featuring a guy facepalming or a My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic original character getting mad, it makes me want to watch the videos even less because…

•Whenever I see a YouTube video of someone ranting on something that gained internet infamy, like a very famous YouTube/internet personality or a recently released/cancelled mainstream children’s cartoon on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network or Disney XD (with a few exceptions), they usually tend to be more closed minded and rant non stop about how everything about the subject is bad without attempting to see if there’s any redeeming factors or silver lining, and not dig deep into what has happened behind the scenes.

•Even if the video is open minded like I wanted it to be, I still have trouble finding the urge to watch it because I don’t want my recommended section on YouTube to be flooded with similar videos.

Not to mention, people tend to blame Doug for everything single tiny detail that went wrong with Channel Awesome, when really Mike Michaud, and too a lesser extent, Doug’s brother Rob, are the puppet masters, feeding into Doug’s ego more and more. I do agree that Doug is not completely blameless, but when a rant was recently released on a review that came out 3 years ago (Jurassic World) and how almost every rant video is on a post-Demo Reel review, I seriously can’t help but feel that people are jumping on the #changethechannel bandwagon just to rant on how bad the Nostalgia Critic’s show has become. (I do admit however that it’s very understandable when one of their reasons is that it puts too much emphasis on spoofing the movie being reviewed, and not enough on reviewing it.) It starting to look less like #changethechannel and more like #makenostalgiacriticgoodagain.

    1. I simply lost interest after his reviews became nothing more than 30+ minute skits and he mainly reviews newer movies now instead of movies from the 80s and 90s.

One thing that surprises me to this day is how much he praises the first Michael bay transformers movie, which IMO is the most god awful movie in existence.

      Delete
    2. Disclaimer: I’m not suggesting that any of the transformer movies are actually good (although the third one did have some merit), but I thought the first one was so bad that it made the sequels look decent in comparison.

    3. I would not say that they are hopping on the #ChangeTheChannel bandwagon as that died down pretty quickly. I do believe a number of smaller YouTubers took the opportunity to criticize Channel Awesome to boost their own view and subscriber counts. That has been a thing on YouTube since the beginning and it will continue to happen as more and more big YouTubers do stupid things.

As for Doug, he, Rob and Mike are the upper management of CA so Doug ceetainly shoulders some of the blame for the company's missteps.

I used to really enjoy Nostalgia Critic but stopped watching a few years ago. His reviees became so long and padded with skits.

    4. What I’m trying to say is that people should be more open minded whenever they talk about internet famous people. They need to find a silver lining and see if there’s anything positive they can say about the subject in question. I actually snickered a bit at his Eggo waffles sketch in one of his commercials specials. Also, according to Tv Tropes.com, there’s actually a group of people who don’t mind the skits. I’m not saying you guys are wrong, it’s just a lot of people nowadays get so passionately angry that they’re just so blinded by hatred that they almost completely fail to see what makes the subject in question successful in the first place. That’s why I hate that the cartoon community is filled with childish Teen Titans Go! rants and “cringe” compilations of internet memes being referenced in children’s shows,(Okay maybe the latter is completely justified.) and why I love RebelTaxi and SaberSparx. Those two channels keep an open mind and try to find the positives in the subject or at least see if there’s any justification for why something is so bad. That’s what a review is in my opinion. There’s people out there who might actually find the skits hilarious, so maybe that’s why Doug does it. I don’t know, I just want people be more thoughtful.

      Delete
    5. I really don't give a shit about Doug or most of the former Channel Awesome roster.

      Delete
    6. Well, no. Nobody "needs" to do anything - let alone act the way we think they should. Part of the price of putting oneself out there and gaining even a small amount of recognition on the internet is getting attention from a community that does not particularly like you. That is true of any celebrity from Shane Dawson to Logan Paul and even political figures.

If you are going to become upset or annoyed at negative attacks on someone you enjoy watching then the years ahead will be very unhappy for you. Those people are not interested in silver linings or finding positive things to say.

My best advice to you is to simply let it go. Your enjoyment of anyone's work should not be impacted by the opinions of others.

    7. @Edge XL I guess you’re right, let’s end this discussion right there.

      Delete
    8. I said I was going to end the discussion, but I forgot to add something that left me. That’s a bad habit I have, when every time we finish an argument, something new pops into my head that I wish I brought up. I’m not saying I still enjoy Doug’s videos. I used to, yes, but the thing is, part of me still wants to watch them. But the controversy and how he became a scapegoat creator just for being the face of Channel Awesome is making me question the ability to do so. My parents, who I think are very out of touch with internet phenomena, have always asked me to keep an open mind, and I get the feeling that others are being straight up fanboys.

What also factored into my displeasure is how very few of the people who talked about the topic where ones I consistently followed before. Most of the ones that do, I barely even heard of, so it brings me great discomfort. I said I didn’t want to watch because I don’t want my YouTube Recomended page flooding with similar videos. I know that a lot of people think negativity brings them views, but if the news they report on certain topics is constantly positive, they might end up getting pretty much the exact same amount of views. Just look at GameXplain.

I also tend to get bothered by the topics themselves they choose to talk about. It’s always gonna be about Internet/YouTube celebrities, video games made by Nintendo or other companies popularized by Nintendo, or too a lesser extent, children’s cartoons that are recently released, currently running, or recently canceled, mostly those on Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network, with a few on Disney XD. The Nostalgia Critic falls into the first category. I’m just sick of seeing videos talking about those three topics, when sometimes I want something on a live action film from the 20th century or a licensed game from the 2000s to today, or hell, anything else. With that all of that mindless rambling out of the way, I’m done. I don’t know how else to say it, but I’m done.

"My parents, who I think are very out of touch with internet phenomena, have always asked me to keep an open mind"

Regardless, I'd say your parents have a good point there, Anonymous. The fact is, we hardly know anything about the people behind CA personally and what they're like off-camera and off-social media, same goes with all their ex-contributors. So it's hard to determine who really is in the wrong and who isn't.

For me, I'm still treating both sides as suspect when it comes to the #ChangeTheChannel controversy, which I'm astonished to see has died down quicker than I thought. I find it sad that many young fans are gullible enough to believe anything being said on whatever side without any concrete evidence. And no, the accounts by the ex-contributors could have had ANYTHING written on them and make us assume to believe it all. Though I won't dismiss them, I do sometimes find them questionable.

So really, I'm still giving this the huge benefit of the doubt. I know I've said that before, but I feel it needs to be repeated again.

    4. @ComedyRoom10

Family absolutely must come first; I completely agree with that. However, I don't buy that the slow pace of Chris Neo is due to family obligations. Not when Chris has time to post 31 Puppet Steve videos and 3 Zombie Steve videos in the weeks after the Atari Art book video.

I can even understand why Chris favors Puppet Steve. If he would simply tell his IG fans on Facebook that he has this other Puppet Steve channel and that is more lucrative so that is where Chris needs to focus then I could completely understand it. He does not do that though; he lets his IG fans think Chris is simply swamped with the burdens of fatherhood and that is just dishonest.

    5. Not to mention any comments related to Puppet Steve on his FB or Chris Neo channel get deleted.

    6. I wouldn't say not mentioning Puppet Steve is dishonest. I too find it weird that he doesn't mention Puppet Steve, but maybe he just doesn't want to promote it to his IG fans. Let's be honest, Chris's YouTube career has been at the least a hobby and at the most an easy way for him to make a few extra bucks. Although, his paranormal videos and Irate the 80's actually shows what his capable of doing when he researches and puts love into it.

If you've been wondering why my paranormal website has been offline for so long, well we've been sifting through the code and I just found out it was hacked. The timing of this event seemed to have occured after I called out the celebs in the paranormal field for suppressing my new methods. So this is how it is eh? One has to have alot of insecurities if you feel you need to try and silence my work this way. A big special thanks to the fans that keep tweeting and tagging these paranormal celebs of my existence and pushing my work on them. I've met them all and gauged their reactions to me and my research and I can tell it annoys them to no end that I broke down their entire western ghost hunting approach through a pyschological mindset and pasted it back together in a way that they cannot duplicate so easily. And you'll be happy to know, I've made a huge breakthrough this summer with investigating that I haven't even made public. Very exciting stuff that I even can't talk about yet since I'm still breaking down all the nuiances. Thank you for your continued support.

Why must Chris resort to these delusions. Does he think the ghost hunters took down chrisbores.com as well?

    3. Gentlemen and ladies in the lucrative ghost hunting field, we have a new and dire threat in our midst: the brilliant young upstart “Chris Bores.” While our work over the past two decades has been adequate and earned us untold millions, he has used the Tibetan Book of the Dead, the Egyptian Book of the Dead and things like psychology to take our field to unprecedented new levels- levels that make our work look like the delusional rambling of idiots with not enough friends. If his work is allowed to succeed, he could unlock the puzzle of whether being alive is the same as being dead and release such arcane secrets to the public. As all the ghosts at the Collingwood Arts Center are already in his camp, it is imperative that we come at him with everything we’ve got. You! Research hacking methods and go after his website. You, contrive a way to ruin breakfast. And the rest of you, find a way to attack him through Five Nights at Freddy’s construction sets- they are obviously key to all this or he wouldn’t spend so much goddamn time opening and talking about them. We must strike now, while he is so busy with family that he only has time to enter five or ten letters a month into Game Genie. Go now! He may already have gotten a faint flickering effect from his stud finder in the basement of the Sandusky Elks Lodge.
