Threatening to Quit "Geekdom" Over... Watchmen?!

I did not expect to have a new post soon. No, there's no GeekTime and Puppet Steve hasn't done any video games. Though he has done videos on Muppet Babies, Glow-in-the-Dark FNAF, and... Sonic cereal? Blue cereal? That's disgusting. Sorry, getting off-topic.
No, instead he posted something really stupid on Facebook. Talking about the new HBO series adapting Watchmen. Before on GeekTime, he complained that the show was using White Supremacists as villains and felt that would alienate white comic book fans. Chris let the mask slip a little. How long until we get an angry cartoony rant where he screams about how the Jews and blacks should worship him?

He finally got around to watching it and posted his thoughts on Facebook. Full disclosure, I haven't seen it yet because I don't have HBO. Perhaps if it's on HBO Max, I'll get around to it.

I will give credit for not bringing up the villainous White Supremacists. However, holy shit at this hyperbolic reaction!
You hated it so much you want to quit all "pop culture" in general? That makes no sense! That means giving up your precious Marvel movies, your Star Wars, giving up video games which you clearly didn't care about in the first place, but that means giving up FNAF and all that shit you talk about on Puppet Steve. You can't just declare you're giving up on "pop culture", that's an idiotic statement.

Giving up on GeekTime though... hmm perhaps this is a smokescreen for dropping another failed project of yours? Fans still aren't receptive to it. In fact, he's lost over 1000 YouTube subscribers since he started posting excerpts. Not like the views are much better either. A few days ago he posted a 43-minute excerpt from Episode 5, talking about their Top 5 Halloween Movies & TV shows. Barely over 700 views.

Really makes me wonder what was in the Watchmen TV show that made Chris so upset. He doesn't go into detail other than "boring" and "confused". Most reception I've seen has been really positive.

Wait, a disgrace to Alan Moore fans? You never read the original comic. That was clear from your review of the movie back in 2009 (holy crap it's been 10 years). Okay, to be fair, he may have read the comic in that time gap. Besides, Alan Moore fans are used to getting screwed over. Constantine, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, Doomsday Clock.

Anyone that's seen the show let me know what issues he could possibly have? It could be the White Supremacists and he doesn't want to say it knowing he could get in a lot of trouble (though that didn't stop him on GeekTime), but maybe there's something else.

  1. I have not seen the show but I found Chris' comment to be hilarious. Keep in mind that back in 2009 he said that if he was the director he would have put the whole story in chronological order.

  2. He capitalizes "Pop Culture" the same way he does "Geektime." Could it be the name of a project we don't know about?

    1. I wouldn't read too much into that. Over the years Chris has incorrectly used capital letters many times.

  3. I saw this in a comment on one of Chris' GeekTime videos saying "Chris Bores does not care about his fans." That could be true because if he gave a shit about his fans he'd still be doing Irate Gamer videos.

  4. Let's pretend we live in a world where Chris finished his History of Video Games series. How would the segments have played out for these following consoles?

    -NES
    -Sega Genesis
    -Colecovision
    -Virtual Boy
    -Nintendo 64
    -Playstation 2
    -Wii
    -Xbox
    -Sega Master System
    -Atari 7800
    -Super Nintendo

    1. "The best thing about Virtual Boy is that you can see the game popping right out at you in 3-D, instead of a stupid flat game nobody likes like Earthbound! That's why this was Nintendo's best-selling console and the perfect successor to the Oculus Rift."

    2. Don't forget that the Sega Genesis was released to compete with the SNES.

    3. @DoubleEdgedSword2 Also let's not forget that "someone else" reviewed the Virtual Boy and the Colecovision. For the NES I can picture him making an inaccurate claim that the NES was packaged with Super Mario Bros and with the Nintendo 64 he'd say the camera angle gives him vertigo.

@Harrod Especially since Earthbound is a masterpiece and is one of my favorite games ever. Thank god we're never gonna see a him rip the game apart. He'd probably make it to Mondo Mole and quit because there are no cheat codes.

  5. Do people really use the word "geek" that much? I thinking he is using geek/geeky cuz nerd/nerdy would associate him too much w/ that other guy

  6. This is a little off topic but I showed one of my co workers GeekTime and he was surprised of how bad it was. I also showed him IG videos as well as the Third Rate Gamer and ICBINDLA videos. He loves the TRG videos and the "Therefore It's The Game's Fault I Suck At It" bit from ICBINDLA.

  7. Hey! Let's imagine something? What are the odds that at some point in the future, Chris is going to take down The Rise and Fall of The Irate Gamer and what are the odds that Chris has seen it? I'm asking this knowing how that video overtakes Chris's content when searching "Irate Gamer."

    1. He's probably seen it, but since he has such an ego, he probably dismissed it.

    2. I have a feeling Chris has seen it because like I said, it's one of the first results and overtakes Chris' content when you search "Irate Gamer." I've gotten comments on that video (which were likely by Chris) that AVGN ripped off Irate Gamer. I currently have another rise and Fall video that I've been working on for the past few days in the editing process. It's on Billy Mitchell and I'm hoping that can get the same support the Irate Gamer one did.

  8. I just made a follow up to The Rise and Fall of The Irate Gamer. It's called The Rise and Fall of Billy Mitchell. I had a lot of fun making this one so I'm hoping it can get the same feedback The Rise and Fall of The Irate Gamer did. Also if you guys in this blog have any Rise and Fall ideas I'd love to see them in the replies.

    3. How about the Atari 2600, from its blockbuster 1977 release up to the crash of 1983?

The Coleco Chameleon and Ataribox might have videos in them. Their stories are pretty much all "fall," but they're tales of malfeasance and bad decisions that fuel videos like these.

Peter Molyneux's star has fallen a lot.

PewDiePie, if you think he's fallen far enough.

Maybe the story of how the hell "Big Rigs" made it into stores.

    4. @DoubleEdgedSword2 I have a hit list of potential targets and Channel Awesome is on it.

@Harrod The Atari 2600 would be an awesome idea and it would basically be about the infamous 1983 crash.

@Gary Sargent I don't think JewWario would work because the only way he fell was that he took his own life. If the target fell in the most direct way possible, then I wouldn't do it.

  10. You know, I honestly don't buy into any rumors that Chris is autistic. I think he more likely has ADHD or Asperger's Syndrome. I know people that are autistic and they aren't like Chris.

  11. I think I'm gonna do a year by year breakdown of bores/ig and call it "The Irate gamer Years: A Dorkumentary" or does Dorkumentary sound better?

  16. The three-week cycle between Geektime episodes is now broken. Not a big surprise since he's talked about cutting back to a month between or quitting altogether, but there you go.

  17. I just discovered that my reaction video to Chris's Joker Clip is the first result when you search "GeekTime The Next Generation." Do any of you think I can be a potential target that Chris (or LadyBuggin) will try to blame for the failure of GeekTime?

  22. This is such a common occurrence with Chris and his projects. He starts off with a consistent content push and then begins taking a very long time to put out anything new and ultimately quits. Irate Gamer. History of Video Games. Irate the 80s. Zombie Steve channel. Alphabet Bunch. All of these are dead now and his most successful project ever, Puppet Steve, is the outlier. (I could add tech reviews and Box Wars but those were shill efforts to finance Puppet Steve).

  23. I know Radio White Base doesn't like to talk about the ICBINAVGN videos but I was just thinking about the moment where Chris said "Back in the early 1990's, Sega Released a gaming console called the Sega Genesis to compete with Nintendo's gaming console called the Super Nintendo" and Robotnik said "NO." I think that was the funniest moment in that entire series? What were some of your funniest moments in ICBINAVGN?

  24. Chris is ranting on Facebook about paranormal TV shows again. He claims the stars of these current shows are not educated enough and is calling for one of them to bring in a "ghost behaviorist". Coincidentally, Chris has claimed before that he is the world's first ghost behaviorist.

    1. === I love that the paranormal genre is coming back full throttle to TV this year. Bravo! But can we do better than show upon show being greenlit with either A.) a ghost hunter from a previous ghost hunting show that will perform the exact same in 2009, or B) the newbie that wants to prove the paranormal world exists. This seems to be the biggest formula networks are using right now. But it's not 2010 anymore and people are demanding more from this genre. You can't have ghost hunters from the "Jumpscare Paranormal" age trying to be the ones ushering in the "deeper paranormal" brand of show. It doesn't work because they aren't educated enough. Grant Wilson is at least attempting to do this, but it's maddening to watch him contradict himself almost weekly in the process. Grant, come on, you cannot have a residual haunting if you interact with it! Here's hoping a ghost behaviorist will be called upon soon... ===

    1. I don't know YouTube's economy- is Puppet Steve a viable career for a guy who appears to have a house in the suburbs? And is that all from views, or are toy companies giving him kickbacks (other than free toys) for the advertising?

      Delete
    2. Chris also refuses to do services like Patreon and Twitch and thinks the ad revenue will come in. What he fails to realize is that the only way you can make a living on YouTube through ads in 2019 is that you have to be one of the big channels. You have to be Pewdiepie or Mr Beast. Trust me I know what I'm talking about because my channel is eligable for ad revenue and even though I get 10,000 views a month I don't earn anywhere close to enough money so that's why I have to find other ways to make money.
