You know, it's been a while since Chris posted an I Rate the 80's video. Last one was about Uncle O'Grimacey back in March, and that was technically an "I Rate the 70's".
Let's check his site and see what happened.
iratethe80s.com
What's that? You clicked the link and were redirected right here? How strange!
Actually, here's what happened. Chris, being the punctual man that he is, let the iratethe80s domain name expire. So Uatu the Watcher swooped in and grabbed the name, now it redirects here.
The best part? Chris doesn't know yet (he will soon since I know he reads this), and the links are still all over his YouTube channel. Under the "About" page, and in the descriptions of all the I Rate the 80's videos. Chris, what the hell are you doing?
This makes me wonder if I Rate the 80's is yet another dead series. Just like the Breakfast Rants (which became I Rate the 80's) and Chris & Scottie Road Trip (remember that he had a website for it).
What I find strange is that he abandoned this series instead of the ghost hunting or History of Video Games. This series seemed to be the most "well-received" (and I'm using that lightly). People that didn't like his game reviews claimed that the 80's videos weren't that bad. Even Shawn McMahon over at TotalActionAdventure considers I Rate the 80's to be the "least awful" series Bores has done. Because Bores at least showed some genuine interest in what he was talking about. Sure the videos were plagued with the same problems as his game reviews, but they didn't feel as phony.
Speaking of History of Video Games, my Facebook informant noted that Chris said he'll be "focusing on a few episodes in 2014" after he finishes up some other projects. Give it up Chris, the series was always a bad idea and it still is a bad idea. Why do you insist on continuing it?
Also, a few episodes huh? That probably means one.
Has he still not posted any new videos? God damn.
Going to irateentertainment and clicking his iratethe80s picture link takes me right here. lol
ReplyDeleteThis is the best thing. I'm seriously laughing my head off over here! Well done, Uatu!
ReplyDeleteWell, if he isn't interested in re-upping his domain name, then it's fair game!
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of that story about the computer programmer who'd gotten a false traffic ticket and went to the police department's website only to discover they hadn't renewed their site domain, so he bought it and wrote an expose on how the police wrongfuly used speed checkers, cameras, and the like to gain more profit, and how to avoid them.
DeleteIn this case, there's now a link to this site from Chris' own page so people can discover what kind of person he really is.
But unfortunately, it could also be a place for Bores' 10-12 year old fanboys to pull out the "cyberbully" card in response to these articles and accuse us of being "meanies" to him...
DeleteOn the positive side, though, this could also be a way for people to discover how much of an asswipe Chris has been since he first came to the Internet. ;-)
Oh, this is brilliant!
ReplyDeleteSee how not paying attention to seemingly minor details can bite you in the ass, Chris?
I'm not completely sure how domain names work (HOW DO I CPU), but from what I understand, as long as someone else owns a name, iratethe80s.com can never be fixed by Bores himself. Chris would have to take the time and effort to create a completely different website for "Irate the 80s", then change every last one of the original links on his YouTube channel so they go to the new site.
ReplyDelete...We'll be stuck to his account forever.
Even to open a claim to dispute the domain cost $1000, with little chance of success.
DeleteMaybe you could voluntarily redirect the domain back to his site on the condition that he makes iRate the 80's his primary focus?
Or ask him to admit to all his wrong-doings over the years, but we both know neither of those will happen because he's bull-headedly stubborn.
DeleteHere's my negotiations:
DeleteIrate Gamer Show - at least one video every two months
Irate Gamer Neo - at least one video every two weeks (If what he's seen at E3 is any indication, he has enough material to work with)
History of Video Games - at least one video every four months
Irate the 80s - at least one video every month
Skylanders - one-video-limit per month (he doesn't need to make one vlog for every piece of Skylanders merchandise that's released; just a monthly round-up would suffice)
Bores, either treat your YouTube channel like it's your job, or admit that you're just not interested anymore and quit entirely. If there's one thing I could never stand about you (even when I was a fan), it's your ludicrously pathetic schedule slip!
There are even some links he can't change. At the end of his I rate the 80s videos, it actually displays www.iratethe80s.com on the screen. It's stuck forever!
DeleteThat can be removed using Youtube's inbuildt video-editor.
Delete@Atlas
DeleteNot to be rude, but let's not give Bores hints. I think it'd be better if his fans found out the truth
@JJ - That is actually a reasonable schedule. Makes me wonder why he isn't producing anything near that rate.
DeleteHahahahaah
ReplyDeleteIratethe80s.com redirects here?
Fucking brilliant.
You know what this reminds me of?
ReplyDeleteShortly after the Boston Marathon bombing, someone bought up the domain bostonmarathonconspiracy.com, and made it a single page saying "I bought this domain so some conspiracy kook wouldn't get it" and providing a Red Cross donation link.
This is nearly as brilliant.

Deletesorry for double posting, but that is pure genius :)
DeleteLmao this is hilarious. Wonder how Bores is going to react?
ReplyDeleteHave no idea, but when we do see his reaction, whether it be via video or text, the results will be more gold than Elvis' records... :-)
DeleteChris Bores probably would have done something, but he broke his arm buttering a slice of toast and well.... the toast fell butter-side down so he's on devil alert.
DeleteFunny. I thought the rule was "jelly side down"...
DeleteAt any rate, I HIGHLY doubt Bores will give his thoughts about this to the public. If how he reacted to his PotP 'success' is anything to go by, he will NEVER admit to any sort of failure on his part.
"Give it up Chris, the series was always a bad idea and it still is a bad idea. "
ReplyDeleteI think that we have past this point. if this was about bad ideas, he would have give up of everything a long time ago.
He's hours away from the one-month mark since posting his last video (Sonic Lost World). Heck of a way to close out 'his' year.
ReplyDeleteI actually would not be surprised if the last few failures have piled up in his mind and he's coping with depression at the moment. He's certainly not ending the year as optimistically as he started it.

ReplyDeleteWow, what?!?
Ha ha, I was just about to post a link to that. It's the latest episode of Game Theory, in which a guy by the name of MatPat takes a scientific look at both the mechanics of game worlds and even character identification.
DeleteIn this episode, he talks about how the Nerd (as in the character, not James) might be loose a few screws. This show is actually really good, highly recommended viewing!
And of course, there's a dig at Bores in there.
My favorite game theory was the one on sonic's speed. Wario is ten feet tall!
DeleteI think my favorite would have to be a cross between the Aeris episode and the "Link is dead in Majora's Mask" episode. Both of those are REALLY good, and the Zelda episode has Peanut Butter Gamer in it, who is also an enjoyable Internet reviewer.
Delete"Peanut Butter Gamer in it, who is also an enjoyable Internet reviewer." He really is. I think his review of Faces of Evil was probably his best one yet. I'd love to see his overall thoughts on Super Adventure Island 2. I know he indicated in other videos he doesn't care for it, or at the very least, he doesn't care for the dialogue and the fact that Higgins uses swords in the game, but I'd love to see a detailed review about what he thought worked in that game and what he thought DIDN'T work.

ReplyDeleteI'm not sure if anybody's noticed this yet, but on irateentertainment.com the "Irate the 80's" picture now links to theirategamer.com rather than here. Which is idiotic since that's where The Irate Gamer picture links too...
ReplyDeleteOh, good ol' Bores. Always taking the lazy way out of things. Hey! While we're at it, why not turn the entire irateentertainment.com page into a redirect for theirategamer.com? Clearly, not even his fans want the OTHER working link anymore!
DeleteHey Chris... you missed one, buddy.
DeleteWhat a shock. Jonathan is even stupider than I thought.

I've said this before, and I'll say this again. IG Haters are called Nazis because there's no compromising with them.
Correct me if I am wrong but didn't buggin say the nazi part? Oh and why the hell should we compromise with you when you literally just used godwin's law on us.
So anyone who refuses to work out their differences is a Nazi. Considering that most of us have accepted that there will always be rabid fanboys for any work, I wonder what that makes fake batdamn here?

ReplyDelete(15 seconds in) Wait. Bores is a DAD?!?!?!?
Hmm. I guess he wasn't lying about the girlfriend and her kids. Not trying to sound mean there, I was just having doubts from knowing about Bores's track record.
DeleteIn this season of giving, I have to say that this may be his most technically proficient work to date, and I find myself glad that he hasn't been mired in depression (I've been there).
