As you know, it's been three months since Bores posted the "story arc" finale. A lot of his fans thought that this was the end. Bores clarified that it was "only on break".
On Facebook, he said that it's "not in the schedule" as he does other things.
Well apparently, both of those were lies as his biography tells a different story! Thanks to Neptunia Gamer for finding this out.
http://www.irateentertainment.com/bio.htm
The last passage is all new.
By 2014, Chris has become a popular interviewer covering video game events like E3, turned theirategamer.com into a pop culture news site, and released a groundbreaking documentary called “Pursuit of the Paranormal” where a 90 minute conversation with a spirit was obtained.
So we're just pretending all those other interviews didn't happen? Also, the only video game event you cover is E3, don't claim you cover "events" plural. No, a Skylanders reveal doesn't count, that's just ONE game.
"Pop culture news site" A new site that cares less about news and more about random bullshit Chris finds.
Oh look, the "90 minute conversation" claim again. Quit claiming that when the movie itself is only 54 minutes long!
Currently, Chris has retired the Irate Gamer Show and spends his spare time working on further episodes of History of Video Games, Irate the 80’s and decoding the afterlife through his Pursuit of the Paranormal Case Study.
There it is. He has "retired" the Irate Gamer Show. Right there, clear as crystal, signed, sealed and delivered!
There is a positive. It means less shit from him. But the negatives far outweigh the positives. His already dwindling fanbase is going to plummet into negative numbers, most of his fans only care for the retro reviews so to hear that he's abandoning them only hastens his internet death.
Sure, he has more 80s videos planned, and I know some consider them "tolerable". But let's be real, the annoying sketches, stupid obscure references, and blatant research failure only make it look worse.
And I love how he claims he's doing more History of Video Games. GIVE IT UP CHRIS! Nobody believes you're an expert! Especially the way you suck Activision's dick for a toy based game. Hell, reading your blog shows you care more for toys than you do video games. Why should people believe you?
Speaking of Skylanders, funny how his biography completely neglects to mention that. Hmmmmm.
Either way, if his "retirement" is true, I can only foresee a swift demise. Any possible money won't be enough to recuperate the time taken.
I know his fans read this blog. I know they will be angry once this gets posted. Whatever happens... *sits back* I'll be watching.

ReplyDeleteMaybe one of us could start a "PewDiePie Sucks" blog.
DeleteOr a DarkSydePhil Sucks blog even?
DeleteI'd like to see that. He's even worse than Bores.
Delete(I wonder what DSP thinks of Bores, what would happen if he said anything to him?)
What about an Anita Sarkeesian suck blog
Delete@Dukenukem3Do
DeleteHas she done anything recently?
well she recently made her 5th video and was on a gaymerx2 panel
DeleteHis fanbase gonna shit bricks. IG Show was the only thing keeping him alive on YouTube. Without it there's gonna be an endless flood of Skylanders, HOVG once per year (or two lol) and Irate the 80's once per 3 months. Absolutely nothing to justify the subscription. Your chips are down Mr. Bores.
ReplyDeleteyeah very true this is a big low point for his channel
DeleteI believe he's trying to do that family guy joke where peter keeps saying hit me every after he busts. Might as well end on plagiarism right?
DeleteDoes anyone here want to break the news to his fans?
DeleteI don't buy it. He's just trying to set up some big "comeback" video.
ReplyDeleteBores is not clever enough for that and he has to put effort in building it up. So I don't think so.
Deleteyeah i agree this further proof that all he cares about is skylanders
DeleteYou are giving him too much credit. If it was "part of the plan" he would do something more spectacular and spoil the plot, like he did in that April Fools vid for Asa. He would also telegraph it weeks ago.
Deletei also find it funny that in the bio he claims he is the second most popular game reviewer on youtube hahahaha yeah right
ReplyDeleteBores mangles the language so badly that to him "retired" might just mean he's not currently making any IG videos.
ReplyDeleteBut as long as he's making videos, this blog has its reason to exist. Qualitatively, IG/HOVG is apples/oranges.
Wow! I had just posted on the previous thread that I don't see him going on with his flagship show much longer because of the downward spiral he has caused. I guess you could say that Bores could always pull IG out of retirement but honestly- nobody will care. His fanbase will move on.
ReplyDeleteIt is just kind of funny that after claiming 2013 will be his year he has now retired his flagship show. I understand that IG was not paying the bills but damn...
Oh, my lord. If it is really happening... *fingers crossed*
ReplyDelete...then I'll be really happy. Though I'll miss the fun of this blog.
BTW, who is the "2nd-most watched" game reviewer on YouTube right now? Probably not Bores these days. (#1 I'm guessing is James Rolfe, but I could be wrong.)
Behind James Rolfe, it's clearly Angry Joe. He may have been right in 2007 but not here.
DeleteI don't know. Jontron seems more up that ally.
DeleteIf he is, I wasn't looking that hard. Am I the only one who feels JonTron's a bit hit or miss?
DeleteTo me it seems that JonTron plays for an hour before making the review. However he possesses a lot of charisma so I don't hold it against him.
DeleteI had a feeling for a long time about this, now it's finally happened. Even I was hard-pressed to mine anything for parody in his newer videos. Far cry from "Bores in Doors". As for this Dark Side Phil-HELLO new target practice! I had quite a bit of enjoyment from DLAboaqu's riff of his "attempt" at Mega Man 1; and he is also gaining quite a bit of detriment from other people in the community (I gather other Let's Players don't think highly of him either. Now, neither do I.).
ReplyDeleteI remember Mat and Pat made some comments on DSP on one of their videos a while back.
DeleteSpeaking of parodies, if you want to see a good NAVGTR parody, search for "Gaming in the Obama Years".
DeleteChris also quit allowing people to write on his FB timeline. This could be due to: 1. He finally realized that us haters read his Facebook timeline, and didn't want that to be a problem. 2. He realized that his fans who did write on it were trying to knock some sense into him without actually just flat out saying what was wrong with him (yes, his fans have been doing that), and he just didn't want to spit out any truth (typical for Bores). Or 3: Bores just really doesn't care about his fans and he no longer cares about having any interactions with them.. No matter what the case is, Chris clearly doesn't care for his fans. Some of his biggest fans are just trying to support him and help his channel survive, but Chris is just so far deep in his "bubbe"............. Fuck you Bores, you will never learn....
ReplyDeleteIn fact, BatDan, if you read this comment (please do), that really should be on the year's worst IG moments. The fact that Chris showed a ton of disrespect to even his biggest fans who are just trying to give him a hand..... To the rest of the people reading this, I know I seem to talk about this a lot, but it really does bother me. Its 1 of the things that I hate Bores the most for (the others being laziness, disrespect towards JewWario/gaming community, and stolen scripts.
ReplyDeleteIncidentally, the AVGN movie premieres tonight at 7 Pacific Time, at Grauman's Egyptian Theatre in freaking Hollywood. Let us drink a toast to James, and maybe go a little easy on Chris as tonight may be tough on him.
ReplyDeleteAnd edited: Chris Bores (character) last appearance in the power rangers review
ReplyDeletehttp://irategamerdoesnotsuck.wikia.com/wiki/Chris_Bores_%28character%29
I don't think Chris has retired the Irate Gamer.
ReplyDeleteI think it's more likely that he doesn't understand the difference between 'Retire' and 'On-hiatus'.
He probably put the word Retire to sound more professional.
Holy shit, Ground pounders has just left early access (essentially its a ground combat spin-off of sword of the stars). First xenonauts now this? Wow this must be year of early access games or at least the summer of them.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteAny chance of reconsidering finishing out the Redux Recaps since Irate Gamer is no more?
ReplyDeleteI thought we were going to get guest writers...
DeleteI'd be willing to contribute to the Home Improvement one, since that was the first one I did the drinking game on (the conditions were met around 3 minutes in with my Mountain Dew Throwback). The first appearance of "Wilkins," so as to not offend whoever owns the rights to the show right now. I'm still trying to fathom how one could make a game of Home Improvement; given how a typical episode doesn't lend too much to games. It's like they took that game intro to the show and just threw everything into what's one of the many instances of the problem with licensed games.
DeleteI said earlier in the previous blog that I was interested, more specifically his Neo review on Order Up!, though it's possible there's more potentially good candidates.
DeleteSaraba, Boring Man.
ReplyDeleteStill wishing I had an idea what to cover on my blog next...
(I hope I'm not Game Duding by typing this...)
And are you planning to do more of "I Can't Believe It's Not AVGN"? I still wish you could trash rmbrettt's reviews-- in particular, that of Batman: Arkham City (the PS3 version, since it's what he looked at).
DeleteAlso wonder if your reviews that were on Blip will now be on YouTube again (considering your account got terminated due to lack of views, which makes me REALLY hate Blip now)?
He did some on DSPGaming.
DeleteI did see that. Meant to say after he trashed DSP's Mega Man I playthrough.
DeleteSomehow the game in this video has more work put into it then the irate gamer show or the irate gamer game... and that's including the plagiarism.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3c50T89W0xY
Deleteoops forgot to paste the video
I'm kind of curious as to what this could mean for his deal with GotGame. I mean, the IG thing is what got him the deal in the first place, and unless I'm mistaken it's not like his other videos are featured on that site. Without IG, all he'll have is Skylanders, I RT80s, and HoVG... and look where those have gotten him.
ReplyDeleteThat, combined with the fact it's GotGame that keep his website running... well, whatever happens next, it'll be interesting.
Well, who even is GotGame? They don't even have a Wikipedia page. Unless I'm badly misreading the situation, they seem like a group of guys hoping to be the next IGN or Destructoid or whatever, and getting picky about contributors is probably something they can't afford to do. For an imitation-popular-site like theirs, the mere appearance of a fat roster of talent is the kind of thing that they want to cultivate.
Delete"Pop culture news site" A new site that cares less about news and more about random bullshit Chris finds."
ReplyDeleteCouldn't have said it better myself (although some of the "random bullshit" he references is kind of cool albeit very obscure).
I'd be interested in doing a Redux Review, I'm a sucker for shit episodes, and I remember watching his shit years ago.
ReplyDeleteOddly enough, Bores's subscriber count has only been going up. Sure its by only like 10 subs per day, but there haven't been any plunges in his subscriber count. I wonder how long it will take for his fans to realize that the Irate Gamer show is no more.......
ReplyDeleteThe plunges usually only happen when he posts a new video.
DeleteWhat's the take on his view counts being way below the number of subscribers? Do abandoned accounts cause that, or people losing interest but neglecting to unsubscribe or what?
Delete3 reasons:
Delete1. From day one, Chris has been running sockpuppet accounts. There's really no telling how many of these accounts are dead inactive accounts that seem to be solely subscribed to his channel. I mean he's getting 10 subs a day... for doing literally nothing. That's pretty weird if you ask me.
2. People tend to subscribe just to keeps tabs on someone. A good deal of people are subscribed to see if he'll post a new irate gamer show episode or something equally reprehensible. Odds are people just want to know when the next craptastic episode is out but not actually want to watch said episode.
3. Youtube's subscriber count thing is kinda bullshit and its view counter isn't exactly great either. Of course this ties into reason 1 since Chris is only getting less than 10% of his subscriber count in views, meaning that there clearly is inflation in his subscriber count.
I agree with Kill's theory and have thought that as well. bores replenishes his subs to make it seem that he is still relevant to placate his vanity or is it possible that youtube pays a higher tier, the more subscribers he has?
DeleteGoogle runs YouTube. It can't be that easy to grift them. I don't know how partnership works, but I doubt a legion of Bores working together could earn a check gaming Google's own system. Certainly not for this long.
Delete@Harrod
DeleteWhat strikes me as odd is that Chris has over 100k subscribers when most people with his particular... "talents and work ethic" would be lucky to get 7k. The fact that this 100k+ subscribers have stayed the same for ages now is even more baffling.
Of course I believe youtube only pays by the view and uses subscribers as a measure of how many views you should be getting. Since Bores doesn't get that amount and 100k subscribers is shit compared to sponsored people, I don't think he's scamming you-tube.
A factor in the six-digit subscribers may be that he got in the game fairly early in YouTube's history, and got that front-page recommendation or whatever it was that gave him a truckload of high visibility. But why more users haven't managed their subscriptions and deleted him is beyond me.
DeleteA lot of people are just plain lazy. It could also be why he's spending less time doing his show because the gains are less then it use to be.
Delete@harrod If you check IG on socialblade you will see that in the month of may 2012 he had lost 11k subscribers but all the months that follow have either been positive or at less than 1k sub loss. The only exception is june 2014 onwards where he stopped giving a shit. It's either he has been gaining subs since 6/2012 that don't watch his videos at all since the view count is always declining or he is creating fake accounts. I agree that it is not revenue driven though, he just wants to save face.
DeleteHow does one create fake subs? Some software that creates email accounts and then signs them up on YouTube? I remain baffled that Google of all entities can't discover a hack like that, especially when its purpose is to defraud them.
DeleteThe bot thing works... but only until Google starts purging inactive accounts which would explain why we see such large subscriber losses. The 145k might just be a place holder for the subscribers lost to the unsubscribe bug way back when.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
Delete@harrod There are plenty of websites that allow you to make "instant emails" one of them being 10minutemail.com and it instantly gives you a temporary email address
DeleteI almost hate myself for saying this, but I'll be sad to see him gone, unless we do what itsmrben says and start a "Pewdiepie Sucks" blog.
ReplyDeleteIt obviously wouldn't be the same in a number of ways.
DeleteFor my part, I barely know about PewDiePie. What I've seen of him baffles the hell out of me as far as why he's YouTube's most subscribed channel. BUT, a very important distinction, that's not a form of hate- I trust there's something there that I'm not getting.
PDP is also apparently active in charity fundraising and whatnot- we'd look mean for that reason, and for the reason that making fun of foreigners is easy and on the dumb end of things.
Also, he's so successful, shouldn't there already be backlash movements in place?
Someone who knows more, weigh in.
Trust me. I've seen many videos of his, you'll still be baffled. Felix might be better than Chris, but that's like saying "oh you got past Level 10? you are a better Zombies Ate My Neighbors player than this guy ever will be."
DeleteIt's true, but it really isn't much of an achievement.
But what I really think is major bullshit from him is that 80% of his "jokes" are him screeching like he's been castrated at a chainsaw factory, 19% involve rape and variations of child abuse, and 1% (maybe) are honestly funny.
He stopped doing and apologised for those kinds of jokes years ago.
DeleteHis humour may be very hit-and-miss, but Pewdie is genuinely a nice person. And he's certainly a hell of a lot more charismatic than Chris ever was.
Terrible: I said before that I have no hate for PDP, but you've basically told us he's a better lay than Stephen Hawking.
DeleteCould you recommend a particularly good PewDiePie video to me, knowing only that I'm a big AVGN fan?
Well, I'll be honest, Felix is a lot better than Chris was, is, and ever will be. But given that Pewds is the only channel on Youtube that 1/2 of the people who have a Google+ account sub to, I don't see what's so awesome about him.
DeleteBut hey, anything to keep this community alive; any other youtubers we could criticize and make a whole multi-part blog about?
But a great Pewd video, has gotta be Cat Mario. Or I Wanna Be The Guy Gaiden, if you like AVGN-Style rage.
Anyone going to comment on Chris's Facebook post about he thinks all movies that came out this year suck, and by all movies he means movies based off of comic books and cartoons?
ReplyDeleteWell its not like Irate Gamer's movie was any better.
DeleteAnyone here seen the Avgn movie yet?
ReplyDeleteAugust 7, Boston. I'll report in afterwards if no one else does. Early buzz sounds good! James reported that the premiere audience was "applauding from start to finish, throughout the entire 1 hour, 55 minute running time of the movie."
DeleteNice seeing success go to someone who's earned it.
Very positive review here:
Deletehttp://nukethefridge.com/2014/07/23/first-look-angry-video-game-nerd-movie-review/
I think Bores might actually be 1/2 right when he says that his skylander vids get more views than his normal vids. His last irate gamer show episode which happened over 3 months ago, only has just over 26,000 views. Compare that to his skylander roster vids from 2 weeks back. The latest 1 has just over 45,000 views. But looking at his E3 skylander footage, most of them don't even have 10,000 views. So, maybe its the roster videos that Chris is talking about when he says that they get him more views. But with that being said, his fans are still tired of it.
ReplyDeleteQuoted from 1 of his FB fans: "The amount of views doesn't mean much when a majority of the people viewing the video don't like it."
But whats this? His roster videos have more likes than dislikes...... Maybe people like the videos where Chris is on screen talking rather than the vids where he just throws footage at them......... But that's just what I've observed. Maybe some of you guys can come up with better conclusions than I can
Even on the Skylanders stuff, Irate Gamer has some serious competition to face on YouTube. Doing a quick search there are a handful of Skylanders channels with many thousands of subscribers, all with good presentation and lots of content. One channel features a family whose kids are into the toys, who also do Skylanders related events, and even they are less awkward on camera than a grown (presumably single) manchild talking about them in his living room.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't be surprised if this is just another case of Boring Man displaying his limited vocabulary while attempting to sound smart. To this day he still seems to not understand the difference between a "review" and a "preview", after all. Though I suppose the last episode would be a suitably disappointing one to go out on...
ReplyDeleteHere I am, once again ignoring the point of the this blog to whore myself out again. This time I want to bring attention to a project a good friend of mine is working on. At the moment he's working on a live action series s for BEN Drowned. The problem is, the producer up and disappeared and now he has to rely on crowdfunding. Whatever can be spared is most appreciated https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmrOPn8YuI8
ReplyDeleteOh hey guys, you know when I said the vocals in metal gear rising sucked? Apparently it was because the vocal tracks I got in the ost were at very low volume (i.e not my speakers set at low volume but the song itself recorded at low amplification). After amplifying the songs using AVS audio editor, I was actually able to enjoy the songs.
ReplyDeleteCollective unconsciousness was my favorite.
Personally, I prefer It Has to be This Way and Stains of Time. The others don't stick in my head the way those two songs do.
DeleteUpdate from my Facebook informant.
ReplyDeleteApparently, Chris was part of a horror movie shoot. What movie? No name given. It supposedly comes out in 2015. Bores believes they "loved his acting chops" as he "got the most lines". I have trouble believing that... especially the part about his "acting". It was probably more of his ego (just like his call into the radio show).
He also posted a picture. A low quality photo in the dark with Bores and three others. Going by this, it looks like a really shitty found footage movie. Direct-to-DVD.
Funny how he trashed the Hunger Games a couple of years ago because of it being a found-footage movie... man, the hypocrisy train just keeps on chugging for Bores, doesn't it? XD
DeleteAt this point, it's par for the course. He's probably just an extra with one or two lines.
DeleteUh... Hunger Games isn't found footage.
DeleteHis criticism is that the camera was shaky.
If this movie ends up having shaky cam though, then yeah it's a bit hypocritical.
Calling it now that if the movie is real he will be the first one to get killed.
DeleteSounds to me like he's feeling a bit jealous about a certain nerd's film being a smashing success....
Delete@BatDanNight - Ah, okay. My apologies. Never really got into the Hunger Games, though, but maybe I'll have a different opinion one day.
DeletePerhaps I should've stated more clearly...
@Isolder74 - I need to start seeing the Nerd's movie one of these days! Hopefully when it comes out on DVD, Blu-Ray, or YouTube... especially hearing all the positive reviews it got, unlike Bores' piss-poor excuse of a "movie" and all the negative reviews it's gotten.
DeleteNow, I wonder what kind of awards James and Chris' movies will win or at least be nominated for, in our eyes?
I can only imagine, the killer stabs him and chris stares at the camera yelling " Holy fireballs of sheiiiitttt!"
ReplyDeletebonus points if its karma induced death.
DeleteI hope your proud of yourselves. Prepare for an angry fanbase
ReplyDeleteprepare for what? this article has been here for several weeks now. Anyone arguing for irate gamer is clearly doing so disingenuously.
ReplyDelete
