Sooo... how are you guys holding up? You doing alright?
Things have been quiet on Irate Ga- I mean "CB Network" front. Nothing has been posted since his Toledo Airport "ghost hunt" on Halloween. He's been surprisingly active on Facebook, posting awful political image macros that show his dependence on fake news (which has now become a real problem). As well as an edit of Excitebike's box art with Pee-wee Herman as he goes "HUR HUR ONLY 80'S KIDS WILL GET THIS". Fuck you Chris, it's bad enough when people do that "only 90's kids will get this" garbage, we don't need you doing it with the 80's! Also, Pee-wee's Big Adventure is not an obscure movie.
Puppet Steve on the other hand has been very active.
More FNAF, more Peppa Pig that he won't disclose is a brand deal, a Lego Star Wars video where he misspells Rogue One in the title and STILL HASN'T FIXED IT! The entire video is nothing but "ME BLOW THINGS UP ME FUNNY".
He actually did another Minecraft video. A video on the new Trolls movie (well, the toys related to it). The Lego Dimensions Fantastic Beasts Story Pack, but only the set. I think after we exposed his PSN account he's too scared to do more gameplay videos. Either that or he's lazy.
A video on Muppet toys which I imagine are old since the Muppets are essentially a dead franchise now (Most Wanted bombed, new TV show cancelled).
He does do an amiibo video... kind of. I want you to read this fucking video title. "Thanksgiving Christmas exclusive Boo Amiibo Skylanders jingle bell choppy mage chicken lego Unboxing"
What in the name of word salad word vomit is this garbage?
The video itself has him claim the Boo amiibo is Halloween related. It's not. It came out along the other six figures in Super Mario Wave 2. I think he wanted to talk about the Christmas themed Jingle Bell Chompy Mage Skylander but felt that wasn't enough content? I don't know, Chris' thought process is just baffling now.
He also makes some clear rookie mistakes involving Skylanders, like noting how his in-game apparance matches the toy. No shit. He also misspells the name in the title as "Choppy Mage" instead of Chompy. Looking it up, the Chompy Mage has been around since Giants, and the Chompy itself since the first game. Chris just seems to have trouble with the English language in general.
If you're wondering why Lego is mentioned, he wanted Lego Dimensions to do something Thanksgiving related and shows a mini-fig of a guy in a chicken suit unrelated to the game. Does Chris not understand that Dimensions relies entirely on licensed properties and holiday themed stuff would be difficult to do?
Speaking of Skylanders, reports are beginning to circulate that the series maybe done for. Imaginators sold poorly, the Netflix cartoon isn't getting many views, and they're having trouble moving the figures. This post on NeoGAF does a decent job explaining how it happened.
Basically, Activision got greedy. It happened with Guitar Hero, and it's likely going to happen with Skylanders. This only leaves Lego Dimensions to carry the Toys-to-Life mantle (and amiibo but they're more a multi-purpose tool at the moment, unless Nintendo has a big game planned for Switch).
Looks like Chris lost a major source of income if this ends up true. Granted, he can probably whore himself out to more and more FNAF and Jazwares crap.
Think we'll get something of substance in December? We will see.
I honestly don't think there's anything to talk about on the IG front, and I don't speculate there will be anytime soon.
ReplyDeleteI keep hoping they bring Mega Man back.
DeleteI keep hearing rumors about a new Mega Man game... to tie in with the new cartoon. Cause that went well with Sonic Boom.
DeleteI don't think a franchise as big as Mega Man will ever die out, even if Capcom vows to never make another Mega Man game again. It got so big that it developed a very strong and loyal fanbase. I only hope a final version of Megaman X Corrupted gets released.
DeleteSonic as least can do well in 3D, and I think the problem with the Sonic franchise is that it got so big that Sega felt the need to rush out a new Sonic game every year, most which turned out to be crap. One of the issues with Mega Man is that its transition into 3D hasn't been done very well. Megaman X7 was a complete and total disaster to the point where they had to go back to slide scrolling in X8. Megaman X Command Mission and probably Megaman Legends (never played that game) were done well as 3D games, but they're more RPGish and not the classic concept. I think we can have a great 3D Megaman game if executed properly, and it's a real shame they cancelled that one MMX first person shooter game because I would have liked to have seen how that panned out.
DeleteAlso, I never played Mighty Number 9, but just looking at it one of the problems I had was they were still using the same polygonal 2.5D graphics they used in Megaman X8 and Maverick Hunter X, two games that came out about a decade ago.
DeleteAre you going to cover the Box Wars videos anymore? Just curious.
ReplyDeleteIs he even doing any more Box Wars videos?
Delete0_0
Blame Society Films, the guys who do the Chad Vader videos, now do a bunch of box wars videos.
DeleteI already said I'm not going to do them anymore. He hasn't done a new one since October 19th either.
DeleteI'm not surprised that Skylanders is going to be discontinued. They keep crapping out ridiculous ideas and uninspiring characters that it's hard to keep caring to buy the new games and figures anymore. They're no Pokemon or Transformers.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, the whole idea of bringing toys into video games was a pretty cool concept that could last for a long time, but sadly the concept is being milked thanks to Activision and I don't think anyone will care about it ever again for a long time.
And if Skylanders is ending, Call of Duty will definitely be the next franchise to get a final nail in the coffin by Activision, considering the massive hate towards Infinite Warfare and the series is now nothing more than a Titanfall clone at this point.
Also, any kid who got into Skylanders starting with the first game (Spyro's Adventure) is a teenager or a college student now. At that point in their lives, they would stop spending their money on the toys and games.
DeleteI don't know if it follows the conversation, but I couldn't believe it when they revealed the next game was called Imaginators! That's rich coming from a company with no imagination!
Delete^-^
Yeah, I kind of expected this after how they more or less ran Guitar Hero into the ground in a similar fashion (though I am willing to play the new ones now that they're more or less back to square one). I was always kind of skeptical about the concept (even as someone who collects Pokémon, Star Wars and Transformers merch; with some dabbling in TMNT, Power Rangers and Marvel lately as well). So, since my area often tends to move this stuff pretty slow (still not sure whether it's due to lack of interest or inconsistent stock patterns); I might consider getting Imaginators and some extra figures if I see them marked down in the near future; but first I want to get the first three games on PSN store after I get this issue straightened out with my account. I also hope that the remastered Crash Bandicoot games are good; since I honestly don't want to see Crash go down the same road Spryo has (that, and his voice in the Netflix show is awful. I just skimmed the episode where he appeared on my profile, and I've heard more convincing Australian accents in that one Simpsons where Bart had to stand trial there for a $900 prank collect call). I dunno, I guess the Amiibo stand out because I actually care about the characters Nintendo has created (as well as guest stars from folks like Sega, Capcom and Namco Bandai) as opposed to all the baubles that Toys For Bob or whoever had a hand in making. If I do start Lego Dimensions, I plan on getting the base set and the expansions that I'm interested in (I'm no completionist, and I gather it is theoretically possible to play the main quest with just Batman, Gandalf and Wildstyle).
DeleteYeah, I agree. I had mixed feelings about games after the original trilogy as well; and that's part of the reason I've been reluctant to take up Skylanders. The other part, the whole "toys-to-life" subgenre is something that is potentially interesting, but I don't go out of my way to collect every Amiibo on the market. Just the characters and IPs I'm into would be enough, and I like a lot of the designs as well as how they work with multiple games and consoles (I think there might be a contingency for them on the Switch based on the video that unveiled it). As for Dimensions: many recent Lego games have been notable aversions of the problem with licensed games (by being pretty fun on their own as well as relatively faithful adaptations of their source material), so I'm not dead-set on getting the starter kit or any potential expansions just yet. At most, I'm just deciding which version of Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens to pick up, since it's adapting a film I absolutely adore and doesn't need any extra equipment or minifigures. Overall, the going rates of the whole thing are comparable to most Lego sets these days. As for the remastered Crash games: I also hope they do a good job with them in both updating the presentation for a new generation as well as retaining what I liked about the gameplay before (like with the HD reversions of the original Jak and Ratchet and Clank games), especially since the third game; Warped is my all-time favorite PS1 game. Still, I can respect Insomniac and Naughty Dog for wanting to move on and try other things; unlike Bobby Kotick and his infamous reputation (there's only so many times I can shoot things in a COD game before I want something else. Personally more of a Metroid/Star Wars Battlefront guy.).
DeleteYeah, least I can still enjoy the previous games regardless; and my Amiibo are in relatively good condition. Heck, they keep falling over and don't even get scratched, let alone dusty. If I were to start Skylanders, I could maybe only see myself getting the base unit on one console and maybe only one character from the other elements (since some of the designs are admittedly interesting to me even if I'm not a terribly big fan of the reversions that Spyro and Crash themselves were given; and that's coming from someone who didn't even hate the redesign for the Joker in the New Batman Adventures growing up). So, I'm mostly dealing with the erratic stock patterns and online scalping; though I am glad some of the ones I've been looking for are finally getting more common (like Greninja and Samus in the Varia Suit as opposed to the Zero Suit variant). As for Dimensions: most places I've checked have plenty of expansions I'm potentially interested in, but first I'm going to determine what console I'd be getting the base set for; since I might be getting a PS4 soon as well as some extra games for it (so I'd most likely be going through the main quest first with Batman, Gandalf and Wildstyle; and the Portal and Doctor Who expansions stand out at me even if Boring Man knew jack about those series).
DeleteOK, sounds good. Most likely going for the Uncharted 4 Bundle and a Magma Red controller as well as some extra games (especially The Last Guardian, which is coming out on the 6th and I've been waiting for a long time). Probably going for Imaginators and Dimensions base units for that system as well as some extra figures and expansions for each one (probably going for some of the "Legends" of previous entries for the former and expansions based on series that interest me for the latter, Boring Man rocking off to all that plastic be damned).
DeleteYep, it's on the list; since I tried a bit of it while shopping the other day and it was pretty fun. Really enjoy that series.
Delete"A video on Muppet toys which I imagine are old since the Muppets are essentially a dead franchise now."
ReplyDeleteThe upcoming Muppet Babies reboot on Disney Junior says otherwise.
Wait, they are rebooting Muppets Babies?
DeleteYup:
Deletehttp://www.muppetcentral.com/forum/threads/official-disney-announces-muppet-babies-return-in-2018.62387/
Well, to be frank, I am curious; even with it basically being a Pre-K show, since I did watch reruns of the original show on Nickelodeon when I was little. I'll have to see if I can find it somewhere, since all the extra footage would make it damn near impossible to clear the red tape on a DVD release (though inclusion of stuff from Marvel or Star Wars would be somewhat easier, since Disney owns those IPs as well).
DeleteThe new Puppet Steve video shows more Minecraft figures. Here's an actual quote from the video:
ReplyDelete"The first figure we're going to check out is the zombie. [...] It raises his arms like a zombie". You don't say?
Still thinking his audience are idiots, I see!
Delete-_-
OT: I got Pokémon Sun and Moon when they launched; and I'm really enjoying them so far. I'm about 64 hours in combined; and I just got the Z-Ring and Z-Crystals today from Amazon along with the 20th Anniversary Comic-Con figures. I'm already getting pretty good with the revamped mechanics, and I'm eager to know what anyone else who has the games thinks. I imagine they'll keep me busy well into 2017, to say nothing of talk of more games being made for the Switch. So, I'm going to be training my Incineroar, Hobbes; and my Primarina, Stitch; as well as my respective Snorlax and Greninja DLC in between studying for my communications final. See you all later, and Alola.
ReplyDeleteJust beat the main quest in both games, and my final went relatively well. I did catch Tapu Koko in Sun; I'll have to determine what I want to train next in Moon. Overall, I consider these games to be excellent, and worthy of celebrating 20 years of Pokémon. Now, I think I'll work on filling in the blank spaces in the Pokédex and get my Game Sync IDs set up for the Global Mission that's currently in progress. First, however, I think I'll get some rest; since the last stretch of the main game took longer than I thought it would. Alola, everyone.
DeleteNow I've caught Tapu Koko in Moon on my second try; should give me a solid expectation about the other Island Guardians. Now, I think I'll get that Magearna DLC (learning how to use the QR codes has been easier than I thought it would). Alola.
DeleteSo, Marvel vs. Capcom 4 may be coming soon, with a MCU-themed roster from the Marvel side. Any characters (from either companies) you guys want to see included?
ReplyDeleteI'll have to think about it; but I wouldn't mind seeing my favorite Street Fighter character, Sakura come back (though I haven't played Ultimate MVC3 yet and I don't know if she was there, but she was one of my go-to fighters in MVC2) for Capcom. For Marvel, I'd love to see Doctor Strange on the roster; since I find the character underrated and I really loved the movie when I saw it. "Dorammu, I've come to bargain!"
DeleteAnyone from Power Stone, really. Also from Capcom, since they like to pull out Megaman so much, why not put in Sigma? I am not especially a fan of that guy, but why not give it a shot?
DeleteAs for the Marvel side, Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel, or Beast would be my personal choices. And if they're going to pull a random Dormammu out of their hats, then let's have Annihilus as well! After all, have we not had Nova in UMVC3? That is my take on things at any rate.
Ladd Spencer, Momotaro from Pirate Ship Higamuru, and the player characters from Gun.Smoke, Section Z and Legendary Wings
DeleteI think the return of Megaman would be a nice gesture after he was left out of MVC3.
Deletehttp://kotaku.com/marvel-vs-capcom-infinite-is-coming-in-2017-1789642305?utm_campaign=Socialflow_Kotaku_Facebook&utm_source=Kotaku_Facebook&utm_medium=Socialflow pardon the link to Kotaku, but looks like Ms. Marvel has been confirmed. Check one on my wishlist.
DeleteOn the Marvel side, I'd like to see Death's Head. Whatever's more recognizable, recent, or both, yes?
Delete...Even though he's pretty obscure, no?
Any MST3K fans here? What's your opinion on the upcoming reboot?
ReplyDeleteMight be cool, given how successful the crowdfunding campaign was and the people they're getting to take part in it.
DeleteIt will be just as good if not better, but many won't realize it because they're old now and they consciously or unconsciously want to be in high school again and are taking it out on the show, DUH.
DeletePuppet Steve just reviewed a Suicide Squad Harley Quinn NECA figure. It's funny how he can look at toys from Nick Jr. shows and then look at stuff like this. Clearly he doesn't know who is target audience is (besides little kids who'll watch any FNAF video).
ReplyDeleteAlso "Akham City"
DeleteThis is such desperate clickbait. It's not even the Suicide Squad version of Harley, it's the Arkham City version.
Oy, it's going to be a long month. I may not have any DC collector figures yet; but as someone who may be starting soon, even I can tell the difference between the versions of Harley featured in Suicide Squad and the Arkham series! Some DC fan you are, Chris.
DeleteYeah, I'm already compiling my worst moments in my head; the top choice easily being that Boring Man has essentially lost all ability to care, and not in a good way. It's basically reached Eye Creatures level of not giving a crap.
DeleteIf the irate gamer is no more, then maybe there should be a Worst IG/CB moments of all time list.
DeleteYeah, there'd be a lot to work with; and I'm still open to the intended "finale" of the Power Rangers reviews being riffed sometime to bury the hatchet (though the Genesis and Sega CD reviews would have to be done somewhere besides YouTube on account of the stolen Megazord footage).
DeleteSo can we officially say that we won in bringing down the Irate Gamer, sort of?
ReplyDeleteThat said, maybe we should rename this blog as "Puppet Steve Sucks". Hey, we gotta keep this blog going somehow. Thoughts?
I suggests changed this blog's name to "Chris Bores Sucks". 'Cause frankly, covering Puppet Steve just isn't enough, especially when you take into account his activities on Facebook.
DeleteYeah, the only factor I can somewhat give Chris credit for is that he's a somewhat competent editor; so the only thing I could hope for is him maybe editing someone else's work. The main problem is that I'm not sure who'd be willing to hire him based on his reputation; especially after that exposé Guru Larry did on him (as well as Machinima and Game Life), after Larry offered him advice that he didn't take; no less.
DeleteDon't forget history of video games that he started in 2009 and is only up to the Intellivision.
DeleteI think rather than having BatDan end this blog entirely, he should rename it to "YouSuck" and talk about other terrible Youtubers. Chris Bores can still be talked about, but not just him.
DeleteI attempted to do a blog on bad YouTubers and YouTube videos several years ago called YouTube Trash, but I quickly stopped posting on it because it never really got off the ground. I might bring it back if enough people are interested.
DeleteYeah, with the NES Classic and the forthcoming Nintendo Switch; I think can officially file the chances of Chris finishing the Artistic License History of Video Games under "Hell Freezing Over." It's definitely telling that after claiming Ralph Baer was "honored" and "didn't get" his look at the Odyssey; Baer, who invented the console very bluntly pointed out how despite his skill as an editor; his effort and knowledge in virtually every other area was almost nil. So yeah, that would definitely be a deterrent to potential employers; as would a consistent inability/unwillingness to listen to criticism.
DeleteI was under the impression that Chris had sold off a lot of his consoles. In the old days we would see consoles like Gamecube in his room but with season 5 we only see NES. Unless my memory is clouded...
Delete@Spyro. Yeah, it was a disaster on every possible level; from concept to content and everything in between. It would be like me trying to review manhua (Chinese comics); a subject matter I'm not overly familiar with, and approaching it with a similar mindset. I definitely had my doubts about him ever reaching the NES; and it seems my skepticism was justified. It was a ludicrous idea for Boring Man to attempt this series, and it had all the problems of the main IG series on a much greater scale. Plus, the glacial pacing of the series covering every little thing didn't help either.
Delete@Edge. I noticed his filming room seemed a bit emptier in many of the newer videos, before all this fuckery with Puppet Steve and falling back on that stale ghost hunting obsession of his (that theater night a few years back had to be a bigger bomb than the new Ben-Hur). So, he might as well pawn what's left before he inevitably runs Puppet Steve into the ground like he most likely has with IG (and it's safe to say that his Hardcore Pawn guest spot is never gonna air, if it even happened at all).
@Edge XL I went back to his Season 5 videos and he still has SNES and N64 cartridges plus he still has a Gamecube (it's a black one but I remember him having a platinum one in earlier seasons) along with other consoles. But if Chris is truly done with IG, he should sell his collection because he probably has some rare gaming items unbeknownst to him.
DeleteTotally agree about that Spyro, both NES reviews are on my tentative list of worst moments for this year; easily topped by Boring Man now officially having reached Eye Creatures level of not caring. As for those masturbatory '80s videos: it's now a foregone conclusion the Transformers G1 TV show/figure "review" will never see the light of day because of his claim of it being "too expensive," yet all these bullshit videos with Puppet Steve and shilling worthless garbage definitely suggest he has his priorities elsewhere. I also highly doubt he did that spot either; especially since I never watched the show, but various bits suggest it's been canceled. Not just the guest spot, but the whole series even if the store is ostensibly still open and Les is still a scumbag. Sure, he may have been slightly more enthusiastic about the toys and food than the games; but that still doesn't excuse all the canyons in research and Family Guy nonsense in the lion's share of that series; least of all the Bazooka Joe "review."
DeleteAbout the Hardcore Pawn appearance, in the comments of the last post, reader "Jared DiCarlo" found an photo in Bores' ghost book that proves the Hardcore Pawn appearance did happen, but was probably unaired. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/QtidXUd6oxnPBNvbQS8oUvk11RNBX0gGgxZiprgEQynzuK9gl4ynVAa03tKoeFTfeL6Fkl30l9iJRAVDxSw4-kShcEhEOE8
DeleteThat new Puppet Steve video is the most cancerous thing I've ever seen. Thank goodness he didn't make a perverted joke about wanting to touch Harley Quinn's breasts.
ReplyDeleteWell, Rogue One comes out in two weeks and I have my ticket. Hopefully this will really be a good memorable Star Wars movie, but I feel it will be like the last post original trilogy movies where everyone says it's the best movie ever the first few days and then about a week later complain about stupid nuances.
ReplyDeleteYeah, I got my ticket as well; and I'm definitely approaching Disney's additions to the franchise with an open mind even with the circumstances (I do love Episode VII and the Rebels show, for the record; very firm in my belief that I find them good productions as well as worthy entries to the saga).
DeleteSo, the trailer for Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy just went live earlier today; and I am not only breathing a sigh of relief, I am now officially excited for the fact, especially since it was that series that got me interested in the Playstation platform when I was younger. I especially hope they take great care with Warped, as that's my all-time favorite PS1 game. It's one of many titles that got unveiled at PSX that I'm excited for (as well as the Insomniac Spider-Man game and Ni No Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom), and definitely has me eager to finally get a PS4 soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward the Parappa remaster! It's surreal seeing the original game with such crisp graphics.
DeleteYeah, can't wait for that either. Most likely going to be picking that one up when it comes out. Plus, really liking how good Death Stranding looks; as well as Del Toro's response to Silent Hills/PT getting canned being very succinct.
DeleteIt might. Even if I find digital distribution fascinating; I also like getting a tangible game that I can physically touch and by proxy, feel (I usually only get digital versions of games that I can't get real ones of due to cost, rarity, or compatibility ; like ones that are exclusive to Nintendo eShop, PSN Store or Xbox Live Arcade). Call me old-fashioned, call me what you will; and definitely call me when the remaster comes out (wouldn't mind seeing the sequel or Um Jammer Lammy get remastered either).
DeleteYeah, I can understand that. Still, love the idea that Full Throttle is getting remastered soon; since that was probably my favorite LucasArts adventure game not related to Star Wars or Indiana Jones. I tried to get the original version to work with SCUMM VM a while ago; to no avail, so I'm very eager to play it again.
DeletePuppet Steve just reviewed all the LEGO Dimensions Adventure Time figures. Oh dios mio. Those are my favorite characters in the game. And seeing Marceline in there is rubbing salt on an open wound to me, seeing as I recently went on a search for her to complete my collection but couldn't find one in any of the three Toys R Us's I checked.
ReplyDeleteUgh, I agree. As someone who's potentially starting the game soon and and looking into the Adventure Time expansions; I'm also peeved that Boring Man got his hands on a rare one (I also enjoy Marceline, the "Stakes" miniseries was fantastic).
DeleteYeah, and Infinity is now defunct; as is Disney Interactive as we know it. He has given a lot more emphasis on the figures themselves; and given the glut of Dimensions videos this year, I'm only going to include the truly abysmal ones on my tentative worst moments of 2016 for him; such as the now-gone IG NEO "review" that was basically a glorified checklist and that horrid Let's Play of the Ghostbusters 2016 expansion pack. Still, I don't think anything is going to top his overall not giving a shit for me, since that was the fatal flaw with IG and will also be Puppet Steve's undoing for the same reasons. He may entertain small children with that schtick, but they will inevitably want something else when they get older and move on when Boring Man is unable/unwilling to provide it. It happened with IG, it's definitely going to happen with Puppet Steve.
DeleteYeah, there's not a whole lot to Puppet Steve for me either; so I'm only going to include some of the videos that REALLY stood out as crap in my eyes, including the Sister Location LP and Pokémon Go videos collectively as single entries. I also will probably be including the shilling bloatware and barely-functional trash as collective entries as well; not to mention the ill-fated Box Wars series (I will definitely give scorn to his treatment of certain items, but those will also likely be counted as one entry). I will definitely include both standard IG episodes (Excitebike and Duck Hunt) and the Bazooka Joe Irate the 80s, but it's highly unlikely anything is going to top his overall not giving a shit at this point.
DeleteYes, I will most likely be including his ghost obsession; stagnation and using LadyBuggin as a sockpuppet as well. Also, probably going to include the video talking about Deathstroke as one of the villains in Ben Affleck's The Batman (working title) that proves he doesn't know a damn thing about the character despite his claim of being a "big DC fan." I'm a self-admitted casual comic reader that is very excited about the prospect of Deathstroke in the Extended Universe as well as Joe Mangianello playing him, so to say I was less than pleased by the video would be putting it mildly. He's not just some hitman, Chris, he's a character that many people, myself included revere; and he deserves better than what you said about him.
DeleteIts gonna be tough for bd to make a list this year and the readers to chime in with their "ops" since only 8 videos remain on "CB Network". Gonna require going by memory and looking over posts on this blog, as well as using more obtuse entries such as like Steven said, "not giving a shit". As far as the "end" of IG, I still would like to think he might bring it back. There is still the rest of the month, Xmas is coming, maybe Santa will vomit a new episode onto our computer screens (or whatever device it is the hip young people watch vids and play their PokieMans game tapes on). I guess there is lots of fodder though: hiding Steve/walls of silence, "tech/shilling (and not stating it as such, and possible promoting harmful to your device shit), dipping his toes into political commentary, name change, deleting videos (though this may be tied moreso into the shilling thing since he probably did it to make his channel look less stupid), box wars. Regardless, Bores deserves some kinda golden cookie for his relative success (seems he is making about at least 1600 a month of it, about the equivilant to a ten hour, 40 hour a week job,not bad for playing with toys via a puppet inspired by something he didn't create (shades of his beginnings as IG)) and pulling it off incognito for several months. If this really is the end of ig, I agree with whoever it was that said there should be an all time top ten worst list. It should be at least 2 lists, worst videos and worst for lack of better term "ethical" moments. Last thing,
Delete"woman with mental problems naked and defacing a church"? Sounds like my dream woman.
one last thing, lest we forget, the flood of negative comments on his app/tech reviews, followed by disabling comments before deleting them.
DeleteYep, some of those incidents happened where I live in Oregon; and so far the thing that's confused me the most is the notable lack of the Plus accessories anywhere I've been. I can only wonder how sustainable it might be in the long-term, but I've appreciated it in the short term; especially with the first couple events and more to come.
DeleteOT: So, anyone else the trailer to the Ghost in the Shell remake? Personally not looking forward to it; and plan on just staying home and watching the original film instead. I may like Scarlett Johansson immensely, and some of the visuals do look impressive; but I'm not a big fan of the liberties they're taking with the source material and even if the original author is OK with the casting, I really think the notion of "racebending" these roles needs to die.
ReplyDeleteI'm also not really anticipating the upcoming GiS Movie. Ther's something about that makes me feel like the filmakers responsible just put together a bunch of iconic moments from the source material for the sake of pure fanservice.
DeleteYeah, and the statements they made about the controversy didn't really change my mind either. To say I don't share their sentiments would be putting it mildly. The nicest thing I can say about the ordeal is that I do have a live-action remake that I know I can enjoy watching. I call it The Matrix.
DeleteThat's where things get confusing, Steven. The Wachowskis says that one of their main inspirations when making The Matrix is Ghost in The Shell, which makes The Matrix the closest that we ever got to a live action GiTS. So if we already have an adaptation of GiTS, why do Hollywood even need to remaking it again?
DeleteI don't see a problem with her casting. Then again, I'm not known for being PC sensitive, most people say I'm a jerk when it comes to that, actually.
DeleteCase in point, people could interpret this:
" I really think the notion of "racebending" these roles needs to die."
as you being against Marvel racebending roles so they can have more african americans on important roles, and I bet you'd be caught dead before you say something like that.
It's best to simply respect the original race of the character, actually.
Yeah, I have been relatively OK with the decisions Marvel Studios has been making in terms of casting; as I really enjoy Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury (helps the Ultimate version of the character was created with him in mind), and I am interested in Zendaya being the new Mary Jane based on how they've gotten all manner of people to fall in love with Gamora, Scarlet Witch and Black Widow. Still, my issue is not with ScarJo playing the lead so much as the script, since there's a lot of science fiction films on the docket in 2017 alone; and I'm worried the complex nature of the source material might be compromised in an attempt to draw more crowds. Moreover, I'm not a big PC guy either; I just don't like it when the people making creative decisions are so blithe about a touchy subject. That's basically what I took away from their assessment of the situation, all the more reason I'm staying home and maybe renting the DVD when it comes out. It doesn't help that the trailer personally gave me flashbacks to that horrible live-action Aeon Flux movie either, and I'm basically worried for many of the same reasons (that a highly unique piece of animation is being given a highly derivative and unnecessary live-action reversion).
DeleteJohn Glenn, American hero, aviation icon and former U.S. senator, dies at 95
ReplyDeleteLink
Hopefully, Chris Bores learned from his distasteful Leonard Nimoy "tribute" to just be respectful by being quiet.
DeleteNot to mention his tasteless post about Jew Wario.
DeleteYes. At any rate, Glenn was an inspiration to many people and he will be sorely missed. I hope his spirit continues to inspire people to reach for the stars for years to come.
DeleteThe actor who played Aemon Targaryen in Game of Thrones also just recently passed away.
DeleteIn Puppet Steve's biggest "I'm Hip with the Kids™, right?" move yet, his latest video shows a bunch of emoji toys. He promises Easter Eggs in the title and thumbnail of the video, even though Easter is over half a year away, but there are none in the actual video.
ReplyDeleteFurther proof that Puppet Steve has many of the same problems IG did in knowing jack about his audience and what they want. I mean, does anyone here know people personally that buy emoji-related gear unironically? I sure don't, and that's coming from a guy who's planning on making more additions to my Pokémon and Star Wars collections as a result of the 20th anniversary and Rogue One coming out, respectively (in addition to a DVD and some Evolutions cards I was after, I have secured a couple shirts and a Kylo Ren mask and ornament, as well as donated a TIE Fighter model to charity). I mean, the FNAF stuff I can at least see some people are into; but that still doesn't excuse the laziness of the Sister Location LP and saturating the channel with FNAF content.
DeleteI also gather that FNAF World sucked too; and I wouldn't put it past Boring Man to steal footage after the debacle with Sonic Generations and his general inability/unwillingness to learn from mistakes. I'm also potentially interested in starting Undertale soon; since I've got some time off till January and the style of the game intrigues me with its similarities to games from the 8-bit and 16-bit eras. I also like the idea that each path has a unique ending (not to mention someone like me could enjoy the laid-back nature of Sans and how other characters are portrayed).
DeleteSo, it seems the Nintendo Switch may potentially be having GameCube games on the Virtual Console. I am intrigued by the idea; since I find the system to be underrated with its fair share of great games. If the rumors are true, I think they could potentially start with the launch lineup from 2001 and go from there; and I may finally get my wish of digital releases of Pokémon Colosseum and Gale of Darkness as part of some planned content for the series there.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the ones I had were primarily the black and platinum variants. At least two titles I'm hoping for if it is true are Super Smash Bros. Melee (the first Smash Bros. game I owned and loved) and Star Wars Rogue Leader: Rogue Squadron II (my favorite of the Rogue Squadron games, hopefully they could clear the red tape with Disney somehow on that one).
DeleteGood choices, I also wouldn't mind seeing the first two Metroid Prime games and Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem included at some point either.
Deletelooks like we got our first decemeber updates...but nothing of substance
ReplyDeletemore box wars and a harddrive?
If you look closely in the new Irate Gamer videos, Bores seems to have taken down most of his video game posters... or is it just me? He's filming the videos in unusual angles to try to hide this.
ReplyDeleteAnd he's already disabled comments on the hard drive video. What a shocker. What on earth did Chris expect from this video? It was practically a guarantee it was going get a majority of dislikes and hate comments. Months and months of nothing and he posts a two minute video of some harddrive that his remaining fans don't care about. I agree with everybody else. His old channel is no longer on life support. It's dead.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Chris ever intends on finishing the Puppet Steve Sister Location Let's Play? Probably not. I doubt he would ever get past Night 4. But if by some miracle he did, would he actually show the dead technicians on a channel meant for kids? Given his track record, he probably would.
ReplyDeletePuppet Steve is most likely never going to finish the Sister Location Let's Play due to laziness, just like how Bores never finished any of the let's plays he tried to do on the Irate Gamer channel last year (most were one-part, but the Punch-Out let's play had two parts before being abandoned, like Sister Location). Even then, the fact that he lost to GLASS JOE of all people in the Punch-Out let's play should indicate his true level of video game skill.
DeleteWait what? Glass Joe? Wow. And people defend this guy on Guru Larry's video about fallen YT channels and people in general make fun of James' playing ability. Then again those are pains in the arse backseat gamers.
DeleteOy, it takes a special kind of incompetence to lose to Glass Joe; and I find it highly unlikely there'll be a DVD release of season 5 because of the Vince DiCola music in that montage scene (though that didn't stop him from including the stolen Megazord footage in the one of his story arc; still open to those reviews being riffed if IG is truly finished this time).
DeleteYeah, I noticed the quality was different in the later fights as opposed to Glass Joe; much grainier. He couldn't even be bothered to steal high-quality footage like in the past!
DeleteOr he could have used passwords, he's never been afraid of cheating, and has even proudly admitted to using Game Genie cheats (especially in certain season 3 and 4 episodes like Aladdin and Silver Surfer, though many episodes show him using some sort of cheat).
DeleteIronically, I remember in 2008/2009 one of the Irate Gamer parodies (I think it was Save State Gamer) used clearly watermarked footage from NESguide in one of his reviews, in a later commentary he mentioned finding it while looking for footage and deciding to throw it in to mock the possibility of Bores stealing footage. This became especially hilarious to rewatch after stuff like the Irate Gamer Neo Sonic Generations review, which unintentionally did a similar thing.
Delete@iDuck Really, anything that these IG Parodies says are always gonna be true at some point. What whit the game that they review, the jokes that they used, anything will be used by Bores at some point and it's becoming a reality now.
Deleteserious lolz on the box wars vid: a kit to make your own "bath salts" (legit as in you take a bath with it) i wasn't paying much attention and i here him say "make your own bathsalts", i said this in the comments as well: funniest thing we have heard from Bores this year. In the same box, some of the items come in egg shaped, plastic, pastel containers. I think we may have found the easter eggs that were supposed to be in his recent Steve vid. Also: look at the way his sleeves are rolled. I'm no fashionista but isn't that weird? or is that a they way the cool kids dress these days? Also kind of weird/sad that his hat is the first Xmas-ey thing I have seen this year, other than some VHS copies of Pee Wee's Playhouse and Lassie (original b&w series) xmas specials.
ReplyDeleteChris posted a Christmas video... about hard drives. What more do you expect?
ReplyDelete"Puppet Steve here, and as you know we're one of the top YouTube channels that talks about the McFarlane Five Nights at Freddy's toys."
ReplyDeleteIf that doesn't define the term "overly narrow superlative," I don't know what does.
DeleteIt also shows like I mentioned before that Puppet Steve has no soul and that Chris truly doesn't care about his new channel.
