*comes out of bomb shelter* Looks safe, seems all the ugliness has come to pass. *sighs* This has been a draining few days, but at least it’s over.
Looks like Bores already has a new video up. Like he promised in the last update, it’s an I Rate the 80’s. Heh, remember last year how he would release a new one of these at least once a month? Now, this is his first one in seven months. Someone needs to get their priorities sorted.
This video is on Colorforms, yet another toy. Continuing his pattern of toys and food.
You know, it’s fairly obvious Bores based this series on VH1’s I Love the 80’s. Hell, it’s in the show’s title itself. While that series did cover toys and food, it covered a myriad of subjects as well. Movies, music, TV shows, sporting events, fashion trends, world events, political events, advancements in technology, and so much more. While Bores did talk about a commercial campaign last time, it was one that predominantly took place in the 90’s, so I’m not really counting it.
The tagline on his site says he’s going to cover “everything” from the 80’s, he’d better pick up the pace then.
So, what are Colorforms? They’re a long-running (1951) adhesive vinyl toy shaped in various ways, mostly popular franchise characters. You get a board that you stick them to and have them act out stuff. That’s about it. Onto the video then.
Wow, he titled it “documentary”… again. You can use that word all you want Bores, that doesn’t change how ill-informed this series truly is.
0:05 - 0:50: The video starts with a brief introduction as he wonders where they came from. He follows up with “stock footage” from the 50’s, which is obviously modern stock footage with a filter over it. The sepia-tone makes it look waaaay older than the 50’s.
We cut to Bores in a wig, playing Harry Kislevitz (oy gevalt!) as he explains the “history”. What about Patricia Kislevitz? Aren’t you going to mention her, or did you not want to crossdress to portray her?
Also, where did Bores get this story about Harry’s pencil pouch? I’m looking up the official Colorforms website and it doesn’t mention that. Instead, it mentions how a friend in art school gave them a roll of paper-thin vinyl and they noticed it stuck to the semi-gloss paint in their bathroom. Bores, if you’re trying to tell the history in a documentary format, you can’t take liberties! This isn’t a Disney movie.
After that, we get a quick montage of Bores sticking Colorforms to various surfaces, ending on a toilet. He realizes what he did and proceeds to smell and lick the colorform, gagging after he does it. I find it funny how his fans (and his mom) claim he doesn’t resort to toilet humor. This is really blatant toilet humor!
0:51 - 1:12: IG brings up that the very first Colorforms were in simple shapes, then moves ahead six years when they released Colorforms based on Popeye. Or as he pronounces it “Pupeye”. Okay, there’s no excuse for that one, nobody pronounces it like that!
“Although they were crude in design” They were released in 1957 Chris, there was no quality standard back then. Just like the Odyssey, you never put yourself in the right timeframe!
He then puts together the Popeye Colorform (using photoshop as he obviously doesn’t have them) and makes it laugh. Errrgh.
1:12 - 1:47: “Now we enter into the 1980’s” I’m just going to completely skip over the 60’s and 70’s because I don’t feel like making this video longer than four minutes.
He lists off a few 80’s related Colorforms sets, and brings up a 3D ThunderCats one. We see him wearing 3D glasses, comments on it being “so real”, then he touches it and somehow brings Snarf to life. IG just swats him away. I’m looking for the funny but I don’t see it.
I’m really getting the feeling that Bores is the only internet critic that doesn’t think 3D is bullshit.
We cut to, oh great another Mini-Bores in a toy aisle scene. Complete with Bores being almost as tall as the shelf. Either Bores has no clue how perspective works, or he truly was that freakishly tall as a child. You make the call!
We see him get excited over various Colorforms, and he didn’t even bother to alter his voice. At least in previous videos, he changed the pitch. Here, he didn’t even care, all he did was make his voice slightly high pitched, sounding more like an adolescent hitting puberty.
“Welcome Back, Kotter? What the hell is this *bleep*?” Little kid cursing, that’s classy. Why did he even bleep it? Is he trying family-friendly again? Also, Welcome Back, Kotter is a sitcom that ran for 4 seasons (1975-79) on ABC. It’s about a teacher returning to his high school alma mater to teach a group of delinquent students considered “unteachable”. Being in the same position himself in high school, he believes he can reach out to them easily. This show helped jump-start the career of John Travolta, who was promoted to “Special Guest Star” in the final season after hitting it big in Saturday Night Fever and Grease. … Or was that supposed to be a joke?
1:48 - 2:40: IG brings up that as a kid, he had the Pac-Man Colorforms. If this his attempt to convince us he’s a gamer again, he’s going to have to try better. Everyone played Pac-Man back then. My Dad played Pac-Man back then, and he can’t even figure out Wii Sports!
Oh… it’s because he was a fan of the cartoon. Alright then.
He demonstrates how the backboard works, by placing Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man and Baby Pac (it’s actually Pac-Baby but whatever) on it. Then he has the car run over Pac-Baby. Why do you hate babies so much? Throwing the baby Kinnikuman figure into the disposal, running over Pac-Baby with a car. I don’t like babies either but I don’t want to hurt them! If this is your attempt at comedy, it’s not funny, it’s cruel!
He then places the ghosts onto it, and Pac-Man to scare them. This prompts the ghosts to somehow turn blue (effects) and scream “P-p-p-pac Power!” So lame.
Oh it’s not over. Mezmaron from the cartoon appears and says it’s “so hard to find good help these days” Jeez, I had to look up who that was. I’ve never seen the Pac-Man cartoon because it looks horrid, and seeing that character only instills the idea that it’s beyond awful. Just like these jokes.
He mentions that he had hours of fun playing with these guys, then complains that Clyde is yellow instead of orange. “Seriously a yellow ghost?!” Boy, I’d hate to see him play Pac-Man Arrangement with Kinky (thanks to Justin De Lucia for pointing this out)
“What the fu-” *cuts to a technical difficulties card with bleeps* So, cursing is allowed on the regular IG show because there’s still plenty of that. But for this 80’s show, you don’t want to curse. … What exactly do you want? Who are you targeting? If you want this 80’s show to be for kids, make a separate channel to keep them away from the naughty language of your main show. Though, you wouldn’t get money from that other channel, and you’re not high enough on the YouTube partner hierarchy for instant partnership on a new channel. Like iJustine or Shane Dawson. Either way, your target audience is all over the place.
EDIT: Pohger has informed me that it is now much easier to become a YouTube Partner. You can just create an account, upload a video, enable advertising on it, and you can be considered for partnership. Interesting.
2:40 - 2:59: He once again brings up that Colorforms had a ton of licensed versions, listing off a few more including a Michael Jackson one.
“Why are there so many little boys in this set?” Ugggh, that joke stopped being funny years ago. Though, Black Dynamite did pull it off, and that’s only after revealing Michael Jackson was part of an alien species called “Mama-se Mama-sa Mama-ku-sa” and he was still a child. Go watch Black Dynamite, it’s so much better than this.
IG then remarks that after the 80’s ended, so did their popularity. No… they’re still pretty popular. They still release new ones to this day. Spongebob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer, Green Lantern, My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, and so many others.
We arrive to his rating. He remarks that for every good Colorform set, there were strange ones. What’s wrong with CHIPs? What’s wrong with Colorforms based on TV shows?
Oh and he gives it a Nostalgic Overload. Of course…
“Who knows if these things will ever become popular again in the future” Do your fucking research!
“Until they do, I’ll just be playing with the Irate Gamer Colorform” WHAT? NO!
Oh good lord this is stupid! He places Colorforms of Irate Gamer, Ronnie, Tony, Wilson, and the lead HAL-bot onto his set. The lead HAL-Bot referencing Star Trek with “Resistance is Futile”. Ow, ow ow ow. Did he seriously just waste hours crafting custom Colorforms just for this joke? On his own show? How egotistical can you get?!
This video was outright stupid! Research failure in the history part, horrid jokes all over the place, and that ending bit was so god damn dumb that it hurt. I guess after the boring Bud Bowl video, we needed an 80’s episode that was topped to the brim with frothy stupidity.
Here’s something interesting StevenTheAnimeNerd noticed in the comments. Bores has expressed interest in doing an episode on the G1 Transformers, but says it would be too expensive. So, you have no qualms with spending thousands and thousands of dollars on old gaming consoles and games that you do not care for at all. But for a bunch of action figures that you seem to have some interest in you can’t do it because it’s out of your price range. I will never understand your logic.
It’s anyone guess on when the next video will be out. That’s all for now.
EDIT: Wow, I missed a lot in this video.
I didn't point out how the only Colorforms set he actually had was the Pac-Man one. That one in the beginning? Those were ones he made himself, and he just printed a picture of the original cover and taped it onto a box. Thanks to The Necro Critic for pointing this out.
The 3D box he was looking at didn't have a lid, it was just the box of his custom Colorforms. Thanks to Linkara for pointing this out.
In the Michael Jackson scene, he's holding the yellow ghost he was complaining about before. I missed this one as I was focused on the fact he made a dated "MJ is a pedo" joke. Thanks to Guru Larry and Shmuk Lidooha for pointing this out.
IG seemed to indicate that the Pac-Man set was based on the cartoon, when it's actually based on the Japanese Pac-Man designs. In Japan, Pac-Man (or Puck Man) had a long nose and pizza-shaped eyes. His western design gave him a smaller nose. On the Hanna-Barbara cartoon, he has a hat, a small nose, and white eyes with black pupils. The way he went on about the cartoon, he seems to think the cartoon inspired the video game, and not the other way around. This would lend further weight to my "Captain N/TV Shows" theory. Thanks again to Guru Larry for pointing this out.
As for those Irate Gamer Colorforms, paper cutouts with tape on the back. Thanks again to The Necro Critic for pointing this out.
So he can buy the whole collection of the 1980's He-Man action figures but he cannot buy the entire collection of G1 Transformers. What kind of logic is that? I know G1 Transformers figures are now very expensive on eBay but why is he able to afford the Magnavox Odyssey and every other Odyssey Pong consoles then? It's mind-baffling.
ReplyDeleteBTW, enjoy my newest mugshot photo of Bores.
http://i648.photobucket.com/albums/uu202/Shankatic/7DA69FBF-E5DF-4CE6-B570-28FBF4482614-5306-0000058692EBB30D.jpg
Bores has a very warped grasp of economic principles that, I'm sorry to say, only seems to be getting worse. I have no idea how much he spent on that Fairchild Channel F, but apparently he deems the G1 Transformers figures too expensive. Much like how he flip-flopped on wanting to see Transformers: Dark of the Moon in the Teenage Alien Ninja Turtles rant video. I mean, I'm not the hugest Transformers fan, but I do have a few figures; which I have done reviews of for my YouTube channel; and I am currently getting caught up on episodes of Transformers Prime for when new ones start up again on the 24th (really looking forward to seeing more of the Prime version of Wheeljack). There are all manner of people who do Transformers figure reviews on YouTube, peaugh being one I follow (he has also branched out into doing reviews of TMNT, Kamen Rider and Super Sentai/Power Rangers toys). Doug Walker has said that he's more of a Ninja Turtles guy, but he still liked the G1 Transformers enough to do a Nostalgia Critic review of the first three episodes-in a G1 Optimus Prime costume at a convention appearance, no less; doing a pretty durned good Peter Cullen impression.
ReplyDeleteSo yeah, I had never heard of Colorforms before this video, but it took me about 60 seconds to do a Google search of the stuff and, lo and behold, I found a Wikipedia page that says the brand is still thriving and acquiring more licenses. Bores still has this seed implanted in his mind that Wikipedia is bad, but I've loosened up about it since it does have plenty of citations to reliable sources.
I was hoping that this Irate the 80s would be bad so we could talk about it, and what do you know, it was.
I think I'll check out that Super Nintendo and Sega Genesis retrospective that James started; since I was alive during that whole conflict and was quite amicable about it with my friend Charlie. My house, we played my Genesis. His house, we played his Super NES.
Thank you for using my information, Dan.
Anyone else notice that the Pac-Man set is the only colorform set that he owns? It's the only one that he ever personally interacts with. When he shows the original set, you can tell that the box just has a cover taped onto it and that he cut out the colorform pieces himself. Also, the "Irate Gamer Colorform Set" is clearly paper cutouts with tape on the other side.
ReplyDeleteHis comment about why he can't make a G1 episode is pretty interesting. Is his Youtube income fading or what?
ReplyDeleteOh, and here's a pro tip: If you've just made a video making fun of "e-begging", it's not a very good idea that you're very next episode could be interpreted as you needing money. Might be a bit of a stretch, but so is this whole e-drama...
Hey, that's it! "Bores G1 Kickstarter: Give us money so we can give bores every G1 transformer"
Guess we should try a bit harder for our hypotethical kickstarter scam XD
DeleteWhy does he have to have every G1 transformer in order to talk about the toys? All he has to do is get a scan of the various toy catalogues and use that. If he has some of the toys so much the better but other then showing off a collection that's gravy!
ReplyDeleteBennett the Sage shows that you can talk about the history of something without it there to physically hold up!
When I think about it, the SNES vs. Sega Genesis video is actually better then all of Bores' "History of Video Games" (I'm terming "History" loosely)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad people like James Rolfe and others gave us informative material while being entertaining. By no means his "SNES vs. Sega Genesis" video counts as a documentary, but you'll learn a lot about the times and consoles.
DeleteThats because James actually had games consoles when he was younger so he can speak from his own experience rather then regurgitating half remembered facts he read elsewhere. Has Chris corrected his mistakes in his HOVG videos yet or does it take more then the person you were talking about telling you you're wrong to make Chris back down?
DeleteHe put a new comment on the latest vid, something about the new haunted investigators gonna have something in it that "blows all other ghost shows away"
ReplyDelete-_-
Please. A box of Boo Berry would blow away the "ghosts" on his show.
DeleteIt's probably either a Colorform Pac-Man ghost or the Kool-Aid Man.
DeleteI kinda enjoyed it. Not really good, but it was sufficiently, mildly entertaining to me and it actually told me of the existence of Colorforms or that they were called that (if they are the same as those sparkly stickers I see in art furniture stores in South-East Asia).
ReplyDeleteIG still does not rule, though.
Yeah, it did tap into my distant memory. My older sister had the Wuzzle set. I used to play with it when she wasn't around hoping not to get caught. I remember the imagery well, but never knew what it was from until this video.
DeleteSo, meh, I did get something out of it.
For what it's worth, I posted some comments on this video:
ReplyDelete"Mr. Bores, you should be careful when using the word "documentary". Most online video reviews aren't documentaries. They do inform, but its primary objective is entertainment. I think your video does inform, but the funny bits prevent it from qualifying as a documentary."
After a response by a fan,I gave mine:
"It could be funny, but you have to keep focus on information, Normally, jokes and sketches get on the way of presenting facts. They distract the viewer. Not to mention, the host must be taken seriously.
It's the same reason we don't use jokes, puns and poetry in a report or dissertation."
So I watched Archfiend's latest video on his obsession with James Rolfe, and I'm beginning to wonder if he has some kind of complex. I mean, he goes on about how he perceives himself as the underdog fighting the big bad invincible Internet celebrity, and brags about how he's backed by thousands of people. Guy seems to he's Spartacus or something.
ReplyDeleteIf support is an important thing to his views He is aware that James is backed by thousands more right
DeleteJames view ranking 203
Archie view ranking 8832
He's fucking hilarious in how he seems to believe others popularity makes them "sell outs" but at the same time boasts about his backing. I'll tell you what Archie make a video without mentioning another youtube producer, pick something you love or hate that can't be considered the work of another person on that site and make a video on it (TV, politics anything you like) afterwards compare the views to the ones where you criticise your fellow YT producers (y'know the ones who bring in enough ad revenue to make it worth youtubes time to share it with people as far down as the 8,000's in views, like yourself). You will see that YOU have no real "following" or "backing" just people reacting to the names you stick in your titles, but then £ha£$ £he poin£ i$n'£ i£ Archie.
I watched the Colorform episode, and it was...eh. The Toilet joke threw me off completely, I mean why would you lick something off of a Toilet? Does Bores not know the concept of Micro organisms?
ReplyDeleteGood Job on Debunking the Bores Dan, I love the research you did on this particular one. :)
After leeching off of James Rolfe's backside for years along with the endless bullshit that blarps out of his own face-hole, I'm sure Bores' is more than familiar with the taste of effluence.
DeleteGreatest thing I've seen somebody type all day. :D
DeleteAlso, "Leeching off of James Rolfe's backside" I see what you did there. ;)
Wow, one of the stars of "Welcome Back, Kotter" died today. His name was Ron Palillo. Bores probably didn't know but it still makes him look like a douche.
ReplyDeleteNo, no. Just bad timing.
DeleteStill better than anything AVGN has put out recently.
ReplyDeleteAnother sockpuppet?
DeleteThere's some truth in this. I'd gladly sacrifice the last few Bullshit episode just to have Bores lick his toilet again.
DeleteFace it, AVGN's time has passed.
DeleteHe's lorded it over the rest of us for too long.
Now it's our turn.
"Occupy Cinemassacre.com"?
DeleteLol "lorded it"
DeleteIm picturing James wearing a top hat pushing Robert Hopkins into a muddy puddle then stepping on him to keep his shoes clean. He's just posted videos, feel free to dissect them all you want, but where do you get him "lording it" from? I've never seen or read about him say anything dismissive of anybody else? I honestly haven't enjoyed his videos that he's put out as much as I have done but that statement smacks of some weird inferiority complex.
@Doresh The thing is with the movie being a while off yet James NEEDS to get excited about the Nerd again. If he just does retrospectives and rushed eps the casual fans will lose interest. Even if he feels he's done as much as he wants with the character AVGN is still the best promotional tool he has
DeleteI'm sick of James thinking he's better than everybody else just because he has more fans than most people.
DeleteI'm sick of people worshiping this guy just because he has a lot of games.
He's hogging all the fame and glory and keeping it to himself.
Things will be better once he's gone.
Robert Hopkins - Are you the troll of the week?
DeleteI'm not a troll.
DeleteI'm just tired of James Rolfe thinking he's such hot shit just because he's a little famous.
He's not famous! Nobody outside the internet knows who he is.
...and who's on the internet, right? Practically no one.
DeleteSo make something, tool. I don't usually pull the "let's see you do better" card, but since you think it's "your turn", go ahead and take it.
Delete@Clark:
DeleteDon't worry. I have patience.
@Robert Hopkins:
What makes you think James has some kind of god complex? What has he ever done that might prove this?
Heck, Bores is not even half as famous, but MUCH more full of himself: He's constantly talking about the fan mail he gets, bragging about the "success" of his shows, and he won't even admit a research failure when the guy who called him on his mistakes is a pioneer of the video game industry who experienced everything first hand.
And what's with this "hogging all the fame and glory"? Do YOU hope to get some of this glory or what? And why did he make crossovers in the past if he wants ALL the glory?
@ Robert
Delete'Now it's our turn.'
Your turn to shine? Pfft hahahaha.
Also, you say James isn't famous outside the Internet. How come he can make special appearances in public conventions then? How come he can still do a crossover with TGWTG? And if James isn't famous outside the net, is IG famous outside the net then?
"Now it's our turn."
DeleteYour turn to do what? Who are you? What do you bring to the table?
Damn, I haven't noticed that line!
Delete"Now it's our turn."? Our turn to do WHAT? Start video game review shows?
I'm pretty sure if your show's concept is refreshing enough, you could've started it ages ago - like in this several months long timeframe in which James was busy making his movie. That was YOUR chance to steal all his glory and fame, you silly person!
Eh, he means it's our turn to lord things over James, but even though I haven't been watching for a while, I don't remember him ever lording anything over people. I certainly remember his more diehard fans lording it over the people who co-star with him (like Captain S), that they were unworthy of wiping his ass let alone sharing a stage with him.
DeleteBut anything popular has insane fans, that doesn't mean he himself ever thought that.
@Locus Ceruleus Media
DeleteWhats the internet?
LMAO! What the fuck is your little sorry ass blog post kid? You actually wrote paragraphs dedicated to a Youtube user, as well as gave that user more attention. Haha, poor faggot you should do me next because everyone will laugh at you kiddo.
ReplyDeleteAnd people will laugh at you for wasting your time making this post that will affect no one but yourself. Joke's on you.
DeleteThe Snake eating its own tail.
DeleteI should mention that the requirements for becoming a Youtube partner have been made more lenient, so now anyone can make an account and make videos. Look here:
ReplyDeletehttp://support.google.com/youtube/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=72851#US
So THAT explains why Bore is still a partner. Interesting...
DeleteAnd now for something, a little different:
ReplyDeletehttp://blog.equalitopia.com/post/29226571215/gay-gamer-convention-gaymercon-picketed-westboro-baptist
i noticed that the gay group has a kickstarter, if Asalieri and other assholes ride on the just because of that, it better prove that they are just manipulating fascist assholes who want to come up as high and mighty.
Clearly Robert here is in a situation similar to that of Oswald the Lucky Rabbit from Epic Mickey. Robert must have been the original angry reviewer until one day James came along and became successful which left Robert to fade away into obscurity. Now he wishes to take back his fame. Unfortunately he's doing it by way of leaving comments on a blog instead of taking any visible action.
ReplyDeleteSeriously there isn't even 50 weapons in the game of Legend of Zelda.
ReplyDeleteWhat the hell was with the dead baby humor in this? Maybe if I remembered anything specific about the Pac-Man cartoon and hated the baby I might understand, but I doubt Bores watched that at all.
ReplyDeleteAnd as for licking the toilet, well geez, if he wanted to acknowledge what a dumbass he is, mission accomplished.
He referenced the show's villain, that seems to indicate he's seen it. As for the baby... I don't know either.
DeleteI wouldn't have minded the toilety-licky bit if he had cut away as soon as it happened. It might have been quirky even. However, it dragged on (in internet time) with the reaction bit.
DeleteI also noticed that the "3-D" box actually did not have a lid when he dropped it down and was just the box of colorform shapes.
ReplyDeleteYou forgot to mention that when he's talking about the Michael Jackson set, he's holding one of the Pac Man ghosts.
ReplyDeleteHis hatred for babies knows no bounds: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qzba4-juMIw
ReplyDeleteI owned lots of Colorforms sets as a kid. what was a bit fun is most of the 'space' related sets tended to all have the same space background meaning that the Star Wars, Star Trek, and Battlestar Galactica sets could be used to make battle scenes with all of of them together. It was fun having stormtroopers attacking Cylons and so forth. You could set the three backgrounds next to each other and they were similar enough to make one really big scene.
ReplyDeleteI kind of wish I still had all of my old sets but like usual with toys I wore out or lost most of them. C'est la vie!
I already said everything that needed to be said about the video, so I'm going to jump in on a few things.
ReplyDeleteIn regards to Patricia Kislevitz, I think Chris may have not wanted to feature her as like you said, he didn't want to cross-dress as her, or maybe he didn't want to have his "mother" portray Patrica to keep the theories on whenever she's real or not still going. Maybe if someone asked if Chris would ever feature a legit female on the show (not like he would), he could have used LB, since that would possibly prove she's really Chris' mother, despite not changing anything regarding the damage "she" had already done. Plus, it would have been smarter if Chris had tried purchasing all the sets he had mentioned off of online shops, rather than creating his own, or just buy the more modern sets and use those.
For the Pac-Man colorforms, the reason they made Clyde yellow was because of color limitations. The entire sheet only supports red, blue, black, and pink, with yellow acting as the color of the colorforms before the rest were painted on. Since no orange was part of the colors, they had to make Clyde yellow, or else he would've probobly become yellow with red poka-dots or red entirely. Further support that this set wasn't based on the cartoon, is because like stated, they follow the Japanese designs, but also they don't include Sue (whom later become canon to the games starting from Pac-Land) nor the main villain of the cartoon. Plus I don't think I've ever seen the show feature anything like the backdrop.
Chris probably did the car running over Baby Pac-Man (that's it's true name, though you could also say it as Pac-Baby) because he assumes his viewers dislike babies, and that was a poor and rather sinister attempt at a laugh.
If Chris wanted to make his custom IG colorforms as accurate as possible to the originals, he could have used Photoshop to reduce the colors on the set and the characters, possibly sticking only with yellow, red, black, blue, and navy blue thanks to the Posterize function, and try using a smarter way of getting the "colorforms" onto the set, like double-sided tape on all the edges rather than one strand rolled up and placed in the center of each.

ReplyDeleteGreat.....He will now focus on Jewwario :(
Oh and of course, a quote from him:
Deleteand true to form, the Irate Gamer sucks blog has deleted my comments defending Bores' video. Which is funny, because BatDanKnight complains about how Bores deletes comments and censors, but... BATTY, YOU DO THE EXACT SAME THING! Their sycophantic love for AVGN is impressive, though. They'll follow him into whatever abyss he tells them to jump into.
so admitting you are the one making multiple accounts trying to troll and use straw-man arguments, you swine?.
but in all seriousness, Why JewWario, he might be moderately famous, BUT WHY?, Why him?, he is a good reviewer, and he's done absolutely nothing wrong, nor being involved in any e-drama war or anything like that, is it because he is associated to TGWTG?.
Then Again the asshole used to got David to take potshots to people like James, and they took a potshot at jewwario in the infamous Punchdickia video.
Asa is a scummbag flamming troll.
He's totally tsundere for us hahaha
Delete[satire mode] Oh my god. Jewwario wants to make a tokusatsu series (and we all know that costumes are basically freely available). What a monster. Never in my entire life have I seen such a horrible case of e-begging. Oh the horror. [/satire mode]
Delete"For that matter, why on Earth do people truly donate to these scumbags? It's not like they're getting anything out of it. They're not investors, they're letting these people make business deals and profits off donations! There oughtta be a law against this blatant abuse of internet notoriety."
People donating money WITHOUT expecting more money in return? COMMUNISM!
And of course do they get something out of it: Tokusatsu!
You know what? I have lost ALL of my respect for Asalieri. When Hardcore Kid did his Top 15 Smegged-up Yotuube failures list, he put Asalieri and JFreedan on the 7th spot. I'm convince. He LIED to Headbanger142 about BatDanNight trolling him so that he can make him remove him from the list and leave JFreeDan there.
DeleteAsa, you are one fat scumbag.
From what i understand, HK removed Asalieri from the list because Asa keep spewing that bth Batdan and him were accusing him of Death Threats, but at the end, it turned out that it was a random Youtube Troll who also sent slanders and threats to HK, (HK showed that in his apology video), so, i am at the very least willing to believe that maybe the Death threats from Asa were not true, but he still used batdan and HK as scapegoats anyway, HK told that in the skypechat they got that asa is actually a nice person (yes sure, more like just playing nice to make you feel guilty for just calling him out on his BS) and make him remove him from the video, but knowing that Jfreedan was left intact................yeah, he dint really cared about what was right and wrong, he just wanted to make himself look good, not to mention the smug attitude Asa usually does in his responce video agaisnt HK, and make him look like a liar by showing his house clean, because the accusations of him being a slacker and a horrible parent, (because is not like he just cleaned the house for that moment, and is totally not suspicious that he attempted to nay-say his op-posers by making them look like lairs and ridicule them, because that's what you totally do when someone is making a harsh accusation against you that it might not be true, right?).
DeleteI cant grasp why people follow him and take his words without seeing how much of a douchebag he really is, and even when his points might look valid, on the surface, when you really deconstruct them, you find out that they are really not that good, and i got friends, who listen to him and agree with him and, no offense to my friends, but, you really should know better (mind you they are not assholes like some of his followers).
I am to think that because he acts like a comedian or tries to be funny, people think that he just exaggerates his opinions for comedic value, like a normal internet reviewer, even tough Asa bashes EVERYBODY ELSE who does that, which is totally not a red flag right?.
actually, now that i remember, BACK in 2011 during the Drama about the AVGN 100th episode (ROB the Robot), Asalieri claimed that Batdan was fooled by a stupid internet troll kid into believing him sending him the death threats, BUT NEVER MENTIONED who he was, never hinted it was HardcoreKid, Then this year when HK made his video, now he decided to say it was HardcoreKid the one who fooled BatDan into trolling him, that sounds more like Asa wanted to blame HardcoreKid over something that at the end of the day, wasn't his fault, neither Batdan, because he wanted to switch away the hate towards you dan and HK.
Delete@Sovereign64 LOL!!! Do I give a fucking shit? If it was coming from a somebody I might of cared, but since it's coming from a nobody, I couldn't care less.
ReplyDeleteAnd your shit's coming from a nobody. Why should we care?
Delete1. The Reply button is your friend.
Delete2. How are you more of a nobody? What have YOU accomplished that should put you above Sovereign64?
3. You "might have cared" if a "somebody" talks to you? Does that mean you put yourself above "somebodies" as well?
4. Why do you even post here if we are mere Pariahs for you? Do you want us to honor with your divine writing skills?
5. Speaking of them: If you want to be taken seriously - ESPECIALLY if think so highly of yourself - try not to write like an immature school kid.
@ Nicholas
DeleteLmao. You really amuse me to no end. You claim you don't care about what I said to you and yet you replied my message. Hypocrisy much?
Can someone please explain to me the problem that Asalieri has with Kickstarter, Indiegogo, etc. Does he not see that people can do whatever the hell they want with their own money?
ReplyDeleteAccording to Asa's video description, he doesn't believe in giving people money with out expecting something in return - meaning that he doesn't get the concept of donations.
DeleteHeck, he's not even right in this case: People DO get something out of it. Every Kickstarter project wants to create something. Some people want this something and therefore donate the money, so that they can HAVE this something.
Or maybe they're just jealous because people use the internet for more than hate-filled videos on Youtube.
So Asa doesn't believe in charity?
DeleteAsa should really read a dictionary. That's a difference between Donating and Begging.
DeleteI'm pretty sure if Asa gets into an accident and requires an organ transplant, he doesn't want anybody to donate their organs to save his life because he thinks organ donors are scumbags too.
@Sovereign64:
DeleteThat's plausible. After all: The "dumbasses" donating their organs get "nothing" out of it...
Guys like Archie come off as dejected loners craving attention but Asa's got a family, you'd think he'd have better things to do with his time.
DeleteIn my opinion, I think it's all fueled by jealously towards James.
DeleteI think its more fueled by being able to make money of puting James's name in their videos
Deletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqIUKVMxfmo&feature=plcp
ReplyDeleteYep just call him an E-begger..........
Also calls him a scumbag oh my god...somebody must take on him!
DeleteI'm fucking sick of E-Begging!
DeleteStop asking for fucking handouts!
Nobody owes you a goddamn thing!
Get a real job if you want money!
I'm imagining you doing this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4CofbOiKj0
DeletePeople, the sooner you realize that Asalieri is just a Slanderous Overzealous False Prophet and the Youtube equivalent of Assholes like Glenn Bleck, the better.
DeleteYou know I have to wonder just how many real life friends guys like him and Archie have lost over inconsequential stuff like this. Considering how quick they are to lose their shit over internet celebrities they claim to have been fans of, I'd have to imagine more than a few.
DeleteI don't think Asalieri has ever claimed to be a Prophet of some sort. Just another random youtuber who tells it like it is. I don't understand why everyone is out to get him, especially since you guys just write him off as a troll.
DeleteMaybe it's because he is? The guy has a vendetta against TGWTG after getting banned from the forums after he accused them of poor OSH standards due to an incident with Elisa Hansen, that was little more than just fatigue from a long shoot (not dehydration, as he would have you believe), and the non-disclosure agreement was to avoid spoilers (you know, because there are actually people out there who are interested in Suburban Knights).
DeleteAlso, accusations about James Rolfe pocketing some, if not all of the money he made through donations for the AVGN movie, despite concrete evidence to the contrary on James Rolfe's website. So much for telling it like it is.
There's a big difference between disagreeing with the majority opinion and slander.
@ Vasily
DeleteReally? Asa is not a troll? Then why is he targetting towards people who have NEVER done anything wrong to him? Especially several reviewers on TGWTG like Linkara and JewWario? The only reason why he targets them is because he's jealous he never gets to become an official TGWTG reviewer and that is why he's bashing them like hell, making him a genuine troll.
Like it is or like he thinks it is?
DeleteI don't really understand why he's out to get these kickstarter projects when the only thing that'll make you hand over your $$$ to them is your own desire to see what they're going to produce and your judgement of their ability to realize it. It's like going to the grocery store or the movies; if you don't like the sound of what you'll be getting for your money, spend it elsewhere.
I, for instance, enjoyed the fan-made Ghostbusters movies produced by Braxtanfilms, and the indie tokusatsu series France Five. Imagine how many more of those things there could be, and how the ones that do get made could be better, if they could get funding from people interested in their work. Instead of relying on Hollywood, which is increasingly less willing to take chances with their projects.
If he's trying to save people from throwing their money away on these projects or something, well, like Ron White said, you can't fix stupid. If he manages to warn people not to give money to a kickstarter project, they'll find someplace else to throw it away.
Do I plan to see the AVGN movie? No. I haven't watched his videos for a long time. But if I was interested in seeing it, who the fuck is somebody like Asalieri to tell me I can't give it money to make it better? If I think he's going to spend it on hookers and blow, I won't give it to him.
tl, dr: There's nobody sticking a gun to your head for money for an indie movie.
@starofjustice:
Delete*deleted comment because I noticed a glaring mistake*
Seeing how you need a credit card to donate, I hope that most credit card ownsers are sensible enough to think for a second before spending their cash.
That was the gist of my comment, but I can see a place where I forgot to include something.
DeleteIf people thinking about donating to these things really are as monumentally stupid as Asa seems to think, like his warning is the only thing that might save them, then I really don't see what would keep them from going and wasting their money on the next thing they see.
I really don't think most people are that stupid, but the point I was trying to make was I don't see why anybody would get worked up over something like this in the first place. If you don't believe in the cause, don't give to it. If you do, give as much as you think would help. What business is it of anyone else's?
Lol, putting it like this, he reminds me of our paranoid German government that tries to protect us from eeeeevil violent video games (even though those are for adults, and why you would censor something meant for adults is beyond me) XD
DeleteI thought this was the Irate Gamer Sucks blog.
ReplyDeleteNot the AVGN/TGWTG Defense Force.
Cool, my theories about the internet are true:
Delete- We think it's ridiculous that every Kickstarter project these days is seen as a case of e-begging.
- Therefore, we don't reflect your own opinion.
- Since you are an IG fan, this means that your minds categorizes us as "AVGN/TGWTG"-fanboys who are just as loyal as you are, because you can't comprehend more than black and white.
Thank you, you have been a great guinea pig :D
And we are not "Defending". We are using comming sense.
Having had a dad in the army AVGN/TGWTG Defence Force sounds like a real organisation.
DeleteI'm not an Irate Gamer fan. I'm just sick of the fanboyism going on here in regards to AVGN and TGWTG.
ReplyDeleteCool, I was a victim of my own theory. It works Oo !
DeleteAnd what makes you think there's fanboyism involved? Just leaning towards the site whose arguments aren't made of stupid.
Why is it when you are a fan of something somebody doesn't like you are "fanboy". I watch Videos by some of the TGWTG but there are some I don't like or just don't really enjoy anymore. I wouldn't say Im a hardened fan its just something I watch while Im waiting to do stuff at work. I enjoy a lot of AVGN's stuff and he comes over as a decent enough person. If you can explain how James has hurt you or anything that shows other proof of your accusations then fine, assuming your faceless and thus far unfounded words should be good enough to change the opinion of anyone but the blindly devoted really smacks of arrogance.
DeleteSeems like Asa is pretty serious about this crusade against Kicks- I mean e-begging.
ReplyDeleteHe should start accepting donations to fund this war.
I can't wait til he says something about this blog again.
DeleteHey BatDan, I think you should check this out... http://theonemrblonde.tumblr.com/post/29321353345/batdan-doesnt-get-it
ReplyDeleteThat guy's funny. We should invite him over here :D
DeleteThis sad fellow says Spoony steals footage...except Spoony actually gives credit when he uses someone else's footage in the credits to his videos. He even provides a link below the posts on his site
DeleteTalking about completely missing the point...
DeletePretty cool analysis. I had fun with it.
DeleteYa know, one of the things I like about James Rolfe is that he comes across as being truly light-hearted and just wanting to have fun. He doesn't involve himself in the drama, and when he makes a video he's always smiling and expressing genuine admiration to his fans. It really looks like he helped with the Cheetahmen 2 video because he actually wants to see it completed because it'd be cool.
ReplyDeleteEveryone else takes everything too seriously. What's the big deal with people asking money on the internet? It straight up does not affect anyone in anyway. It's their money let them do what they want.
It's easy to be happy all the time when people are constantly throwing money at you and you don't have to worry about getting by, like normal people.
DeleteSo all celebrities are inherently evil Oo ?
DeleteEveryone hates assholes, even other assholes. Some assholes project their own personalities onto others. They know they're assholes, so they assume everyone else is an asshole. They know they can't possibly ask for money unless it's to serve themselves, because they're assholes. They assume no one else being given money can possibly use it for anything other than lining their pockets, based on their prejudice. Being the assholes they are, they have to call out the other assholes so they'll appear to not be an asshole, even though the people they're calling out many times aren't assholes at all.
DeleteIs everyone trying to say the concept of donations is evil? I could probably put your words into a scenario involving a soup kitchen.
DeletePerson A: Donate money to the soup kitchen, it's a good cause.
Person B: No! Don't donate money, they're all just begging for money.
Person A: They're not just begging for money, they're providing a free service.
Person B: It's not a free service if you have to pay for it!
Person A: Well, not everyone has to pay for it. You can use the service without paying if you'd like, you can use the service and pay if you'd like, or you can pay and not use the service if you'd like.
Person B: But why spend your money on that when you could be giving it to homeless people in Africa?!
Person A: Isn't it our right to do what we please with our money?
Person B: Yea, but clearly everyone is brain-dead and unable to make financial decisions by themselves, the kitchen is brainwashing them into donating.
Person A: You're an idiot.
Does everyone see the issue with complaining about this now?
I am a lumberjack and I'm ok, I look like Flynn but I'm not so gay! :D
ReplyDeleteYeah you admit you like my cock and has wet dreams about me... too much retarded for me you are!
DeleteI see your brain is malfunctioning, it's clear you are not thinking "straight" XD
DeleteI didn't said anything about any cocks, but I see you are thinking about them all the time, coming out of the closet I see :D
so you are the " lumberjack " as you stated before. you could be more original and not using my image to trolling me i think.
DeleteAnd now Asalieri has made a video mocking the comments on this page.
ReplyDeleteI think maybe we should starve the troll. By acknowledging his existence, we're giving him power! I for one pledge never to speak of him on this or any other website ever again. I will not post comments on his Youtube. Anyone with me?
Not gonna be easy, because the asshole keeps slandering and trowing hate and dirt to innocent people over bullshit reasons, in this case would be more that ignoring the problem will just treat the symptoms instead of the disease.
Deletewe could just ignore him, but the problem is that is too late, the monster has lots of blind sheep and drones attacking innocent people, spreading conjecture, ignorance, hatred, and just venom overall, and if we just ignore him, because he is a narcissistic arrogant smugshit, he will gladly makes his way into running everyones rep, in worst case scenario.
I am telling you this guys because the problem is that, people follow him or take his words as good points, and they ignore the fact that his intentions arent the most noble, and that he still a horrible douche who thinks because is the internet is okay to not have any restrain and humility and decent manners and humanity.
I wish these people can see the truth, and not follow someone who is just manipulating people into doing his bid.
I'm with thee
DeleteAt the very least, here is some people who arent being complete blind:
DeleteWell it's understandable that people would think you're smug, I mean, reading people comments in a mocking tone like that? And besides the first few were snarky if not neutral, hell I once said you were complaining about your laptop as a subtle way to get a new one as a donation, it was a joke and you acted like I called you Hitler. It's pretty clear at least a bit of this is due to you being somewhat reactionary in the literal sense.
777Lloyd777
Very brave of him carry out his personal vendettas on his Youtube channel. Did he at least put up a link to this blog? I can't tell because the video got removed :-|
DeleteLike how it's equally brave to talk shit about Asa from the comfort of a moderated blog that already carries a personal vendetta against him?
DeleteAsa just pwned your asses!
ReplyDeleteAsalieri (if you are, which i am suspecting is you, and of course you will deny it in a mocking response video a la tubers93), when you even gonna get that we don't want you here, because of all the damage you have done in the past and your attitude.
DeleteIf you don't want him, stop baiting him with comments. Simple as that!
DeleteSo basically, we can't talk about Asalieri at all, then? Unless it's to constantly suck up to him?
DeleteSeriously, your argument is flawed.
The fact that there are people who know how to write in English properly and create decent articles decide to use their skills to harp on one guy that was relevant in 2007 instead of applying for a position at a local paper makes me sad.
ReplyDeleteBores sucks, we get it, get over it and do something instead of wasting your time harping one the guy by writing walls of texts on him and shitting all over people with different opinions then yours by strawmaning them into oblivion. If anything this blog is a testament to how some people can stick to things and never get over it.
*waits to be flamed by the AVGN defense force bathing in their own preconceived notion*
We're actually exposing the game-reviewing equivalent to Uwe Boll. This blog is actually a testament to how not to be a game reviewer. We make a lot more than just bashing.
Delete"We're actually exposing the game-reviewing equivalent to Uwe Boll. This blog is actually a testament to how not to be a game reviewer. We make a lot more than just bashing."
DeleteWhy exactly are you an authority on how to review something?
Relax, would you? Making dopey reviews of dopey games and movies is not serious shit.
Says the guy who, a few days ago, was yammering on about taking down James Rolfe like he was some sort of fascist tyrant. Yeah, you don't take this shit too seriously at all.
DeleteYeah. Those trolls are champiins in both hypocrisy and stupidity.
DeleteI gess I just have hood taste in game reviews. Or in reviews in general.
I was just trolling you guys.
Delete@lordlaharl:
DeleteNot to mention he apparantly pans to replace James Oo
Actually, the fact that we have the time to complain about petty stuff like this rather than food, water, or marauding brigands shows how advanced we have become as a civilization when you stop to think about it. Is it unimportant? Yes, in the grand scheme of things, but frankly it's fun taking the piss out of Bores. Much like it's fun to take the piss out of us...
Delete@Mario Augusto Puga Valera
DeleteHumor is subjective, while most (myself included) think Bores sucks plus a lot of the reviewers most users defend are also commonly misinformed like Bores is, why do they get a free pass but Bores gets hammered years after he stopped being relevant?
I like the Nostalgia Critic's reviews but at the same time there's a lot of misinformation. I mean shit Doug made whole videos about his mistake.
Plus how the fuck is Uwe Boll still relevant?
"why do they get a free pass but Bores gets hammered years after he stopped being relevant?"
Delete"I mean shit Doug made whole videos about his mistake."
I'm getting out of it after this, but you answered your own question.
And Bores did the same thing no? Remember that letter that Mike decided to leak?
DeleteOn an entirely different note, I just got the game Sleeping Dogs. Its pretty good from what I've played. The controls are decent, the combat similar to Arkham City, the missions are okay. I should emphasize that this is just a first impression of the first hour or so I've played the game... so basically I can make an Irate Gamer Neo episode out of it. In fact, let me try:
ReplyDeleteIrate Gamer here. Uh, recently I've been, uh, getting a lot of emails from my many, many fans to review the game, uh, Sleeping Dogs Lie. Does it live up to the hype? Let's find out. You play as, uh, a criminal thug who beats up other thugs and steals their money. Playstation went above and beyond for this game. Sleeping Dogs Lie offers a huge open universe situated in Japan in which you can beat up people, run over people, or even run away from the cops. (On screen, shows character shoving an npc) Oh, me so sorry. Now if there are any downsides, its that not all the dialogue is in English. Come on, you can't get everyone to speak in English. This is lazy. Even I can do it (does so). Also speaking of the sound, it feels way off. If you have a good ear, you'll know what I'm talking about. This game should also have more characters like Liu Kang, Chun-Li, uh, Ryu. See everyone I know these characters, so that makes me a gamer. So, even though I've only played this for only an hour, this is my Irate pick for the Wii. Until next time gamers, Game On.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b9t4rvv2aBo&feature=g-all-u
ReplyDeleteNice one, dumbasses! Way to prove Asalieri right!
And how do you know it was somebody here who flagged that video?
DeleteIm sorry, but when did did this site become a crèche for retards?
ReplyDeleteFirst of all you bitch about Asalieri on a blog solely dedicated to Chris Bores, ergo dragging BatDan into a fight he originally had no involvement in and then rather than taking the higher ground by ignoring the man when he called you out for your ill informed accusations about his life and his family (BTW be sure to bring up that his Dad is a Jsmes Bond villain, that's always good material) you then of and flag the shit out of his video? Handing your stupidity to him on a golden platter.
Damn, you guys must never get any sleep with MENSA banging on your door begging for you to join them!
Mr Larry, listen.
Deletei explained before that the man is the type of person which ignoring him would actually make things worse, i understand that you might be in good or neutral terms with him but, i tough you can see trough his behavior and that he is not really the type of person to act better than everyone else, the guy has indeed resorted to trolling in very inflammatory ways before and even now still, and doing so in mocking ways and taking things out of context and making look his opponents like parasites that have no point against him, even if we have legitimate reasons to hate the guy, and you claim that we are a creche of retards, really sir?, i tough you would have a little more integrity than that.
Is not just his opinions based on pure conjecture, prejudice and gun jumping, and that he acts funny to gain people listen to his side, is his attitude, his arrogance, his overall pretentiousness and the things that he does, and how he humiliates others than dont comforts his opinions, at this point there's no way someone would actually take him as an intelligent person who knows better, he knows acts and is an asshole who just like to mock people while shoving his opinion on anyone throats, are our opinions less valid than anyone else because we are from a blog that dedicates to criticize Bores?, not to the guy has done much harm in the past.
Look at what happened to HardcoreKid, and how Asa used him as a scapegoat and berated him and humiliated him just because of his original video when he called asa on his crusade against AVGN which most of it was juts blind hate,
Look at the TGWTG Suburban Knights Fiasco, when he accused the place of horrible shit that he dint even knew it was true but acted smug like it was and used as ammunition for his cause agaisnt them and turn out to be just him jumping the gun.
We cant forget that, nor ignore it.
Also how do you know it was any of us that false flagged his video, because the guy assumes it was us, because is the easy think to think?, really?, i for one watch his video and i dint flag it, i never tough you out of all people will jump to conclusions like that.
Plus, if you know Youtube, you would know already that their flagging system is probably one of the most flawed of the internet, if not the most, because people can actually impersonate companies or even other users and YT will not bother to verify that, this is something that STILL happens to this day, and please, dont think that this is just paranoia or something, its true, look what happened back in 2010 to a couple of group of friends (both in Bigal2k6 and RandomDCE circles) when they got false flagged by random trolls impersonating others companies and filling bogus copyright claims, or even impersonating some users within their circles and causing chaos in between.
DeleteLook at the YTP community when random trolls and stupid kids would false flag YTPs like it is just a game.
heck, there was even a YTP making fun of how incompetent YT is when it comes to their flagging system.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f8deAVexQfs
I am sure that NONE of us will not know the implications that is false flaggin sir.
@Kiki Qhualqon
Delete"Is not just his opinions based on pure conjecture, prejudice and gun jumping,"
Coming from the group people who call someone they don't even know a bad parent and dirty fat bastard.
Classy.
@Doomguy:
DeleteNow you're just generalising. What makes you think that we as a group believe that?
Sure, he could lose some pounds, but using that as an argument is weak. And who cares about his private life? He might be the best dad in the universe, but that still doesn't excuse his online behavior.
@Kiki:
That Kickassia incident sure was hilarious...
Anyways, I know YT has some lax standards, but I didn't know it was THAT bad.
There is a possibility that the video got flagged by some jackasses who just want to fuel the flame war. But it could've also been one of us "fanboyish, circlejerking retards" (to paraphrase the mature opposition). In that case: Really, guy(s)? That's not helping.
@Doresh If it doesn't matter then why do people use it to insult him calling him a dirty fat fuck?
DeleteAnd how is his behavior bad? OH MY GOD HE DID A MOCK VIDEO! It's the internet people bitch at each other everyday, this blog is all about bitching at one guy and suddenly Asa is a big bad asshole because he has a Linkara video and he's been mocking AVGN on his channel. What has he done other then reply to the haters and hurt the writers ego by saying he thinks the AVGN isn't a prophet or some shit.
@Doomguy:
DeleteBecause it's an obvious (though not very clever) insult?
And what's with Linkara? Is this whole thing getting even crazier or what Oo ?
@Doresh
DeleteI get the fat jokes but not the "OMG YOU DIRTY BAD PARENT JOKES". Linkara was just an example off the top of my head.
@Doomguy:
DeleteDon't get that either. Not really the kind of insult you should use if you want to be taken seriously.
I was going to go to Asalieri's channel and watch the video criticising this blog, but it apparently got flagged because the latest one is just Asa mocking it and pinning the flagging on them.
ReplyDeleteWhile flagging a video is not the best thing to do in response (even though it probably wasn't BatDan or anyone here), this latest video just makes Asa look even more like a jackass that he usually does. So congratulions to Asalieri, for making himself the primo douchebag of my day!
Wait....Asa claims you guys flagged and took down one of his videos. Is this true?
ReplyDeleteThis sucks. I wanted to watch a single goddamn Asa video for once, and then it get's taken down -.-
DeleteI'm not an expert, but isn't it weird how quick this got taken down?
More importantly: Is there a way to find out WHO flagged the video? Cause I'm not sure if all flaggers were on the same site...
I really hope no one here did that. We really don't need to give him that kind of ammunition, and while I don't like the guy, people who false flag are still way worse.
DeleteI think it was the general public. I only successfully flagged one video. A Jaakko vid that showed gay pornographic art. They're still pissed about it.
DeleteAnother thing: Comments on his new video accuse this blog of "circlejerking" Um, aren't they doing that too by complimenting Asa and bashing this blog?
ReplyDeleteNow here's something interesting I'd like to point out:
ReplyDeleteKickstarter and similar sites are becoming more and more popular for indie-roplaying projects, usually of the old school variety - yet nobody calls them e-beggars. I wonder why...
I've been wondering about this as well. So far, the only Kickstarters that haven't been bashed as e-beggars are the video game Kickstarters, like Wasteland 2, Shadowrun, Double Fine's adventure game, or even the Ouya.
DeleteWhether it's because many of these Kickstarters have noted industry people behind them, or this really is a case of TGWTG/AVGN haters seeking out an opportunity to attack their targets is something of an interesting matter.
Then again, Asalieri has accused Feminist Frequency, Penny Arcade and the BronyCon documentary as e-begging, so this is unlikely to be just an opportunity for him to bash TGWTG.
Right, the video game Kickstarters! Why's nobody accusing them Oo ?
Delete...
I feel like this Anti-Kickstarter crusade is just like Ozzy's Internet Hit List... -.-
One can only hope that they'd run out of steam after two entries too.
DeleteEh because it's not e-begging? They actually have to pay the devs to make the project a reality whereas a repo cart doesn't cost 60$ nor does a DVD cost 50$ to produce.
Delete@Doomguy:
DeleteThere's also the extra merchandise stuff that goes with the repo cart, but still, it's a pretty high price.
And what DVD are you talking about? James' movie Oo ?
Doomguy: The way you phrased that gives me the mental image of somebody pondering going to buy a movie on DVD, and then deciding instead to buy a blank DVD-RW instead, because it's cheaper.
DeleteIs the cost of a DVD or a repo cart all that separates your hated "e-begging" from the rest? Because "paying the devs to make a game" isn't as different as "paying somebody to make a web video series" or "paying someone to run their site without needing ads" to me.
Is there any other news (Other then the Asa/Kickstarter thing) ?
ReplyDeletei am still waiting on that interview with the girl who knew chris from childhood
ReplyDeleteYou know what, I'll get on that.
DeleteI just contacted her about it. When I can post the interview depends on the speed of her replies.
What's so important about some girl who knew Chris Bores from childhood?
ReplyDeleteI thought the whole point of this blog was to shine a spotlight on Bores' web show, not his personal life.
I agree, I don't think we should drag Chris Bores' personal life into this. Attacking his childhood is going a little too far in my opinion.
DeleteOh alright, I won't interview her. If she wants to say anything, she'll say it in the comments. I'll tell her this if she responds.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know, as after five years, Chris has literally said nothing about his life. So I say it's relevant to how he makes videos
DeleteI've he does.
How about this, I'll make it a vote.
DeleteWho wants to see the interview? Yes if you want to know more, no if you think it invades his personal life too much.
No, it'd probably add fuel for Asa, however I won't say I'm not curious.
DeleteA tricky question, but why not? Maybe she has some positive surprises in stock?
DeleteAs curious as I am, I would ultimately have to say no. While nitpicking Bores's online antics is always an entertaining pass time, there's no need to pry into his personal life. Call me old fashioned, but I think we should hold ourselves to some standards. Besides, do we have absolute proof the interviewee is 100% legit? Seems a tad risky if you ask me.
Delete@Kama:
DeleteRight, almost forgot the legitimacy part...
I don't plan to ask personal questions. Except for confirming her identity and that she's real (I've talked to her before, she seems genuine)
ReplyDeleteI'll ask about when they met, if he's a real gamer, what his real interests are, if she knows about Haunted Investigators or other pre-IG videos, and his mom (anyone that calls this too personal, remember she involves herself in the comments, leaving her open).
This seems reasonable to me, as long as you stick to these points.
DeleteThat would sit well with me. A part of me wants to know out of nost fascination and another want to respect his privacy and not look mean.
DeleteI think this way it would work.
BatDan, I've talked to three people who've personally known Bores growing up (allegedly). Only one of them provided actual proof that he knew Bores, but all the stories told by all three of them much match up perfectly.
DeleteMost the stories told pretty much confirm what we all know from his work as Irate Gamer. He never had interest in video games, even when he was young he had poor work ethics and morals, and he always had a huge ego.
Any other info is irrelevant, unreliable, or too personal.
The only interviews here should be from Bores himself, or people who can provide info relevant to his "creative" work, not his personal life.
I vote no on the interview.
I think the interview would be interesting, but I'm against it for two reasons:
Delete1) We'll probably be told what we already know.
2) Probably too personal.
Just a random thought. Remember when Ashens did that Proxy thing of his, which was basically a Sci-Fi mini-series with a large amount of Alienware product placement? Why didn't anyone call him out on it? I know product placement isn't quite on the same level as asking for donations but some of Ashens' subscribers were a little annoyed at him 'selling out' (myself not included). Likewise remember when MikeJ did his Indegogo thing for his 'Nerdquest' film and managed to get Ashens and FilmBrain to ask for donations as well? Why didn't Asa call them out? Does he just like Ashens? (If so then he has very good taste)
ReplyDeleteNow I don't hate Asa, he seems reasonable in my correspondence with him and I think some of you guys go a little bit overboard over him (he is after all, entitled to his views, even if I don't agree with them). However I will say he does seem a bit eclectic in his choice of targets.
There's possibly two factors to do with that.
DeleteOne is that Ashen has very few videos on TGWTG, and usually does his own thing on his YouTube channel instead. People like Asalieri probably don't associate him with TGWTG, and so leave him alone.
The other is that despite the Alienware plugging, The Proxy series did have some decent production values and such. That's the defence I think Asa would use to explain why he didn't go after Ashen. The other would be that he probably didn't care at the time.
Because everything Ashens make is gold, The same with Guru Larry, Roo and Nasaware TV.
Deleteif you are not a long time reader from this blog, trust em, you really dont know the kind of hell Asa has done in the past.
Deletetrust me.
oh BTW, Asalieri lies to his followers, saying that the reason why we bitched about him this time is because of him defending Bores Spoof, AND NOT, because of him targeting Jewwario, and even then, why the hell you should defend Bores spoof when you know his intentions?.
Even though you guys DID bitch about him defending Bores, and haven't mentioned JewWario AT ALL!
DeleteI admit, my knowledge of Asalieri extends only as far as "he did a few decent videos in the past, then he went on a vendetta against TGWTG/AVGN", plus some half-remembered stuff from Encyclopedia Dramatica, which I usually take with a grain of salt.
DeleteThough I am surprised that he would go as far as to defend Chris Bores. Especially because I see a lot of Chris' e-begging spoof sounds a lot like Asalieri's joke fund he put out in response to the Escapist's IndieAGoGo page to bring Yahtzee to Pax.
@Jordan Ranger:
DeleteLook a few comments above you, especially starting with August 15.
Though it seems like Justin is obscure / niche enough to avoid a real flame war.
Sorry, my bad!
DeleteWell Asa said he didn't go for Ashens because he doesn't watch his stuff.
Delete"Yeah, I hadn't heard of that Ashens project. If I had, I likely would have called it out as well, I don't discriminate. Hell, I only get to hear about these projects when my viewers themselves tell me."
So product placements in a video are just as bad as ebegging? Do you even know how funding goes? Money doesn't mysteriously appear from nowhere. Christ, I highly recomend you don't watch any more hollywood movies as the product placing in those would make your head explode!
DeleteAnd for the record, The Proxy wasn't Ashens creation, it was an advertising campaign that the company that owns Ashens channel initiated. And it would be pretty fucking stupid to raise a kickstarter for an advert wouldn't you think?
Also. You are quite literally the most two faced person ive ever seen fattoler. You're a fan of Ashens, you didn't agree that he was "selling out", yet you run to Asa to tell him all the poo poo things he's doing and saying he's a douche for them, then asking him to make a video on him about all the things you apparantly don't think he's doing. Do you even listen to yourself???
DeleteNot exactly something a fan would do is it Fattoler?
After some deliberation and objections, I will NOT do the interview. If STELLA77 has anything to say, she'll say it in the comments.
ReplyDeleteWell this is interesting. Lady Buggin just posted this - It's pronounced, "Boris." She was replying to someone who was making fun of IG's last name. I guess I've been saying it wrong for all these years.
ReplyDeleteJust watched one of the E3 videos and Chris did say Boris. Maybe she really is his mom...
DeleteI've known that it's pronounced "Boris" for years. I just don't care. Most people don't.
DeletePlus, I sometimes hear Bores pronounce it "Boars" in his E3 videos.
Considering some birds have better linguistic skills than Bores, it's not that surprising that he has trouble pronouncing his own name.
Delete@lordlaharl:
DeleteNot only his own name. Don't forget his efforts to be known as the "iRate" Gamer (but I don't know whether or nit his fans started this) ...
That was his fans. No clue how that got started.
DeleteMy guess is some dumb kids didn't realize that "Irate" was a synonym for "angry" and thought it was an iPod related pun.
Never mind that until I Rate the 80's, he never actually rated anything.
That, or a few of his earlier fanboys being overly defensive about the "AVGN ripoff" accusations.
DeleteBetter than the way ForFun808 used to pronounce it: Borease. Not Japanese but Borease.
DeleteEven then, it still took a few episodes of I Rate the 80s before he actually rated things.
DeleteI love Greg's newest comment on his kickstarter page subtly hating Chris calling him a no life hater who wants attention giving out cheap shots.
ReplyDeleteWho is Greg? And which kickstarter?
DeleteGreg Pabich, the guy running the Cheetahmen II Kickstarter.
DeleteI have seen James' second part of the Super NES vs. Genesis retrospective; and I enjoyed it. I mean, just reading about the History of Video Games entries Bores made got me sleepy; and James was really part of the conflict going and gave perspective from now and then using his old home movies. And the videos came out very quickly too, other than having to wait months for a new entry. My thought on the debate is this: I grew up playing the Genesis, with Sonic, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, and Vectorman; but I've grown more accepting of the Super NES in recent years.
ReplyDeleteI'm more of a SNES man myself, but I love both systems, and I was glad that Rolfe gave the Genesis credit where it was due.
DeleteBatdan, Are you going to release your Redux Recap?
