I feel like I've just been vindicated.
You may recall my "Captain N" theory about Chris correct? Here's a reminder. My theory is that Chris didn't play video games growing up, instead he watched those terrible tie-in animated shows like the Super Mario Bros. Super Show and Captain N.
I've gathered evidence overtime supporting this. He calls Bowser "Koopa" (which is his name in Japan, but in the states it was used for the Super Show), his use of Eggplant Wizard in the Tetris review (a completely disposable character if not for Captain N), he called Pit "Kid Icarus" in his Smash Bros review (Captain N made the dumb mistake of calling him Kid Icarus instead of Pit), and he hoped to see "Nintendo characters" like Mega Man, Simon Belmont and Bomberman in the next Smash Bros (the former two being main characters on Captain N... at least the Mega Man prediction came true). He also has a weird obsession with Simon Belmont being the only protagonist in Castlevania, like when he went on a rant about Harmony of Despair not including him (prior to the DLC) or how Portrait of Ruin didn't have him. I have to imagine that's not from playing the games, but from watching Captain N.
Welp, I think I got a huge piece of evidence. Over at his site.
He wrote up a post about Little Mac being the newest Smash Bros character (Slotaku), and in the text he brought up that he wants to see King Hippo too (that's not gonna happen) and hopes that Eggplant Wizard is in too for the "old school Captain N fans".
... Yeah...
Chris, you do realize that most "fans" don't really like the show now right? They watch it and see a complete insult to some of their favorite games, and atrocious animation. They liked it as kids because they were kids, and kids are stupid. Captain N's nostalgia value is really low, not even close to the levels of Batman, TMNT or Power Rangers.
But yeah, I think that only further proves my theory. I may feel vindicated... but I don't like it.
You know, I'm glad Chris never reviewed Kid Icarus Uprising. Otherwise he would whine that Eggplant Wizard isn't an important character, just a normal ass enemy. Even though that's exactly what he was in the first game, only being "popular" because of Captain N.
Here are better Kid Icarus characters that would fit in Smash Bros. Palutena, Magnus, Amazon Pandora, Arlon, Phosphera, Medusa, HADES! And maybe Viridi.
Meanwhile on Facebook!
A fan asked about Dark Souls II. He responded "I'll check it out"
Hahahahahahaha oh wow
Honestly, I would actually pay money to see him attempt Dark Souls II. Just to see all the failure come forth. Chris has no idea what he's in for if he tries it. Knowing him, he'll probably casually ask GotGame for a free copy, they won't give it to him, and he'll forget about it after buying more Skylanders.
Still, that would be hilarious.
UPDATE: He posted an article about the Koopalings in Mario Kart 8, and it only furthers to serve my theory.
He calls them the "Koopa Kids" then acts surprised that they're "now" called the Koopalings, and that he refuses to conform.
*sighs* The Koopa Kids were their names only in the cartoons. In the games it was always the Koopalings, and they were sort of considered Bowser's kids until Miyamoto retconned it a few years ago.
How can anyone think Chris is legit?

Holy shit I hate Captain N. Can you see why Bores likes it? He's a bit of a manchild. All of a sudden, him applying himself to that "silly Skeletor, He-man's for kids" line makes perfect sense.
ReplyDelete$100 says Chris is gonna have a Captain N-esque plotline in his ridiculous story arc.
ReplyDeleteYou owe me 100 bucks
DeleteI actually still enjoy Captain N
ReplyDeleteI remember watching Captain N when I was a kid a few times. I hated it then for what they did to Mega Man, and I hate it now for the overall terrible quality of it, which I only noticed recently after rewatching a couple episodes.
ReplyDeleteAlso on IG's website, he included a post about Bowser's 7 Koopalings ("Koopa Kids" as he calls them) being playable characters in Mario Kart 8.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I'm not surprised given his love for old-school Mario games and their "exclusive" enemies. In fact, when I watched the trailer for Mario Kart 8 during the Nintendo Direct video yesterday afternoon, I suspected, from the first moment I saw the Koopalings in the video, that Bores would approve of them being playable characters.
"Koopa Kids" is what the cartoon calls them. More evidence to my theory. They were always called the Koopalings, that isn't new like he thinks.
Delete"Koopa Kids"
DeleteGreat. Even more support for the DiC cartoons. Hey, Bores, you do know that all those shows were bought out by the producers of My Little Pony (DHX Media), right?
That should shut him up. :)
Eh. It's one of those shows I'd consider "So Bad It's Good", from what little I've seen of it. How Bores takes that show at face value, I will never understand.
ReplyDeleteI didn't even know of Captain N's existance until 1998-99, when I was about 11 or 12 and it had been almost a decade since they stopped producing new episodes.
ReplyDeleteTo me, Captain N has always been the quintessential example of a great idea executed terribly. So much so, that I really want to make a web fan comic based on it someday, once I can find a suitable artist to collaberate with.
Considering it's supposedly the end product of a show that was originally based around Paperboy and characters from games coming to reality, maybe the quality of Captain N's not so surprising.
DeleteTo be fair, the comics based on Captain N were pretty cool, because they had stories that didn't talk down to kids so adults could enjoy them as well, and we even got to see Samus fighting alongside Kevin.
DeleteOn a side note:
ReplyDeleteCongratulations everyone, we have hit 300 members!
How assholes like Krataskull continue to defend Bores's slimy ass (even with all the evidence presented) baffles me.
ReplyDeleteIn all honesty, with everything that's been pointed out about Krataskull the last little bit, I find it hard to believe that Bore's wants anything to do with him.
DeleteWell, the thing about him is that he is actually a whole lot worse than bores. He is flagrantly racist, completely homophobic, and a complete hypocrite. Seriously, it isn't about him covering up for bores but the other way around. Buggin said before that she hates bronies because she has the old furry mindset, that is the only way I can think of putting it, but here is the thing his old avatar was of Twilight Sparkle, I actually learned her name now, well let's just say it was either borderline pornographic or completely.
DeleteHating bronies because you don't like furries is like hating fruit because you're not too fond of oranges. Yes, SOME bronies are furries, but not ALL of them. Personally, I'm not a brony, but I at least don't hate them because of petty, stupid reasons.
DeleteNot really what I was going for. The reason I don't just go out and say what it is is because it is not a very comfortable topic for me. No, what I was going for is more about the reason's people hate furries which is what buggin uses on bronies.
DeleteYou should check out his comment he just left on Bores page, where he literally showcases just how much of a hypocrite he really is.
Delete@Micharion Ah, I THINK I know what you mean.
DeleteLike I said, if there's any HUGE problem I have with bronies, it's that some of them can be disrespectful to fans of other shows the Hub puts out. Especially on shows that don't fall into the same category as MLP: FIM.
DeleteWell I am not surpized, when it comes to it does he mention any game that he played as a kid. For example I found out about Shin Megami Tensei when I was thirteen by seventeen, Persona 4 rest on my shelf as one of my favorite games of all time but I could at least talk about length about the series that is still overlooked but with Chris we get nothing, no passion, no Idea and no purpose. We do however get the type that wants to pass the tiniest of falws of a game as game breaking issues. Side note, my favorite line read from him is "ahhh Tetris the Soviet mind game,".
ReplyDeleteAnd let's remember folks, Chris keeps complaining Nintendo is too kiddy, but jumps right on and hypes any Nintendo news coming out. He's still yet to make an article talking about the PS4, XB1, or any games being released on said platforms beyond that article about the gold XB1.
ReplyDeleteHell, with his recurring mentions of comic superheroes I'm surprised he didn't make an article about Arkham Origins Blackgate getting an HD release on XBLA. Then again, he didn't know about Blackgate at all until months after it was even announced, so maybe I should just keep my mouth shut.
To be fair, I'm impressed Chris hasn't written a Nintendo is doomed article to fish for hits.
DeleteOr has he?
@DavCube Not to mention, he doesn't make articles on the Vita when it comes to handhelds, just the 3DS. He doesn't even make anything related to the PC, iOS (except for that god-awful game Mad Media Labs made for him), or any budget console of this generation (like Ouya).
Delete@Andoc SHH! Don't give Bores ideas... ;-)
I'm glad he hasn't even reviewed Origins yet, let alone Blackgate.
DeleteSeriously, if you look at one of his E3 videos, how does he mis pronounce Origins in such a weird way ("oh-RIDGE-ins" instead of "or-i-gins")?
"The Koopa Kids were their names only in the cartoons. In the games it was always the Koopalings, and they were sort of considered Bowser's kids until Miyamoto retconned it a few years ago. "
ReplyDeleteARGH.... sorry, that's still a REALLY sore spot for me. I wouldn't MIND it so much... except for the fact that they were replaced as his children by the single most annoying little shithead in video game HISTORY. I don't say this often (ish), but I wish Bowser Jr. would get run over by a steam engine repeatedly. Hmm... now there's an idea... *goes off to play Mario Kart DD*
WOW. Only now does Bores realize they are called Koopalings and not Koopa Kids? I'm not a huge Nintendo fan and even I know they are supposed to be called Koopalings. He really is a frog living under a well.
ReplyDeleteAlso, I would LOVE to see Bores play Dark Souls 2. It will be the funniest IG Neo episode ever made (Unintentionally of course). XD
I can see King Hippo as an assist trophy, but I highly doubt he'll be actually playable.
ReplyDeleteIf there are two characters that I am surprised have never appeared in any Smash Bros. game to date, it’s Lolo and Lala (Lololo/Lalala in the Kirby games & Fololo/Falala in the Kirby Right Back at Ya! [Hoshi no Kaabii] anime show).
DeleteConsidering the Lolo games were made by Hal Labs and released before Kirby made his debut, I'm surprised we don’t see Lolo or Lala in many games (aside from Kirby's Dreamland, Kirby's Avalanche, Kirby Super Star, Kirby Mass Attack, and, recently, Kirby: Triple Deluxe.
I feel they should be in a Smash Bros. game, at least as an assist trophy/trophy/sticker (etc.) if nothing else.
One thing that I didn't like about "Captain N" is that his Zapper is the most broken thing ever. I mean, it can one hit death "Castlevania" and "Mega Man 1" bosses for some reason.
ReplyDeleteIt's simple, because they look so different than their games counterparts that they were defeated in one shot.
DeleteAnd with the Power Pad belt buckle, he's pretty much got the equivalent of a Game Genie handy. If Kevin got included in the new Super Smash Bros. (who is by far, a wild card pick); his Final Smash would probably be a combination of those.
DeleteAbout his Haunted Investigation movie, I would imagine Bores and co. going to Hoia Baciu Forest or Aokigahara, if they have enough money for either of them. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteMoney? TIG? Ha!
DeleteYeah I remember being a kid and thinking, "Man their interpretations of the characters are all wrong". Which says something since I was 7 and I should have been thinking "Video game cartoon! YAY!" but instead I was annoyed with Mega Man's smoker's voice, Kid Icarus' speech impediment and Simon's whatever the hell he is. And this was before I really had a strong connection to those characters.
ReplyDeleteYour theory is probably right. This is where Bores learned all he knows about video games.
It helps (a bit) that King Hippo (unique design) and Eggplant Wizard (incredibly frustrating enemy) are pretty iconic to their series. Still not going to see more than a trophy or sticker, of course.
ReplyDeleteThe founder of GameFAQs said in an interview that as a kid he really detested Game Boy. He seemed to have liked it back then anyway.
I've seen plenty of fans complain when a Castlevania game does not star a Belmont (which includes half the Metroidvanias). This makes a bit more sense, but it's still stupid.
Not sure why BatDan called Bores a slotaku; I thought he responded to the news fairly promptly.
News was a day late. Most news sites can get that stuff up within an hour.
DeleteI agree. Assist trophies at the most. I could see some of Dan's other choices as playable ones, but that's of course humoring Boring Man knows who they are. Even though I haven't played the games as much as I'd like, Greek mythology fascinates me, so I want to.
DeleteHe's having a sale:
ReplyDeletehttp://theirategamer.com/theirategamer-com-dvd-and-t-shirt-winter-sale/
That shit still looks overpriced.
DeleteIf Chris ever tried to play Dark Souls, we may have something that could rival DarkSydePhil in the annals of inept gaming.
ReplyDeleteChris would be worse, IMO. At least DSP still has fans and gets views.
Delete"What? I didn't do that! This game is fUstrating!"
DeleteWhich is ironic because both DSP and Irate Gamer have the same tendency to blame the game for their own suckage.
DeleteTo be fair though, Dark Souls is hard if you don't use a walkthrough since the game's open world layout and annoying tendency to hide critical items in tiny out of the way places can screw over players who don't spend hours exploring ever nook and dead end. Bonus points for illusion walls, the crystal cave, counter-intuitive manner of saving solaire and hiding critical equipment information (looking at you spider shield!) as well as very well hidden bonfire locations (you have to literally jump off a random area while having flaming bombs thrown at you to get to the bonfire in Sen's fortress). It gets worse on the pc version, where even the controls don't get explained. I know of the statement "learn to play" but it doesn't apply when you simply don't tell us anything!
That said has anyone seen how not to play darksouls?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5dHz4nYCDdM
Anyone see his two minute neo review of Lego Marvel? Same boring usual shit. We waited months just for this?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure we all have. You can see the recap here:
Deletehttp://irategamersucks.blogspot.sg/2014/01/starting-off-year-with-boring-how-can.html
He just posted it on YouTube yesterday. I forgot all about GottGame.
DeleteIsn't Bowser's Japanese name King Koppa? Sure, the Koppa name are different in Japanese as well.
ReplyDeleteChris Bores sure has a lot of things that annoys me. Like the fact that he keeps whining about Simon Belmont should appear in every Castlevania. So much that Linkara parodied it brilliantly in his April Fools review.
While I'm not a fan of Castlevania, I know the fact that not all Castlevania wants Simon to appear in every Castlevania. I mean, imagine if Tommy is in every Power Ranger series! Does he realized that most peoples want something new?
And personally, I haven't played Kids Icarus yet. I'm saving that for Pokemon Y.
The only Chris I liked is from Symphogear...
Hey I'm a Chris. Don't judge us all by one really bad one.
Delete@BatDanNight - I've seen some Koopalings being referred to as "Koopa Kids" in Mario Party 5, 6, and 7 on the GameCube. But still... Bores really doesn't know much outside of Captain N and Super Mario Bros. Super Show, doesn't he? Wonder if he's seen any of the Sonic cartoons as well, SatAM included?
ReplyDeleteWhile it is true that the Koopa Kids (Red, Green, and Blue) were in Mario Party 5, 6, and 7, they don't bear any resemblance to the other Koopalings from Super Mario World and the New Super Mario Bros. series. I feel that Koopa Kid (a somewhat-original character) was just thrown into the games in order to both serve as a playable character and provide an opportunity for the addition of a single-player mode. After all, Koopa Kid has not made a single appearance since those three games, most likely due to Bowser Jr. replacing him.
DeleteDon't get me wrong; I do still enjoy Mario Party 5 & 6 for Gamecube (7 not as much though).
Ah... okay. I got you. :-)
DeleteI never liked Captain N, even as a kid. The Super Mario Bros. Super Show was okay, seeing it as an adult I recognize it's pretty flawed. I still with Captain Lou would've been the official voice of Mario instead of Charles Martinet
ReplyDeleteBTW, how would fans react if Charles Martinet's voice for Mario was replaced? Hopefully not on the same level as when Jason Griffith took over for Ryan Drummond as Sonic's voice...
DeleteWell, turns out younger fans of Mario are attached to the voice, so they'd probably be upset.
DeleteI think for a while he was intended as a silent protagonist. He didn't have dialogue in SMRPG, and even though that was a Square game I remember reading that Shigeru Miyamoto requested that Mario be silent.
Maybe having both Mario and Link silent was too much.
Mario doesn't have any spoken dialogue in the other RPGs either. Well, he does have audio voice clips in most of them, but not actual text box dialogue.
DeleteSpeaking of Mario, there's a SH figuarts Mario coming in May 2014.
ReplyDeleteAnyone noticed that Bores hasn't been saying anything on Buggin? There's been nothing on Buggin's channel for two weeks now.
ReplyDeleteI post this and Bores starts commenting again on Buggin. How predictable.
DeleteDoesn't really help her case with her being obsessed with us since one of the comments tries to take a shot at us. Problem is the guy in question has no association with this blog that I know of and that buggin automatically assumes that if someone doesn't like Chris' s videos that it is because they are involved here. Never you mind the fact that I don't dislike Chris's videos but the people he harbors, case in point one of them (I won't name names) goes to just about every Game Grumps videos and basically just whines. Really doesn't help any when one comment blatantly is racist, here is a excerpt of what was said "I guess he was able to see through the developmental disabilities, race-mixing, buck teeth, and see Suzy for what she really is. How sweet." You probably don't need me to tell you what is wrong with that little comment.
DeleteApparently buggin also believes we are on our periods. Even though I would have a pretty good reason to be angry considering how she knows one of the people she associates say's crap like this and tries to say that they aren't racist. In fact, if I was to get angry I would be practically livid considering buggin supports someone who tried to defend apartheid. An act I can't stand for multiple reason, first because most people still believe that all Germans are Nazis so I actively avoid anything that could be considered racist, second because I have a sister-in-law from SOUTH AFRICA who very likely had to live through apartheid, oh and before buggin makes assumptions like the tool she is she is indeed black, third my sister-in-law has a daughter that is also has darker skin color and the fact that some people will essentially treat her as a mutt, oh and buggin your stuff falls flat since not everyone needs to know when there is a new addition to your family. So yeah bores, I will now completely refuse to even humor him with it considering this http://i46.tinypic.com/2ajum83.png, you seriously cannot say that if I am angry that I am not justified in my anger. But of course you will still try and say that I am not because you are a bastard.
DeleteHere's a surprise, Bores actually used his site to post updates about his show! What a concept!
ReplyDeleteNo it's not about the storyline conclusion. Rather it's about the next I Rate the '80s. Coming later this week (even though that was supposed to be when the IG finale was coming out but when has Bores ever been consistent?) It's going to be about the General Mills Monster Cereals. Even though he already did an episode on Yummy Mummy... but this time it's the ones that weren't discontinued.
He also unironically uses the word "groovy". I think he might have issues.
You've been writing articles about him for six years now and you're just now thinking he has issues? :p
DeleteI kid, I kid, seriously, at least this means we'll be getting another article soon at least. That's the only good thing about a new IG video.
Place your bets: How badly is he going to ruin breakfast with inept impressions of Lugosi, Karloff and Lorre?
DeleteBet you a million bucks Bores is going to do half-ass imitations of those guys.
DeleteAlso, he couldn't wait until freakin' October to review the cereals? Seriously? Then again, that's Bores for ya.
Well that's already late! So what was stopping him doing a video on the cereals in October? Late as usual. Also with the return, even though both were nothing like the original versions, Fruit Brute and Yummy Mummy he could have done all 5 too.
DeleteAnd no I don't want to see someone eat half a year old cereal.
Also, just to point out, Bores just called himself Uncle Chrissy on Buggin's page.
ReplyDeleteAlso, make note of the comment where he addresses batdanmn. Can someone explain to me why it is he believes that 50 some year old women talk like that?
Because he is a badfic author. Seriously, that is the only way I can describe it considering how he makes characters, his aversion to anything even closely resembling the English language, and ,well this last bit is subjective at best, complete disapproval of anyone that doesn't like his stuff without question. I say that last one is subjective is that some people you have written badfic do indeed move past it and grow from constructive criticism, bores never will.
DeleteDude, you shouldn't insult someone just for liking Captain N. Some people do have fond childhood memories of that show, so it feels like you're saying that it's somehow forbidden to like the show, which kinda makes you lose some crediblity. How do you know "most" people don't like the show? Do you have any actual proof?
ReplyDeleteUh no where in the article does it say that Chris Bores is an idiot for liking Captain N. It does say that Chris Bores is an idiot for taking the video game information presented in that show as actual fact when the show itself is a poor source of information in terms of gaming.
DeleteOh dear word, Captain N. I believe my description of it when I started using my channel's Google Plus (one of the few positives I can think of for that mandate) was "misunderstanding my favorite Nintendo games since 1989." The liberties taken with the characters and games are controversial to this day. I personally can't say I'm a fan of Mega Man being modeled more after the original game's US box art of a guy who didn't have money for the good Power Rangers costumes and stumbled around rejected Yes album art, or turning Simon Belmont being turned from a vampire killer straight out of Stoker into a narcissistic 1930s pilot; apparently. If he is included, I don't think it will be that affront to the games. Still, I do acknowledge that other heroes exist in the franchise. In fact, I actually prefer later ones like Richter, Alucard, Nathan Graves, and Soma Cruz. John Morris and Eric LeCarde from Bloodlines are pretty cool too. Still, this proves what I've felt for a long time about Boring Man. Now excuse me while I go log lots of time into my 3DS and PS3 to forget about this. Working on the postgame in Pokémon X and Y, beating Yuga in Zelda: A Link Between Worlds (which is good, despite that post you made, Bores. Stick that in your cereal bowl) and my copy of Grand Theft Auto IV With Episodes From Liberty City while I send off for a replacement copy of Grand Theft Auto V. I also "celebrated" the release of the Robocop remake by doing the drinking game with his reviews of those NES games. I fulfilled the conditions very quickly with my Mountain Dew Voltage. Also, the antidote will involve lots of anime, Batman, and Honest Trailers (who made a much better That 70s Show joke by crediting Boddicker as That 70s Drug Dealer). See you around, Dan.
ReplyDeleteWell, the thing about A Link Between Worlds was that he was one of those idiots that thought it was going to be an updated re-release of A Link Between Worlds. Yeah, I know I am insulting a lot of people but seriously this and the Wii U shows just how stupid people can be. Of course, bores excuse for not liking it before it is released falls flat since he only saw the rental shop and one dungeon. Well, actually he only shows the entrance of one of the dungeons. It also wasn't one of Lorule's Dungeons.
Deletehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=grMua1zJP98
ReplyDeleteOh My God! Bores' lack of quality is actually LAUGHABLE again! The Bores we LOVE to hate is back!! :D
And then he deletes the video.
DeleteYou almost had something GOING for you, Chris!!
This comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteWhat was the video about?
DeleteJust as Bores' Facebook suggests, Irate the 80s Monster Cereals. Thumbnail for evidence:
Deletehttps://youtube.googleapis.com/v/grMua1zJP98
What do you remember of it, J. J.? I wouldn't ask except the rest of us may never see the thing.
DeleteOdd that he would delete the video in question but leave up the comment about it being up soon on his "mother's" channel.
DeleteI assume he took it down because his 'research' kept calling it a Post cereal. The opening of the video sets the tone that Post created these cereals in response to General Mills creating cereals with marshmallows in them. The reality (and irony?) is that these monsters cereals were actually all GM cereals. Hilarity ensues as he keeps saying Post re-released them in later years and each box is clearly marked with the giant GM logo at the top of each cereal box.
DeleteHis 2009 'Irate the '80s' about the monster cereals at least got GM right. So instead of staying bad at research, he's gotten egregiously worse.
DeleteI Rate the '70s is more like it.
DeleteNeed I remind everyone that the original Frute Brute was in Pulp Fiction. Also both were originally weak fruit loops with marshmallows and nasty. The latest versions were orange and cherry.
On another topic, a guy named BlazeTheMovieFan (Who you guys might remember) did a video about a month ago about how (according to him) batdan can't take criticism: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bGxIRG0pynE
ReplyDeleteFor the record, that video is from the same guy who dreams about having sex with pokemon and according to him It "feels pretty good". I really wish I was making that up.
DeleteAnd the guy who's blogger profile is still subscribed to this blog.
DeleteAccording to him, he doesn't use blogger anymore, and even after pointing out and proving him wrong, he still stands by what he says.
DeleteSo, I guess he stands by being wrong? Makes no sense to me, but whatever.
Palutena for Super Smash Bros. 4! Make it happen Nintendo! Cause oh my Goddess I love her and I hope she's at least partly bisexual!
ReplyDelete...Err...umm...yeah...what I meant to say was that somehow this doesn't surprise me to see Bores wanting Eggplant Wizard of all characters in the next SSB...also those DIC shows were pretty shitty, weren't they? But oh man how I'd love to see Palutena duking it out in the ring!
I wish there were a way to inject audio clips into this blog. For example: "They liked it as kids because they were kids, and kids are stupid." could use the line from Noah Vanderhoff "Kids know dick."
ReplyDeleteAnother thing, the character designs for Pit, Mega Man, and Simon Belmont may have been inspired by Diaper Man, Tornado Man, and Strong Man from the 1966 superhero cartoon called "The Mighty Heroes".
ReplyDeleteHere's the link to an article on this in case you don't believe me:
http://www.flyingomelette.com/oddities/conspiracy1.html
I am in the group that likes Captain N in a "so bad it's good" type way. I have fond memories of watching it on Saturday mornings and playing Nintendo afterwards. I agree with the other person who said it's a great example of a great idea/premise horribly executed.
ReplyDeleteI never understood why they ruined so many characters. Why make Pit some weird midget with wings with a giant head? Why make Mega Man green and yellow with a 65 year old smoker voice? Why make Simon Belmont some weird metrosexual prima donna? Pit and Mega Man were bad enough, but I'm a huge Castlevania fan and even as a kid I didn't get why they took such a great character and crapped on him that much.
And the enemies. Why make Mother Brain talk like some weird female James Brown? And again, why did they make Dracula so lame in the one episode he appeared?
The first season was so-so, the second was ok too but they introduced that lame Game Boy character. And the 3rd season I don't even count because the already not great animation went to absolute crap levels, plus they shrunk the episodes down to 15 minutes and merged it with Super Mario World.
The comics were actually not bad. I'd love a reboot, but I'm not sure the concept would work now. Or they could make a continuation where Kevin is now 40 and still running around in his lame "N" letterman jacket.
Kids are not stupid, executives who put up crap are stupid.
ReplyDeleteWhat's wrong with calling Bowser "Koopa?" It's his name in Japan. Heck, Super Smash Bros. calls him Koopa when setting the language to Japanese.
ReplyDelete
