Throughout the month, Chris has been posting more "Pursuit of the Paranormal" videos. As in more snippets from the DVD. Despite his claim earlier that the upcoming videos would be from "other investigations" (it's clear these are all from the same place).
The videos are the same dumb crap. Addressing matters that really don't make sense, like the "mass" of a ghost (aren't ghosts incorporeal, as in you can go through them?), or if ghosts are bound by time, and he even prays for them. What is this?
At one point, he brings up an excerpt from the Egyptian Book of the Dead. Chris, do you not understand the purpose of these texts? They weren't writing about spirits, they were the culture's interpretation of what happens after we die. Not to mention it's ANCIENT, long before our time. During a time when they made up stories in order to understand the world. And again, how is a book about Egyptian philosophy supposed to help you in FLORIDA?
I've had comments in the last post bring up how Chris' methods are laughable, and nobody would take him seriously. I think that says it all.
And the views reflect that.

If you are referring to AVGN and the movie fundraiser then you do not know much about video production. Most movies are not funded by directors, producers or executive producers. They are funded by outside sources. The original Evil Dead was a crowd-funded movie just like AVGN. The only difference was that was before public internet so I guess you would just call that regular begging?

DeleteChris wants to be hired on to produce one of his shows with a big budget but he also likes to present himself as an outsider who uses an innovative and unorthodox approach nobody else thought of. With the Irate Gamer he said his idea was to take video game reviews and mix them with his "high" production values (special effects). Remember last year he was on a local news show promoting his film and he even told the interviewers that he takes an unorthodox approach by combining multiple ancient philosophies together.

The problem with ghosthunting shows that claim to be real is that you know right from the start that they're not. I don't know if ghosts exist or not because nobody does, I'm an agnostic atheist who would be happily proven wrong but the point there is I need proof. There is no evidence to support the existence of ghosts or the afterlife, and shows like this don't change that. They're just sensationalist garbage, same as mediums. The only thing that can actually be proven with these is that the people responsible are lying or distorting in order to stay in a job, as happened with Derek Acorah. So all this show proves is that Bores is either an idiot for believing this or deceiving people, things we were already fully aware of him doing anyway.

New ghost video, this time hawking a new DVD (or as he calls it, "Video disc"). This one promises a 60-minute conversation with a spirit, so that comes to about 36 minutes with Boresian number crunching.

I know some of you may be turn off by the Call of Duty franchise but believe it or not, Advanced Warfare may be the first game to actually get my attention. Hopefully, Sledgehammer Games can do a better job than Infinity Ward after last year's atrocious COD: Ghosts.

Deleteoff topic: Did anyone here, who is a WWE fan, got a copy of WWE 2K15 for PS3 and 360? I heard it was disappointing, which didn't surprise me a bit since I was I was not into the hype. I haven't played a disappointing, shitty WWE game since Smackdown 2008, which I wasn't into the hype either.

The roster is horrible compared to previous games (padded with 2 versions of a lot of guys including Alberto Del Rio and 2 Kanes, but they're both masked Kanes), they removed a bunch of creation tools from the 360 and PS3 versions and improved nothing. Pretty much a re-skin yet they seem to be using even worse models than 2k14. Of course everything is outdated, Rollins and Ambrose are still SHIELD etc. 2K advertised this game using CAW models instead of actual in-game models....that's how bad it is. Grab 2k14, it has more options, modes and pretty good roster.

DeleteDuring one RaR that was done on a recently released episode (the Crazy Castle) back when AVGN episodes were still hosted on Gametrailers and they were NOT supposed to be on YT, because many people were uploading the episodes on YT back then, so Mike matei who runs the AVGN channels on YT file a claim, and Asa being Asa, told people that Mike loves censorship and he is just as bad as the bores (irony considering what happened later), and the same happened with the ROB episode.
Asalieri keep posting the great majority of the content of those episodes too soon despite the gametrailers exclusivity deal, and asa accused mike matei of being a cunt who loves censorship and this was also when David Savage (game boob) was licking's asa's boots, asa of course claimed that they were just reviews and that he did nothing wrong.......
considering how he tried to sabotage the AVGN movie release by spreading the pirated version of the movie to everyone on Facebook and even made a troll riff commentary, and still had the guts to "review it".
I never hate Mike Matei. Sure he posts some videos that weren't very good in the past, but he has changed since. I still like his video game reviews and I still respect him as a great artist.

Finally? The game was released earlier than scheduled.
ReplyDeleteAs for the game, it's pretty good. I like that Scott changed the gameplay up (a Freddy mask in place of doors), and got creative with the new animatronics in terms of game mechanics, the music box being one example. And I appreciate a game with a good sense of challenge. The sheer volume of animatronics means that you don't have a quiet moment.
However, there are some issues. The jump scares are lacking, and it's possible that i'm used to FNAF by now, but they just don't have the same energy (I'm looking at you, marionette). Also, the sheer number of animatronics weigh the game down; the first game worked well in this regard because the four animatronics (5 if you count Golden Freddy) were easy to keep track of and felt distinct. The choice of having 11 active animatronics means some of them start to feel interchangeable, especially when the pace of the gameplay requires that you shift focus between them quickly.
But at the end of it, the game is fun, don't get me wrong. And boy, it has some teeth when it comes to challenge. I only nitpick because I care.

DeleteSeems to me like the Puppet is more like a replacement for the original power mechanic than an actual enemy, seeing as how it's something that instantly kills you if it goes all the way down (evidenced by it not having an AI setting on Custom Night).
DeleteI AM a little disappointed that they seem to have, for lack of a better term, neutered or toned-down Golden Freddy. In the first one he was this bizarre, corpse-like specter that appeared on almost every night regardless of the doors, could only be dealt with in a non- intuitive way, had to be summoned in a unique way, had unique sound effects and a unique killscreen where he crashed your game.
In the second one he only appears on one night, just kinda shows up whenever, is defeated by the mask like everyone else and makes the same sound as everyone. Just kinda feels underwhelming.
And I agree that a lot of the animatronics just feel interchangeable. Like, both Chicas approach from the same side and some of the same areas. What's even the point, then?

Funny that just one month after Chris uploaded the 'Opens up' crap video, all of his viewers go back to saying 'Unsubbed' and 'Please make video game reviews again' in the video comments.

DeleteI'm watching Bores' History of Video Games Part 6 now. All I can say is... UUUUUUUUGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! He doesn't know that the "buttons" on the console are actually switches, and he's back to using the old "For over 35 years..." intro. Oh yeah, and more Big-Lipped Alligator Moments (one being where Bores flicks the reset "button" and says "the reset button" four times, which got annoying real quick).

His technical skill remains strong, I suppose his comedy acting is at least workmanlike, and the "Jack Black" joke is one of his better efforts: It was quick, unforced and not some kind of desperate stretch- he only swapped the word order.

The year everyone was walking!), over-selling the concept of interchangeable cartridges (Wait... you mean if I don't like the game, I can take it out and put a new one in?), I'm pretty sure VCS owners looked into what Video Olympics was before buying it, "4-Player Pong" (not a feature of Video Olympics), over-explaining that you can cycle through game variations by using the "game select" switch, the weird explosion/spit out foam chunks gag, and look, dude, Basic Math is obviously for kids.
