The other day, Bores posted on Facebook an "angry" post about how one of the stars of the new Men in Black movie "Men in Black: International" is a woman (played by Tessa Thompson), saying it shouldn't be called "Men in Black" now.
That is monumentally stupid Chris. Also, there's been plenty of women in the MIB series. The first movie ended with Linda Fiorentino's Dr. Weaver becoming Agent L. While she was written out for the sequels, she was a mainstay in the animated series. The third movie reveals that the head of the MIB is a woman (played by Emma Thompson, who is reprising her role for the new movie). Just because their organization has "Men" in the title doesn't mean it's exclusively men. How dumb are you Chris?
Thankfully, most of the comments called out how stupid that was. He got more comments for that post than he normally does.
This next part though, isn't so funny. The other day I got an e-mail telling me about an interesting comment left on CommonNonsenseMedia's documentary about Bores.
Take what's about to posted with a big grain of salt.
A user named Brittni Abernathy stated that Chris is a douchebag in real life. Her fiancee was married to Chris' current wife (Nicole) prior to this. It seems Nicole went up to Brittni in her car and slapped her, a fight broke out, then Chris grabbed Brittni and punched her. Brittni's fiancee went after Chris, and something happened and now Chris is paranoid and keeps a bat by his door.

The person that e-mailed me did a search on Brittni Abernathy and found her in Toledo, where Bores currently lives.
Now of course there's a lot of info we don't have. What prompted this event to happen being a big one.
I'm not going to distrust her, this doesn't seem like something someone would make up, especially for a fallen "star" like Bores. But always, ALWAYS, take these stories with a grain of salt.
I'm bringing this up as a warning, that Bores could likely hurt others out there.
From all this, and past comments like his initial thoughts on the 2016 Ghostbusters and a post on his old site where he thought Cammy from Street Fighter would be pregnant and raising kids, I get the feeling Bores has issues with women.
We know he worships Alex Jones, we know he supports Trump, and from some research into his family, he was likely raised in a super-religious household that probably instilled a lot of outdated values into him. Including the idea that women are inferior and should be treated as such. While it's still possible to change for the better, I think someone as stubborn as Chris is stuck in his ways. All I can say is be careful people close to him or his family.

ReplyDeleteHollywood and the movie industry at large has definitely been pushing the whole toxic masculinity, pro-feminist agenda as of late especially in sequels to popular movies. The lead is a strong independent woman who saves the day and the men are either the villains or the dumb, good-for-nothing, incompetent bumbling idiot sidekicks or damsels in distress. We see this in newer Star Wars movies, Ghostbusters, Ocean's 11, and even the new Terminator movie coming out. Don't be surprised if the next Lord of the Rings movie has a lead female hobbit. So MAYBE that's what Chris is protesting, I don't know because I don't know the details of the new MIB movie (I lost interest after the first movie to be honest).
With that said, turning to the whole issue Chris has with women, I'm sure you remember way back in his Zombies Ate My Neighbors video how he was glad to kill the cheerleaders in the game because "every cheerleader in school rejected my ass". My thoughts is Chris was the typical 'nice guy' growing up, most likely had a very close intimate relationship with his mother and his father didn't play a big positive influential role in his life, and because women may have treated him like garbage while they were always falling for the bad boys, the football jocks, etc. he's developed this long resentment for women....
Ted Bundy was the same way.
the only movie your description applies to is Ghostbusters. Despite Rey being a Mary Sue in SW, the males aren't bumbling idiots. Ocean's 11 really had no bumbling males, unless you're really counting all the attendees as idiots. Terminator HAS always had strong female presence in all the films. Same with Alien.

ReplyDeleteI always felt that Chris was home schooled (it makes sense if he was raised over-religiously) and at the same time is probably on the autism spectrum (yeah I know some of us are on it too but no two autists are alike) which can explain why he is so closed minded and socially awkward. I don't think he was around a lot of women other than his family members and like you said was probably raised under traditional gender roles so he assumes that all women are treated that way.
You know... I've always thought he was also somewhere in the autism spectrum due to the amount of years he's been making videos. I think anyone else that has been criticized as much as he has would've stopped a long time ago.

I think Chris has often demonstrated that he has some kind of issue with women. Remember how he portrayed Storm in his X-Men review? Remember him perving on female characters in games? Off the top of my head I cannot think of a single IG episode where a female character was portrayed in a respectful manner. On top of that Chris has been known to make bizarre comments about women such as girlfriends being interested in Target gift cards and downgrading his ex-girlfriend to a fellow investigator in Ghost Hunting 2.0.
ReplyDeleteI don't think Brittni's comment is a lie. She has absolutely no content on the account she used to make that comment and doesn't gain anything by extra attention. That said, for Nicole to simply walk up to Brittni and slap her shows there is a lot more to this story (not that we need the details' it is between them).
With all of that said, it is pretty damn funny that Chris is not only raising another man's children but also keeps a baseball handy because he is worried about a confrontation with that guy. The Bores family is just the gift that keeps on giving.
Brittni should just go ahead and file a report on him. Maybe Chris Bores can continue his podcast with his new cellmate boyfriend Big Bubba.

DeleteApparently some people have been talking about instances when Vic allegedly made them uncomfortable at conventions. Monica then chimed in on the matter. Apparently there is no real proof of any improper behavior on Vic's part but several conventions have canceled his scheduled appearances, Funimation investigates the matter and another company (Rooster Teeth, maybe?) also cut ties with him. A lot of Vic's fans have come to his defense and reportedly came up with some screenshots of a Facebook group discussing the possibility of photoshopping evidence.
I am not sure what Monica did to warrant terminating her position. If she libeled/slandered Vic then he would certainly have grounds for action. I just haven’t seen evidence of that. If it exists then by all means share it.

It also doesn't help that #KickVic was started by Kaylyn "MarzGurl" Saucedo, who is also a #MeToo supporter.
The way things have been in the past seven years, I cannot see sanity returning without blood being spilled. If it does, I am going to be very surprised.

DeleteThat said, there are certainly some ill-informed and strange people among Vic's supporters. Last weekend I was going through Rial's Twitter history looking for any posts from her that were inappropriate. One person had posted something about using the Freedom of Information Act against Rial. I replied by pointing out the FOIA does not apply here. You'd think it would end there but a very strange person wanted to argue with me about it. Made multiple posts trying to browbeat me and tell me I was wrong. This person then posted a source which only confirmed that I was correct. Then would continue to send multiple posts claiming that I was still wrong but he would not provide any sources as to why - I should do that for myself. Then he took to calling me "Lady" which does not make sense since I am a male. After that he claimed I was defending a woman with multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against her (Rial). I had done no such thing - all I did was note that the FOIA does not apply to that particular instance.
I get that there are bad apples in every bunch and he does not represent the entire community but people like this are not helpful to Vic's case. Especially when they go after people like me who have no bias in this matter.

Also, the whole "Vic molested me at a con/hotel in 20XX" thing has the same problem as Boring Man's claim that James and Mike had sent him a list of demands and that he was guaranteed to win OutNerd... why wait until there was an environment of outrage and not when it happened? DeleteAs a frequent convention staffer, I can personally tell you that the allegations against Vic are completely justified. A ton of us have known that he was a creep for YEARS. I have friends who do professional cosplay who have been molested by him, and I saw one of them reject his advances with my own eyes. I, for one, am glad that he's finally getting his comeuppance.
Delete@Radio White Base - Women often are too embarrassed/afrad to report that sort of abuse right away, if ever. Even in the case of physical abuse, women don't want to call the cops. Unfortunately I have seen 3 examples of this recently, cops come and the women deny things out of fear. It a lot different than having your house robbed, there is a feeling of a loss of dignity that's far different than having a fucking TV stolen or something.

ReplyDeleteMeh don't know if I can fully believe what Brittni said. As much as I hate Chris Bores and he's probably a Trump supporter, I think we need some proof of this. Brittni could easily file an assault charge on Chris Bores (though me saying this is too late now) and she would get at least a police investigation and hearing on this with plenty of police reports to back it up. Heck maybe even get a court hearing for this. If Chris really did that he could be placed on thin ice.
