Summer is approaching, which means Chris might actually make new Irate Gamer content. Maybe... knowing him he'll make two videos and disappear again. Or he'll go back on his promise.
Apparently Chris was "surprised" at the positive reception on bringing IG back. Really? That surprised you? People have demanded you bring him back, and it's a surprise there's a positive response to his revival? You clearly have no idea what your fans want. What's left of them...
Over on Puppet Steve, Chris revealed he finally bought a Switch. In April he posted a video where he unboxed a special edition Smash Bros Switch bundle. Four months after Smash's release. Good job on being timely! I say talking about this months later...
He also bought one of those jank third-party controllers just because it had Mario on it. Chris really is a sucker...
I am curious who he played with since the footage shows a second player.
He also tried to tie Bucky O'Hare in with FNAF. Apparently he really REALLY needs FNAF to carry everything.
His clickbait game is getting worse. Following the live-action Sonic movie's delay, he posted a video with an outright lie of a title "Sonic the Hedgehog Movie Cancelled?!" It also has a "Meme reaction". What the hell does that mean?
He also bought a super-cheap Power Rangers costume to use for videos on PR toys. So he invests a good chunk of change into that Batman costume, but for Power Rangers he just goes to Party City and gets the shittiest looking one. Priorities!
I don't have the fortitude, patience, or even care to go through each stupid Puppet Steve video. Godspeed to those that are.
I'm sure we'll eventually hear about the IG revival. Right?

The only reason I want to see Irate Gamer again would be the chance of another I Can't Believe It's Not DLA video. We know Bores wants to do Metroid and that'll increase the chances of another one.

DeleteHe starts off by saying that Metroid is one of the best Nintendo franchises (I didn't know) and that there are over 15 games in the series, when there are actually only 13 games, Metroid Prime 4 will be the 14th game. Then he starts up the game and incorrectly calls Samus a boy (just to build up to an unfunny joke at the end) and says the game plays like Contra or Mega Man (Another lie) and that you collect powerups hidden across the world map. (I wasn't aware of that) Then he says that not having a map or a save feature (at least we have a password system) is a bad thing and that the game is "too hard" without it. He'll then compare it to other games (the 16-bit games) and how they aren't as fun or something like that and says that it has "ass" written all over it, when compared to the other games (After all, he likes to rehash crap, from his other reviews) Then we get an unfunny joke about the first boss, then a boring 5 minute gaming montage to some crappy hard rock music and unfunny 8-bit sprites doing unfunny things. He then complains about the Metroid draining your health and rehashing the same complains about the eggplants from Kid Icarus. Then he finally arrives and Ridley and well, you can predict what kind of joke he'll make. Finally after beating Mother Brain, he says that the whole boss battle was a ripoff of the final battle from Kid Icarus. During the ending; we see that unfunny joke he was building up to, when Samus is revealed to be a girl (Chris and his sexism with females, ugh) and some unfunny greenscreen joke occurs, then he takes out the cartridge and calls it a piece of [insert vulgar bowl movement/poop joke here] and tries to destroy it with the NES Zapper, after spurting out an unfunny one liner, relating to the game, then some unfunny shenanigans occur, which prevents him from destroying the game, where some 8-bit Metroid sprites attack him and Ronnie the Skeleton shows up and says "Oh my God, are you being attacked by Metroids? Oh this is just great, I love those things!". Then the video ends as usual.
I hope he does more IG eps just so I can read about it here. Your suffering through his garbage content brings me great pleasure.

ReplyDeleteIf the new IG videos are in the "So Bad It's Good" category, then I will probably revive ICBIND. If they reek of half-assed-ness (think Story Arc), then I won't bother.
My prediction is that there won't be any new videos. August will come around and he'll make some excuse about being busy with his family, while he makes a metric shit-ton of Pubba Steve videos.
Who doesn't want to hear the "References Are Not Jokes" bit. That is a good prediction though. Either that or he'll make one Irate Gamer video and complain on how Youtube is changing the "Algorhythms" and complain that their "turning the freaking frogs gay."

DeleteAlso, I remember in a recent review from last year where James made a "rule of three" joke where the 3rd item he listed made no sense, just like Boring Man.
DeleteAs much as I dislike the Screenwave crew, with regard to the current state of the Cinemassacre channel, the blame can only be laid at the feet of James, who clearly doesn't care anymore, and it seems to be a facet of his personality that he cannot say no to a friend.
DeleteRemember, AVGN was originally supposed to be a two-episode show before James moved on to other projects, but Mike talked him into continuing it. Sure, we should be grateful to Mike for doing so, because it gave us great content for years, but the time has clearly passed. James couldn't say no to Mike then, and he can't say no to Ryan now. James keeps AVGN and J&MM (James and Mike Mondays) going because for some reason he feels an obligation to provide for these people who are riding his coattails (Ryan, Justin, Kieran, Tony, and Erin).
When is James going to end this? When he's 45 in a few years and still screaming about turds on his couch, it's just going to look sad. It's not too late to try new things. James clearly has no passion for AVGN anymore and I honestly don't blame him, it's time to let it go.
Given that Chris has near daily output on Puppet Steve, I would think that a new IG would cut down on the special effects and extra characters. Think Chris Neo with more faux "rage". I doubt Chris would be inclined to spend hours on chase sequences like we saw at the end of Duck Hunt - at least not regularly.

DeleteChris obviously. But I’m getting really sick of the Seth MacFarlane bashing. If you’re gonna criticize any from Seth, criticize the TBS episodes of American Dad. It’s gotten a lot worse than Cavalcade and Family Guy’s dork age combined.
First of all, show runner Mike Barker left the series five episodes in due to creative differences and watching episodes like American Fung make it hard to not understand why. By that point roughly 90% of the original writers have either left or were laid off and they were replaced with those with little to no previous work in television, and it clearly shows. The American Dad himself, Stan Smith, has his character get massively shit on, devolving from a slightly more intelligent version of Peter Griffin into an all out clone of him, being just as, if not even more so, dangerously stupid. His wife Francine also became just as bitchy as Lois. And there’s just too much fucking Roger. And need I remind you of that scene of Stan hacking Hailey’s face at SDCC 2017 accidentally being played in front of children?
I’m sorry, but I just gotta come clean. I think American Dad has now become the absolute worst of Seth’s shows. At least Cavalcade had some genuinely funny moments, like Super Mario Rescues the Princess, though I do think things like that Beaver/Vagina sketch could have used a lot more work. In short, IG is less like Cavalcade and more like TBS American Dad.
I never watched any of American Dad but I will look that up later. Cavalcade's skits went from okay to not funny to not fucking funny. The worst of all of them is the one with Fred Flintstone taking a shit for an entire minute but I would not be surprised if Bores found it funny because he also found Pixels to be funny.

Why can't AVGN go back to his roots? He needs to review bad games again like Urban Champion and those first party NES sports games (Baseball, Tennis, Golf, Soccer, and Volleyball) and maybe even City Connection. You know, actual shitty games and not decent or subpar stuff like Pepsi Man or rehashing the same shitty game again like Superman 64, from over a decade ago.

@MacDagard Don’t be surprised if that were true. About 90% of the mainstream internet, if not the mainstream media, (I might just be exaggerating) is left wing biased. Take for example TVTropes.com. I was told on Reddit that ever since that Google Ads purge it suffered through in 2010, administrator Fast Eddie has been very draconian about what goes on the website and doesn’t want to hear any objections, and that includes politics. If you were to edit anything to say something that favors the right instead of the left, even if it’s correct, or if you were to complain about it in the forums, you would run the risk of getting banned and silenced.

I can tell this because my video is getting comments from fake accounts (Likely Chris that's commenting).

Just seems like the pretense is a little flimsy when you talk about comments from Spock puppets when you had a total of four comments. If you want to promote your video then just be more direct. Ask for feedback on the content, the production, ways you can improve, etc.

Delete@Silent Spring That's another reason I'm debating whether to do Game Dude or not. I'll probably get requests to do DSP and it will never happen because Down The Rabbit Hole did a much better job than I'll ever do. I also don't just want to do YouTubers. I also want to do actual famous people that have risen and fell. Like I've thought about doing one on Oasis because there hasn't been a rock band I can think of that risen and fell like them.
DeleteIn my opinion, Game Dude is simply not worth the effort for a Rise & Fall video. He did make an effort to avoid one of Chris' mistakes and actually acknowledge James Rolfe as his inspiration but the Game Dude channel was never really popular. His most notable actions are things that happened outside of his channel and Metokur covered his post-Game Dude mishaps quite well. At best, Game Dude is merely a footnote in the history of YouTube. (Though he did become fairly popular in Canada).

In the comments of one of the Third Rate Gamer videos (don't remember which one), FFL2and3Rocks said that he stopped making Third Rate Gamer videos because he lost interest in angry gaming reviews in general and has no motivation to make Third Rate Gamer videos anymore. So yeah, Irate Gamer still has a small chance of coming back, but Third Rate Gamer is likely gone for good.

Not even two minutes in (of 11:50), he says the Vulture "was in the first Spider-Man movie." I'm not even a Marvel nerd; we'll need one to pick out all the mistakes he's going to make throughout this video.

DeleteTo be fair, it is a much better Spider-Man costume than the one Kyle wore in the AVGN Spider-Man episode. That is about the only positive I can say. It was really lazy of Chris to record his dialogue through the mask and how could he not notice that his nose was bent by the fabric?
DeleteBut I think Chris' ignorance about Spider-Man was the worst part of the video. Spidey does not shoot webs through his fingers. He shoots them from his inner wrist or from web shooters depending on continuity. The Lizard does not wear a trench coat. That was a lab coat, Chris. I think there were a couple of other errors that stuck out to me but I watched it last night and cannot remember. Definitely not going to watch a second time so I will leave it at that.

I had a theory that Chris doesn't want to do IG because he knows we want more and I wouldn't be surprised if that was true. I also have this theory that he's seen my video on The Rise and Fall of The Irate Gamer and doesn't like that my video and Ben Phillips' documentary are above his IG videos when searching for his channel.
