Chris Just Can't Help Himself

I am now convinced Irate Gamer is dead. Deader than dead. Summer is long over and he hasn't given us a damn thing. Why lie though? What was the point? To attract the 20 people that still cared?
I mean yeah, in the first episode of GeekTime he said he's retired, but he's said that so many times now. You can't take him seriously.

So you think the podcast would get more focus now? Apparently not, since it's been over two weeks since the third episode and no updates on a fourth. Hey Chris, question. Why is your podcast not on YouTube? You can easily upload it there. You'd probably get more views than PodBean.
Also, question to any PodBean users. Is it common for there to be usernames that are nothing more than random numbers and letters? I'm looking at the followers of GeekTime and there's some strange names. "vqlmg9", "kqx66n", "dwgzlc", and a few more. Is Chris using bots to boost his follower count?

But who has time for podcasts when you can complain about TV show rebooooots? No not Lost in Space or whatever is on Netflix this week, but Chris still mad about Ghost Hunters. He even said that he wants to do a 50 minute rant video about it. Oooh that sounds like a delightful trainwreck of awful. Even his fans are demanding to see that rant. Has Chris done it yet? Noooo of course not, why would Chris do what people want of him? Have more Puppet Steve you stupid fucks.

Oh yeah, Puppet Steve. He's still doing it. More Baldi, more tiny hard to see Arcades, more Bendy. A new favorite trend of his is fake crossovers. Last month I mentioned his fake crossover with Duddy from FGTeeV, and he's done way more of those. Because kids are apparently dumb enough to not realize he's lying. He also did a fake crossover with the channel Hobby Kids Adventures, and like Duddy it's a still picture with Chris doing the voices. Somehow, it is nightmare inducing.
But that's not what I want to talk about. About 10 days ago on September 19th, Chris uploaded a video on Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled. I bring this up because he says in the title he's going to play the game, and he does... 8:42 minutes into this 10:38 long video. The first 8:41 is about the fucking toys. Because of course it is.

And if you wanted ignorance, oh boy is there plenty. Chris makes it abundantly clear he knows nothing about Crash Bandicoot. First sign of trouble is when he refers to Coco as Crash's girlfriend. That's his sister you sick fuck.
Then as he scrolls through the other playable characters, he just says "this guy" over and over and over again. It doesn't even lead up to a joke or something. A lot of these are easily identifiable bosses from the first three games. Such a shame there's no way to play those games on a modern console right no- oh wait, there is. No excuse, Chris.
So he plays for a bit, cutting between two different courses because he thinks we're idiots.

Now, when you play the new CTR, there's something that happens on the results screen at the end of the race. Rather than the name of the character you're playing as, it uses your handle. Whether it's your PSN ID, your XBL GamerTag, or your Nintendo Network ID. So I figured something was suspect when Chris "won the race" and the name that popped up was "MKIceAndFireNZ". That was weird, so I looked up that name and found a profile full of games that I doubt Chris would ever play. Not to mention his location was listed as New Zealand. So I dropped the NZ part and found that MKIceAndFire is a game-playing YouTuber with over 1.8 million subscribers. I even found the Crash Team Racing video he made. And no, Chris did not credit him in the description, or even act like he got permission.

Once again, Chris is stealing footage. Old habits sure do die hard don't they. Why couldn't Chris just record his own footage? He has the game, it's shown in the video. Was he afraid of showing his PSN ID? We already know it's "irate_g", not that it matters since you put your account in private so that no one can see your trophies.

Sorry if this comes off as weird and sloppy, been fighting a cold off.
That's all for now.

  1. You know the phrase "do what you love for a living?" Chris does NOT love video games. He may have played a few here and there as a kid but he was never a hardcore gamer. Also if he had just listened to constructive criticism he'd still be making Irate Gamer videos and he's still have a fan base.

    1. But he loves toys so he's doing what he loves now.

    2. Does he even love toys, though, or see them as a paycheck? You'd think he could come up with more to say than pointing out the visually obvious if toys sparked some kind of joy in his brain, but every review is "Well, as you can see, old SpongeBob here is square, and yellow, just like he is on the TV show! Hu-hwa!"

    3. I don't even know that Chris truly loves toys. I look at toy reviewers such as Pixel Dan, Peaugh or FormBX257 (all of them primarily review franchises that were hugely popular in the 80s, Chris' favorite decade.)

When they review toys they go over things like sculpt, articulation, paint applications and where the companies could have done better. Chris mostly just talks about how cool the toys are and if we are lucky he might actually demonstrate an action feature. I still believe Puppet Steve was a cynically designed show. The toy review format was chosen because that is an extremely lucrative segment on YouTube.

As for stealing footage, Chris really should have learned from the IG days to at least credit the video source. Remember that time he took footage from Cyberman365 for... I think it was Sonic Generations?

  2. If you look at the stolen footage in the Crash video, you can see MKIceAndFire's watermark, which Chris shamelessly tried to cover with his Puppet Steve logo. What a hack.

  3. Why couldn't Chris just record his own footage? He could have. But he wanted footage of someone winning.

  4. This plagiarism again!? Has anyone flagged his video for copyright yet or informed MKIceandFire of this hack stealing his footage? What nonsense. I forgot that Chris Bores was not just a thief or a hack--he is a hack thief as well! Glad you spotted it, Batdan.

  5. Stealing copyrighted footage again? It's impressive to see how it's been 10 years and Chris Bores is still the talentless thieving manchild he was from 2008. At this point he's probably going to go back to plagiarizing game reviewers again considering how low he keeps slipping...

  6. OT: Just out of curiosity, who are some of the better YouTube game reviewers these days? Other than, say, James Rolfe?

    1. I'll be basic and list Jim Sterling and Yahtzee as a couple of my personal favorites. Yahtzee for being so danged entertaining, while Jim tends to showcase in-game footage for the viewer to see, first hand. Damn if I can't find some decent gameplay in the game's own fucking trailers anymore.

Caddicarus is another. His vids are a little long, but he's pretty overall entertaining, never spending too long on a tangent when he should be reviewing.

    2. Somecallmejohnny, of course! He can not only be comedic, but also very informative!

    3. I've been following GillyTheKid and Austin Eruption for a while. Their videos are a lot of fun.

    4. Tennings, for one. Though he only uploads like one video every two years, he mostly reviews weird garbage games that came from Europe for the PS2 and while his humor's a little more edgy than James', it's still pretty funny. There's even a funny video where he does a parody of people who try to review AVGN, complete with a book: "The Angry Video Game Nerd Guide to Video Game Reviews."

AqualungGameReviews is another good one, while he doesn't appear on camera, he still reviews games that provide detailed walkthroughs to players who may be curious to try the game themselves. Some of his reviews like on Super Pitfall came out way before James even reviewed that game.

    5. Rerez has good retro game & equipment reviews that are sharp on all fronts.

    6. For Nintendo related stuff you could try Scott The Woz or Nathaniel Bandy. For NES stuff you could also try Generation Gap Gaming but that's a bit more obscure of a channel.

    7. I really like to watch Camelot331 and FANTAVISION, although I watch them more for their content about working in retail, specifically at GameStop and Walmart, than their gaming content.

  7. Lol. I knew he would jump into the Baldi bandwagon. Also, he doesn't know anything about Crash Bandicoot? This proves that he never plays the Sony PS1. Playing games for almost 20 years my ass.

  8. Incase any of you are interested, I made a riff on Episode 1 of DSP's Super Mario 64 LP. It's kind of a mix between a TIHYDP video and an ICBINDLA/ICBINAVGN video. I felt this video needed some riff to it because it symbolizes everything wrong with DSP.

  9. Chris has such a massive need for attention. He posted a link to a six month olf article about Midwest Parafest. Chris boasts that he steals the show and brings in as much foot traffic as the people they "pay to be there".

So what exactly does Chris do at Midwest Parafest? The people who put on the event don't use his name to promote the event and they don't specify who leads the ghost hunts. When Chris mentions his booth it makes me wonder if he is just a vendor.

  10. On the subject of the latest podcast - I never thought I would say this but I find Tim to be the more annoying of the two. I think he is trying too hard to be the "Rant Guy" and his so-called rants just feel forced. Not natural at all. He also has this weird high-pitched laugh. Is he trying to channel the Joker with that?
