I'll start this off by saying the only positive thing I can. He actually labeled that this video was sponsored content. Good, you're actually learning. That doesn't stop it from being complete garbage and from everyone else disliking the video and unsubscribing.
Chris looks at another scam app, this one called AppNana. It promises to give you gift certificates and money. RED FLAGS! RED FLAGS EVERYWHERE! I'm reminded of the bloatware he covered back in February. (see here)
He shows the prizes, and these are not good. For Amazon, the most you get is $5 off, and that takes 90,000 points. A $50 Playstation Store card takes 650,000 points. For context, Bores says you get 10,000 free points for signing, and he's gained 400 points since. So like the other app, it's a slow stupid process.
One way to gain points is through referrals. Each account has a code, and if you enter the code when you join, they get points. Yep, Bores is once again trying to exploit his fans for points in a shitty app. What is wrong with you?
Another way? DOWNLOAD APPS! Yep, this is just more bloatware that will more than likely ruin your device. Why do you keep promoting this trash Chris? Are you so desperate for money that you'll take these sponsorships? There's better sites to promote! Talk to Audible, talk to Crunchyroll, talk to an actual company. Though, it's likely they won't talk back considering how badly you shot yourself in the foot Chris. You could have had a great YouTube career, but you squandered it, and it's all your fault.
This video was so poorly put together that he didn't even bother to give it a proper outro. It cuts off right in the middle. This is a level of not caring I haven't seen in a long time.
Chris, find a job. Open a Patreon account. Talk to the sites I mentioned above. DO SOMETHING ELSE! It's clear the fans hate this as almost all the comments are negative and the dislikes are immense. People are unsubscribing in droves. If Chris thinks he can regain the goodwill lost with a new Irate Gamer video, then he's more delusional than I thought.
EDIT: Also, a reminder to download the video in the likely event that Bores deletes it.
EDIT: HA HA HA HA! He deleted the video! That had to have been the fastest deletion ever. I hope someone downloaded it for safe-keeping.
EDIT: Turns out he didn't delete it, merely unlisted it. Normally I prefer not to link to his channel, but since this is something he doesn't want you to see, *link deleted* He has since put the video back up. With a lot less comments. Sounds like Bores' horrid attempt at damage control is to unlist a video and delete all the critical comments. Poor form Chris.

The fail with Bores just keeps growing, doesn't it? Hard to believe that 9 years ago, his video could be considered "so bad, they're good".
ReplyDeleteNow, they're just bad. Chris, if you're reading this, don't be like the Bouzaglo clan and actually listen to the criticism you've been receiving.
How bout mind your own business and not be an asshole with no life, just like this very blog writer that writes shit constantly that's TLDR?
DeleteHow bout mind your own business and not be an asshole with no life, just like this very blog writer that writes shit constantly that's TLDR?
DeleteIt's pretty bad when even the diehard fanboys are telling him his videos suck and to stop them.
ReplyDeleteAt this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Crisbo didn't know what malware is...
ReplyDelete-_-
That wouldn't surprise me; given how he didn't know the Genesis predated the Super Nintendo rather than the other way around, not to mention labeling the Odyssey's design as "crude" despite aesthetics in the 1970s having different standards (not to mention the console essentially being an antique in gaming circles).
DeleteSomething tells me that Activision dropped him, hence why he's doing these apps instead of Skylanders these days.
ReplyDeleteHm, that might explain the lack of Skylanders.
DeleteThey probably dropped him because of his "I don't like gimmicks" comment.
DeleteThat's a possibility; but I won't be surprised if there's loads of videos on Imaginators on just the figurines alone; not to mention gloating about Amiibo or now Lego Dimensions (on the fence about that one still, since some of the sets and starter pack are being marked down where I live. Probably leaning towards getting Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens, since that doesn't need any extra equipment or minifigures.).

Happy Independence Day to those in USA! I don't know about you guys, but it's already 4th of July in Singapore here.
ReplyDeleteThx mang. =D
DeleteOh hey, nice to meet you, fellow Singaporean. I'm from Singapore too.
DeleteAnyways, yeah, happy Independence Day. :D
Ooh, nice. Haha, not exactly Singaporean though. :P
DeleteOh I see. Never mind. ^^;
DeleteToo freaking late! He deleted the video! The latest video on his channel is the GEMR app review.
ReplyDeletehttps://1drv.ms/i/s!AtQFMGC-y0NKgq1kKTTxk9M_DPIccA (It's a screenshot; goes to OneDrive)
Maybe the AppNana people found out about his baggage?
DeleteI googled AppNana and one of the first results was a video on how to hack it to get unlimited points.
ReplyDeleteNext Boring Man will tell viewers to take the Kodak Printer challenge.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with Chris and promoting stuff that people don't care about?
ReplyDeleteHim saying this
Deletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DJHh67f3LaA
^-^
Why does BatDan talk about it? Why do YOU care?
DeleteTwo reasons I can think of why BatDan talks about it and why I care:
Delete1: For filler videos, these are absolutely pathetic.
2: Crisbo is advertising something that could potentially DAMAGE our devices! What makes him think that's a good idea?
>.<#
I used to think this blog was pointless when I first stumbled upon it because I assumed it was just another OMG TEH IRATE GAMERZ TEH AVGN RIPOFF LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL deal, but Dan goes deeper and points out the fraud, corruption and misinformation Chris is responsible for.
DeleteI can still get to the video through this link:
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rh50xdq6V4
PS, can anyone see my comments to the video? My thought is he deleted them because I'm blacklisted, being a regular on this blog and all.
DeleteUnless you have a different screen name there, nope, I cannot find your comments with this name.
DeleteNope, I use this name and icon. He must have deleted. What a fucker.
DeleteSo, just for the hell of it, I just checked my SocialBlade standings, and I noticed something weird. Under network/claimed by, my channel is listed as being owned by Base79. I have never heard of this company, nor signed on with them. Does anyone know what this is?
ReplyDeleteI looked it up on Google. Didn't have a chance to read much but it sounds like it's an organization (possibly affiliated with YouTube) that sneaking steals copyrights?
DeleteAnd yet there are a few comments listing their codes. What a shock.
ReplyDeleteBORES DELETED HIS 200TH VIDEO! I wonder why? It was the video where he was thanking fans and mentioned AVGN at one part and would also talk about stuff he would do in college
ReplyDeletealso he deleted his punch out lets play?
DeleteProbably because since he make the "E-begging the spoof" and "Opening Up" videos where he bashes James Rolfe, he doesn't want people stumbling onto a video where he praises him.
DeleteWhat great karma to happen to Boring Man.
Or because he deleted so many other videos that the count of 200 was no longer accurate.
DeletePoor Chris Bores, never learning his lesson after the last scam app he puts up.
ReplyDeleteHow does it feel joining the ranks of LifeInATent, TheFineBros, Tila Tequila, Keemstar, Sam Pepper and other talentless hacks who only put up videos to publicly whore themselves?
AppNana, that's a name I haven't heard since SophieGTV (another YouTuber) was plugging it a couple years ago. I remember she was also being used to gather support for a web series called Night Owl High, only to delete everything after realizing she was being played like a fiddle. Though unlike Bores, she was only around 16 or 17 when all this happened, so I understand why she wouldn't fully understand scamming through popular YouTubers at the time.
ReplyDeleteAnyone heard about this whole scandal with this guy named Keemstar (known for a channel called DramaAlert). And y'all thought Chris was bad...
ReplyDeleteI know there's worse than Chris out there. Just look up Mystery or any pickup artist.
DeleteI'm unfamiliar with the man; but he seems like a real asshole, based on first impressions.
DeleteHere are some videos that highlights Keemstar's douchebaggery.
Deletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Req_A1i35lA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDo4Ubl6IsI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klE-LATsYqs (0:08 - 1:29)
My word, this is disgusting. Just as I thought, he seems like an utter scumbag. He's going to be very lonely in retirement. Even Boring Man hasn't done stuff this bad (even if the new fans he gained from the infamous "opening up" video have effectively dried up).
DeleteOne interesting thing I learned from the last video is that age-restricted YouTube channels can not be monetized.
DeleteBore's channel targets children, yet has toilet humor, vulgar language, and depicts violence against people and animals. It should be age restricted.
We should all hit the "send feedback" button at the bottom of his page and bring it to YouTube's attention.
Right now there's a petition to shut Keemstar down from YouTube. Yeah, you know you've screwed up HARD when that happens.
DeleteI wouldn't go so far as to call Appnana a scam as I have heard they do pay out. I just don't think it is worth the effort to use these apps because the amount of time it takes to get anything could be put to better use earning actual money (and more of it!) I looked at Appnana rewards and you need 45,000 points for a $2 PayPal reward.
ReplyDeleteOn the downside, I have heard Appnana may be selling out email addresses so don't be surprised if Chris starts getting lots of spam. Also, when you download all of those other apps you are opening yourself up to a slew of permissions. Hope nobody authorizes those apps to access their contacts or read their messages.
Really abrupt ending to this video. I don't think he even finished saying Appnana when it ended. Not sure why he didn't end it with his usual begging for subscribers.
Lastly, there was a hidden referral link in the description so Chris actually tried to exploit his fans twice in the same video. That's on top of getting paid to review the app. Very unethical.
OT: So, it seems there's one last Splatfest happening later this month; and appropriately enough, it will be between Callie and Marie. Going to be practicing till the time comes; and so I can vote on my favorite courses. Also, any fellow Splatoon players on this blog know if the results for the Party Splatfest have been tallied yet?
ReplyDeleteIf you meant Early Birds vs. Night Owls, Night Owls won easily. Also, they're the most popular Splatfest team to win netting 71% of the votes.
DeleteIf you meant Fancy Party vs. Costume Party, then Fancy Party won.
Thank you. My Wii U is hooked up, I'll be sure to get some time in before I sign up. Also, the Callie and Marie Amiibo are shipping soon; I'll keep an eye out (the redecos of the boy, girl and squid can wait for now).
DeleteYeah, he deleted my comment that was a reply to "Shame....Shame....Shame....", where I said don't create the image of Chris walking through the street naked (Game of Thrones reference).
ReplyDeleteOT: I recently rewatched Mike Matei's video where he drew Mighty No. 9 Beck punching OG Mega Man. And, boy, we all know how THAT game turn out. It makes the video feels Hilarious/Harsher in Hindsight depensing on your view on it.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the whole thing seems like a smaller scale version of Duke Nukem Forever's backlash over its development. This doesn't bode well; nor does the new Mega Man show taking all these liberties with the games and turning the premise into another "wake up, go to school, save the world" series. Despite the creators' claims to give it a chance; I think I'll stick with Star VS The Forces of Evil if I want that.
DeleteOff-topic: When I played Mario Kart 8 today, I actually went against a hacker! There is NO way that many Blue Shells can be thrown!
ReplyDelete>.<#
The AppNana review is listed again! What is this guy's pattern?
ReplyDeleteMatPat from Game Theory got to see the Pope, and he gave him Undertale?!? While I don't think it's a bad game, I don't feel like it's the kind of game someone who never plays video games would like to play. The bullet-hell gameplay is way too hard to get used to.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, y'all thought Chris was deep in a bubble before? On his site, he posted an old photo of a movie theater reading "Pirates Knocked Up Shrek." Yeah, because that joke isn't several years old.
ReplyDeleteI always preferred "Kohl's Staples Dick[']s" myself.
DeleteOr other infamous marquees such as "Spy Kids Blow Pokémon" or "Erin Brockovich Screwed My Dog Skip."
DeleteIf he likes ghost hunting that much, maybe I'll like to see him do Dudleytown.
ReplyDeleteHere's a good-looking kickstarter, "Prey for the Gods". It's obviously derivative of "Shadow of the Colossus".
ReplyDeleteI probably won't be donating to it, only because they cancelled the Mac version (even though their engine can automatically build Mac versions alongside PC with no effort. I wonder if there's some platform fanboyism fueling that decision).
Just a little reminder that this spineless, pathetic little shill selling out his few remaining fans, hawking spamware and sucking on the money teat of anyone desperate enough (and stupid enough to not realise that the general consensus of the internet that he is at worst a useless, idiotic hack and at best a mental deficient) is the same man who made 'Ebegging - The Spoof'
ReplyDeletePlease keep Dallas in your thoughts today.
ReplyDeleteMy sympathy goes to the victims and their families.

DeleteJust an idea...could you download these apps but not instal them and would it still count ? It would serve the guys behind this thing right.
ReplyDeleteNot installing them would not prevent the infection with possible malware.
DeleteI was watching some of IG's old videos.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I genuinely laughed (and still do) at Cousin Joey's reaction to Monster Party in that Halloween video. Such irony that Joey, Ronnie the Skeleton and Satan are actually more entertaining to watch compared to IG.
But I guess Guru Larry sorta pointed that out before.
I thought the skit that he did during his Contra review to explain what he thought the backstory is was actually funny, in a way like here's this dumb amateur who just started playing these games sort of way. If he did the review nowadays though, he'd have a retarded padding skit every 10 seconds.
DeleteI find it funny only when Bores shouts out to wake the President, as if that's the only dramatic way to contact the POTUS, at 13:00 Military time at the Pentagon in the same time zone as Washington DC. So you have to wake The President at 1:00 PM? Is there a required nap time for President?
DeleteThe implication, included in the dark setting of the room, is that he thinks it's 1:00 AM.
Is he so dense he doesn't know what periods of TIME is?
Delete^o^
Well he obviously doesn't know how military time works.
DeletePS it doesn't get better if you try to assume that it is 13:00 ZULU AKA GMT either.
Delete1:00 PM Tuesday, Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) is
9:00 AM Tuesday, in Washington, DC
That is one late sleeping US President!
"I'll start this off by saying the only positive thing I can. He actually labeled that this video was sponsored content."
ReplyDeleteI found an article regarding sponsored content in blogs, pretty sure the same rules would apply to sponsored video reviews. I guess both the app developers and Bores could be fined by the FTC for not disclosing that he was compensated for the review. Read here.
This doesn't apply just to these recent app reviews. Compensation includes money but also free or discounted products for review. He's probably violated this regulation for those other product reviews, and maybe even some game and Skylanders reviews.
Someone looks at Amy's Baking Company:

OT: Looks like Pokemon is now reaching the popularity that it had back in the late 90s. I really don't understand the appeal to be honest. I don't know much about the games but I remember watching the cartoon on Kids WB with the Michael Jackson-sounding intro and hung around people who obsessed with things like the Pokemon card game. To me, it always seemed like one of those things that was targeted towards kids aged 3-8 but a disturbing number of adults in their 20s, 30s, and even 40s and beyond obsess over.
ReplyDeleteIt would seem so, given my avatar and all. I can definitely vouch for the fact that with the 20th anniversary in full effect; Nintendo and Game Freak seem to be pulling out all the stops to appeal to older fans like me as well as a new generation of fans. I did finally manage to beat the Elite 4 and Champion in the Virtual Console versions of Red, Blue and Yellow (the restore points being disabled also helped me do it without cheating as well); and I'm also working on filling in the blank spaces in the Pokédex in X/Y/OR/AS. Definitely looking forward to Sun and Moon. So, you've definitely hit the nail on the head; given how I'm working on training for the Sinnoh Classic at age 24 (I'm relatively new to the competitive circuit; but I'm really looking forward to the prospect of Cynthia's Garchomp DLC just for playing) and I do occasionally see kids in public playing with Poké Ball toys. Whatever the case may be; it's definitely earned its place among the likes of Mario, The Legend of Zelda and Metroid in Nintendo's wheelhouse.
DeleteHey. as long as you don't pull a Doug Walker, we're fine with that.
Delete^-^
And point out the scene from Pokemon The First Movie where Ash said that Vikings were from
DeleteMinnesota?
No, not that (that's a reference to the Minnesota Vikings, apparently)! I meant constantly, and I really mean CONSTANTLY, attacking the franchise. It's getting old!
Delete>.<#
It was still a terrible joke in more ways than one.
DeleteNever said it was good! But regardless, as I was saying, as long as you don't pull a Doug Walker, we're fine with what you said above.
Delete^-^
@Ixey. That's the generation gap talking. He and Rob were outside the target audience when it started; and that's where throwing shade at the whole thing comes from. Hell, his review of the movie was the first one I saw; and it got me into NC and the other Channel Awesome personae, as well as inspired me to start my own series. As for that line; personally, I found mixing up some of the Pokémon to be more off-putting (they tried to explain Team Rocket confusing Scyther with Alakazam in the DVD commentary with it being them, and all; but that just called further attention to mixing up Pidgeotto with Pidgeot. 4Kids had many moments like that; they're big reasons why they're no longer in business).
DeleteThat may be, but as of recently, it's like a law that he has to include at least one jab at it. It's getting old!
Delete>.<
I fail to see how mixing up some names is worse than telling a joke that makes no sense whatsoever (Pokemon doesn't even take place in the real world, so how can a reference to an American football team work unless it's a really bad fourth wall joke?) and is culturally insensitive and historically ignorant.
DeleteSo, I heard a rumor about the failure of "Mighty Number 9" that reminds me of "The Irate Gamer Game".
ReplyDeleteWhen the game is sold, royalties go to the software distributor (iTunes/Steam), it's a 30/70 split everywhere I've seen.
If the software is refunded, apparently 100% comes from the developer. I.e. If you sold $10,000 worth of software, you'd only get $7,000. If 50% of your players requested a refund, you'd pay back $5,000, not $3,500.
Supposedly both "The Irate Gamer Game" and "Mighty Number 9" have the distinction of having a refund-to-sale ratio that would have the refunds surpass the developers profit. MN9 is giving refunds to Steam Wallets because they don't have enough profits to refund directly to credit cards.
Actually, while typing this up I decided to give the install one more shot. It didn't work, so I' requested a refund myself. It let me choose to refund to my card so let's see how this goes.
Well that didn't take long.
DeleteHowever, it appears that I could've refunded to my credit card, except my card number has changed since I preordered it.
Maybe now they'll finally come out with a new decent Megaman game.
DeleteWishful thinking there.
Official Megaman? Unlikely, but don't give up hope. Maybe someone will give Megaman the "Freedom Planet" treatment.
DeleteI was looking over IG'S review of DK last year. Nobody seemed to point this out in the recap, but the grunts from Angel and Devil DK are probably the most ear-grating sounds I've ever heard. Is it just me?
ReplyDeleteAh well, no worries fat blogspot writer. Every AVGN fan loves Mike's dick. Unfortunately that's all they have the brains to talk about.. Too bad most AVGN fans must be raging gays.
ReplyDeleteWhy is that too bad, Spiggle?
Delete1: That's not even funny.
Delete2: It's overused to the point of boredom. Seriously, I'm sick of that joke.
Heck, I never joined the "fad" of doing that, and I'm still an AVGN fan. But I guess fans hate Mike, as I recently went on his Mario Party stream (on the chat, of course) and there was like one comment mentioning that near the end, but half the comments were complaints on his girlfriend being there instead of James. Mike just can't win!
-_-
Wait, I thought Mike was married! I know James is... but I guess I was wrong.
DeleteBTW, I fucking hated it when people kept referencing Mike's privates in every single video-- it was especially evident in the Nerd's 12 Days of Shitsmas videos from 2014. I really, REALLY, don't grasp the hatred that Mike's been getting. Sure, he put out a few bad videos (the ones on Minecraft and Elmo spring to mind), but unlike Chris Bores, he's not deserving of an extreme amount of hatred.
And I wish people realized that just because we are critical of Bores' videos does not automatically make us "AVGN dick-suckers"-- there's lots of other good reviewers out there, too. Even ones that don't do "angry style" reviews...
Oh... well, regardless of Mike's marital status, sometimes I think AVGN fanboys are out of control. So what if the nerd's not in there! It's not the end of the world! And those 2 videos you mentioned? Not even Mike is proud of them!
DeleteAnd yes, there are good reviewers out there that aren't "angry style". Just look at Somecallmejohnny!
^-^
Hey guys, I'm planning on publishing a book and I'm looking for people to critique my story. Would it be wrong for me to ask if someone on this blog can help me out?
ReplyDeleteI don't have a whole lot of spare time but I might be able to help out. Shoot me an email.
DeleteDo you mind giving your email here?

ReplyDeletemore stupid boxes
guess that is his new thing now
least he's consistent heh.
There's a galaxy of mispronounced words in this one. If there's any credit to be given, I suppose it's that he seems to have drifted away from mimicking James Rolfe's style, and is now doing Nostalgia Critic's slathered-on enthusiasm thing.
DeleteAlso, when he opened the Game of Thrones stuff: I don't even watch GoT, but I keep aware enough that I spotted about five indications that he doesn't either.
Deleteyeah he mispronounced "box" at least twice (bok)
DeleteOH GOD HE'S DOING THE WHOLE FUCKING 'CRAZY REVIEW' SHIT AGAIN!
DeleteAs for the Game of Thrones box -
'Stupid Knight Guy' - His name is Sandor Clegene, aka The Hound, and he's NOT a knight.
"Ned Stark is a crossdresser?!" - That was just terrible
The Irate Boxer/Cheap Tech Guy?
DeleteI have a favor for you guys. I worked hard on this Mario 3 video I made so can you guys take a look at it and give me some feedback. It's way more watchable than anything Bores puts out.
ReplyDeletehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iDfN639BjgU
What do you guys think about the mini-NES coming out in November? I think it seems cool, but costs way too much for what it is. Yes, it's $2 a game, but these games are all 30 years old. A $40 price tag I could deal with, but $60 seems too much.
