Been pretty busy, and really Chris hasn't done much in the way of the videos.
But thanks to info from Marley Hughes, it seems Chris has been pretty active on Facebook. Marley has provided all the screenshots shown in this post.
Back on the 20th, Chris announced retirement... again. I didn't believe him as last time, it was just fishing for complaints. Same with his claim of "semi-retirement" as he was still posting videos (mostly shilling crap but still).
Then on the 22nd, he posted this:
Couple of things.
I can understand time, I mean all that wasted effort on green screen effects and sprites and awful bits where you play every character, that has to be a time consuming project. But where does the money come in? You have the games (and you often just emulate them), you have all the equipment, you have all the editing software, you don't hire actors or title card artists or anyone else to help, so where exactly would the money go? Hell, you made a video talking about how you cheap out on green screen, claiming you buy cheap table cloths at Walmart. So clearly the money isn't going to that.
If you're seriously considering crowdfunding, then you better disown the Ebegging Spoof, or else you'll look like a massive hypocrite (go download the video just in case).
But then, I got this, which was apparently posted last night (the 29th):
Wow... he's actually considering crowdfunding for "Season 6"
Okay Chris, if you're going to go this route, you better be fucking explicit in where all the money is going. You have to tell us bit by bit why you need the money to do this. You can't pull a Brianna Wu and just take the money & run. Also, again, disown the the Ebegging Spoof.
Still, it goes to show that once again he was phishing for fan praise. "No don't go Chris, I'll give you money I'll give you games I'll give you my first born". It's an endless cycle. Maybe that's why he won't make a video announcing his retirement? Because he's just going to come back anyway.
But if he really needs money so bad to fund his show (and I still don't get how), why not try Patreon? Well, Marley Hughes was kind enough to ask (as well as ask about GotGame).
It's not for you? What does that even mean? Explain yourself if you're going to say obtuse shit like that. Patreon isn't a difficult concept, it's basically a tip jar. Whether it's monthly or by piece of work. Do you not have anything to give back to the fans that contribute? Are you too lazy to list every fan in the credits of your videos? Explain!
Speaking of explaining, if you're not making videos for GotGame, what are you doing? You don't write articles for them, and I'm not sure what else you could do for them. You haven't updated your site in over a month (last post was June 22nd), your amiibo Informer site is dead, what do you contribute?
Well then, it's going to be quite interesting to see the crowdfunding page if it gets off the ground. Just know Chris, you could show up on here.
Don't be a Brianna Wu.

I'm beginning to think that this is either.
ReplyDelete1) A very indecisive situation,
2) He keeps trying to revive his franchise, but has been failing multiple times,
3) A bot that post posts for him was going haywire.
I can't believe I'm saying this, but... At least the Irate Gamer series is entertaining compared to the stuff he's putting out now. Even if he wants to cram in a bunch of special effects, he can still do it considering the free time he might have.
I'm thinking it's either 1 or 2.
DeleteIt's really hard to imagine a Bores crowdfunder succeeding. He's bad at publicity, bad at writing, and he'd certainly be bad at selling a large group on a risky idea; just for starters he has to coherently present the idea in detail and come off as serious and committed. His whole online persona, even when he's appearing as himself, involves too much bluster and swagger.
ReplyDeleteHe'd have to be asking for a mighty small amount of money to have a good chance at success. The question is whether he can connect those dots in his head before abasing himself on the internet. And if it actually did succeed, there's a whole new category of risk that he'll misuse the money or change his plans in some way.
I know this was posted 10 days ago, but for the heck of it.

Tolime?
DeleteLol, I didn't notice that until now, and it made me chuckle.
Deletetoo bad he isn't a woman or he could take the allison rap path on patreon
ReplyDelete2000/month for absolutely nothing
Who is Brianna Wu and what did she do?
ReplyDeleteThe closest comparison I can think of what BatDan's trying to say was when Phil Fish quit the internet & gaming industry and basically took most of the money for Fez II's budget. At least, he said "I'm taking the money & running"...
https://lolcow.wiki/wiki/Brianna_Wu This should explain
DeleteRemember GamerGate? Brianna Wu was one of its key people.

DeleteWith your money, Chris may be able to afford the vast expenses of filming in his own living room with his existing equipment! WOW!
ReplyDeleteOh, that's another good point. He films everything in his home, instead of renting out a studio or set.
DeleteAgain, why is money needed?
James Rolfe has made some videos that do not explicitly address expense, but show the great deal of equipment involved in making gaming videos, at least if you want do it right. James buys external storage and backup for many terabytes of raw footage, software that often charges for upgrades, props, costumes, the occasional set, and for all I know making a video materially runs up your electric bill, with lights, camera, TV and game console going all at once for hours at a time. At some point, you have enough equipment that one thing or another needing replacement is routine, but I have no knowledge that this level of care applies to Bores' work. There is clearly less labor and expense going into the IG show. An itemized expense ledger would certainly clear things up.
DeleteAccounting information is something no one ever wants to show in public online and they invoke their 'right to privacy' for it. It's not like we're asking for bank account numbers or tax returns...
DeleteCertainly no one HAS to show their private business expenses. I'm just observing that if you're going to beg for alms, it goes a long way to explain how they'll be used. In the case of James Rolfe's IndieGogo, he didn't have to say much more than "It'll be used for a feature film by a guy who makes consistently great and popular videos." Bores is up against a higher wall, though at least a new season of IG is far, far less ambitious.
DeleteI'm waiting for Retirony to catch up to Chris. You know, like when something happens before someone takes a retirement?
ReplyDeleteKind of off topic, but I STILL find it hard to believe that Archfiend now likes this guy. After years of exposing how much of a hack this guy was, he just decides to be a fan of him once he finds out that people still hate him for being a ripoff? I've heard that Asa has warmed up to him, but I'm not sure.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't have the money because he's probably still recovering from the Pursuit of the Paranormal fiasco. I still can't believe he emptied his bank account to try to get it on TV.
ReplyDeleteI generally admire people who risk a lot on something they believe in. But P of the P feels more like a rash gamble than a noble risk. It's hard enough for me to imagine someone believing fervently in ghosts in a year that starts with a 2, but deciding that the best thing to do about it is to make a documentary about themselves talking to a stud finder, and selling the whole thing as a media event rather than a sincere scientific inquiry... it all highlights one of the crucial differences between James and Bores; They both love Ghostbusters, but one of them realizes it's fiction.
DeleteJames is also a dumbass hugely biased Nintendo fan.. no more to be said.
DeleteA dumbass hugely biased Nintendo fan with a grip on reality, two million YouTube subscribers, and friends.
DeleteAnd a job doing what he loves.
And a house and family.
Don't worry, though, James'll be outed as a fraud by year's end and Bores will dance on his grave and taunt him via stud finder.

ReplyDeleteBoy, it sure is getting shilly in here.
>Category: "Gaming"
DeleteI give him credit- there was actually a lot of valuable information in that video for someone thinking about buying the product. Only a small amount of purposelessly describing what's in photos from the website.
DeleteWtf I thought gamergate discussion wasn't allowed here.
ReplyDeleteMeh, it's died down at this point.
DeletePlus, Wu is crazy outside of Gamergate.
Shitposting again with TLDR crap? Meh. You really need to get a life man, i think you must be an obsessive gay for Irate Gamer.
ReplyDeleteWhat does that even mean? If you saw the first sentence on this page, then you can see BatDan has been busy. Heck, he even told me he doesn't do this 24/7, he isn't that obsessed.
Delete@ Spiggle
DeleteGeez, this comment is disappointing. For someone who hates BatDan, I expect you to make a comment that's even more nastier. :P
OT: I found out about a game still in development but has a beta version, called Kingdom Come Deliverance. I have to say, this game looks AMAZING! It's for PC too, so I won't have to get a console to play it. Maybe an updated laptop though...
ReplyDeleteHe has uploaded a new video. Promoting some drink box called Solyent. Nothing special but it's getting lots of dislikes.
ReplyDeleteDoes Chris not know that if he doesn't keep posting gaming stuff, people will lose interest and leave him?
Soylent Green is people!
DeleteHe doesn't care, because the basic truth is Chris is stupid, useless, talentless and lazy. He can have a career and a fanbase handed to him on a plate and still fuck it all up completely. Now all he needs is a way to blame his hilarious failure on James Rolfe, Doug Walker or Lewis Lovhaug.
DeleteHe's blamed it on James already ('opening up' video).
DeleteHe's blamed him for the fact people hate him, but he's yet to directly attribute his descent into complete obsolescence to him. And you can bet your bottom dollar if Chris blames that on anyone it won't be himself. He's the golden child who can do no wrong, even if he does have to pathetically pose as his own mother to make himself feel like it.
DeleteChris opted for free stuff in lieu of a steady YouTube payout because he didn't want to invest the time and effort it requires. He's lazy despite how much he crows about working on projects and being super busy.
ReplyDeleteyou seem to "think" you know a lot about people that you don't even know. Now you sound like Batty to the tee! Go play detective dumbass for a living, I can bet you'd starve within 2 weeks. Lmao ~
DeleteSpeaking of a living, LadyBuggin, what is Chris' job?
DeleteHey LadyBuggin, Chris is being a hypocrite. He saids being a sellout is bad in his Yo Noid review, and yet years later, he is now being a sellout.
DeleteHey LadyBuggin, how does it feel to have a 'son' who takes money to sell worthless shit to disinterested gaming fans? You know your uber creative genius 'son' is whoring himself out for milk products now? You know that even his own few remaining fans now hate him? Proud? ~ XD
DeleteChris had a mildly successful YouTube channel that use to bring in some decent views and I'm sure made a tidy profit. Instead of continuing with his successful IG and Skylander vids, he switches over to product reviews. Those vids aren't getting anywhere near the views (nor the likes) his older videos received. So he's clearly not making the kind of YT money he used to.
DeleteSo what's in it for him? It's clear that these product videos take very little of his time and effort to make. He doesn't seem to be worried about the lack of views and how it's driving away his fans. That leaves a payout by marketers. Whether it's in the form or cash or free product.
It's not like Chris bothers to keep his YT fans informed anyways. I can't tell you how many times people ask about IG episodes only to be told by others that IG is retired. It's easier for Chris to throw up a FB post than it is to communicate with the YT community.
So yeah. Chris is lazy.
you have no idea what ventures Chris is into OR how many different companies he's working for at the moment. like I've said, your detective dumbass radar is set on fail. Have fun mr. gumshoe looking for the next big scoop as neither I nor Chris will ever let you rag time nit wits know just what is going on in Christopher's exciting and most successful life. Lazy is not an option, semi retiring for greener pastures is :D
Delete@Locus: no one is breaking their arms to buy any product they see fit to purchase, unlike your idiot president that forces people to buy unconstitutional Obama care! big difference plant eater that your named for. what's funny is all you Bernie Sanders people LOVE free shit but complain when someone else receives the rewards. hypocrite much? btw yes sir eee, I'm proud as a peacock over my son's legacy as the one and only Irate Gamer. you all said it could never be done but it was a hell of good 8 year long run for IG. Reminds of Trump's triumphed nominee run. Great men think a like!!! :)
Delete@LadyBaggins666: If Chris is as busy as he claims he is, why is he still doing anything on YouTube? He clearly can't devote enough time to full IG episodes, and the tech review videos clearly aren't popular enough to sustain the channel. So why do it? Why not focus on his other "ventures" full-time and just let the channel go?
DeleteAre you functionally retarded? Besides your idiotic rant having nothing whatsoever to do with what we're discussing, I've told you at least 3 times that I am not American and I do not live in America. Can this simple fact not penetrate your thick skull?
DeleteCome on, guys, at least she answered us. Now we know that Chris' professional life is every bit as exciting and successful as it is secret. He's probably won awards we've never even heard of. She also let us know that the Affordable Care Act is mandatory and the Locus Ceruleus region of the brain eats plants.
DeleteHer only real error is regarding the thesis of this blog: I think we've always been clear that it shouldn't be done so poorly rather than couldn't be done at all.
Kinda like how you call people that don't like your content terrorists and criminals, right Chris? And that apparently we're all Sanders supporters even though I don't think anybody on this site has mentioned anything about politics at all. Because that's just logic at right, right?
DeleteThe man is an irredeemable idiot who has been given a thousand chances yet chooses to prostitute himself for soylent. An absolutely shameless hypocrite who deserves every bit of scorn and derision that comes his way. His political assumptions, much like his embarrassing alter-ego, are the result of him being an abject coward. I've no sympathy for him whatsoever. It's genuinely enjoyable to watch it all blow up in his wretched, nasty, talentless rip-off face, and that's why I'm here.
Delete@ LadyBuggin

When Chris can't be bothered to post a two minute "state of the channel" video for the benefit of his fans, but somehow finds time to make product shilling videos, then yes - Chris is lazy.
DeleteWhen Chris can't be bothered to work on episodes of Irate Gamer, but somehow finds time to make product shilling videos, then yes - again - Chris is lazy.
Let's not forget Chris' biggest fear - honest feedback. We're talking about someone who reviewed his own DVD, false-flagged critical YouTube videos, reviewed his own shit game, paid reviewer-bots for his book and pretends to be his own mother to gain approval. If he told his fans in a video 'This is what I'm doing now', he'd face an even bigger backlash than he's already getting.

ReplyDeleteSilent Spring has been silenced.
DeleteHi, Chris! I see you're here- oh...
DeleteChris keeps using the "I don't have time" excuse for not making videos. Funny how James Rolfe has both a wife and a child to care for, yet he still puts out content regularly. Sure there aren't as many AVGN episodes, but he's at least able to give his fans something (something they will actually like). Chris should have no excuse.
ReplyDeleteJames makes videos for a living, and has Mike helping him. Bores is still pretty slow and sporadic for working 40 hours a week and only making videos in the leftover time, but at least he has the viable excuse that he's only one person who's gotta sleep.
DeleteHarrod you're wasting your type on these idiots. Everything goes right over their pee headed brains. They are only pissed off because they can't handle the truth that Chris has a wonderful, successful life and every thing he touches produces great results. Jealousy has gotten THEM no where and that makes them devastated!
DeleteLMFAO this is your best post ever! XD Absolutely hysterical. So....why aren't we all jealous and pissed off at James Rolfe then, given he is massively more successful than Chris by any and all reasonable measures?
DeleteThe things you have to tell yourself in order to live with your utter failure and ineptitude at everything are hilarious. Everything Chris touches has great results XD There are no words! Hahahahahaha! His DVDs never sold shit, his abysmal game was hauled off the app-store, GotGame stopped sending him to E3, his book and documentary were a dismal failure and now his YouTube channel has died on it's ass. That's not gold. That's shit.
Also, LadyBuggin, the blog wasn't aware that Chris is leading an exciting and successful (but secret) life until you disclosed it. I am happy to hear, though, that everything he touches produces great results; may I ask how many copies of Ghost Hunting 2.0 have sold to date? Figures on Pursuit of the Paranormal would be interesting as well.
DeleteOf all the mental leaps anyone would ever make to justify their failure, I can't get over this one. Of all the internet successes out there, we've apparently chosen to focus our jealousy on a man who's name is synonymous on the internet with 'human punchline'.
DeleteHarrod: many many many!!! not all sales are internet related. there are many avenues that exist in which that topic of ghost hunting materials can be marketed. so yeah I can report it's done great and he is indeed working on a 2nd book of the same genre. thank you for your well wishes on Chris's wonderful life, very mature, kind, and thoughtful of you :)
DeleteYes, not all sales are internet-related. What are the raw sales of the physical versions then? Surely those would be even easier to see, would it not?
DeleteOh man, if he does crowdfund the next season, I'd fucking LOVE to see the stretch goals and backer tiers. That would be a sensible chuckle and a half.
ReplyDeleteI'd imagine it would see the same fate as DarksydePhil's "Project 7".
Delete$1,000 gets you a flask of his spit, $100,000 gets you something he tried to sign and sell on eBay, and $1,000,000 will give you one of his bowel movements.
DeleteWow! My very own piece of cowabunga shit? SHUT UP AND TAKE MY MONEY!

ReplyDeleteWhat's the with the war against Rotten Tomatoes? Are people just upset about others having a different opinion than them?
ReplyDeleteBasically, imagine if the entire Sonic fanbase still acted like Sonic '06 and Shadow the Hedgehog were actually masterpieces and everyone who said otherwise was being paid off by Nintendo. That's the DCEU fanbase. Bunch of whiny children with no understanding of how the world works.
DeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
DeleteDude I know people that say those games are good games unironically because they have no werehog or Sonic Boom
DeleteThat fanbase is toxic and will remain so because none of them can decide what makes Sonic good
@Adam - Yeah, but the vast majority acknowledge that '06 and Shadow are terrible, at least on a technical level. But the DCEU fans, by the simple fact that there are only a few films out yet, uniformly think all the DCEU films are actually great. At least with Sonic, one can say that they only like the Genesis games, or newer stuff like Colors and Generations. With the DCEU, you can't do that.
Deletenew video
ReplyDeleteChris says Wisdom Tree asked him to peddle their game.
How fitting, a company that produced bootleg games asking a bootleg gamer to promote their shill
Wisdom Tree is still exist? Now that's a real surprise!
